Bull Inn in Rochford

Eleven of us came to Celebrate my husband's Mother's 90th birthday, yesterday (17th March) for lunch. We were on a large table at the end of the pub.(Booking probably in the name of Guest). I was not impressed with the waitress, she was rude and impatient with me. She appeared to want to exclude me (when ordering desserts) so I had to say, "you've forgotten me." Then she didn't ask if I wanted a tea. I said I want a tea. She said "I've done the order now." Though I got a tea. This partly ruined my experience. And will put my husband and myself off returning for a while. Previously we've always had good service here. Disappointing.

My wife and I recently visited The Bull with some of her former colleagues for a night of chatting and laughter, drinks and food. The drinks were soon flowing and we all ordered main meals, which were tasty, brought out in a timely fashion and very tasty! I had the 'mixed grill' which was a spectacular meat feast and I would certainly recommend to anyone in search of a meat/protein fix. Our host Calum was polite, jovial and welcoming. He worked hard to ensure we had a nice evening. However, as a pub I sometimes find the atmosphere/ambience of the pub itself a bit sterile, hence my scores noted today. Other than that, I would certainly recommend you to visit. 🙏🏻🤓

Great lunch had here today. Dropped in half way on a country walk. Served by Ally who was brilliant and looked after us really well. Food was decent pub food and also good value. Pleased to see that there’s now a dog friendly area so will be bringing ours next time. We’ll be back soon.

Came in for a couple drinks with my family and from the get go our server Rosie was more than welcoming. We’ve never been to this venue before because we’re not from the area so Rosie kindly told us what the most popular items on the menu were whilst giving us some knowledge about the town. Food and drinks amazing! Need more servers like Rosie :)

Went for a friend's birthday so there was a big group! Service is awesome and the food is good to, place is looked after well toilets was nice and clean and fresh, and not over priced, will definitely go back

Just had a lovely birthday lunch at The Bull Pub. Food was superb and our waitress Karen was very professional and made us feel welcome.

Karen and Callum were very welcoming, professional and helpful. The food and service was excellent.

Very good food, tried the burgers ,lovely. Karen our server was very nice and friendly eventhough it was very busy in there, she was great . We've been quite a few times now, always have nice food

Food is ok, it seems very hot and miss really. Karen served us and she’s looked after us before. She’s always helpful with suggestions and has a great rapport with us all.

We visited on Saturday 15th February booked on line our table was being prepared purchase a drink at the bar then shown to our table. Fantastic service Rebecca looked after us. My husband has a garlic allergy our waitress was so accommodating & checked with the Chef first to what was availa ble. Lovely meal Lovely atmosphere Rebecca even helped me use my Blue light Card 💙

Good food, great service (from Karen), prices OK. We all want them to be cheaper don't we ? But good old Tesco vouchers, so the £10 to £20 food was in reality almost nothing. Atmosphere was good, middle of the afternoon, so it was fairly quiet. Just a great place to eat.

Ali was amazing I have gluten free diet but she was very professional and helpful very reassuring when you have special dietary requirements. Great service.

Ally our waitress was very helpful - a gluten free specialist. She was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was lovely particularly the giant yorkshire pudding with the roast - great value for money. We would definitely recommend this place.

We both enjoyed the new menu. The black berry balsamic glaze is unbelievable! Great to see The Bull still going strong for our annual Valentine's visit. Thanks to our friendly server Ally for looking after us. See you again soon.

Had a visit to an old fav pub of ours, used to have a vast menu with plenty of choice and disappointed to find it very limited to just pub grub ! Ordered steak and ale pie and mash , wife ordered duo of chicken and wild rice, arrived promptly but presentation was basic -scoop of mash, roasted carrot, huge 4inch diameter pie ans spoonful of peas and jug of gravy, ( pub grub ) I started my pie , which was flakey pastry lid and short base , it was lacking filling , so much so , I was just eating pastry and gravy..... had to open and dismantle the pie yo find 3 small pieces of steak , that was slightly tough to eat and not at all pleasant - I've had better pucker pies !! So I'd avoid ! My wife's meal looked bland and although she ate 90% it wasn't anything special you would request again . The plus was the service, shame about the food ! Shame really, it used to be a fab little pub .

Thoroughly enjoy this Pub since the change of Management. All staff are excellent. Karen needs a special mention - for looking after us!

Young staff are friendly, older ones not so much… Fantastic beer garden all year round. Food is mediocre, doesn’t stop me eating in there though. A great local pub however, little expensive.

This used to be a lovely pub with food but on the last few visits I have been really disappointed. Haven’t been for a while so thought we would try again. The Sunday menu is very reduced and the food was very disappointing. I shouldn’t be surprised as it’s chef and brewer but the roast potatoes looked like the frozen ones from a bag. My husband had burger and chips and there were about 10 chips on the plate. When he asked for more we were charged for another portion.The service was fine and the serving staff were friendly. Definitely won’t be going back anytime soon.

A greater difference to our last visit before Christmas just couldn't be imagined. Ally kept a close but discreet eye on all twelve of us, the food was great, the service was perfect. 10/10 all round.

I'm a single guy and had a flavour for a Sunday roast, even though you were fully booked I was able to grab a table for 1.5hr to enjoy lunch. I can't thank Callum enough.

