Known this pub for a while. Horrible prices but lovely atmosphere - particularly outside. It's the heaters wot do it!

It was a fantastic wake here and the owner couldn't have been more attending

Great local with a good choice of beers coupled with good food and friendly service. At the risk of being too detailed the mushroom soup deserves a special mention - it was delicious. There are a few bedrooms as well and the one I had was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. I will definitely visit again if I’m in the area.

Great local pub, with excellent pub food

We have been going to this pub for years now, especially when visiting my Mother who lives nearby. The food is of high quality. The staff, especially the landlady, could not be more helpful. And parking is easy. What's not to like?!

Mostly okay, but Fish&Chips served with ice cold peas out of the refridgerator. Chips not uniformly cut so that the smaller pieces are hard or burned.Staff is very friendly and helpful though.

Me dejé caer por una pinta o dos y disfruté de uno o dos fríos, esto llevó a leer el menú que era muy variado, pero todavía tenía todos los alimentos básicos de la comida del pub. Así que una breve charla con la camarera sobre las recomendaciones y lo siguiente que los chefs fuera charlando y aconsejando sobre lo que él pensó que podría gustarme con tanto entusiasmo que prácticamente les dejé elegir por mí! Seguro decir que disfruté de mi comida y daré la retroalimentación de que decir esto era ‘pub grub’ sería un flaco favor, era fresco, abundante e incluso se veía bien. Así que a revisar - gran bar, limpio, amable, bien presentado y tenía un buen ambiente. La comida estaba muy por encima de las expectativas bordeando los estándares del restaurante. Sin duda una recomendación mía y volveré. Gracias a todos los que hicieron que un visitante en solitario se sintiera como un querido local. 👍

Great food and friendly staff. Normal pub with normal pub food. No over complicated menus, no 2 menus for 2 different kitchens. Simple and brilliant. Value for money

A nice little pub to pop into after work . You can sit inside . If you sit outside the back you get a lovely view of the car park with deliveries from lorries to the back entrance of the shops.

Llegó a las 10. 15 para dejar maletas nadie allí o contestando teléfonos intentado por más de 30 minutos . tuve que hacer una reserva de emergencia en otro lugar, cuando finalmente escuché de ellos 9 pm caballero en el teléfono realmente grosero diciendo que no se puede reservar hasta las 2 pm y nadie allí hasta las 12 ! ! Le expliqué cuando hice la reserva que estaba visitando Kew Gardens y no me aconsejaron que no había nadie allí hasta después de las 12 ya que no habría reservado para alojarse allí si sabía esto.

Food is good. Garden is nice. Service depends on the day unfortunately. Most of the time their lovely sometimes their a little more difficult but on the whole a good pub.

Quiet, decent pub on a Tuesday evening. I was with a group and only had one drink (bought for me), so can't comment on food or service.

The food was great and the staff were efficient and friendly. No complaints.

This is not the Pig and Whistle of 30 years ago. This is a proper plush and busy pub with loads of happy helpful staff. You can stand at the bar, eat a meal, watch the sport or find a cosy corner - the choice is yours. Busy busy but lots of space inside and outdoors. Toilets are good too!

Came in with my mate beer and sausage and mash and was nice beer and food. Shall repeat when in area again.

This is my favourite local pub. I can come here alone and feel safe and welcome. The wine list is very good. They always play the big games of any sport. It’s a really friendly, welcoming suburban pub. The food is dreadful. Consistently and utterly dreadful. The pasta isn’t salted. The meat is tasteless. The chips are fried in old oil. The steak sandwich isn’t worth ordering. Although the sweet potato fries are reliable. But I love the place anyway.

The bar staff are pleasant and the pub restaurant is set out well and feels welcoming. It was not busy. I had the sea bass risotto. I should have known better. It was supposed to be served "on a bed of creamy risotto, mussels and clams". It came with some cut up prawns instead. No mussels, no clams. When I enquired that the menu description was different from what was in front of me, I was told by the server that it was only supposed to be a "garnish of mussels and clams". Ok I said, but there was no garnish/decoration of mussels or clams either. The sea bass was dry and overcooked. When the bill came, I was then asked if everything was ok by the same server. I lost the will and paid the bill in full and left. I won't be back.

