I went for breakfast with a friend, arrived at 11am, went to the counter to order and got told that breakfast wasn't be served any longer, even though it states "served till 11.30" So I asked if I could order a sandwich as was told that they couldn't take any food orders as they didn't have the capacity as they still had lots of breakfasts to deliver!!! Also, when and if I could order there would be an hours wait. So my friend and I got up and left. I won't be going back there and I won't be recommending the nursery to others. I would recommend the Hockley Tea Garden instead, we were greeted by a friendly, smiling waitress, all day breakfast on their menu. The drinks and food were delivered in a timely manner

I often cycled past this little place & the coffee has always smelt nice & the food looked great so took my mum for a light lunch & what great friendly service & made to feel so welcome, we both had panini’s which were lovely with plenty of filling & crisps & a latte, very nice & will definitely be going back again so well done Gossip staff X

A lovely atmosphere. The owner must be a decent person. Apart from perhaps selling the false grass that we walk on the Bean Machine and play area can not make a fortune Thank you Mr Geoffrey.

I've lived in the Southend area for nearly 53 years and knew of this pub only because a friend lives near but never eaten or drunk here until today on my 8 mile return walk from Rochford to Hockley. I had a pit stop on the way and back at this pub, coffee on the way, there and an amazing well deserved roast on the way back. The staff were helpful, polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. She even accepted my loose change as part payment for my coffee. I had a beetroot and squash tart with all the trimmings (yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, brocolli, peas, carrots and plenty of gravy) instead of the beef roast as they had unfortunately run out, but it was extremely tasty, well cooked and definitely needed. I would recommend this local, friendly pub for the great food and service. So glad I stopped there. Will be visiting again!
