Victory Inn in Rochford

I've lived in the Southend area for nearly 53 years and knew of this pub only because a friend lives near but never eaten or drunk here until today on my 8 mile return walk from Rochford to Hockley. I had a pit stop on the way and back at this pub, coffee on the way, there and an amazing well deserved roast on the way back. The staff were helpful, polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. She even accepted my loose change as part payment for my coffee. I had a beetroot and squash tart with all the trimmings (yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, brocolli, peas, carrots and plenty of gravy) instead of the beef roast as they had unfortunately run out, but it was extremely tasty, well cooked and definitely needed. I would recommend this local, friendly pub for the great food and service.So glad I stopped there. Will be visiting again!

Sonya absolutely knocked it out the park, her bubbly personality made me stay an extra 2 hours than I was planning, definitely coming back, great service

Came in today for some lovely lunch great service from Sonya behind the bar helping us out for lunch and drinks such a great pub. Great service with a smile from the stuff recommended coking to this place

Good food, decor but prices have gone up and portions are smaller (but still big enough). Staff don't know the details of the offers so read the small print beforehand and educate them when you order.

No mixed grills or bacon. Is it even a pub/restaurant at this point

Went for lunch with my other half on Saturday. Heard there was a new kitchen manager recently and he’s clearly doing his job. Food so much better. Good pub for sport too there’s loads of screens. Shame there wasn’t decent games on when we came. Serves by Jo who was friendly and smiley

Lovely little place great food and great atmosphere

Came in for lunch yesterday and the staff were so welcoming, there were 4 of us and quite picky eaters. We were shocked to see how big the menu was, and that we were all able to eat something which we actually enjoyed! A lovely lady Millie served us our drinks, and what a ray of sunshine she was! We waited no time for our drinks and food came out piping hot, was so impressed. Will definitely be back!

Good to watch sport, worth booking though for a decent seat. Beer and food are fine, staff usually friendly. There is something missing from this pub and I do wish it was a bit better, potentially the layout? Or garden?

The Victory Inn was fantastic. We had geat food, its a lovely place with great service. We had burger and fish finger sandwich, nice fresh food.

Decided last minute to pop out for New Years Eve lunch at the Victory Inn. Been here many times before and today was as good as always. Sonya was fabulous and went above and beyond to ensure my partner’s gluten intolerance was catered for. Reasonably priced and a nice atmosphere. Will be back again soon 😊

What a great Christmas Eve afternoon, the place was buzzing with atmosphere & people. It was packed , even though the 3 ladies behind the bar were rushed off their feet they all continued to smile & time to crack jokes which was great! Served by Alison who was attentive. One negative, maybe could have done with more staff. Well done The Vic !

Just had an amazing Christmas dinner at the victory Inn amazing staff who worked very hard and were very attentive. I would highly recommend this place if you just want good food and a drink.

Christmas eve and they put 3 incompetent bar staff on. Waiting 1 hour to be served and they are still oblivious. Won't be coming here again

Had Xmas Dinner, good food reasonably priced, friendly staff especially Sonya making our cocktails

Breakfast with Father Christmas. Excellent time, kids loved the chocolate hunt and meeting Santa

Booked the festive fayre menu, even spoke to staff about pre ordering the food, did everything they said then an hour before our booked time they phoned and said you can't have the food because I filled the form in wrong even though they had told me what to do...extremely disappointed with them also have a very upset special needs/autistic son who had been looking forward to it!

We have visited before, and had a meal there. It was really nice. This time though, all the tables had cards with reserved written on them. This has happened before, on a different week night. It is a very busy pub.

Popped in for senior lunch . Service quick and Sonya our server was very pleasant. Sadly chicken was a bit dry but refund or different meal was offered with apologies . Had lovely replacement, served with a smile. Very good experience.

Off to a great start when they got my drink wrong. Ordered the pie and when asked if everything was ok told them the top of my pie was brick hard as it was burnt. All I got was an ok I’ll speak to kitchen staff no apology no follow up nothing. Went to the toilet and sat down only for the seat to move. As a disabled person this is very concerning. Washed my hands and the dryer is not working. So very disappointed as I’ve been here before although not eaten it’s definitely gone down hill.

Must say another great quiz night from Alison last night, she’s fun & has a great attitude, never fails to deliver a fun quiz . An entertaining evening for all ages followed by play your cards right. Nice to see it busy & great atmosphere. Girls on the bar doing a great job too. Well done victory

We were greeted on arrival by Sonya and another young lady, both were very friendly and talkative and genuinely interested in having a conversation with us. Kids had lunch and I was surprised by the portion size. Great value for money and served hot! The only downside today was the wait for the kids desserts but Sonya was great. Today we arrived to the victory ordered our wine and food.. once the food came out we both instantly looked at each other and agreed it didn’t look very appealing. We called a lady over who was Millie and she took a look at the food and instantly agreed, apologised and took it away! She offered us a refund and was very apologetic. Later on our table received a sharing platter that Millie had said she made herself to make up for the inconvenience. She was so helpful and very kind and we will be returning purely on the basics that she was our waitress for the night. She went above and beyond!

