Lovely food at a lovely price! Great atmosphere and was seen to within seconds of arriving, brilliant arrive with very attentive staff

Ordered mini mixed grill and hardly touched it. The chicken was awful and after one bite I could not anything else. We were also disappointed with the candy mania dessert. Will not be back.

Have been here quite a lot of times, food good, staff great. Big downside was having to listen to the manageress talk to her staff like they was useless. Raising her voice everytime she pulled them up, even shouting at one member of staff (just do your job). Found it so disrespectful 😒

Great atmosphere especially when there’s football on. Extremely friendly staff who have it really tough. Long shifts and they work so hard. On a slightly negative point the place does need a bit of a facelift

We went to The Travelers Joy on Sunday with my husband and In Laws we booked a table which was very easy. We ordered ours meals and drinks and within minutes Trish delivered the drinks to the table closely followed by our meals. She was very polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We often go in The Travelers Joys to eat and Wendy Trish and the rest of the team are all very pleasant and helpful some of the team even know our names. We like the food there and it’s always a good atmosphere. Another 10 out of 10 guys. Oh I meant to say my In laws travel from East Tilbury to eat in there which they have done on several occasions.

Had offer,but the drinks was not included, and as such,it was put through the till,and had to pay,despite not wanting to pay extra,no decaf,no hot chocolate, no frozen yogurt, all in all won't be going back

My family and I regularly come down to the Travellers Joy for a meal and catch up as life is so busy. When we do the food is always delicious and the staff are warm, welcoming and friendly. One staff member in particular is Kate who is always so attentive and lovely to us! The Travellers Joy is our local and never disappoints, when you’ve got a place this good on your doorstep, why look elsewhere! I’m sure we’ll still be coming here for years to come 😊

The menu was varied and the food tasty but found it over priced compared to other local chains that offer better service: £6 glass of wine served in a glass full of stains,get your own cutlery and dirty toilets.Was not overly impressed but the alaska trifle was worth it.

This restaurant is always our go to, my children love going here always good food the staff are great. Whenever we go for breakfast, lunch or dinner food is always hot and delicious well done to the staff and manager it’s a little gem in Rayleigh!

Very nice food for a good price. (Edit) Been here a few times now and thought I would add to this review. I stand by what I have previously said but just small things that have annoyed me. Receiving a drink that is not fully filled after asking for no ice, in my mind just seems petty and penny pinching. The landlord does seem to be miserable on most occasions, don't get me wrong his courteous and polite. Other than those 2 things a nice place to go.

Came down for a meal with family was very happy with the service and especially the quality off beers and the variety of choice they had. Food was spot on my son loved his pasta and his strawberry ice cream definitely will go back as staff where friendly

Pros: Nice little pub that's easy to get to and some friendly staff. Cons: unfortunately you could be waiting a while for food to come out, possibly around 40 mins - 1 hour. Can't play pool as the 1 cue stick is broken, the TV was so loud couldn't hear what the bar staff were saying and last Thursday (quiz night) it started late and the quiz host didn't let us know when it started nor did he apologise for the mix up.

Rushed as not being told that we only had 2.5 hours for our birthday meal.

Highly recommend. Fantastic food and very good value, too! Excellent service with a friendly personable team where nothing is a problem. We will be returning!

Great food , excellent service on time and exceptional value for money.. Staff were so attentive and welcoming .The steak sizzler is a must ,quality steak with all the trimmings and the fudge cake is to die for [big portions]. Tbh not the 1st time we have eaten here and certainly not the last ..

Three of us all had different meals and we all had a perfectly cooked one. My friend had a beef lasagne which she said tasted lovely. I had a mini mixed grill which was cooked so well the chicken fillet fell apart as I cut it and the taste of the entire meal was delicious. My partner had the full monty mixed grill and he agreed with me and especially loved the rump steak which was cooked to perfection.

5 of us came here for lunch and all of the food was terrible. Jerk chicken was just plain chicken and the sauce that came with it should never be served to anyone again. The mac and cheese was bland and not at all what it was described. Korean chicken burger was cold and the sauce wasn’t nice either which came with salt and pepper chips which was cold and had curry powder on it. Chicken skewers and halloumi fries were overcooked in the fryer and really hard to eat. Overall experience was poor we won’t be coming again

Went in to specifically watch a football match at 19:30 and was told I'd have to wait until 20:00 because the TVs sync up. The TVs don't sync up, they're just incompetent and I'm not a man.

Sharon made our evening brilliant. Thanks to all of the team again. Quiz night is great fun on a Thursday but must empathize that Sharon mafe it for us. Will be back

If you book a table you can choose what match you’re watching, but don’t bother because first of all staff will say that hey have to put on what the majority want and that the tv’s are synced (they aren’t). Then they’ll tell you they’ll put it on after kick off (they won’t) but the second a man rather than a woman asks for the same match to be put on, it’ll be done immediately. Then you can pop to the loo that has a camera in it, which I thought was illegal, but it turns out of the premises has a big enough safety concern they can do it. All in all, best avoided.

Great experience. We had a last minute celebration meal for a large group of 20 people staff were extremely helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Massive shout out to the chefs aswell food came out within 20 mins was piping hot and delicious we all really enjoyed ourselves. Always our go to for large celebrations. Thank you again !!

The pub was short staffed but they did a wonderful job in serving as quick as they could. The food was excellent in taste and value for money. We will be back..

