What a joke, was asked for ID we are over 50 we said, as we turned to walk way one said ok you can come in. Didn't ask where we were from but said I will need to sreach you. On going in was told underwhelmed with two tables of about 12 people, for a Friday night thats got to be poor. Having ordered our drinks about 5min after being in there a security come up to me and said, you have a hoodie on your have to tuck it in, unbelievable, as he starred to do so, I just took the thing off. So having been made to feel unwelcome and with now even less people in there we left. On doing so talking to the guard, i said who said i had a hoodie on, his answer someone watches the cameras, Jesus get a live. We headed over the road to Spoons (youth club) but at least there were people in side and staff that greeted did so with a hello and a smile. So won't be going back the door, and if they carry on it will be a board up door. And as the one star is Hated it, that's spot on🌟 Go to the Crown 👑 Spoons 🥄 or the newly owned Craftwerk it's an old toilet block but it's more welcoming.

Right, I want the governor of this establishment to stop charging anyone!. You will earn more money letting well established people earning money! I'm not 18 anymore and never going to pay to go in a pub/bar. And with the cost of living, you are denying anyone over 18 to have fun. Your security and bar staff are brilliant. I spent money in your gaff, and I paid to get in £6/person. Will not be paying again. Hope you are happy with your £6 quid. This place is a safe venue with great staff, great security, and if parents youngest want to come here they will be safe and enjoy. But? The greed of the owners or owner, Is ridiculous at this moment in time. Cost of living, greedy man or woman or family. I spent money but not again unless he changes his greedy outlook. I told the @Spread Eagle to do one with an Arton Senna. You have a brilliant establishment with a mixture of ages and you charge? I'm 46, and I will not pay to go into a bar pub because I'm not 18 anymore. I'm an adult with money to spend but not on your door. You have a great place. After the owners review, I suppose it's better not to turn up at all and spend your money elsewhere!

Me and my wife went to go here yesterday I’m 30 and she 29 and wasn’t aloud entry because of our postcode absolute joke won’t be trying to go there again.

I’ve been coming to the red door for quite some time now. When speaking to bouncer last night he acknowledged how frequent i have been going to the door. It’s very upsetting when you’ve given and business your support and money and then they discriminate against because of where you live. It’s absolutely disgusting to not allow an individual in based on where they live. I completely understand if you are having problems with certain people but this is the problem with bars around this area they don’t stick to banning a person. I understand not letting somebody in because of there actions but to discriminate and not allow somebody in because of a postcode i’ve never seen anything like it. I’m not surprised it was so empty last night! My friend got told she could not come because she was born in Basildon. She lives in port smith for University and came down the weekend to see all her friends (she was sober and driving as she doesn’t drink). They bouncers apologised and we completely understand it is not there fault they are only doing there job. But management might want to rethink this because you are 100% losing business. I went into the speak to the bar mananger last night and there was a grand total of about 10/15 people inside. I wont be going again! The discrimination is absolutely appalling!!

I do not normally write reviews but I was in utter shock when I arrived at The red door to see they have banned multiple postcodes from entering if they are under 30. I’m not sure if this is even legal but it is definitely discriminative. I would re look at this if I was the owner as this can cause more issues than resolving any.

When this first opened the cocktails were amazing! Mature bar staff service you too. However, he is obviously making more money from the teenagers that go to party and get rat arsed on a Friday night, by serving the cheapest alcoholic drinks. Ordered a cosmopolitan and this was made up from the alcohol that was in an unidentified glass bottles behind bar. Tasted like I was drinking a sugar loaded fruit juice. Disgusting!! You need to get bar staff in that know what they're doing regards to making drinks, and not someone who looks like a 12 year old behind the bar. Especially when you're charging £10 a cocktail!!! They're obviously working for a pittance. Until there's a major change I will not be going back. Such a shame!

Place is not what it used to be, used to love the red door. Used to be a classy venue, not anymore. Full of 18 year olds. Venue must be desperate for custom, as they've dropped their standards of clientele and just seem to let anyone off the street in. Bar staff didn't have a clue what they're doing. Overpriced cloakroom. Everything about this Place is bad - avoid!

This place is an absolute joke the price they charge for drink preying on young drunk people.( to clarify I was not drunk and certainly not young 🤣) We went in and was charged £21.50 for 2 drinks that’s right 2 drinks!! I live local in hockley and I’ve never know anything like it only in the west end of London! I also heard from others that was moaning that they charge if you wear trainers also after 11 the price of drinks goes up so I can’t imagine what my 2 rum and cokes would cost then but we swiftly left … the place is also tiny with sticky floors so not like your paying for scenery or service I can’t see them being open very long at all. I’m still in shock 3 days later 🤦🏻‍♂️ STAY CLEAR.

