Exhibition Inn in Rochford

Spent Christmas day here with the family. Atmosphere was lovely and warm, food was great and really good value. They took all the hassle away and was just as special as being at home (especially being in front of a log fire!).

Went on a Sunday afternoon, chose the Sunday roast, was disappointed with the roast potatoes and vegetables, felt like they had been cooked and kept warm. Have been previously, and meal has been spot on. Hope this was just a blip...

Saturday lunch time. My friend had a cheese ploughman’s and I had a bacon and mushroom omelette with peas and chunky chips. We both loved our choices and weren’t disappointed. It was as described, nothing fancy, exactly as expected from the description. Would definitely recommend and will return ourselves.

After spending money on few drinks and meal was humiliated at table by rude barmaid who insisted on charging for drink I did not order or want. Drink was handed back and owner didn’t give a damn despite us being regular customers. What poor customer service and bad business management. Estimated annual spend on food and drink in excess of £700 just lost! Also will inform others of bad experience so more money lost……foolish attitude!

How refreshing to find a local pub that offers home made high standard food at a very reasonable price. So many restaurants and pubs are ripping off the public by charging higher prices for 3 star plastic food. In the current climate where the general public are finding it a luxury to eat out.This establishment is one of very few that provides people with value for money. I rarely write reviews but this pub deserves a well earned 5 star review.

Had a roast lamb Sunday dinner delivered. Food was lovely, it arrived hot, the vegetables were all fresh and the portion size was excellent. All in all a proper 'home cooked' Sunday roast which I will definitely be having again. Compliments to the chef!

My x mas food was a disaster staf are all rude food was nasty booked for 51t never sat down till 715 food was late all late out not a good place never would I go to this rude pub again

This used to be such a lovely pub with great atmosphere & fabulous food. My husband & I have been going there for about 35 years & have never been disappointed until today. We both ordered the steak & ale pie which we have had many times previously & it’s always been the best we’ve ever had. However, the meat was inedible for me as it was so hard & chewy & the ale was non existent. Even my husband couldn’t plough his way through it. I asked for carrots instead of peas but apparently there was no time to peel or cook them as they now do “Just Eat” & were busy with that. The barmaid asked if we could go have a discount but she was told we couldn’t although we hadn’t actually asked for money off anyway but it would have been a nice gesture instead of the don’t care attitude. It won’t be somewhere we visit much now & I definitely won’t be ordering that pie again. We are 2 very disappointed loyal customers.

arrived at the exhibition Inn for a Sunday roast but my sister forgotten to say we were in camper a lady met us called kassie and told me we will get you in to carpark and u will get a roast , there is parking across the road from the pub as well if full , kassie was a brilliant host and we had a carvery with mixed meats and paid the extra. kassie so helpful she is worth her weight in gold in this establishment, Sat at a table totally relaxed before heading back to middlesex Heathrow thankyou kassie true gem highly recommend Sunday roast 10 out 10 stars

Just had whitebait followed roast beef and roast lamb - ordered and delivered via just eat - came on time and was delicious as always - 1st just eat order and I'll do it again! Thanks to all at the exhibition 😀

Had a great roast dinner. Best one I have had in a long time. the pancakes with black cherries were to die for. Staff were very friendly. Very helpful as I am a wheelchair user.

Been before but over two years ago what with lock down. Food is still good but they have changed to a sports bar. Very noisy when we went about 4 pm. I must say it’s run down and grubby, the glasses stuck to all the tables, the cutlery wasn’t too clean and glasses smeary! Even though the food was good the other things will stop us returning. A shame!

Popped in late on a Sunday afternoon for a roast dinner and a beer with my dog... I haft to say the lady serving was friendly n helpful and made me very welcome.. I will certainly return again as I enjoyed my meal :-). Thankyou

Poor food , shame one young man running to and from bar trying to serve customers inside and out , definitely lacks staff and felt it was a let down from expectations , one customer asked where the garnish to there order was , ie salad picture shows what was given after asking for garnish

Had a lovely time, the staff were excellent, the starters and dessert were lovely the only thing was the meat for the main was not very tasty and very thin. Other than that, a great Sunday dinner and the prices were good too.

A very pleasant pub, relaxing and comfortable, the atmosphere is very good and warm, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is excellent, would certainly recommend 😀.

