5e service & the food we received yesterday was amazing. After a walk to Horsey Gap Beach we headed to get some lunch on the recommendation of a fellow walker we had spoken to. We hadn’t booked or rang ahead and worried there might not be room for…wait for it…6 adults, 4 sandy dogs and a 6 week old baby in a pram. They made space for us in a quiet corner. The staff were lovely & friendly and the food was fantastic. I has the burger & fries that came with coleslaw to die for. Everybody was happy & well fed.

We parked on the pub carpark , booked a table, then walked to the beach to see the seals. What an excellent decision this proved to be. The 20 min walk to the beach was quiet and pleaseant and we stoped to watch deer in the woodlnd, Then, at the beach we were blown away by the number of seals we saw just chilling and not at all bothered by us taking photos. Then back to the pub to be greeted by very freindly staff and shown to our reserved table. The food was all freshly prepared and was excellent. ( recommend the crab sandwiches, they were lovely) The locals were really friendly too and made us feel very welcome.

Found this gem of a pub after a trip to Horsey Gap to see the seals. Arrived just after they opened for lunch. Very children and dog friendly . Fantastic choice on the menu, between us we chose, the ham egg and chips, hallumi burger, childs burger and nachos with chill. Served beautifully fresh and hot, the meals were huge! But we still managed to fit in a tasty dessert, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownies. They had a fabulous choice of ales and ciders. All in all a place that we will return to and will recommend to everyone

I don't usually write reviews but I had such a good experience here today that I wanted to. Food is absolutely excellent comforting home made fayre and the lady (landlady?) at the bar and the two young men doing service could not have been more warm and welcoming whilst also being so helpful (we had a toddler and a baby with us). Such a cosy authentic country pub exactly as it should be. We'll make an effort to stop here to eat again whenever I'm in the area.

We always enjoy our vists to the Nelson Head while walking the coast from Winterton to Horsey. Always a fantastic selection of beers on tap and plenty of choice on the menu. Portions are more than ample, great for hungry hikers! Atmosphere and decor is traditional, no frills , good honest food and if its cold there is a lovely open fire. Staff are friendly and welcoming if you have two or four legs and its always popular.

We are absolutely disgusted with the service, had read the good reviews so got there early and what I assume was the landlady gave a friendly welcome. We placed our food order and we commented that we had timed our arrival well since a large party then arrived along with other couples all ordering food, after a while the adjacent table to our was served with fish and chips we assumed we would be next despite other tables ordering after us being served, after virtually an hour waiting my wife went to the bar to enquire as to our food not arriving only to be told the printer had run out of paper and the order had not gone through but was offered to put it though again, bearing in mind we were now behind about a dozen orders so my wife refused this and we left. The most annoying factor was the land lady had seen we had no food despite taking the order herself yet when we complained at the bar she did not even acknowledge us or check what the problem was. She continued to sit at a table near us writing out the specials on a notice board. No offer of complimentary drinks absolutely nothing so we went to the Greyhound at Hickling and had great service and an excellent meal.

We have just had a wonderful weeks holiday in Norfolk, our 10th holiday there. We ALWAYS visit the Nelsons Head when we holiday in the region and time and time again we are always delighted with the food, drink, service and atmosphere. Cosy, traditional and quaint country pub, it offers great food, good size portions and although prices have gone up ( but let’s face it all pubs and restaurants costs must be spearing, so not really unexpected), it still offers very good value. We visited for lunch twice this holiday and we will be back again next time we holiday inNorfolk. We just love how consistently great the Nelsons Head as remained over the last decade we have been going there on our hols. FANTASTIC!

The food was very good well cooked and presented, we had to wait for a while before our order was placed, however it's a busy local pub which caters for holiday makers also so this could have been the reason for the wait. Cheerful and pleasant staff, I would certainly eat there again.

Been here before as we are fairly local and it was good. But this time terrible and very expensive we had roast pork with apple sauce, stuffing and crackling. Meat was mostly really Fatty and baguette was filled mostly with stuffing best bit was the crackling. At £8 each I expect far better just ripping off the holiday makers. Don’t think we will be going again. It was barely warm so back to the pie man at sheringham for us.
