Miller & Carter in Rochford

From start to finish an amazing night was had. We were seated quickly by Georgia, our server was Kira - she was brilliant. She gave amazing, friendly service and was so patient when we ordered (there was a few on our table who were indicisive and then wanted to pick out bits of what they ordered). We had starters, main and dessert and all arrived well in good time, were beautiful presented and tasted amazing (shout out to the chefs). The fillet steak with the new signature butter is a must and so is the new banoffee pie. The cocktails were beautifully presented to. All in all a lovely family dinner out. Thank you

First and last visit. We went for my husband's birthday. Our waitress was genuinely lovely (Emma?) The starters were nice, and the ribeye steaks were very tasty. Camembert and spinach tart served luke warm, although was tasty. Dress code mentioned several times in the booking process, not upheld, so with the worn carpet under our table, it felt more like a standard pub restaurant. Manager was incredibly rude. For the price, expected much more, incredibly disappointed, will not be going again. *please note, in my over 100 reviews, I rarely give 1 star ratings, I have to be truly disappointed with an experience to give a business a low rating.

We eat here alot. But after my last visit I doubt it will be top of the list. I had the wedge lettuce with blue cheese. I got mor than half wy though and noticed something. It had a dark black slime underneath the lettuce, I had obviously eaten a bit. I showed an employee, They took it away and apologised, it wasn't washed properly was the explanation. I don't know if I could eat one again without looking for the slime. shame.

We had the pleasure at dining in Miller and Carter steakhouse near Raleigh we had a lovely server called Sarah who was Absolute gem when it came to serving she was so polite I recommend this venue and Sarah To the highest standards, she was absolutely amazing.

Great food, friendly professional staff and a nice setting. The only let down were the people we were sat next to which you can do nothing about! Dearer than your average chain restaurant but that was reflected in the quality of the food.

Excellent food served with a smile by KIRA. Miller and Carter always delivers excellent dining at reasonable prices. Atmosphere was lovely and plenty of room on the tables not banging elbows with neighbouring diners.

1st time dining at this restaurant and will be definitely returning, the atmosphere from the moment you walk in is inviting and the staff are very friendly and give you time to eat and relax without making you rush out. We visited this evening and the wonderful Georgia served us. She was prompt to introduce herself and nothing was too much. I am a coeliac so have specific dietary needs and she dealt with it phenomenally and she checked all the ingredients for me as I wanted something not on the GF MENU. Well done miller and carter

We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at Miller and Carter Rayleigh on 28th January. The whole experience was exceptional. From the welcome at the door right through to the end of the evening we could not fault Miller and Carter. We had a quick drink in the bar area first then was seated in our chosen area of the restaurant. We enjoyed a full three course meal, for the main meal we both chose one of the steak choices which was cooked to perfection and you have many variations on how you would like this cooked and I have to say both of our steaks were cooked exactly as we like them and so tender. Kira was our server this evening and she too was exceptional and exceeded our expectations, happy in her work and nothing was too much trouble. She served us well, the restaurant was busy but at no point did we feel unattended to as she served her time between many tables, even having time to congratulate us on our anniversary as she brought out a celebration hand piped board at the end of our meal which was a lovely surprise. The restaurant was clean and tidy and well presented, including the toilets which were spotless. In difficult times of late we have often seen restaurants standards slipping but that is not happening here, we cannot wait to return.

We were a family of 4 with two teenage boys and whilst we had not booked we were surprised at how booked up the restaurant was for a Monday evening. We were grateful to be offered a table on our arrival. The lady on the welcome desk was friendly and helpful. We did feel that the service was slightly delayed initially to take our order but once taken food delivery was prompt. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the server Sarah was excellent with a bubbly and engaging approach to us. She was very helpful when allergies were discussed and that they utilised y a VIP service for those with allergies that provides reassurance.

