The best restaurants serving British food in Rochford East of England

My 50th birthday breakfast with the family. Such a huge disappointment! So we had pre -booked the table 2 weeks prior as we were a party of 7. We arrived on time for our 11am booking and we seated with in minutes. The waitress came over but, rather than standing at the end of the table she stood behind 3 of our party, so ordering was made a little difficult as one of our party was hard of hearing, so to make it easier 3 of us moved our chairs to turn around to speak to the waitress. We all placed our orders and waited, and waited, and waited. 50 minutes after ordering (11.50 am) our breakfast turned up with our drinks! We ate breakfast and wanted to order more drinks and some of the party wanted order so cakes. But unfortunately we were told they were to busy to serve us at the moment?? So we went to order at the counter. Once we ordered we then had another 35 minute wait. Finally the cakes and coffees arrived, but unfortunately because one of the party had ordered a crumble, and that had to go through the kitchen it was around another hours wait. Then trying to pay was an absolute nightmare, everyone was so busy it was a 25 minute wait to just pay the bill. Finally leaving in just under 3 hours for breakfast. Food was lovely but the staff and wait was utterly ridiculous. Never again will I visit this place!

This place used to be great however another takeaway like the restaurant thinking they can cut corners downsize portions and no-one will notice. Super chicken kebab used to be super .. what I got was a 3rd of the chicken and salad in a small carton and small pitta for £12.75 think I eill go elsewhere in future thanks

Absolutely gorgeous place. Lovely food. Great staff but object to people standing smoking right by you while you are eating flicking ash! Has put us off going back unless you sit indoors. Shame really.

£5.90 for a slice of cake, good cake, to expensive. No a/c so it was hot and stuffy. Wouldn’t rush back. One chap was ordering a bacon sandwich and it was £7.50

I have been here for lunch many times now and every time I have visited it just gets better.. Food is always fresh. The homemade cakes are absolutely gorgeous! Generous portions. Atmosphere is relaxing and cosy . Staff attentive and polite. The shop downstairs is lovely too. Nice to have a look around and see some unusual items for sale..

Food was amazing as usual, all the staff was friendly and intentive, Kerry was out sever for the night and she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and to make the night special. Every item of food we had was to an amazing quality and well worth the price, if you haven't eaten here yet you have to give it a go.

Great ales, wonderful staff, friendly atmosphere

We ended up in this pub just by chance and tried out their menu. To our surprise the food was exceptional, the staff were also very friendly and accommodating. I Will be returning very soon and most definitely recommending to friends.

Came down for a meal with family was very happy with the service and especially the quality off beers and the variety of choice they had. Food was spot on my son loved his pasta and his strawberry ice cream definitely will go back as staff where friendly

Phill was a star again, we love him, he needs a night off to join us ladies for a ladies night out. P.s don’t forget Christmas Day off

Front of house last night was very quick to convince us the place was rammed just to get a £10 entry fee out of us only to walk in and walk straight back out, absolutely dead - we were one of about 5 people. Very disappointing and mis-leading to the point we didn’t even bother getting a drink.

Been here many times over the years and it consistently been a nice experience the menu is great + specials . And the staff and service has always been good. Never had a bad experience .. Great food and service and sensible pricing.