Sunday roasts are good. Generous portions. Dog friendly. The rhubarb crumble is delicious.

Food really not good Steak was unedible very rubbery Bangers and mash far too smush onion and gravy - all you can taste is onion it’s really not great. My husband has tried the bangers and mash a couple of times but every time the mash is not edible as it’s all gravy and onion not much mash. Chicken wings ok Service not great - we called to book a table as we were going to 8 people they manger said they don’t take bookings fair enough but when our friends arrived all tables were reserved (thought you said no bookings allowed so why are all reserved signs on tables when we arrived) Asked the manager she said it’s for locals we are locals we live on Sheen Lane that’s as local as it gets Manager was not very helpful and couldn’t help us just kept saying sorry she hasn’t got any tables for us - so unhelpful after we called to reserve but said we cannot reserve all our friend travelled to come have dinner with us and we now look like unorganised idiots. Not going back here for steak, bangers or service it’s terrible

A lovely, friendly pub. With a good menu!

I usually like coming into this pub, but not today. I waited for quite a bit and the girl behind the bar did not acknowledge me at all. Another staff was busy making coffee. After waiting the girl disappeared without serving me. In the meantime a man came into the pub after me and he was served before me from a staff that appeared out of nowhere. He didn’t ask who was first and did even notice me. Surely he should have asked who was first (don’t get me started on the guy that got served first). Obviously I was completely invisible - I walked out! I’ll not be spending my money in that pub again! Go to the Hare and Hound instead. Staff a lot nicer!

What a great pub with a laid back attitude, warm and comfortable. Suitable for all groups or just a quick drink on your own. Very friendly staff and good beers with ales on the hand pump and excellent lagers. Food looks great but we weren't eating on this occasion. Highly recommended. Still absolutely five star. Always a warm welcome for all ages with food and great drinks.

This is a review of the Pig and Whistle as a hotel; we booked for Thursday last week and had a really comfortable stay. Gorgeous room; small but fully equipped and the bed was gloriously comfortable (my most important room feature!). Tea & coffee making facilities; excellent shower and although the window faced into the main road, it was perfectly quiet at night. There was a fan which was most welcome as it was a warm July London night. Parking was free & secure in the pub’s own locked-at-night car park. Staff were efficient and friendly and we briefly met Jeremy the owner on our departure in the morning. We will happily stay again. Sheen is a great little suburb; right next to Richmond and Kew and easy into central London too. We walked in under 10 mins to Richmond Park, which was glorious. We didn’t try the food but the pub was popular and packed all evening.

Just a one night stay but all very good, car parking is a huge help, they were so friendly when we arrived, the hall way, our room, all look newly decorated, all very smart clean and new. A little gem, will be back !

Came for drinks before La Plata. Had a couple in here, and it was lovely. Group of lads after playing football to a guy with a beautiful dog to families, such as mine. Just a nice atmosphere. Looked very clean.

Nice pub with delicious food and friendly service! The atmosphere is nice, there are a few big TVs where you can watch football and rugby and there is a garden as well. It was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon, but the service was pretty fast! I was surprised by the size of the portions as they were big. The chicken burger was delicious, the meat was juicy, and there were plenty of fries. Sausages and mash were very well seasoned and just mouth-watering. I would definitely recommend this place!

While I was on a business trip to Mortlake I popped into this bar, bar staff very helpful Nd friendly very nice decor nice atmosphere, there is a beer garden but due to the weather I didn't use ,good pint at a reasonable price, I would recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Always a great atmosphere and the Sunday roast is plentiful and delicious.

