The best restaurants serving British food in Rochford East of England

Upon arrival I thought the restaurant waa about to shut given the attitude of the fair haired waitress behind the counter. I asked for soup...to which "none left" was the abrupt reply. I offered my voucher which i was told would have to be converted into a code or I couldnt use it...again abruptly. Whilst awaiting my food another couple walked in who were warmly greeted by the same waitress. The food was ok but pricey for what it was. I left feeling less than happy with the whole experience.

I have been here for lunch many times now and every time I have visited it just gets better.. Food is always fresh. The homemade cakes are absolutely gorgeous! Generous portions. Atmosphere is relaxing and cosy . Staff attentive and polite. The shop downstairs is lovely too. Nice to have a look around and see some unusual items for sale..

We visited as a party of 8 adults and 3 children.All were catered for and the food was really good.Staff were friendly and helpful Evan though they were very busy.

Absolutely gorgeous place. Lovely food. Great staff but object to people standing smoking right by you while you are eating flicking ash! Has put us off going back unless you sit indoors. Shame really.

Has become a regular visit us and my 98 year dad who finds it easy to access with his walker and no steps.

Today my sister and I took our stepfather to the Anchor for a Birthday lunch. We had to wait a long time for drinks and food, seemed very under staffed. My sister and I ordered the Chicken Milanese, this dish was horrible.. just chicken in breadcrumbs deep fried and the chips were greasy, we had to order mayonnaise as it was all so dry and overcooked!! It tasted like it had been cooked in old oil and I have had a delicate tummy since!! Our coffee was also old and stewed!! I won’t eat here again!

Had a great meal, food was fantastic. Our waitress Ally was really helpful with the menu & was really friendly with our little ones. Will definitely be returning!

Just came home from having a meal wasn’t great! Had a cigarette outside went inside to speak to my husband probably 2 minutes went outside and someone had stolen my full packet of cigarettes, Disgusting how someone can do that; a table next to us a table of 3 were smirking lol will never go there again !!

I've been to Scott's many times but I'm really not sure I'll return soon. Last time the coffee was lukewarm at best,I mentioned it and was told that the baristas were in training and there was somebody there from the coffee company. I was quite heartened by that, hoping the 2nd coffee would be hotter. No, just the same. Visited again on Thursday, coffee not very hot at all. I'm sure I can't be the only person who likes their coffee hot. The teacake was nice , lovely presentation. A little disappointed to see service charge automatically added to the bill.

Two excellent meals on a Saturday night at our local pub. We ate from the restaurant menu. Crab tostada and Prawn and langoustine cocktail starters. Prawn and scallop linguini and Seabass formains; lovely. Waitress was lovely Please don't come......it will make it too busy for us 🤣

Lovely food at a lovely price! Great atmosphere and was seen to within seconds of arriving, brilliant arrive with very attentive staff

When ordering was told 20minutes but once paid it kept getting longer and longer ended up being an hour! Food arrived stone cold and cream on drink had completely melted. Won’t be using again .

We're local to the area and The Red Door was our first choice for hosting our baby shower. Gemma was so helpful with organising it, and was very flexible with us! The set up was simple, the place was ours to do what we want with until 5pm. We change the layout, brought in decoration, and even caterers. The place was perfect for the guests we had (40 adults and 15 children). Thanks a lot for helping make our baby shower special.

Not normally a fan of ‘pub grub’ but had a fantastic meal with the wife. Large selection to choose from and food was really well cooked. Great range of drinks and the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. First time I’ve visited in a while and the entire experience was a pleasure. Would definitely recommend.
