My birthday...my choice of venue for the celebrationary family meal. I love steak. Off to M&C we go...and were not disappointed with our evening. Great food..attentive service at the table, not cheap but the quality showed. If you love a good steal...I would suggest M&C every time.

Came in for lunch with my frien Mike and enjoyed the January set menu. Service from Anne was flawless as usual.

The whole experience was excellent, the food was great; steak cooked to perfection and the service was great. We opted for the 3 course deal and it did not disappoint, good selection of choices. Waitress was helpful and friendly.

18th birthday for our 18 year old son - his choice of where to eat - a large group of 16 people. Seated and looked after brilliantly by Chris, with our server Sharon making sure we were looked after perfectly. Wonderful food, fabulous service and an overall wonderful experience

Charlotte our waitress at Rayleigh was fantastic - she was friendly, efficient and attentive when needed! We ordered from the set menu £24.95 per person for 2 courses. I had cauliflower wings which were excellent and hubby had chicken wings also excellent. We couldn’t fault our steaks 7oz rump which were cooked exactly as we ordered and were very tender. Great selection of sauces for the steak and lettuce wedges and we both loved the chunky chips! We had no problem paying with the Quidco voucher. Thanks Rayleigh M&C we’ll definitely be back

Great service from SJ, she’s very personable. Great steaks, really melt in mouth. Great sides. (Mac and cheese, beef shin, greens, except chunky chips weren’t great, as were luke warm and so soft.) Starters also very good. Prawn cocktail, chicken wings, halloumi fries. As always the wedge salads were very fresh. Had a great visit.

Server took our order in good time but starters took ages to come out then the main course took another length of time. We were in the restaurant and hour before the main course arrived. When it did arrive the chips which we paid an extra £1 for were very few, I counted 12 and the side sauce was not quite cold but below room temp

Mixed views. We were waiting a staggering 40mins to get our first drink. We're not even offered our glass of Prosecco that comes with the menu. Had to ask for it. Following that we had to ask for drinks throughout, we were never just offered. One time we asked for drinks the girls face was like thunder. We felt Like we were a massive inconvenience. Every time we waited a good 20mins+ for drinks to arrive. They could have made so much more money for our table if it wasn't so dry. Food was nice enough for most of it, but cauliflower cheese was overcooked, dry and burnt. Dessert was left feeling it was short in the kitchen. We didn't finish eating until stupidly late as it felt they seemed more focused on serving the couples to turn them around than a large table. All in all we made the most but wasn't pleased with the service that night.

Best steakhouse restaurant! I've never been disappointed, despite several visits, they're the same: welcoming atmosphere, wonderfully delicious food and service, let's just say, I'd give it 6 stars if I could! We are back 200 percent!

New Year’s Eve menu food was superb three courses very busy but well organised food was delicious a bit of a discrepancy over pricing difference from near by tables but all agreed food was excellent.

Despite it being a busy Saturday on the run up to Xmas we were greeted warmly by the team. We were not rushed or hurried. Our steaks were cooked as ordered. Attentive, friendly server, without being intrusive. We had a lovely meal for a family birthday celebration.

Food was lovely, my steak was slightly overdone for my taste but nothing that made me want to return it. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant however I feel that the constant asking for us to leave a 5 star review on Facebook and Google became a little off putting, she even stood over us whilst we tried to do it. When Facebook didn't appear to be working she even went to get the manager and made me show her my phone to prove that it wasn't. It somewhat put a dampener on our evening.

Fantastic meal, everything was excellent, compliments to the chef and his co workers also our waitress Georgia, she was professional, attentive and very friendly. We will definitely be returning in the New Year.

