Our party of 5 was virtually ignored by staff who didn’t take our order until 30 minutes and after one of the party asked at the bar. Not all the food arrived said to be not entering system. Left not having any mains. Our bill had an item which was ordered but never arrived.

Worst vegetarian dining experience I have had in the UK. I said to the server clearly that we wanted the small plates as starters, then he said all together right and then tutted when I said I asked for them as starters. Due to the poor attitude of the server I then decided against ordering sides with my main, and only ordered tap water when I was going to have a beer. The Garlic Bread was actually a raw pizza base with a smearing of grease and tasteless seasoning. The bang bang broccoli was more like poop poo broccoli it did not look very well presented, not very appetising and tasted inedible. The 'Sea bass' was tasteless and cold on top of hard undercooked raw potato and my friends pizza had a raw base. We felt intimidated by the staff who were great at looking at us but poor In their communication or customer service

Sadly our recent visit didn't live up to expectations. 3 of our 4 diners had problems with their dishes. Whist we were offered replacements for the steak dishes it would have meant 2 of the diners would be eating their main courses at different times. Lets hope it was a one off experience. Disappointing as it was a birthday treat.

Absolutely shocking service… Having frequented the Thatcher’s over many years I am disappointed in the current state of affairs. All the local waiting staff and chefs have left due to the toxic current landlords behaviour, resulting in a terrible atmosphere and little to no service. We had booked lunch on the 28th of July but the whole day was spoilt for mine and nearly all other diners who had to wait for well over an hour for any food… Some diners gave up and left, when I questioned the delay, a witch by the name of Wendy spoke horrendously to myself… I will not be returning ever again, I would suggest the Chappell Swan and the Three Horseshoes in Fordham for much higher quality of service.

We’ve driven past the Rose and Crown multiple times in the past couple of years, but we’d never stopped there until now. How stupid of us not to have dined here sooner! My confit lamb ragu and my husband’s venison duo were delicious, and the toffee apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding (both served with the house custard) were lovely. The beer (Woodforde’s Reedlighter) was well kept - we’ll certainly be back very soon.

Our first time here but definitely will not be our last. Service was attentive and our meals arrived quickly, sausage and mash, beef pie and Cajun chicken, all looked very appetising and were delicious. We managed deserts, which were just as good and reasonably priced, in fact the entire meal was reasonably priced including the drinks. We cannot think why as we live locally we have not been here before.

First time visit to this very popular eatery which also has outside seating at the rear. Four of us had a great dining experience, staff were welcoming and provided good service and did not rush us, despite it being exceptionally busy at 7:30pm. So glad we made an advanced booking! Besides the comprehensive menu, there was also a ‘Specials Board’ with plenty more choices. We shared 4 duck pancakes for a starter and I then had the Goan Chicken Curry and rice which was delicious and came with naan, a pitta bread, mango chutney and lime pickle. The side of chunky chips, we shared. There was definitely no room for a dessert.