We went there for my birthday I had my kids and my grandchildren,so there was 3 children and 9 adults. Waited 1 1/2 hours for our starters, and then another 10 minutes for our mains my steak turned up and by the time my chips arrived I had almost finished my steak and some of the chips wasn’t cooked properly you are probably asking yourself why I didn’t complain I didn’t want to spoil the occasion it wasn’t till I talked to the rest of my party they all felt the same in total we was there for over 3 hours, so to be honest we will not be going back over £400 not impressed. We booked a table for a large group for a birthday meal. The actual food was lovely but the service was absolutely awful. Our table was booked for 3pm and we eventually ate our main course at 5pm, only 2 ordered starters. The lady who was serving us was very polite and tried her best but not once did anyone come and apologise for the delay. They also struggled with being able to split the bill. The toilets upstairs are in a shocking state. Only one works and that didn’t have sufficient toilet roll in either. All in all a very disappointing afternoon. We won’t be returning.

Very disappointed couldn't have the drink I wanted cos no tonic..steak was raw in the middle and coughing places. The desert wasn't as described in the menu as they had run out of coconut sorbet.. The evening was a 50th wedding anniversary present in the form of a voucher.. Shan't be returning any time soon

This Miller and Carter in Rayleigh is quite popular. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and bar area is nice. Usual steak house menu and has lots of choice.

Came out for date night with my boyfriend was served by Charlotte. She’s was very attentive and made brilliant steak recommendations, cannot fault the food or service. Thank you for a brilliant evening Charlotte!

Had a lovely meal, we had the 3 course meal from the rare treats menu. And I cannot fault any of it! The food was delicious, was all hot, tasty and we didn’t wait long either. My mum had a prawn cocktail to start and I can honestly say it was huge! I’m surprised she had room left. Our waitress Chloe was absolutely wonderful, was so polite and helpful! The only reason I have 4 stars instead of 5 for Atmosphere was because our table was next to the bar and the people behind were quite noisy, other than that PERFECT!

My birthday...my choice of venue for the celebrationary family meal. I love steak. Off to M&C we go...and were not disappointed with our evening. Great food..attentive service at the table, not cheap but the quality showed. If you love a good steal...I would suggest M&C every time.

Came in for lunch with my frien Mike and enjoyed the January set menu. Service from Anne was flawless as usual.

The whole experience was excellent, the food was great; steak cooked to perfection and the service was great. We opted for the 3 course deal and it did not disappoint, good selection of choices. Waitress was helpful and friendly.

18th birthday for our 18 year old son - his choice of where to eat - a large group of 16 people. Seated and looked after brilliantly by Chris, with our server Sharon making sure we were looked after perfectly. Wonderful food, fabulous service and an overall wonderful experience

Charlotte our waitress at Rayleigh was fantastic - she was friendly, efficient and attentive when needed! We ordered from the set menu £24.95 per person for 2 courses. I had cauliflower wings which were excellent and hubby had chicken wings also excellent. We couldn’t fault our steaks 7oz rump which were cooked exactly as we ordered and were very tender. Great selection of sauces for the steak and lettuce wedges and we both loved the chunky chips! We had no problem paying with the Quidco voucher. Thanks Rayleigh M&C we’ll definitely be back

Great service from SJ, she’s very personable. Great steaks, really melt in mouth. Great sides. (Mac and cheese, beef shin, greens, except chunky chips weren’t great, as were luke warm and so soft.) Starters also very good. Prawn cocktail, chicken wings, halloumi fries. As always the wedge salads were very fresh. Had a great visit.

Mixed views. We were waiting a staggering 40mins to get our first drink. We're not even offered our glass of Prosecco that comes with the menu. Had to ask for it. Following that we had to ask for drinks throughout, we were never just offered. One time we asked for drinks the girls face was like thunder. We felt Like we were a massive inconvenience. Every time we waited a good 20mins+ for drinks to arrive. They could have made so much more money for our table if it wasn't so dry. Food was nice enough for most of it, but cauliflower cheese was overcooked, dry and burnt. Dessert was left feeling it was short in the kitchen. We didn't finish eating until stupidly late as it felt they seemed more focused on serving the couples to turn them around than a large table. All in all we made the most but wasn't pleased with the service that night.

Server took our order in good time but starters took ages to come out then the main course took another length of time. We were in the restaurant and hour before the main course arrived. When it did arrive the chips which we paid an extra £1 for were very few, I counted 12 and the side sauce was not quite cold but below room temp

Best steakhouse restaurant! I've never been disappointed, despite several visits, they're the same: welcoming atmosphere, wonderfully delicious food and service, let's just say, I'd give it 6 stars if I could! We are back 200 percent!

