Absolutely gorgeous place. Lovely food. Great staff but object to people standing smoking right by you while you are eating flicking ash! Has put us off going back unless you sit indoors. Shame really.

Upon arrival I thought the restaurant waa about to shut given the attitude of the fair haired waitress behind the counter. I asked for soup...to which "none left" was the abrupt reply. I offered my voucher which i was told would have to be converted into a code or I couldnt use it...again abruptly. Whilst awaiting my food another couple walked in who were warmly greeted by the same waitress. The food was ok but pricey for what it was. I left feeling less than happy with the whole experience.

I have been here for lunch many times now and every time I have visited it just gets better.. Food is always fresh. The homemade cakes are absolutely gorgeous! Generous portions. Atmosphere is relaxing and cosy . Staff attentive and polite. The shop downstairs is lovely too. Nice to have a look around and see some unusual items for sale..

Had a delicious lunch at the Anchor. There were three of us and each had something different ( cod loin, pork belly and chicken) all loved our food. We then all had pudding which was equally tasty. The staff were all friendly and efficient. View of the garden and river was delightful, beautiful sunny day. Highly recommended.

Been here many times before (breakfast & sunday roast) & always been good food & service. Both ordered Ham Egg & chips but were served Gammon instead of cold ham -- very disappointing -- both of us left most of meal & explained to the waitress our reason, but she wasn't really interested. They are also adding 10% service charge to the bill now.

4 of us went for a roast on Sunday, we had two vegetarians with us. Jordan and his team were willing to accommodate without any hassle. We ended up having two roasts, one beef, one lamb and two halloumi burgers. The food was lovely. It was tasty, served hot and fresh. It was all so delicious! The staff were pleasant and happy to stop and chat. This place is definitely a little gem in the heart of Hockley - highly recommend it!

Eleven of us came to Celebrate my husband's Mother's 90th birthday, yesterday (17th March) for lunch. We were on a large table at the end of the pub.(Booking probably in the name of Guest). I was not impressed with the waitress, she was rude and impatient with me. She appeared to want to exclude me (when ordering desserts) so I had to say, "you've forgotten me." Then she didn't ask if I wanted a tea. I said I want a tea. She said "I've done the order now." Though I got a tea. This partly ruined my experience. And will put my husband and myself off returning for a while. Previously we've always had good service here. Disappointing.

First time visiting Plough & Sail. Went for lunch on New Years Eve and had an excellent meal. Three superb courses plus very friendly & helpful staff. Next time I am that way I will be sure to visit again. It was the best pub meal I have had in a very long time.