Good spot in SW14 to watch sports and have a couple of Guinness

I went to the pub quiz last Thursday (13/10) with my two friends who were visiting London, and we used to go to the quiz on a regular basis before lockdown. We ordered food and it was really well prepared and all three of us were very happy with our meals. My steak was cooked just as I like it. The bar staff could not have been nicer, they were very helpful and courteous, and cleaned the table before we sat down. They were prompt in clearing away afterwards as well. I have read the previous postings, but I found the staff were all very nice, including the manager. The quiz is very well done, the quizemaster makes it entertaining, and it always has a good atmosphere.

I went to this establishment last week for a wake and was treated appallingly by the owner and his female sidekick. Avoid this place at all costs (which are extremely expensive!).

A quiet small gathering.......grieving.....mourning..... what did we receive.....it was not hospitality....it was assault. A rogue employee......started off nice then spent the whole time hassling us...until he was volatile.....aggressive...demanding. Traumatising. When we were supposed to be relaxed we were tormented by this man.....a woman who we assume was his wife and 2 rugby type barmen. Nightmare Still trying to process it all.

Big pub with sport on several screens dotted about the place, plus an outside with booths and more TV. If you don't want sport don't go here. Food and drinks are all good well priced and efficiently served, nice feel to the place staff are friendly and locals not too scary. We've been a couple of times and not been disappointed. Quiz night on Thus is popular.

Went here for a family lunch. Food was fine but service poor. It was a good 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order and another 30 minutes after we'd finished eating before anyone appeared to clear our dirty plates and offer us pud.

Great garden with mock sheds to sit in lovely atmosphere. Great for taking the family even the pooch can buy a treat at the bar.

Nice pub with a nice outdoor space. Overall service was good, although the barman struggled with my order (he didn't know what Archers was, neither Bitter Lemon). That said my party ordered food which didn't take long to arrive and was really tasty. Apart from the barman struggling with my drinks order, the only other minor gripe was the TV in the main bar, which was very loud, thus making conversation difficult at times. On balance I'd return to this pub, but will endeavour to find a quiet corner to enjoy a drink and chat.

Hadn't eaten here since they introduced the fancy new menu. Old pub favourites (ham, egg and chips, anyone? Colcannon with your sausages?) have gone, and the prices are well up. I wouldn't mind the prices going up if the food were enticing, but frankly it wasn't. The staff were unengaged, and didn't check back after delivering the meal, nor were condiments offered. Won't be going back in a hurry.

Absolutely amazing food! I had the Thai red curry and my mom had the fish (cod) and chips. We were both very pleased with our meals, and the prices were reasonable. Lovely staff.

Being from this area I have known of this pub for over 16 years, what it was like and what it was known for under different management. The competition between pubs to be modern, have a friendly atmosphere and serve top mark food at a price that doesn't make you want to move is fierce. When I first moved here it was clear The Pig and Whistle couldn't have cared less about this. HOWEVER... under new management over the recent years I'd say its up there with some of the best. It may not be on the river like many pubs around here but it does have professional and friendly staff, GREAT affordable food and music you sometimes have to 'Shazam.'

The staff are excellent and attentive. The ambience is good. The two things that let the Sunday roasts down was that they were all served warm (not piping hot), and with totally tasteless gravy.

Haven't been in here for years, but it's been completely transformed since last time. Absolutely lovely pub although I haven't tried the food.

I was so looking forward to having a drink and some down time at this pub but the manager totally ruined it she was constantly on all her customers case by removing glasses that hadnt been finished with and constantly being very over the top moving swiftly around the pub making her presence known. The bar staff were constantly kept on their toes and we were made to feel very uncomfortable not only for ourselves but for the poor bar staff. It was like the manager wanted the custom but not the mess that went with it. Not the same atmosphere like it used to be and the cost of the food is absolutely crazy! I will not be returning which is a shame as the bar staff that have been there for many years are absolutely lovely and hard working they dont need to be pushed by a manager with OCD

We both had a Sunday roast dinner. The food was obviously microwaved and very poor quality. Televisions on in the lounge. Save your money and go somewhere a little bit better than this. No atmosphere or ambience whatsoever.
