The Rayleigh Weir in Rochford

A three-generational Saturday lunch. We all enjoyed the food and the ambiance and had great service from Steph who dealt patiently with dietary requirements and children changing their minds. Nothing was too much bother for her.

Had a lovely meal and was served by a lovely waitress named Steph. Very nice atmosphere and food. Would recommend as a lovely Harvester.

There are a lot of options on the menu which is good and I like the salad cart and rolls. Liked the 3 or 2 course menu. The portions have got smaller and the prices are higher. The chips with a main adult meal are child size. The food isnt that great either to be honest, not overly enjoyable. We were in the restaurant far too long, we had to wait quiet a while for everything, to sit, to get drinks, to get bowls, to get ordered then wait too long for food, desert menu etc..... the wait times inbetween everything were way too long.

We came for my dads 80th birthday, the food was fantastic and was very speedy, we had excellent service from Grace, she was lovely and very efficient.

Booked a table with little notice, greeted warmly and our waiter Callum brought our food quickly with no fuss. A lovely young man who was polite, attentive but not overly so, just what you want. Food was good.

Great atmosphere especially when getting served by very friendly bar staff. Great restaurant and very good food and nice beer. Clean and tidy place to eat out. And was very impressed by getting served by Meg at the bar. She was very polite and pleasant when ordering food and drinks

Went for a quick meal at Harvester, salad was well stocked, food arrived promptly and our chef Emma cooked everything perfectly. Our server Lara was lovely and helpful. A really good experience as always.

The food is always cooked really well and salad cart always fresh, the service can be a little slow at times but I don't mind as the food is always great and hot, the chicken has never been dry and the chips always crispy and hot

Very helpful staff, good service but food not so good. I had fish and chips as very few options for me as cannot eat meat, cheese or cream. Fish was ok but bit dry. Chips are between fries and real chips but rock hard. Portions very small for the price which I consider expensive. Prices have soared. Won't be back despite staff being brilliant.

Felix was our server and Ben our chef. Very good service and top quality food. Just a little long on the wait times, however this is understandable considering the time of day and how busy they were. 100% recommend this harvester!

Good food, helpful and friendly staff

The food was terrible based on the Bird, Surf and Turf menu item. Chicken was very dry, rump steak too tough for any human and the 3 prawns were tiny -similar to a breaded prawn you get from Iceland (nothing wrong Iceland and their packs come in 12s). £20 was expensive for a plate of food with nothing good on it. The service was very good so paid for the meal. I have revised my score - as the Manager rightfully pointed out I did not give the staff feedback at the time, because they were so nice and I didn’t think anything could be rescued (but will never know). The fact that Martin took the time to respond reflects the good service and care of the staff. Shame about my meal but and hopefully doesn’t represent other’s experience.

Regularly visit here with my daughter who loves the pancakes for breakfast. Our waitress Lara was great once again this Morning making sure we had a constant supply of refills of tea and the food as normal was lovely. Thank you.

Mothers Day was a disappointment. All 6 of us we not impressed with the quality of the food across the board. The ribs with honey apparently tasted as though they were boiled and had poured honey over the top. My chicken burger tasted like reconstituted chicken flavoured Jelly, it was 'Bouncy' to chew. The Salad Bar was very good and the various sauces were also good. Sad really as the staff were excellent and very helpful.

Excellent service, as always, from Felix, who understands his customers and seems to be able to pre-empt your needs. Attentive and professional, nothing is too much trouble for him. Definitely makes the dining experience more enjoyable - thank you.

Lara was our waitress and our chef was Kelly. We had a birthday on the table which we got a lovely plate and song for at the end of our meal. We also had a celiac dine on our table and they handled the allergy very seriously and efficiently. Great night, great service and great food

The waitress was very slow taking our order . We had already waited hour and 15mins to get the table and had to ask near the time given . I asked twice if we could order to other staff . She gave us salad bowls but as we had not eaten there before , it would have been helpful to tell us where salad bar was ! Didn't find her very attentive or friendly ! So after meal just paid and left thinking not the best . Prices quite expensive for amount of food . Won't be returning thanks ! Plus food left on chair but waitress took so long coming to us so I had to wipe the chair clean before sitting down !

Food was good, service came with a bad attitude and one male waiter smelled like he hadn’t washed for a long time, was awful!! Served quickly but starters came out too fast, we hadn’t even been up to the salad bar. Then main course arrived before finishing our starters too which is unacceptable in a restaurant environment

So today, Thurs 7th March, 2024, we visited Harvester, husband & i. Last visit food was poor but hubbies was ok. I've been ill for 2wks and just thought, nice salad, hubby suggested Harvester. Ok i said, i'm just up for salad. When we got there, 2.30pm, was a few people in but not busy. We ordered off lunch menue. 2 courses £13.49 each. I decided to try scampi & chips. Hubby had 7oz Gammon steak. Got to say both meals were deliscious. What let it down was service. Our waiter was either behind bar talking or nowhere to be seen. We waited forever to order, then forever to get dessert. We gave up with paying and had to go to bar in the end to pay. The restaurant was empty by this time with just 1 guy sitting in bar area. We will not be going back to Rayleigh Weir Harvester! EVER!

