Bad service which is unusual nains came out before starter was removed. Asked for gravy and was ignored had to ask twice, food wasn't hot. Waitress walked past a few times not asking how food was. So disappointing as love this pub. Hope I don't get this waitess again couldn't wait to leave. Nicki

I was the first customer after doors open in the morning (I'd been waiting for my car to be serviced nearby and wanted somewhere to eat that wasn't full of Burberry waistcoats and hooray henriettas!). I ordered the Club Sandwich and an orange juice. The young man who served me was very friendly, and as I had never visited this particular branch of Mrs Miggins' port of fare, he patiently showed me the way things were done there. The sandwich was very tasty and a good portion size. Some of the bacon was burnt and the chicken was cold, as was the plate, but this was balanced by the overall taste of the ensemble and the fries, which were hot - crispy on the outside, fluffy within.

Rude and unhelpful staff. Seats surrounded by smoking areas. UNFRIENDLY TO FAMIlES WITH KIDS. Made a request for assistance with finding a non smoking table and despite loads of free tables we were not allowed to sit inside or in the non smoking section outside. You were told we could sit by the toilets or by the smoking hut!! Burgers are £17+ so we saved a good deal by leaving. Update - we found a welcoming restaurant in Barnes by the pond who were happy to serve us at a smoke free table. We were even allowed to sit inside. Best of luck with the new smoking regulations

Lovely outside space - a big classic local 'boozer' but menu and food disappointing as Summer. Menu features too many heavy meat, cheese, chips.. come on where's the salade Nicoise, Bang Chicken, fresh salads.. feta, watermelon, olives. Burrata salad..No 'normal' bread other than greasy heavy focaccia.. I struggled to choose given v warm day.. disappointing and unimaginative for the Summer.

We have lunch at the Red Lion on a regular basis and the food and the service are consistently excellent. Yesterday was no exception. We were sitting near the kitchen and could see how busy they were and yet still we didn't have to wait long for our food. No matter what the pressure the staff are always friendly and helpful. There's brilliant co-operation between the team to ensure everything runs smoothly - all credit to the landlord/lady who are often around and pulling their weight. I don't think I've had a bad meal there since they took over. I've been meaning to post a review for ages - we've been rather taking this local gem for granted which was brought home when it closed for a few days for renovation.

Situated at a busy crossroads in the centre of Barnes this is a traditional London pub. There is plenty of parking round the back. The interior is spacious and not particularly intimate. You can drink or eat and there is quite an extensive menu, both bar snacks and full meal. I had Crispy Squid in a roll. Spicy and unusual although a little too much oil on the bread. Others in the party were very pleased with their meal and we will return.

We went in to the Red Lion on the off chance that they might have a table despite it being a Saturday evening between Christmas and New Year. The staff in the restaurant area were very kind in accommodating us and finding a table. The service continued to be excellent and attentive, and the food was great – I can't speak for the whole menu but the Fish & Chips and both the ginger and sticky toffee puddings were exactly what we'd hoped for! For London, the prices were maybe slightly above average (although drinks were very reasonable), but this is definitely a well above-average pub (calling it a pub seems unfair – especially considering the grandeur of the restaurant area!). On a practical note, I was surprised to find that there was free parking at the rear of the pub – an there's also plenty of on-street parking in local roads in the evenings and on Sundays. There were also plenty of well-behaved dogs attending dinner which we loved, and makes it a practical stop after (or before) a long walk!

Great atmosphere and awesome service. Food quality, however, was not great. It was presented well and was edible, but the quality was not 10/10... ordered the steak, and the potatoes were extremely dry as if they were left out after being cooked... veggies were extremely salty but well cooked. Steak was mediocre as it was half overcooked. I'm not sure how they managed that. starter, which was the whipped feta with pine nuts and bread, was awesome. Overall, it was decent enough for pub food. I would recommend it, but don't expect world defining meals. 8/10 would go back, won't order the steak. Oh, and also, why do they not bring the bottles closed? Ordered two bottles of wine, and both came pre-opened from the bar...

Went on Saturday lunch in December. Must say disappointing okish lunch. Ordered a burger as main course. Quite dry and tasted dull. It’s sad I had to use ketchup to make the taste better. British pub food in the UK is getting worse. I paid around £32 (per person) for shared starter (whitebait) and a main course and a shared dessert and a shared sparkling water. The sticky toffee pudding was however good which I think can hardly go wrong. To be honest, I rather pay more and go for Michelin guide/star restaurant. I just don’t know how British pub/restaurants can survive at this rate. Maybe they are meant for unrefined palate. Service quality of waiter was good and polite nevertheless.

It is a beautiful pub in the villagesque setting of Barnes, with a very chilled outside seating area (but the inside pub looked great as well). The staff were all super friendly and welcoming, the service was prompt, and the whole ambience was perfect. We went for a meat burger, a vegan burger, and the chicken schnitzel which were all just right (the schnitzel was home made and served with a very fresh fennel slaw). The menu looked like it had something for everyone at a range of prices to suit everyone, and the bar was well stocked with decent ales, ciders etc. Would thoroughly recommend.

Super pub and huge on the inside. Great outdoor garden and front patio area is also good for catching the sun and watching the world go by. Sunday roasts are a must as we had had many recommendations to try one which we did late last year. Our most recent visit was for a small lunch and drink. I had the chicken club sandwich which comes with triple cooked chips and it was excellent and very well priced. We also tried the steak sandwich again very very nice. The pub is super dog friendly with lots of water bowls and not too cramped inside. Only criticism is there was lots of staff members which can sometimes counter act how long you wait to be served, but the bar was very quick and we did wave down some one to help order our food but we're looked over a few times as I can only assume they thought we were already being served. Well worth a visit and will be back. Photos of my sandwiches 😋

So nice to have an independent cafe on the high street , as opposed to the usual overpriced Starbucks and Gails , who seem to have taken over so much on the high street lovely Italian food from snacks/cakes to more substantial meals, great place to meet with friends, with nice atmosphere

The Adelaide doesn’t even look much like a pub from the outside but go in and it’s very traditional. We went for Sunday lunch and were very impressed. The quality of the vegetables was especially good, a tricky thing to achieve with a traditional roast. And it was very good value. Two and a bottle of wine came to £35 a head. There us also a lovely garden but it might be a while before it’s warm enough to eat out. We are planning another visit before then.

It was the worst experience of my life. The food were tiny proportions and tasteless. The food and drink was grossly overpriced. The service was appalling. The servers looked underage and were extremely rude. We felt like garbage. I would never go back there again and highly recommend everyone should avoid these premises like the plague.

Very appalled with the quality of food, ordered 2flat iron steaks medium cooked , when they arrived the steak was very bloody , tough only ate 2 pieces sent it back to be reheated and it was tough as old boots. Reported a hair was found in the chip which put me off my food. Broccoli was so tough unable to eat and overall the food was like warm -very disappointing. The puddings were taken off the bill to compensate the disappointed meal but we encountered the puddings were cold and pastry case was so hard to cut !!
