Our second visit and it did disappoint a little. It was a Saturday morning and service was a bit slow. After 15-20 mins, we ended up waving to get their attention so we could order. When the food did arrive, it was cold so we ended up sending 3 out of 4 dishes back! They were re-done with no hassle and came out fine second time round, but there were no complimentary drinks or discount to apologise which I'd typically expect. Would give another go and hope for better!!

We went to Cosy Club for a Sunday afternoon lunch, having had great experiences there in the past - but unfortunately, this time was a major letdown. Service was incredibly slow; we waited about 20 minutes each time to be served, and our food took almost an hour to arrive. When we ordered two steaks (at £32 each, which we expected would be well worth it), they came out completely overcooked - our ‘rare’ steak was well done, and our ‘medium’ came medium-well. After we sent them back, it took another 20 minutes to get replacements, only for the rare steak to arrive practically raw and cold. To top it off, the quality just wasn’t there; the steaks were bland and not worth the price tag. Desserts were tasty but, like everything else, took ages. There was a real lack of communication among the staff, and the atmosphere felt awkward with staff being visibly rude to each other. When our waiter went on break, no one took over our table, and we ended up waiting by the till to pay, with staff seemingly unaware that we were even there. Definitely disappointing, especially for a bill that came to over £200.

It's a very spacious venue with high ceilings. I liked the atmosphere with its ancient (or pseudo-acient) portraits and its quirky vibe. An interesting menu and the food was good, especially the starters. Prices OK. The staff was professional and friendly, however it took quite long for our orders to be taken and for our meals to arrive.

Not a great experience! Went in for a friends birthday! Bottomless brunch! The bill was over £600! We moved to the bar and was told we couldn’t have any drinks because we were too loud… won’t be retuning!!! The food was actually good though! I think you should remove bottomless brunch off your menu…

Arrived with high expectations left very disappointed . Starter was ok but our main course was very poor . We ordered ox cheek pasta ragu at £17 a portion . We had difficulty finding the ox cheek buried under the pasta ,three small lumps of meat . It was barely warm , the pasta was undercooked and cool and the braised broccali ordered as a side was also cold .All served on cool plates . I am afraid we sent it back and left . We were told it had all bee cooked at 68 degrees but by the time it reached us it was no where near that .

We were seated at an awful table by the kitchen entrance. The restaurant was only half full and we asked to be moved to a more comfortable table. The host said that they were fully booked and all the empty tables we pointed out were reserved. We were offended when the empty tables all remained empty during our meal- not a single one of the tables we asked to be relocated to was occupied. In addition to the table disappointment, our breakfast meals didn’t come out timed together. My meal of the cosy eggs was cold which was very odd because it arrived last. The Cosy Club was the opposite of cosy. If they were trying to tell us that we are not welcome and to not come back then the point has been taken. It should be noted that our waiter was very friendly, but we won’t be returning after being treated so poorly by the host and due to the cold food.

My first visit to Cosy Club was superb. The atmosphere and the interior was indeed cosy. It was a Monday morning so there weren’t a lot of people, but the service was friendly regardless! I had the Chorizo Hash, which was a hefty portion! The dish was lovely, ranging from the fried egg on top, down to every bit such as the potatoes, tomatoes, and the chorizo bits. Only thing I would suggest is to have chunkier pieces of chorizo, as I only get the bits of chorizo every other mouthful. It does explain why the menu shows an option to add more chorizo for some extra £. Overall, awesome experience and will visit to try more breakfast items!

Lovely experience of eating a pre theatre meal at the Cosy club. Very attentive staff who were polite, jolly and attentive. Food was served pretty quickly and across the table was very well received. I had the seabass with roasted potatoes in a cream sauce. Very yummy. Fish was moist but well crisped on the skin. Lots of flavour. Apparently salmon was also really nice. Chicken burger was a great big portion (although suffered slightly from the common resturant problem of Very tall when it could just have been wider)! But all very good. Puddings also full of flavour (recommend the apple tart). Cocktails very tasty. Again recommend the cherry bakewell one. Atmosphere was bustling but not too brash or overly noisy. It was easy to chat and be heard. The space is very high ceiling with a strange collection of old portraits on the walls and clustered lampshades above. Nice and quirky. We actually outstayed our two hour table slot so were moved over to the comfy sofas for our coffees. It's not cheap but not overly expensive either. My fish was £18 and apple tart was £8.50. Heartily recommend. A lively lovely evening.

This is a great place to come if you are watching a show after at the Barnfield theatre. The food options vary from tapas dishes to a range of main courses to suit everyone. The food is a step up from a pub and reasonably well prepared. I had some issues with the rocket leaves that were quite wilted and the bread had seen better days (perhaps from the freezer?) - but the ravioli and salmon were nice. Service was good. (Update - The bread was actually fresh, but perhaps it was very slightly toasted leading me to believe it wasn't)

Desserts all sounded inviting, and the brownie with ice cream won the day! Recommended.