Starters , main courses and puddings for 4 people, (2 couples) normally at least one of the will find something to moan about, whether it's the food, the service, the delay etc etc. Well people, I can tell you that this was one of those times where we were all happy. Good food, served well and on time and a reasonable price. This place must be one of Wakering's best kept secrets. Well done the Exhibition, we will return!

Sorry food really disappointing, took some old school friends there and was embarrassed with the food, wine and beers were okay so that kinda made up for the food. We had a good afternoon but won't rush back, sorry.

Very disappointed at the quality of the real ale and a very poor range. Lager drinkers pub ... Pity as very nice food reasonably priced and a great venue well decorated clean and inviting.

this was our second visit to the exhibition this year just like last time last time couldn`t fault anything . there was 4 of us celebrating my wife`s birthday we all had starters all good the mains all good i would recommended the beef roast dinner [ with the famous gravy ] so thank you all and good luck for the future . special thanks from me for the lad behind the bar for keeping my pint glass full .

Great visit to the exhibition, friendly staff and lovely food. Couldn't ask anything more of Cassie or Brad. Really good service, sat in the restaurant area which had a lovely open fire place. Cassie was great with our 2 year old, safe to say we will coming back again soon.

The Exhibition has been totally refurbished and is to be totally honest still serving the very best home made food you will find in any pub or restaurant anywhere around, we have just come back after lockdown etc to find the place is looking fabulous and the food is just as wonderful !!!!!.......such friendly staff, the new owners have done so much to this place and deserve success, and one bonus is that the prices of their food is astounding !!!!....no rip offs here, no add ons, no supplements, I cannot praise this place highly enough, if you want a lunch, dinner or just a snack look no further than the Exhibition, thank you all for providing somewhere to go to eat fabulous food at a price everyone can afford.......see you all again soon !!!!!!!

We have been here a few times over recent weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed every meal. The menu has everything you would want from a pub. Sandwiches, baked potatoes, wraps, burgers, pies, fish, salads and lots more. The prices are also very reasonable, made even better by the governments’ scheme this month. The service is very good and all the staff are friendly and efficient.

My parents who live nearby to the pub went today for dinner & commented on how lovely the pub & restaurant look after the recent referbishment. And their meal was also lovely, with friendly, professional service. Looking forward to visiting soon with the whole family for a meal.

Not very welcoming . Felt like we were intruding. Table in pool room was absolutely filthy and the sofas were too also need replacing. Well worn and tatty. Food was disappointing

Nice traditional pub. Wooden floor boards and all. I think the barmaid needs a day off though, she's been there 19 years!

Always been a visitor of The Exy. One of the best village pubs and always great quality home cooked food, love the pancakes here too!. The menu hasn't changed much over the years, but why improve upon what's already good right? Sundays you have to prebook your table, and I like that you can set up a tab. This review is based on the restaurant side and not the lounging area with pool and TV for sports, of which is perfect for its needs.

Fantastic roast home cooked can be a bit rowdy if sport is on and decor and tables could do with an upgrade but the best food and in summer lovely to sit in the garden

Came along to see "Mischief" who we've seen before. Lovely attentive bar staff and a lovely sandwich at a reasonable price. Ale choice not very exciting but plenty of choice of drinks available. Not sure two doors should've been locked before close especially on such a busy night.

Go here quite a lot defiantly best pub in the village, food is amazing and great choice of drinks, the cocktail bar at the bottom of the garden is so nice on summer days. Atmosphere is amazing and the band's karaoke nights are spot on to. Would defiantly recommend !!