They want to charge £7 for entry after 11 which considering how much drinks are they are having a laugh, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else, needless to say we didn’t go in

Very bad first experience with this place. On arrival met with a speech of how all of the people I was with and my clothing was unacceptable (t-shirt and jeans with platform trainers) and we will be let in this once, I can only assume this is due to it not being too busy. My order was a whisky and diet coke which amounted to £10.90 and some of the others had birra Moretti coming to near £7 each. I have no issue with this price if the experience that comes with it is reflective but it isn't. If you wanted to be cramped in a corner, have little atmosphere and your wallet emptied this may be your destination for everyone else , do yourself a favour and head across the road to the wetherspoons

Went there fri 10th was served by young kids didn't have a clue when we asked for our drinks one took the money and one ruined our drinks and charged 10.50 for 1 vodka and bottle of beer hot beer and flat coke .total shambles never again.

Ridiculously bad management. Not allowing you in with £200 trainers because they are white but allowing £30 black scuffy converse trainers. Makes no sense and an utter embarrassment

Additional surcharge if you don't comply to a made up dress code. Everywhere suggests it is casual wear allowed but white trainers/converse are not casual and you have to pay an additional £2 for the privilege of the clothes you wear, laughable! £10 entry after 11 to a bar is beyond a joke. Avoid this place if you want a good casual night out. 2 stars as they have a good selection of drinks and the toilets were clean and spacious.

I'm not a big fan. Mainly due to the clientele. The bar staff were happy to ply the customers with drink, even when they have had too much

last visit in november was great, was able to bring a small child and small dog with us 👍 Looked up internet on Monday to find a lunch menu, found reviews for lunch, double checked it was open, made the journey from east London and the place was closed! The sign outside said it opened at 5pm! Who has lunch at 5?! Very confused and disappointed and frustrated! Ended up at mcdonalds drive-thru due to the dog 🐶 Great. 😐 And the website still says it is open when it isn't 😡

What a great find this was! We went with friends and had the most delicious roast I’ve had in a long time. The meat was succulent the roast potatoes were lovely and crispy and the veg cooked to perfection, the Yorkshire pudding 2nd to none! Extensive drinks menu with some very nice wines. The owner and staff couldn’t do enough for us. Lovely ambience and last but not least it’s dog friendly, what more could you ask for? We will definitely be going back to sample the rest of the menu and their deserts which we didn’t have room for because we were so full! Well done to all at The Red Door.

Had Sunday lunch at the red door rayleigh. As always it’s a lovely dinner, veg al dente. Staff very attentive can’t fault the place. Nice laid back music and pleasant surroundings

****BE WARNED**** I was the the Friday DJ for them for over a year, they was 'ok' until the first friday after New year's eve (Jan 5 2018) It was quieter than normal - as you can expect! and I was sent an email asking if everything was ok, because they didn't get my usual dj performance?? I explained the reasons behind this (house lights being left on til late, tables and chairs on the dance floor, house music not being turned off so I can start etc) With all residencies I dj at being the new year my prices went up, to cover costs and overheads for the following year. Now Leo at the red door didn't like the fact I put my prices up and asked me to go in for a meeting ((there's was no need for a meeting, not when I live 25 miles away)) He wanted to discuss my email (which I will happily show anyone if they ask to see it) but the email was just basically saying the reasons why my dj performance my usual self was because house lights were still on at 10.30pm, furniture on dance floor, and the in house music was still playing at 10.30pm) This was back in Jan 5th 2018 (it's now march 3rd 2018) and I've still not been paid. Invoices have been sent and received, and I no longer dj for them and have no intention to work for a company that doesn't pay. I started posting some facts on my personal social wall and Leo (the owner of the RED DOOR) felt the need to message me with some unpleasentary words - I ignored it, and then he started messaging my wife!!! Again pics can be provided for proof. I requested the money again and they said they wanted a meeting with me.... ??? (Why??) So I said ok, but they will have to pay for my time, and I said I would attend the meeting if they agreed to pay me for my time first. I didn't hear back, I then sent a recorded letter giving them 7 days to pay this invoice of £140 for DJ services on 5th Jan 2018 - The letter was received & they have failed to pay me, and so now It's going to court.

We went there on a Friday night. Reminded me of a student union bar, sticky spilt drink on the dance floor, oddly disappointing mix of dance tunes with Witney Houston closely followed by Stormzy! A reasonably friendly vibe and moderate drink prices.

Apart from the smell of bleach when we first arrived it was good. Service was pleasant and quick. Food was decent and there was a nice atmosphere.

The bar itself has been done up to a very nice standard, the decor is lovely to have as your surroundings when sitting having a drink. Unfortunately though it seems to lack any personality we found, it looks like a London bar but without any of the buzz. The bar staff did not seem to really suit the establishment and didn't seem overly happy to be working there. Also, even though it lacks the London buzz, they still charge the London prices, the drink prices are more than that of establishments to the same standards in surrounding areas and there was a lack of much variety in choices of what to drink, the food was also overpriced for its lack of attention and quality. Wouldn't be in a hurry to go back tbh.

Great service. Food slightly overpriced but one of the more modern pubs to visit in Rayleigh. They have coffee and desserts! Super clean toilets. Nice cocktails. Recommended!
