Ruby's Kitchen in Suffolk Coastal

It’s a job to put into words this little gem. Beautifully prepared home made food, even the sandwiches are superb. We travel around and have lunches in many places, but always, say let’s go back to Ruby’s. Lovely friendly staff also.

Our first visit to this cafe and what a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and take their cleanliness very seriously as every table is sanitised before the next customer uses it. The toilets in a establishment are generally a good indication as to what is going on behind the scenes and their toilets were spotless, and it was noted the the person serving the food removed his apron before using the loo, well done !!. As for the meals they were delicious !! my wife had the ham, eggs and chips and I had the steak and ale pie and they were both tasty and large portions. We will definately be coming back next time we visit Felixstowe.

I have breakfast at Ruby's pretty much once a week, occasionally twice, mostly with my wife and have been doing so for several years. All of the food is good quality, fresh and well cooked and the folk who work there are lovely. Special mentions for Harry, who makes a perfect coffee (amongst other things) and Victoria who brightens our morning with her cheery welcome and sense of humour, but all of them are lovely people.

Our second visit to Ruby's for lunch and a catch-up and what can I say...everything is so great here. The staff, the food and the service. It all runs so smoothly. Keep up the good work girls!

Delicious food, large portions. Friendly staff and great location, street seating. Slightly slow on service, but food was worth the wait.

Super place. Lovely setting with views over the sea. Staff very attentive, friendly and professional. We’d booked a table to ensure a space as it can be quite busy. I had the traditional breakfast, another the breakfast sandwich and another had the bacon sandwich. All served freshly cooked and piping hot. Proper ingredients sourced locally. Coffees were hot and tasty. Altogether a smashing place for food. Good value too. Well done to the staff, a credit to the business. Will definitely return.

This is an absolute gem of a find! The menu is extensive, special boards are clearly displayed. The staff are friendly and helpfuland can describe each dish . I had one of the specials quiche, salad and new potatoes with coleslaw, my husband had the chilli con carne with rice, tortillas and sour cream. Both tasted really good,the portions were large. I would thoroughly recommend Ruby’s Kitchen.

We were looking for a restaurant/cafe that sold Gluten Free options and there was such a good choice and good prices. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I would recommend going here. Thank you Ruby's Kitchen.

We came as a family for lunch & usually love this little cafe. Lovely food and very quick. However, one ladies customer service skills were appalling! It was busy so she appeared stressed but, we felt so uncomfortable with how we witnessed her speak to costumers. We hope this is our first & last experience of this, as we are regularly visitors and it has made us unwilling to attend again. (Short lady with tattoos).

Best breakfast in town... We go there before we going back home and my friend often goes whenever he is in Felixstowe.... The people are friendly

Don’t miss this gem on the top of the hill in the Felixstowe. Super friendly but not overpowering staff and fantastic food. Cakes are to die for and portions are very generous. Definitely my stop by when I’m in Felixstowe. Well done Ruby’s cafe! (and I’m very fussy 😝)

Bought sandwiches and cake to take away for lunch on the beach - perfect. Great value home made food; lunch sandwiches packed to go in a box with the crisps and dressed salad as would be served in the cafe, and hot breakfast sandwiches wrapped in foil. We make a point to go back whenever we have a Felixstowe beach day!

Bought pants on many occasion but decided to go in. Backroom has view over the sea the menu both on a card and on a blackboard or eclectic. The coffee cocktails no alcohol amazing I didn’t like that before on the price is extremely reasonable. Definitely come back.

Excellent little tea room serving excellent cakes, light meals and proper leaf teas. Service is first class with a friendly atmosphere. Food was top notch!

My wife fancied a piece of cake and coffee, I just had an espesso as on this visit was not hungry, as usual all was perfect and on a few other occasions we had had breakfast here everytime all is great, we are moving to the area soon and sure we will become regulars . also everywhere you look is spotless clean and the staff are very friendly

Had the Sunday roast beef, very good portions, loads of vegetables and good value for money. We opted for a homemade dessert and these were also very tasty. Staff are always friendly

Lovely welcome by the ladies when we went in, seated straightaway, just a couple of minutes wait (enough time to choose!) and our order was being taken. Two breakfasts (1 vegetarian) both with an added hash brown and a cappuccino each. Well, just wow! Everything was piping hot and the hash browns………….. 😋 We would rate this as possibly the best breakfast in the County. Will definitely be back and would pick this place over and above other cafes. Good cup of coffee too! We will try the cakes next time, but we didn’t have room for them today (we only had the small breakfasts too!!)

Great coffee and a really good price too, often coffee out is bitter this was very smooth. Staff friendly and welcoming, will definitely be back.

Excellent service and food as always! Staff are always friendly and helpful. Had the Welsh rarebit and my partner had a large vegetarian breakfast! Great value for money the breakfast was huge!