After reading some new reviews we were a bit dubious this time in visiting. It was our 35th Wedding Anniversary and as it was a beautiful day and a Sunday we chose the Exhibition for Sunday Lunch.Well we have been so many times, taken friends and also taken our dogs twice inside and about three times outside with no trouble at all.Well I booked a table for two but as it was such a nice day, I rang them before and told them that as we were bringing our dogs again, we would sit outside and if anyone wanted a table to let them have it.Now you can check our reviews, we are always the most considerate dog owners and are always welcomed. We always buy our dogs a meal, that I distribute on our own plates, with our own towels down, our own cutlery and we always choose a table out of the way so we do not interfere with other diners. We arrived early to get our usual table out of the way and my husband went and ordered drinks.Then when we arrived I took 2 of our dogs round the garden and into the pub just slightly to have a look around as there was nobody dining. They were both not on leads, but as one is completed disabled due to Spondylitis and Displasia he can not walk very well, the other dog is so well behaved she does not move far from my side. Well we just walked in and had a quick look around, there was no body in the bar area, so I thought this would be okay.Well, the lady who I can only describe as the "larger" lady.... came over and proceeded to say, that in a little while the other diners were bringing in dogs and did we need leads. I said no, we had leads, but I felt sadly that this was a dig at us. I told her, that as my dog was sadly now reaching the last of his days, I wanted to let him have a little wander but we had leads and we were going out now. Once again, there was nobody in the restaurant.I felt this was completely inappropriate, why say that, they had been well behaved, not moved an inch from my side or anything, I do understand some dog owners are irresponsive as are people with children, but what harm had they done and why the comment.The last couple of times, we have watched this said lady go through the doors and smoke like a chimney then come back and handle drinks and food, yet we didn't get snide or anything.Well, we had an average couple of Sunday Dinners this time, usually we have dessert and a couple of drinks, by I did not want to stay any longer. We cleared up, left the place as we have found it and went home.As we went through the gates, we noticed the pub was still empty and she was still sat there smoking.I can totally understand if our dogs had been a nuisance but every time we have visited the only dogs that were causing a commotion was the landlords who yap all the time.Shame, but hey that's fine..... you don't need our business, we can go elsewhere.

Just got back from having a meal with family for my 50tt my parents often come here and always say how nice it i is and how nice LES is the owner and even came over to see my mum how false.my son went to the bar and heard him say I like to say to us piss off and my mum takes for ever to eat I do realise you have people waiting for our table my mum has ms and in a wheelchair and struggles. I would not say anything to my dad because he loves to bring my mum to get her out. Very unprofessional and you are the owner think you should be careful what you say iat the bar!!!!

Great family run pub with great atmosphere, fantastic for either a night out or just a chilled dinner.

This really is one of the very few pubs you will find that does GREAT home cooked food, we visit the Exhibition regularly as the food is exceptional, plentiful and less than you will pay in nearly all other pubs etc, great menu offering nearly everything one could want and the staff are lovely, Les has been there for many years and his wife Evie does the cooking and they know how to run a pub as they are so friendly and welcoming, other staff Sam and Sian are also a delight, cosy surroundings, dog friendly and in the summer there is a garden outside you can enjoy the food and drink, we live in Leigh but have to travel the few miles to Wakering as no pub in our vicinity does home cooked food and most restaurants are not as good as the Exhibition, and neither of the above can compete with the prices...THANK YOU ALL AT THE EXHIBITION FOR BEING THERE !!!!!......SEE YOU SOON !!!!!!!

My daughter recently required a new double bed. As most outlets charge over £50 for delivery I suggested that she try Essex Beds in Southend on sea, Essex. When we visited the shop we were surprised at the amount of beds on view. We chose one for £499.00 by Wheatcroft Memory. A delivery date was selected and the bed was delivered as per agreement. The delivery men were very helpful. My daughter was so pleased with the bed that we decided to order the same bed. Again delivered as per agreement at no charge. We are very pleased at the whole experience. We would give this company five stars. I had to call them back and as the Southend shop phone was engaged I called the Hadleigh shop. I found the lady there very pleasant to talk to and very helpful.

We had Sunday lunch for 12. We were left waiting about half hour for our table which was slightly annoying. A couple of the food orders were slightly incorrect, but this could be due to the spokesperson not ordering correctly.The food however was superb. Very reasonably priced, large portions. No one was disappointed.Maybe service was a bit slow due to the size of our party, but we would definitely recommend.We would not hesitate to eat here again!

Surprisingly good and well priced.

I will keep this review short and sweet but also truthful. 6 of us went to the Exhibition inn for a birthday meal and it still cannot be beaten. There were at least 4 different food choices from our table of 6 and all meals came out together and were very large in portion size and freshly cooked. I personally had the T bone steak and it was cooked to my perfection. I will admit that it's an old style spit and sawdust pub which can get very loud during the course of the evening but if you want great home cooked, fresh food, you can't beat it.

Had the Sunday roast- choice of beef or chicken. The chicken option is enormous- as pic shows- literally half a chicken! Amazing value for money and a cosy friendly feel. One of the few real English pub I have found recently.

Was taken here by my sister who is local to the village, was impressed with the menu with appeared to have a lot more than your typical, including multiple steaks up to 32oz, there are multiple areas to sit depending on your type of group eg family or friends or couples, including a separate sports area with pool table and chairs, food and drinks were very nice, helpful and friendly staff also, will definitely go again given the opportunity 10\10