It’s was my wife’s birthday meal and it was ruined! We had literally just started eating our starter when the waitress put our steak main course with sides on the table! Seriously how unprofessional and stupid is this especially as I believe this was an experienced waitress. We were then told the reason was because of the festive menu and large groups.and the chef didn’t want us waiting! Is this really a valid reason…..NO. Subsequently we had to rush our starter and our main courses and sides were cold. My wife’s steak was over cooked when ordered a medium. They did replace the meals but the night was already ruined. The replacement meals were hot but some of it was reheated and the steaks and fries were poor. The restaurant is seriously overrated, over priced, unprofessional service and below par produce. NEVER AGAIN. Hi Harry, We both had the lettuce wedge as our starter and they were delivered to the table first. The waitress was fully aware we wanted these as our starter hence why she gave the reason why the main meals were delivered so quickly! The waitress tried her best to rectify the evening but it had already been ruined and when second round of meals were returned, some of the food had just been reheated and was very disappointing especially the steak and fries. Overall it was an incredibly disappointing evening all round especially as it was my wife’s birthday meal. Kind regards Marc

The food was good. The service today was terrible.

A very good experience, although a bit on the pricey side. Back for another meal tonight. Good quality and service for a price. A further visit, and still very good overall quality

1. Food (steaks from a la carte menu) was good but MASSIVELY overpriced. Festive menu is a bit disappointing and also overpriced. There was literally no atmosphere, A bit like a Wetherspoons, but with more expensive food and drinks. 2. Drinks service appeared to struggle and was slow as the restaurant became more busy. 3. The whole ‘steak expert’ label thing is laughable and unnecessary. I suspect it’s probably embarrassing for the servers and is a pointless gimmick. 4. We were sat close to the main entrance and the reception phone was ringing regularly and taking time to be answered. A very annoying interruption, at least it wasn’t a rude and inconsiderate diner, but it might just as well have been.

Great service and food as always! Food was incredible, melt in your mouth! Our server, Natalie was brilliant, really friendly and welcoming…. Without prompting or asking organised a lovely birthday message for my special meal! Was brilliant! Will be back soon!

Excellent steak meal with friends. And very good to be able to choose from a gluten- free menu. If one thing could have been better, it would have been the king prawn cocktail - the prawns were good, but the marie rose sauce was poor, and it was served on plain iceberg only, in a 'bowl' plate thing with a stupidly wide rim, that tips over all the time.

Chloe served us well she was very polite and helpful she made our evening,she was very bubbly ,it was a pleasant evening thankyou Chloe for your great customer service and a friendly smile :)

Superb food and excellent service

We recently visited Miller and Carter at Rayleigh for a very special occasion—my family meeting my girlfriend’s family for the first time—and it couldn’t have been a more perfect experience. The service was absolutely incredible; the staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was truly top-tier—everything was cooked to perfection, and I couldn’t find a single thing to fault. What made the evening even more memorable was the kind gesture from the staff, who gave us a discount as we were celebrating such a unique and special event. It was a wonderful touch that added to the fantastic atmosphere and made the night feel even more special. I can’t recommend Miller and Carter highly enough for both the quality of the food and the exceptional service—it’s a place we’ll definitely return to for future celebrations!

Julie served us up a lovely 8oz 30-day aged fillet steak with thick-cut chips. Washed down with a Merlot and a pint of Doom-Bar to start. My lovely wife, the designated driver, had the plant-burger and fries. A lovely impromptu date-night.

We ordered the Sunday sharing platter and I was extremely disappointed. The steak and lamb were so full of fat I couldn’t eat it and the vegetables weren’t very warm either

We visited for a birthday lunch - 9 of us including 2 children, everything we wanted was available from the menu, the steak was cooked to perfection and every meal was presented beautifully. The drinks were amazing. I highly recommend Miller and Carter for their steaks and cocktails!! Our waitress went above and beyond to make our birthday lunch special - thank you Chanelle. Amazing team and very friendly and helpful nothing is too much especially with allergens they made sure everything was safe and the management took my order and brought it too me with the correct safety policy in place, I felt safe and defently recommend this place if anyone that suffers with allergen

On arrival the entrance was crowded they had obviously overbooked, there was home delivery people back and forth, and then we were placed in the bar area THAT IS NOT A RESTAURANT !! too close to the door bloody cold!

