We always come here on our annual trip to Southwold or Walberswick since it's a lovely walk or cycle ride from there. Usually the cream teas are to die for, but on this occasion, they had run of of fruit scones at 130pm and again at 11am the next day. Our companions wanted sausage rolls instead but they had run out of those as well. It's a bit odd for a tea room to run out of scones. The staff were apologetic enough but no 5* review from us this year sadly.

Super place. Lovely setting with views over the sea. Staff very attentive, friendly and professional. We’d booked a table to ensure a space as it can be quite busy. I had the traditional breakfast, another the breakfast sandwich and another had the bacon sandwich. All served freshly cooked and piping hot. Proper ingredients sourced locally. Coffees were hot and tasty. Altogether a smashing place for food. Good value too. Well done to the staff, a credit to the business. Will definitely return.

Had Sunday lunch here in September 2024 and possibly one of the best roasts I’ve had. The pork was tender and tasty, lots of beautifully cooked veg, but the GF yorkshire pudding really was the icing on the cake! A really welcoming restaurant/ pub with a good layout and fantastic menu which had heaps of choice and so many options for GF. I was super impressed and whilst the food was amazing the service especially was exceptional.

We have eaten at the Rose Garden on a few occasions, both at ‘The Harry’ in Leigh and at their current location at The Salting’s Hockley. It was my wife’s birthday and we thought The Rose Garden would be a nice place to go for our evening meal as we have come to rely on their food being of good quality supported by good service. This perception changed dramatically on Friday evening. We arrived at the restaurant just before 7.00pm, we were surprised to see how quiet it was there, one couple were already in the restaurant and another were in the garden out-front. We were welcomed by the waitress very professionally and nothing appeared to be too much trouble – so far so good! We ordered the Smoked Salmon & Prawn Parcel and Pan-Fried King Prawns to start, and for our mains, the Chicken Wellington, and The Rose Garden Roast Turkey Dinner. The starters arrived and were quite good, however the mains were, to say the least, a disappointment! Whilst the Chicken Wellington was palatable, albeit dry (so dry the pastry casing just fell off it), the Roast Dinner looked burnt, I can only describe the turkey as being hard at the edges, the sausage that came with the roast was black on the outside, the vegetables were all over cooked, and the gravy was both lumpy and salty. It was by any measure inedible! We were amazed the Chef had even allowed the Roast Dinner to have left the Kitchen in this state! The Rose Garden did refund the cost of the Roast Dinner, but our evening had already been spoiled. Based on Friday’s experience, it is unlikely we will return there.