Quite busy, had to wait 30 min for a table so decided to leave. Worth booking a table, however I just arrived at the hotel.

Visit was same as always. Still very cold , had to leave the coats on, one woman had coat over her legs! Food was hot however. Place is ok but do not expect a lot and not value for money without offers!

We always enjoy our visits to Harvester in Rayleigh, Essex. The food is tasty and the servings are good. Our server this evening, named Tiff was attentive, good humoured and very helpful. We look forward to our next visit .

Been here quite a few times when in the area, service and food always good but this time it was a disappointment.The restaurant was quiet yet service was slow, we both ordered the half rotisserie chicken when they arrived the chicken was dry (we took most of it home for the dog) During the meal we could smell burning due to the contractors working outside, the staff did their best to alleviate the situation which resulted in the door being opened which made the restaurant cold.Only positive things to say the staff are polite and friendly. Just a shame the food and contractors work let it down.

Not enough staff, had to send my jacket potatoes back so over cooked, the next one was no better. We haven't been for a long time it will be a long time before we go again.

2 adults, 2 kids and a toddler for dinner on a rainy Tuesday evening. Lara looked after us very well indeed, she’s definitely a credit to the restaurant. Emma was our chef, and provided a delicious dinner in good time. Everyone enjoyed, even our fussy kids cleared their plates. It’s been a long time since we ate here, but based on this experience, we will be back on a regular basis. Thank you Lara and Emma!

Had a large party for my 60th birthday and our waiter Harry could not have been any more polite or helpful, he is a credit to the team.

Harry was a fantastic he took care of our whole group. Helped us with party preparations and was round very attentive.

Came for a 60th birthday meal. Harry was incredible, we required a GF meal and he was incredibly helpful and catered to us very well. An absolute gem.

Great for those looking for a good choice of quality food at reasonable prices in a friendly atmosphere! We had Lara serving us, she was terrific, polite, friendly and very efficient! We waited and waited to be seated and told to find a table near the bar as restaurant area busy. After visiting the salad bar, we found that we still had no cutlery. The meals came but no condiments and both servings of fish were served with dry, hard, barely warm, reheated chips, mine with cold peas. The worse meal I have been served ever. The children's meals were acceptable and so was the rack of ribs. Finally had to find someone to bring the children their expected ice lollies This was meant to be a treat for my granddaughter and her children to repay her for her help, so did not want to spoil it by complaing. I have no wish to repeat this experience and certainly not to pay for it

Eat here every couple of weeks and usually the food is good, tonight was very different! Decided on the mixed grill, left the chicken, left the gammon, steak was chewy and the rice was under cooked and tasted awful. The saving grace was Megan! Absolutely superb team member, friendly, chatty, polite, everything you want from your waiter/waitress.

The waitress was very nice and she gave great service. However I haven't been to harvester for a while, I was shocked at the prices. Meals that were £15 - £20 are now £25+ The value for money is terrible. The salad bar is tiny now compared to what it used to be. I highly doubt I'll ever go back, food was average.

Had the bird, surf and turf. The steak was very tough and I had to send it back. The waitress Lara, who served me, was very understanding and replaced the steak. She was very apologetic and provided great service.

Staff all good, selection of drinks and foods good as well, however the size of the food portion have certainly got significantly smaller while the prices contine to rise. My Chicken combo had 3 tiny peices of chicken and a few chips, it resembled a child's dinner for sure, whilst charging £17 for maybe £3 worth of chicken and chips. Not good.

The food was delicious and the service was great. However, there is a large section of the restaurant that has no heating. We had to keep our coats on the whole time but we were still cold. The manager informed us that Harvester will not repair the heating. Totally ruined what should have been an enjoyable family meal.

Great food, quick but still cooked perfectly. Meg on the bar was friendly whilst we waited for our table, we were a little early. Salad bar topped up and fresh too, our favourite part. Best Harvester in the area for sure!

We had a lovely family dinner with Lara as our waitress, she was fantastic and very attentive, even with our very loud and chaotic big group! Thank you for a lovely meal Lara! Only reason my review is 4 stars and not 5 is my steak was overcooked but nothing to do with the service at all, I didn’t ask to send it back and it was lovely anyway!

We got seated quickly by a lovely waitress but when we sat down we found several pieces of half eaten bread on the floor under our table which was unpleasant. This used to be a cheap family restaurant but the prices have increased and can no longer be justified with the quality of food you receive. £20 for a cut of steak that was a tough, cheap piece of meat. The mushroom was burnt flat and thin and they also forgot my onion rings. On a positive note - scampi was nice, and you always get a big portion of chips here. The salad bar is great for the kids, but it’s always a nightmare with so many people trying to use it at once and people lurking around waiting for the pasta to be refilled. We ordered two children’s pizzas but after all of our food came out one of the pizzas was missing. We waited 20 minutes for it to finally come out and by then we were halfway through our food as we didn’t want it to get cold. The waitress was nice and took it off our bill as an apology. After eating, we waited 30 mins and we had to actively call someone over to get the dessert menu. We then had to call them over again since no one seemed to be checking on our table and when we asked how long desserts would be we got told 5 minutes - it took about 30. Dessert was good.
