We had lunch here on Saturday. The food was excellent,. There is a really good food menu with specials on the board and everything we tried (group of 4) was outstanding and really good value for money, given it is in Barnes. The food choices are also different, with faggots, a rarebit, venison and ox cheek all on the menu. The drinks choices are also varied with plenty of quality choices, we had several different beers and a very good bottle of red with our meal. Would undoubtedly go again if in the area as everything really is excellent. The only negative is that it did get very busy so finding a table can be a challenge and best to book ahead if you can.

The Red Lion is a rare thing: a pub which turned itself into a restaurant but also managed to remain a proper pub. There appears to be no tension between its several roles as relatively high-end but casual eatery, community meeting place, relaxed beer garden and good old boozer. The management deserve congratulations for this and you deserve to take yourself along and enjoy a decent pint of Fuller's. Long may it continue to strike the right balance that so many restaurant "pubs" miss.

We love the Red Lion. We came to celebrate a birthday with most of the family. The trout dish was delicious and my partner couldn’t stop raving about the liver and bacon which he said was the best he had tasted in years. Loved the wood pigeon pate which was quickly polished off by 2 of our family. Excellent service as usual. We will be back very soon.

Visited for Sunday lunch. Unable to book a table in advance as it was already booked up. We waited at the bar for a table in the bar. Roast was excellent and generous portions. Good wine selection and plenty of choice available by the glass. Lovely selection of gins too. They could do with a printed list of all the gins available with a one line description, we have amazing gins in the UK to chose from. Toilets are on the ground floor and lovely and clean. Beautiful large pub, I hope I have the opportunity to go back. Well run by management.

Red Lion is a favourite of mine for food. Sadly when visited on Sunday the service wasn't good had to ask to order had dinner delivered before starter plates removed. The waitress sullen no way as good as the usual waiters we have always seen. When we asked for gravy she didn't return with it, she walked past frequently but didn't ask once if all ok. Had to ask one of the male waiters for the bill, didn't want to stay any longer for dessert 😕 had to say this as service has always top notch hope we never get that waitress again.

I was the first customer after doors open in the morning (I'd been waiting for my car to be serviced nearby and wanted somewhere to eat that wasn't full of Burberry waistcoats and hooray henriettas!). I ordered the Club Sandwich and an orange juice. The young man who served me was very friendly, and as I had never visited this particular branch of Mrs Miggins' port of fare, he patiently showed me the way things were done there. The sandwich was very tasty and a good portion size. Some of the bacon was burnt and the chicken was cold, as was the plate, but this was balanced by the overall taste of the ensemble and the fries, which were hot - crispy on the outside, fluffy within.

Rude and unhelpful staff. Seats surrounded by smoking areas. UNFRIENDLY TO FAMIlES WITH KIDS. Made a request for assistance with finding a non smoking table and despite loads of free tables we were not allowed to sit inside or in the non smoking section outside. You were told we could sit by the toilets or by the smoking hut!! Burgers are £17+ so we saved a good deal by leaving. Update - we found a welcoming restaurant in Barnes by the pond who were happy to serve us at a smoke free table. We were even allowed to sit inside. Best of luck with the new smoking regulations

T VISIT THIS PUB IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN! - Disgraceful behaviour - asking a group of 20+adults & children (well behaved) to leave at 4pm. We were enjoying the beer garden when we were informed by a member of staff (at 3:30pm) that no children were allowed after 4pm. And we would have to leave at 4pm. There were no signs in the garden, in the front of the pub, or on the website (or anywhere for that matter) indicating we would have to leave at 4pm Staff were very happy to take our money when we ordered our drinks (with no mention of the 4pm children’s curfew) Please don’t advertise yourself as a family friendly pub as it most definitely isn’t! We have lunch at the Red Lion on a regular basis and the food and the service are consistently excellent. Yesterday was no exception. We were sitting near the kitchen and could see how busy they were and yet still we didn't have to wait long for our food. No matter what the pressure the staff are always friendly and helpful. There's brilliant co-operation between the team to ensure everything runs smoothly - all credit to the landlord/lady who are often around and pulling their weight. I don't think I've had a bad meal there since they took over. I've been meaning to post a review for ages - we've been rather taking this local gem for granted which was brought home when it closed for a few days for renovation.

Situated at a busy crossroads in the centre of Barnes this is a traditional London pub. There is plenty of parking round the back. The interior is spacious and not particularly intimate. You can drink or eat and there is quite an extensive menu, both bar snacks and full meal. I had Crispy Squid in a roll. Spicy and unusual although a little too much oil on the bread. We went in to the Red Lion on the off chance that they might have a table despite it being a Saturday evening between Christmas and New Year. The staff in the restaurant area were very kind in accommodating us and finding a table. The service continued to be excellent and attentive, and the food was great – I can't speak for the whole menu but the Fish & Chips and both the ginger and sticky toffee puddings were exactly what we'd hoped for! For London, the prices were maybe slightly above average (although drinks were very reasonable), but this is definitely a well above-average pub (calling it a pub seems unfair – especially considering the grandeur of the restaurant area!). On a practical note, I was surprised to find that there was free parking at the rear of the pub – an there's also plenty of on-street parking in local roads in the evenings and on Sundays. There were also plenty of well-behaved dogs attending dinner which we loved, and makes it a practical stop after (or before) a long walk!

Great atmosphere and awesome service. Food quality, however, was not great. It was presented well and was edible, but the quality was not 10/10... ordered the steak, and the potatoes were extremely dry as if they were left out after being cooked... veggies were extremely salty but well cooked. Steak was mediocre as it was half overcooked. I'm not sure how they managed that. starter, which was the whipped feta with pine nuts and bread, was awesome. Overall, it was decent enough for pub food. I would recommend it, but don't expect world defining meals. 8/10 would go back, won't order the steak. Oh, and also, why do they not bring the bottles closed? Ordered two bottles of wine, and both came pre-opened from the bar...

Went on Saturday lunch in December. Must say disappointing okish lunch. Ordered a burger as main course. Quite dry and tasted dull. It’s sad I had to use ketchup to make the taste better. British pub food in the UK is getting worse. I paid around £32 (per person) for shared starter (whitebait) and a main course and a shared dessert and a shared sparkling water. The sticky toffee pudding was however good which I think can hardly go wrong. To be honest, I rather pay more and go for Michelin guide/star restaurant. I just don’t know how British pub/restaurants can survive at this rate. Maybe they are meant for unrefined palate. Service quality of waiter was good and polite nevertheless.

Very appalled with the quality of food, ordered 2flat iron steaks medium cooked , when they arrived the steak was very bloody , tough only ate 2 pieces sent it back to be reheated and it was tough as old boots. Reported a hair was found in the chip which put me off my food. Broccoli was so tough unable to eat and overall the food was like warm -very disappointing. The puddings were taken off the bill to compensate the disappointed meal but we encountered the puddings were cold and pastry case was so hard to cut !!