Working in the area popped in for food and a few beers with my work colleague . The 2 young ladies were very plight and very friendly.

Live round the corner from this place. So it's a right result that it's an enjoyable pub to go to! All the staff work really hard no matter the pressure they are put under! The place has nice atmosphere and has a beer garden prefect for the summer and families with children. They also have some sort of entertainment on every month! Give the place a try.

Great value, good food, excellent service. Just need to clear the litter from the garden. We will be back soon. Great steak and ale pie.

Went with my family as alway and normally it is lovely and friendly there but not this time.. Had over an hr wait for food and all come out cold and my daughter had nuggets and they were hard and cold in the middle and the next day she was so unwell.. and then asked to leave as now children are not aloud in there after 9.30 as before when Alison was there kids were welcome as it’s a family pub.. the garden was messy and glasses everywhere and it wasn’t even busy and there was things hanging of the wall and just looked really run down and normally the staff great you as you go in and very helpful but just seems like it’s a different pub now

After 1hr of waiting for a sharer meal, they still hadnt started cooking it. Pub was empty , disgraceful , useless . Walked out , never again

We needed a large area of the pub for around 20 family and Alison was incredibly accommodating , checking in with me on numbers and what everyone may like to order etc, everyone enjoyed the food , lovely place to take the family , lovely job Alison ! Xx

Came in for a pint after work for first time. Beer was cold and food was hot. Just what was needed. Asked about football. Manageress Alison reserved us a table. Staff amazing food was bang on. Shame about England football team. Definitely recommend

Food was excellent and the beer garden is lovely in the summer sun ! This is our regular and we always visit on the weekend as a family. Would certainly recommend it.

Mediocre food. Very quite, staff just stood chatting with each other behind the bar. Unable to serve tea or coffee as no milk available!

Was visiting the area and called in at Victory Inn for a bite to eat and a drink. There was a good atmosphere, ordered a roast dinner and a pint, service was great and food was lovely. Would definitely recommend.

I visited this pub for the first time with some friends to celebrate a friends surprise 70th birthday party. It was a great afternoon, the staff were excellent & the service was brilliant, considering this pub was extremely busy! I hope that in the future to visit this pub again.

Ordered rump steak for 4 of us, but then told only had sirloin, which was fine, however everyone’s steak was very fatty and full of grizzle. Customer service was awful, staff would rather lounge over the bar than check if everything was ok with our food, never cleared our plates or told us kitchen closed at 9, so wasn’t given the opportunity to order a dessert. There was prob a maximum of another 10 people in the bar, no excuse for bad service.

Visited on Saturday for beers & England Rugby game with friends. Wow… very busy & only 2 members of staff just like a normal day, Blonde Alison was an absolute trooper as witnessed her on her own! Saw many people leave, no fear of getting drunk in here! I would recommend checking beforehand the sporting diary before choosing this venue ! Such a shame as previous visits were great. The manager needs to address this or many more disappointed drinkers !!!

We booked a table on the 8th February for our Shanleys 10th birthday at 5.30 for 12 people just wanted to say Ali was fantastic from the start very welcoming the staff were great food was lovely would definitely recommend and will be returning soon thank you 👍🏻

We went for rock and roll bingo that DJ jack does last Friday we had a brilliant time, the atmosphere in the pub was great and it was packed great to see something different that no one else is doing in the area and to make it even better all the money goes to charity. It really makes a change and Jack did a fantastic job. Everyone was really enjoying themselves I’m looking forward to the next one already can’t wait to book will make this a regular thing so please keep it up well done Jack you did amazing.

Our first visit to the Victoria Inn and we really enjoyed the friendy service and the food. Salt & Pepper squid for starters was good and the Steak & Ale Pie excellent. Looking forward to going back again soon!

Was here for Christmas Dinner, which was passable. Parsnips weren't really cooked. I had an alcohol FREE gin and Sprite - £8.50! Extortionate price!!!!!!!!!!

Great staff, great atmosphere, great place all round to watch sports live. Always welcoming. They play every premier league game and rugby match. Drinks are reasonably priced. Look forward to the next visit!

We've lived round the corner from this pub for a long time but only recently started come back here. The new manager Allison has a done a great job in making a nice welcoming pub, the food is always great just sad they recently updated the menu and don't do my favorite burger any more. The staff are always polite, happy and pour a good pint.

A lovely family pub who make you feel welcome. We came here as a family for food whilst a football match was being shown (we hadn’t realised prior but glad we went). The staff were fantastic, they were extremely accommodating (my youngest has a rare syndrome) and despite being busy they ensured we had a seat, brought us over some ice cream for him, asked if they could do anything else for us with a smile. Also to note - all others in there were friendly and made us feel welcome with the atmosphere - they also have a play area and garden out the back which is great for children Highly recommend

Stopped here for a bite to eat and the food was brilliant with wide variety for everyone. Customer service was friendly and definitely recommend for anyone.

Owner was VERY rude when ordering. Everything is a big deal to her. She has no interest in helping people and dealing with orders.