I have written this review in tripadvisor.co.uk also as I would like others to enjoy the experience. Just 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral this hidden gem is a must for both locals and visitors. Built within an old hospital the decor creates both visual and atmospheric interest. There is both warmth and comfort in the stories behind the pictures on the walls and the lighting creates an ambience that stimulates the mind. The staff... Omg!!! I have never been served with such charm and efficiency in any other establishment like I was here. Both my partner and myself were in awe even before we had started to eat. The proficiency of the staff was exceptional and we now ordered... The food began to arrive and starters were served quickly. In all honesty I could not find enough words to compliment the quality of ingredients, the combination of ingredients or the presentation of the plates. I have eaten all over the world from Scotland to Egypt and the explosion of flavours on the plates brought before us in The Cosy Club surpassed anything I have ever experienced. I cannot complement this restaurant enough. If you know your food and appreciate good quality ingredients put on a plate to become a masterpiece then I HIGHLY reccomend this restuarant. Thanks to all and I will be back very soon. X

Visited for brunch. It's an old hospital building, which is reflected in the decor and style, and is nice to see the theme preserved, if not entirely authentically. We thought some of the tables were a little close together given the space the rooms provide. The food is perfectly fine for the price, portion sizes spot on and the quality decent enough. We found the service a tad on the slow side though, both in terms of waiting staff and food time, whilst it wasn't especially busy.

Had dinner there tonight, it was the the first time in a long time that I thought a meal out, whatever the price point, was worth what I paid. Mackerel pate was delicious, a tangible step up from shop bought or home made and a generous portion. Mains of salmon fillet and Spanish chicken were also full of flavour and well portioned. Third cheapest (?) bottle of wine was £28 and more than drinkable, in fact it was delicious. Very nice venue and setting but the whole experience was elevated by Larna who looked after us - a perfect blend of professionalism, charm (no smarm) and wit to my mind. The place itself is lovely and it's dog friendly which is a real bonus. The very charismatic and lovely Lana looked after us who was very welcoming. Unfortunately all if our orders came out missing something, this was however delt with efficiently and the rest came out quickly. The extra side of mushrooms ordered costing £2.25 was a rather small and sad looking flat mushroom when the receipt states it should be three flat mushrooms which makes more sense given the cost. Breakfast was nice although I don't think the quality of the overall breakfast reflects well for the price. A nice place in general

Our first time here and the place itself was different and lovely. Decorated differently to the norm. Wife had the chicken sandwich and I had Spanish chicken. What a find. I had not heard of this brand before my son booked 4 of us into supper here. Nice buzz and busyness for a Sunday night. Loved the quirky decor. Very grand building as in the radiation part of an old Victorian hospital. The little sign outside has no indication of what a fab place you find inside. We had cocktails, drinks, starters and mains. First world problem, I know, but mildly disappointed W the red wine list. ..I like a good Pinot Noir, struggled to find a red to order. Not sure if my sea bass was meant to be quite so drowned in so much olive oil. I ate the food which was delicious, and left the oil. The other 3 had steaks which they devoured. Loved the wilted spinach but not so keen on the wilted rocket which would have been better left off the plate. Will definitely come again. Quibbles W the food are overtaken by the place itself. Liked it a lot.

Presented with vegan menu - a number of items weren’t available. What came was pretty mediocre. Great shame as this is a very cool venue with fab look and great access for wheelchair user.

Culturally rich environment, restful vibe with a great variety of food for all preferences. Gluten free/vegetarian options were delicious! Would certainly return. Table service was excellent.

Second visit to Cosy Club Exeter. First for Mother's Day this year and most recently for my brother's 40th. It never disappoints. Lovely food, great service. We will be back!

Food is lovely, always fast, price not bad But biggest asset to this business is waitress Shelly, she is always so friendly, chatty and happy Seems like she loves her job which is so lovely to see Shelly needs a pay rise

Keith and Tarina are both friendly and attentive. Over the span of around 14 years this is the 3rd restaurant we have experienced and recognized them for their impeccable standards of serving abilities. 5 stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 #greatservice #friendlystaff #deliciousfood

Not been here for a while but popped in for lunch while I was in the area. As always food is fantastic, hot lots of it and well worth he price tag. The Full English is massive and really hot and tasty. I love the Jacket potatoes which come with a massive salad. Cannot fault this place. The staff are lovely and very helpful. I had heard that the site was up for sale so fingers crossed no one will buy it! However, even if this cafe did move, fans like myself will just follow it to wherever it goes. Pods are always very very busy so make sue that if you want one you book well in advance.

The best chip shop ever. Chicken pieces are gorgeous and the cod mini fillets are so tasty