The food was the best part, albeit, some was barely warm and some was hot. Service was very slow. We had a reservation for 4:15pm, we didn’t get seated until 4:45pm then our mains did t arrive for another hour at 5:45pm. Which was disappointing. Hadn’t been to miller and carter for a couple of years, I was reminded why 😂 However, it was very busy so they must be doing something right.

Sharon was an amazing waitress. She was very polite and easy to order with (we have an allergy in our party). Crystal was also amazing when asking for extra bits and bringing our food to the table.

Food was good. Ordered a rare steak but seemed more medium rare, they forgot the sauce. The waitress was quite rude and didn’t have much knowledge about the menu. She got quite annoyed when we asked a question. We were told they were ready for us to pay. We felt very rushed out, and after spending over £100 for food & drink I didn’t feel like this wasn’t all that it’s hyped up to be.

As soon as we arrived Kira made us feel very welcome. The food and service were excellent. I was very happy to receive complimentary prosecco for myself and guests with my voucher from the app. It was a very good evening I can't wait to return again.

The food was amazing as always. I understand that it was very busy, although the location of our table was in the area of the dining room next to the bar area. I received a text an hour or so before arriving informing me there was no bar area or waiting area, so I was extremely disappointed that the number of people stood by the bar affected our experience. At one point it was so busy with people that I had to move our drinks away from that side of the table as they had nearly been knocked over a number of times by other patrons ordering drinks at the bar. It was also a struggle for the staff to manoeuvre around them, particularly with food. Have people standing over us and our food severely dampened our experience.

Entered looking forward to a 10/10 Sunday meal. Friendly staff on entering, seated quickly. Food portions definitely reduced, medium steak cooked rare with tiny serving of sauces. 2 Children on near by tables had their heads in their phones playing on full blast sound as did the 2 adults with them we just found it rude & loud. Another table near by allowed the children to cart wheel around the tables for 10 minutes which we found totally unacceptable! Could not relax. Looking around us upstairs people in tracksuits & sports wear surrounded us?Really for £140 meal & we felt like we was at the local harvester not a Miller & Carter (I wish staff would tell customers to control their feral offspring in restaurants) Gone down hill would not recommend. No goodbye when we left as the staff ignored an one leaving. We will be going else where from now on. A sad 3/10

We had a table booked on the 19th for lunch and had a lovely greeting at the door and was shown to our table. The waitress was also attentive and polite. We normally go for the chateaubriand to share which is always excellent but decided to give the set menu ago for a change. The tomahawk pork was really nice and cooked to perfection. The restaurant could have been a bit warmer but other than that an enjoyable meal.

Prices are a little eye watering and at those prices, I don't expect my steak to. have so much gristle. On advising the waitress, there was no acknowledgement from the manager or any attempt to compensate. We attended as a group of 4 on Wednesday evening (2/10) at 7:30

Food was absolutely amazing! Reasonably priced and fantastic waitress/waiters. I would like to note that online it states casual/smart dress code however I do not know how strict they are with that. highly recommend the sharing platters, there was so much meat that my 6ft2 boyfriend was stuffed… haha… deserts were brilliant and flavourful. The mock tails were spot on too.

We went to M&C Rayleigh last night for my sons 17th birthday. It is a restaurant we have used many times in the past for special celebrations and has always been very good. This time we were very disappointed. We arrived slightly early for our table and were asked to sit in the bar while we waited. Once the table was ready we were seated and provided with some menus. After 10/15 minutes the waitress came back to take our order. Unfortunately, both the main choices for my son and daughter were not available. We were not informed that there were items unavailable when we were seated. The waitress apologised and stated that it had been a very busy weekend! This was early (7.45pm) on a Tuesday evening - surely enough time to restock menu items. As there were no other suitable alternatives on the menu, we left and went elsewhere. Very disappointing and wont be returning.