Went into rubys on a very sunny day not expecting a table. A lovely lady told us to wait a few minutes whilst she cleaned the table for us! Must say all the staff had a very bright smile and accommodated us very politely! We both had a large breakfast and enjoyed every but of it! We will most definitely be visiting again!

I prebooked a table of 12 friends for lunch at 12.15pm yesterday. A couple of days before the booking I dropped in a list of lunch choices. Ruby's couldn't be anymore accommodating on the day. The tables were ready, the staff were lovely, happy and helpful. Everybody in my group enjoyed the food. We enjoyed our time there. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended. A lovely seaview. Absolutely rude staff here. Manager epically. Has absolutely no mangers and was rude from the moment we went in the place. will not be returning!

Popped in for a quick coffee and a bacon and egg sandwich. Probably the best bacon and egg sandwich I’ve ever had. High quality smoked bacon, really flavoursome egg and wonderfully tasty and thick sliced bread. Great coffee as well. Not cheap but also not overpriced - nobody minds paying a little more for food made with good quality produce.

Tried to have lunch at Ruby's Kitchen on 23rd December 2023, based upon perevious excellent experiences. 23rd December - no food, sarcastic and lazy staff. We were careful to check the Web site opening hours before travelling - no problem, Upon arrival, sign on the door saying 'open' -so far so good. Entered and told 'sorry we are closed' - what??? Turned away rather brusquely, it seemed that the staff had decided without warning to close early so they could get home. We sympathise with the sentiment at Christmas, but at least advertise our opening hours correctly.

You will not be disappointed. Lunch here today for our party of 7 was superb. It was lovely having Vicky look after our order. Nothing was too much trouble which was part of us having a very happy lunchtime experience at Ruby’s. The food was excellent and the beef stew with dumplings, steak pie, ham egg and chips and scampi were all plentiful and simply the best. This review is based on what we would hope to find in a good Cafe. We will certainly be back. The variety of cakes on offer looked the best they could be. Too full to try a piece this visit but afternoon tea and cake is on the agenda. Several good cafe’s in Felixstowe but today Ruby’s is No 1.

We went as a party of 7 for a birthday lunch. Food was very good, lovely view of the sea, but what made it most memorable was the staff. They were very efficient and so welcoming and friendly, they made the lunch really special. I don't know their names but thank you from all of us, you were brilliant.

The food here is home cooked, delicious and reasonably priced. There’s a lovely view (depending where you sit) overlooking the sea too. I’ve been here quite regularly and the food and service is consistently excellent. Unpretentious and fab place…. Cannot recommend it highly enough- try the breakfasts and the coffee!!

We first went into Ruby’s for a cup of tea and later went back for lunch and it was very nice. The cafe is well presented and very clean and overlooks the sea. The staff were very nice and the service was very quick. A very lucky find and would definitely recommend.

Cakes had no prices on them - chose two Bakewells (£3.50 each 😱 since when did Felixstowe morph into London prices??), 100% waste of (1) calories (2) money. Add that to lukewarm coffee = 😕 Won’t rush back.

We chose Ruby's for a mid week visit (for breakfast) after reading such good reviews, we were not disappointed. We have been here for many years, but not recently due to the pandemic. We were pleasantly surprised by the decor & the great changes made by the owners. In the early days the back area was more of a 'shack', not any more, it's been very well renovated making the most of the stunning sea views. Back to the food.We ordered a large breakfast & a breakfast sandwich (thinking it would be a smaller option, wrong!!) Both were very delicious & both defeated us. The breakfast sandwich, which had to be deconstructed to he eaten successfully, consisted of sausages, bacon, egg, mushrooms & a large homemade hash brown between 2 thick slices of buttered bread. It was enormous. We also ordered a double espresso & a cortado coffee. The latter was ordered due to the good review given previously, it was an outstanding, superb coffee.Staff were also polite & courteous. Great toilet facilities too.All COVID preventative measures are in place here.We will definitely return to this establishment.

Another warm welcome from the very friendly and helpful staff at Ruby's. Our warm up after a chilly but braising walk was coffee and super breakfasts. Service was as always attentive but not intrusive. My first choice in my favourite seaside town has to be Ruby's. Always a first class meal. K&D

Love Ruby’s. Both the cafe and the Martello kiosk. They have both been a godsend inLockdown. Daughter has had to take leave, we should have been visiting my son in Sheffield. Instead we decided to have a treat , and have Ruby’s breakfasts delivered. They were superb, still warm and delicious. Delivered precisely when promised. As good as in the cafe. Thank you everyone, well done for adapting to these odd and challenging times. Thanks and ❤️

Super food and a great ocean view in this little cafe. The friendly staff had no problem with my desire to order completely off-menu, and the range of home made cakes was extensive and delicious!