New Year’s Eve menu food was superb three courses very busy but well organised food was delicious a bit of a discrepancy over pricing difference from near by tables but all agreed food was excellent.

Despite it being a busy Saturday on the run up to Xmas we were greeted warmly by the team. We were not rushed or hurried. Our steaks were cooked as ordered. Attentive, friendly server, without being intrusive. We had a lovely meal for a family birthday celebration.

Food was lovely, my steak was slightly overdone for my taste but nothing that made me want to return it. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant however I feel that the constant asking for us to leave a 5 star review on Facebook and Google became a little off putting, she even stood over us whilst we tried to do it. When Facebook didn't appear to be working she even went to get the manager and made me show her my phone to prove that it wasn't. It somewhat put a dampener on our evening.

It’s was my wife’s birthday meal and it was ruined! We had literally just started eating our starter when the waitress put our steak main course with sides on the table! Seriously how unprofessional and stupid is this especially as I believe this was an experienced waitress. We were then told the reason was because of the festive menu and large groups.and the chef didn’t want us waiting! Is this really a valid reason…..NO. Subsequently we had to rush our starter and our main courses and sides were cold. My wife’s steak was over cooked when ordered a medium. They did replace the meals but the night was already ruined. The replacement meals were hot but some of it was reheated and the steaks and fries were poor. The restaurant is seriously overrated, over priced, unprofessional service and below par produce. NEVER AGAIN. Hi Harry, We both had the lettuce wedge as our starter and they were delivered to the table first. The waitress was fully aware we wanted these as our starter hence why she gave the reason why the main meals were delivered so quickly! The waitress tried her best to rectify the evening but it had already been ruined and when second round of meals were returned, some of the food had just been reheated and was very disappointing especially the steak and fries. Overall it was an incredibly disappointing evening all round especially as it was my wife’s birthday meal. Kind regards Marc

A very good experience, although a bit on the pricey side. Back for another meal tonight. Good quality and service for a price. A further visit, and still very good overall quality

1. Food (steaks from a la carte menu) was good but MASSIVELY overpriced. Festive menu is a bit disappointing and also overpriced. There was literally no atmosphere, A bit like a Wetherspoons, but with more expensive food and drinks. 2. Drinks service appeared to struggle and was slow as the restaurant became more busy. 3. The whole ‘steak expert’ label thing is laughable and unnecessary. I suspect it’s probably embarrassing for the servers and is a pointless gimmick. 4. We were sat close to the main entrance and the reception phone was ringing regularly and taking time to be answered. A very annoying interruption, at least it wasn’t a rude and inconsiderate diner, but it might just as well have been.

Great service and food as always! Food was incredible, melt in your mouth! Our server, Natalie was brilliant, really friendly and welcoming…. Without prompting or asking organised a lovely birthday message for my special meal! Was brilliant! Will be back soon!

Excellent steak meal with friends. And very good to be able to choose from a gluten- free menu. If one thing could have been better, it would have been the king prawn cocktail - the prawns were good, but the marie rose sauce was poor, and it was served on plain iceberg only, in a 'bowl' plate thing with a stupidly wide rim, that tips over all the time.

Waitress Chloe was fantastic. She made it extra special knowing that we were American and it’s Thanksgiving today. Very grateful for her kindness and how thoughtful she was.

Superb food and excellent service

We recently visited Miller and Carter at Rayleigh for a very special occasion—my family meeting my girlfriend’s family for the first time—and it couldn’t have been a more perfect experience. The service was absolutely incredible; the staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was truly top-tier—everything was cooked to perfection, and I couldn’t find a single thing to fault. What made the evening even more memorable was the kind gesture from the staff, who gave us a discount as we were celebrating such a unique and special event. It was a wonderful touch that added to the fantastic atmosphere and made the night feel even more special. I can’t recommend Miller and Carter highly enough for both the quality of the food and the exceptional service—it’s a place we’ll definitely return to for future celebrations!

Julie served us up a lovely 8oz 30-day aged fillet steak with thick-cut chips. Washed down with a Merlot and a pint of Doom-Bar to start. My lovely wife, the designated driver, had the plant-burger and fries. A lovely impromptu date-night.

We ordered the Sunday sharing platter and I was extremely disappointed. The steak and lamb were so full of fat I couldn’t eat it and the vegetables weren’t very warm either