Our waitress Karen was so friendly and helpful. She made us feel at home right away. Food was pretty good but not outstanding.

The food was excellent, we had the lamb shank shepherds pie which was very tasty, Karen our server was great, very welcoming and friendly nothing was too much trouble.

Kind, friendly, attentive and discreet staff (Leah), swiftly delivered our orders which were delicious. We had the camembert sharing starter and the lamb shank Shepherds Pie - both cooked to mouth watering perfection.

Lovely Pub/Restaurant, lovely atmosphere, depending of what you choose from the menu, I definitely would not recommend the Salmon Fish Cake, with cream cheese with running egg, and rocket, It was absolutely Awful, just consisted of a very small burnt up piece of fish cake, maybe half a teaspoon of dried up salmon with nothing else. In it ,I've had salmon florintine before which was lovely but was told this was off the menu?.

very limited menu, and the food was poor quality. Average pub grub at restaurant prices. No heating in the restaurant which made it uncomfortable . don't think I'd go again.

I went there with my family for my birthday. Food was really good and the atmosphere was lovely. Karen did an amazing job and looked after us really well. I recommend The Bull and will definitely go there again.

The outside, gives a sense of a warm welcome to all, I side, is as or close to, as it was years ago, with a warm country feel, staff greet you with a friendly smile, you don't usually have to wait around long to be seated, washroom facilities are clean and adequate, the atmosphere inside, is warm and relaxing, staff are helpful in seating you where you eould like to go, inserting area is attainable, busy no way, food is cooked to a high standard, and tast delish, as you say, from start to finish, staff will cater for your every need, and work heard to cover all their area in efficient time, so your not waiting too long, tips are optional, but worth giving for the heard work the waitress and waiters do.

waited ages for our booked table on Boxing day. nearly three quarters of an hour. Waited ages again for our meal once we were seated almost an hour. There were 7 of us 3 had prawns which were hard. Burgers were burnt, unable to eat, roast was ok but not that nice, ordered dish not available, seeing as you have to send order of your choice from menu in a few weeks before they should know how many dishes they need, Thought we heard they had run out of turkey, we weren’t the only ones complaining , kids pizza was a frozen chicago soggy one. The best thing was the dessert of brownies. Very disappointing

This is the second year running we’ve eaten at the Bull on Christmas Day. It’s so much better getting someone else to do all the cooking so we can enjoy the day and gain precious time back with the children. Not to mention you pulled the stops out this year with gifts for the children and entertainment for them. Karen our waitress was very attentive to our needs and the dinner was yummy. Thank you for nailing it once again.

The experience was disappointing. We waited over an hour for our food, which arrived cold. After sending it back, it was still served cold for all five of us. We raised the issue, and the manager handled the situation well, which we appreciated. However, the restaurant seems to have declined in quality since the new management took over.

We had a fabulous Christmas Day meal at The Bull. From the minute we walked through the door to be greeted by Adam and then from all the waiting staff, the serivce was special. The food was EXCEPTIONAL. I honestly cannot believe the quality considering the amount that must be getting cooked in the kitchen that day. Honestly 10/10.

Food was small portions for the price and cold once finally served. Multiple food options not available. Would be fine for harvester prices but not what they currently charge. Table not ready when booked and slow service to table is really not great with young children. Female toilets completly closed. Shame as going down hill each time we visit.

We went for Christmas lunch and it was a lovely experience. There was a warm welcome and a festive vibe. The staff were really great too. Leah was our waitress, really lovely and she was attentive without rushing us. The Christmas food was lovely and would definitely consider it again for next year.

It's a great pub; we were served by Leah who is our favourite waitress. We ordered a large Sunday Roast, it was very tasty. However my son is a very picky eater so she kindly provided an extra plate so that I could put the food that he likes on a separate plate, so that the bits he didn't want, we could add to our meal. She is always very friendly, empathetic and always tentative to customers. She deals with customers so that they feel at home. Adam, the manager works tirelessly, supporting the staff and getting involved in the hands on work in the bar and restaurant. Both Adam and Leah are known well by regular customers as they are so welcoming. They remember their needs and preferences. The pub and food served has substantially improved with Adam in charge. Please pass this on to Leah and Adam.

Had a nice meal. The Turkey roast was smaller than previous years, felt they were being a bit stingy. The service was very good, friendly, polite, fast but not too fast. We were served by a lovely lady Ally. The food was very tasty.

A combination of great food and quality service. Return here with friends and colleagues many times because of these two reasons. Most recently our large party was waited on by Karen who continued that great level of service we found there.

The Bull is a local for us. We go there now and then, usually after we take the kids for a walk over in Hockley Woods. One thing that is a constant is the great service. Every time we've been, Calum has been serving at the till/behind the bar. He's always kind, courteous and has such a nice manner. Tip top service as always. The food is great too!

Always fast friendly service. Food is great . Tried the rib of beef for the first time as you were out of pork and turkey. It was lovely

Good food and atmosphere. We were served by Karen who was lovely and very good. We did wait nearly an hour between starters and mains but we understood as it was Christmastime

Made a reservation really easily via website. Table for four and time available for when we wanted to eat. Food arrived well presented and freshly cooked. Great service from Tracey and we had a great dinner! Totally recommend.
