Great pub near St Paul's. Friendly service and wide selection of beers. Nice intimate vibe until late evening, when there's often a DJ or music and it becomes more busy. Food (pizzas) is prompt, reasonably priced and tasty. On the whole, feels a lot less corporate / chain-like than most pubs in the area. You can also book a private or public area for a reasonable price, which makes it a good venue for after-work drinks or an event.

Delicious wraps and fantastic service that is so efficient and friendly. The chap that served me (might have been Italian) recommended the lamb wrap and it was amazing! Despite the pub being relatively quiet at lunch time the staff go above and beyond to make sure every one of their clients has an enjoyable memorable experience. I cannot wait to recommend and return ❤️

The Rioja was nice and the bar tender seemed to choose a vase and fill it up for a large. Not cheap but good vibe. When it's loud it's buzzy bit that's good for a Friday work drink. Stayed until 10pm. Apparently when it's a bit quieter the locals enjoy board games as it's pretty spacious with lots of nooks and alcoves and small tables. A good local with lots of craft beers on tap - must come back.

Very friendly staff. Tasty pub grub lunch, generous portions. A little pricey, but given the location and pleasant, comfortable dining area, not bad. It's a modern building (part of an office block,) on the site of an old pub of the same name. Pub proper on ground floor, upstairs for dining tables, comfy seating, cocktail bar. Two minutes from Old Bailey or Fleet Street.

The day of the Christmas party, I had called to find something out and the bar manager had told me one of the food we ordered had been swapped out as you guys did not have this which was fine but it would have been nice if we were updated before and given options on what we could have instead. My colleague had asked to see the breakdown receipt and the only reason this was not questioned on the day was because I was not there at that time and was told about this after Christmas. The bar staff were drinking alcohol behind the bar. They did attend to our needs when we asked. When we saw the receipt there was tip that was deducted from our drinks tab, when i asked the question I got 2 reason 1) this was a normal service charge and 2) the normally stop the bar tap from going over this was not told to me when i first got in contact with the sales manager. We had paid £300 for the food and we expected the quality to be better, but it wasn't, going back to the tip when i spoke to the lady she did not apologies and she mentioned how they were disappointed as they did so much for us, yes... but we paid to be at the venue and we are disappointed as well! I sent my feedback to the sales manager and no response back which i thought was very rude and not really good customer service.

Realmente horrible

We hired out the main bar at the Magpie & Stump for my 40th birthday party last weekend. The pub is closed over the weekend so it was a good opportunity to hire a private venue with our own bar. Sarah was excellent to deal with and ensured that the music played through the speaker system (not really loud enough if you want to dance though) and allowed us to bring our own snacks and some decorations. Walking to the local area I was overwhelmed by the history and that is just what the bar used to it's advantage by proudly showing the fact that the area was used for public executions giving the true nostalgic London feel. The bar has a great buzz in the later hours on a Friday Night truly giving off a great atmosphere. They sell some of the best types of British foods such as pies, fish & chips and toad in the hole which is quite delightful. A bonus is that it is quite close to St Paul's cathedral. I went in here for lunch during a 45 minute break between meetings. The menu is good and the interior was cool and welcoming. The staff were chatty and pleasant. Sadly, that’s where the positives end. I didn’t order anything complicated, just a pie and chips. After 25 minutes waiting, one of the team came across and asked me to confirm that it was chips I wanted and not mash potatoes. After 40 minutes waiting, the food still hadn’t arrived and I had to go to my next meeting. I walked out, having paid, but not eaten as I couldn’t be bothered with the faff of them insisting the food would arrive in the next five minutes, leaving me zero time trying to eat it boiling hot. In short, this is probably a great place to eat, but don’t go in here if you’re expecting a quick and tasty lunch delivered rapidly.