Had breakfast sunday 2nd Feb 2 members of staff were amazing however breakfast was awful !! served warm not hot ,toast on breakfast plate couldnt even be bothered to put on a seperate plate,scrambled egg was not even yellow it looked like a mashed up hard boiled egg warmed in microwave and put onto toast would not recommend

Very accommodating as there was two more that joined for our booking of 8. The food was a bit average with my roast beef being a bit fatty and veg very processed and atmosphere quite until we got there with our 10 + two more later

My family and I booked in for the festive menu on New Year’s Day. We were very well looked after by Kai, the food was lovely, plenty of choice, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Would recommend and will try the festive menu again next year.

Noisy, bustling, cheap and cheerful. Go in expecting a bustling and vibrant pub with people having a good time. Food is good but not spectacular. Prices are fair. Service was great!

17 of us for Christmas Dinner but also my daughters 40th Birthday, we have a fantastic time, the food was amazing and all the staff were very friendly and helpful and attentive throughout the whole time. A big credit to the pub and staff.

Was a great venue a year ago, but has really gone downhill now, the food is ok, but much smaller portions, suppose that's the cost of living...so, foods ok service ok, but it's not as it was, no wonder it was so quiet, it used to be very busy

The app was not updated as wanted to order Christmas dinner but App said they had sold out yet others were ordering this at the bar. Starters chicken stripes were nice but nacho were cold, I ordered the mix grill aked for my steak to be medium rare it was overcooked that I couldn't get my folk through it and the gravy was stone cold, which when i poured this over my dinner it made my whole dinner it made my whole dinner stone called, my son ordered a burger but tasted of chemicals to the point we all tried it and had to spit it out. The only upside to this that we will never eat here again

I went to the travellers joy for lunch. We stood at the door and there was not anyone to seat us. I then asked the staff if we could sit and a man told us we was to wait for someone to come over. Once we were seated I then ordered food however the staff member was extremely blunt and rude towards me. I then overheard them talking to eachother about a group of customers who were waiting to be seated. They said “they’ll have to wait. They will not get seated any quicker if they are asking to be seated”. Some of the staff are very nice however some of them are very rude and blunt. The pie I had was cold. There was no point asking someone to change it becuase the staff do not care about there customers. I was severed tea with no milk. I would not recommend this place at all! Do not come here! The staff are discrete about customers, they stand there at the bar talking about everyone!

Poor service take ages to get served. Ended up walking out as 3 people that work there walked past me didn't even acknowledge me at the bar. Told me had to sit bar side for food yet people after us got seated restaurant !! Don't like the attitude of staff and no acknowledgement

Had a lovely meal with a friend tonight. We both did the curry wednesday. I had keema lamb & friend had chic pea & sweet potatoe. If i'm honest, it was luke warm but the flavours were intense, so we were both happy. The staff ŵere lovely and we also had the wine wednesday deal so all in all, a great night. Ty to all the staff including kitchen staff.

Food selection was good and when the football was on the atmosphere was buzzing. Nice friendly crowd all having a laugh. The staff Adam the manager is a decent guy runs the pub like it should be. The bar staff were quick and poured a good pint. Will return

After visiting this establishment a few times now I thought it's time for a review. The menu has a wide selection of dishes available to suit everyone's needs. The staff especially Adam the manage he makes our visit very nice. Friendly good conversation and keep the pub in tip top condition green king should realise the hard work he puts in. The younger staff are good at there job and they all work as a team. Definitely be returning

Was at the pub for the weekly quiz and to celebrate a birthday. A few more people than originally planned were able to attend that meant we needed another table to fit everyone. Ruby and her team couldn't do more to fir us all onto 2 tables (pushed together) so we could all enjoy the evening together. Service throughout the night was excellent. We used the Greene King APP to order food and drinks. The food arrived promptly and piping hot. Drinks were brought to our table within minutes of ordering on the APP. Everything delivered with a smile in a friendly manner. Food was tasty and decent value (imho). There was a quiz on the night we were there (8 of us) which the majority of the customers took part in. Great quiz suitable for all ages. Had a fantastic evening. Friends, good food, great beers, quiz, European Footy on the TV and awesome staff. What's there not to like!!!! Great evening celebrating a birthday.

Food was awful. Had a so called Sunday roast beef. Three tiny roast potatoes rubberised yorkshire pudding inedible beef and stringy beans. Tasted like it had been cooked in morning and microwaved a few times. Staff were indifferent and woman who greeted us just told us how much time we had to eat!! I understand they were busy, but have been to hungry horse pubs before and have to say this one was the worst I have visited. Won't be going back anytime soon.

I’ve been a couple of times, and it’s been so good but today it was just so terrible. The service was extremely slow, and none of the staff were helpful at all. The fryer had broken, so most of the food wasn’t available. The food I ordered was disgusting, the chicken was hard and I couldn’t even chew it. My friend sent hers back, and I didn’t eat mine. My partners roast dinner was cold in places, but piping hot in others (clearly been warmed up in the microwave) and the dessert we had ordered (apple crumble) and waited ages and ages for, came out and how they even served it up like that was beyond me. I only got half a refund, when I should have got a full refund. I will never ever go back, it was terrible. The pub wasn’t full as most people left due to the fact the fryer wasn’t working and they didn’t have anything really on the menu, so they had no excuse for terrible food. It was worst food I’ve ever ate.

Wasn't too busy, midweek visit, which was nice so we could have a family catch up. Unfortunately I ordered the mushroom and ale pie and received steak and ale, the pastry was lovely, but not alot of meat inside and couldn't find any staff at time to challenge. I push the couple of pieces to the side and ate on. Others had chinese banquet (banquet is over describing it though), new yorker chicken breast (yum), child's chicken nuggets. Strange that the child's meal had steak chips but the adult meals had fries, all got eaten so not a problem at all.

Nice pub with a good selection of beers and wine, excellent food also, custom car night is on every Wednesday evening 🚗