Had a lovely lunch here with a friend, good covid measures in place, with well spaced tables and sanitiser on entry. The menu offered good hot and cold options, I had the ham salad which was delicious and my friend had the prawn jacket potato which was tasty too. A great selection of homemade cakes was on offer as well. Would defiantly recommend for a casual lunch.

Lovely young staff, very well trained and organised, no drippy snowflakes here. Service was excellent. Coffee and bacon butties, very tasty, good price, will be back for a full breakfast. BTW dogs are allowed in the front only ( which is very reasonable)

Excellent breakfast with friendly service. My partner is gluten intolerant and he was able to have a full English breakfast with gluten free bread and sausages. The service was great, and we both agreed that it was the best meal we’ve eaten all weekend during our stay. The coffee was great too :-)

On holiday in Felixstowe, called in to Ruby’s for a coffee yesterday, bit of a coffee addict and the latte was excellent, that good went back today also had a breakfast sandwich, delicious thick cut bread with quality ingredients, staff very friendly and helpful

During this difficult time my wife and I have had three takeaways,the food hot and cooked perfectly,except one time prawn salad,the amount of prawns fantastic,they did forget our knives forks last time quick phone call,revisit not a problem.In or out lovely food from a great team of staff,one of our favourites,we travel from Ipswich ,lovely.

Fantastic service, lovely setting and beautiful food. Would recommend if you like a proper breakfast, well cooked bacon, tasty sausages and a good portion.

Ruby's Kitchen is in a superb location and extremely quaint. For its size it has an excellent choice and selections of meals on it's menu and will cater for all taste.

My son and I had breakfast here on my birthday. I had the vegetarian breakfast which was excellent. Service was good and friendly. We will definitely be going back.

I have eaten breakfast here a couple of times and I liked it so took my friends on Sunday morning. Unfortunately though we had a terrible experience on Saturday. We called ahead to make sure they did vegan breakfast (for my friend) they cafe said yes.When the waitress came to take our order she appeared very grumpy and was very short in response when taking our order. There was no friendliness and it was as if we were an incovenience.The breakfasts arrived for the 4 of us, my vegan friend had starting eating and then realised that there was a piece of fried egg in her food. Naturally as a vegan she was upset by this and could not continue eating it. No one came out to check us to ask if the breakfasts were ok or anything. The 3 non vegans finished our breakfasts which was fine.We went to the till to pay and explained about the vegan breakfast being ruined by unexpected egg. The same waitress that served us did not seem at all apologetic, she simply said "we are a cafe so don't food check here." I think this attitude is very poor, if it had been someone with an serious allergy then it could be dangerous to eat an ingredient that isn't supposed to be in a meal. The waitress didn't charge for the vegan breakfast but I can tell this was a reluctant gesture. The service and how the error was handled was very disappointing and has put me off as a local customer. HUGE SHAME.

Called in for a coffee and ended up staying for lunch as both food and service were first class. Lovely fresh, colourful, flavoursome food.

This was my second visit in August and yet again had a lunch served by friendly and helpful staff. This time we sat at a table bistro style, we used the table on their balcony. Excellent lunch options at a good price. Recommend the Croque Monsieur!

Having seen such great reviews we decided to visit Ruby’s whilst in Felixstowe. I hate leaving such a poor review for a small business but likewise wouldn’t have gone if I’d read the review I’m about to leave. The staff whilst friendly were clearly over stretched, getting orders mixed up and delivering the wrong drink to our table and my food to another table. My son’s chips looked as though they had been triple fried, as they were greasy and crispy. My husband’s breakfast sandwich was overcooked and tasteless. The bread/toast for my Croque Monsieur was black where it had been burned (see picture). I wouldn’t eat burnt toast at home so wouldn’t expect to be served it whilst out. The restaurant did remove this from the bill at my request. Based on other reviews, maybe it was an off day for Ruby’s but definitely won’t be going back

Meals we chose came with a lovely fresh salad and large portion sizes which is brilliant after a day Walking along the beach! Lovely ambiance and atmosphere would definitely come again. Daughter wasn't keen on her sausage and mash though but everything else was perfect! Gorgeous cake choices too

Had seen this little cafe on a hill fir the past couple of days and thought we would give it a go,well I’m so pleased we did.The staff was lovely went above and beyond and the food was Amazing.My BLT with the extra crispy bacon and that bread was truly delicious.As if it couldn’t get any better the cakes is a MUST!!

Enjoyed a lovely late lunch at Ruby’s. Sat outside and staff were friendly and attentive - covid related measures were in place and felt safe whilst still keeping as much normality as possible. Food was delicious - just what we were after following a lovely walk along the sea front.

After reading many reviews I'm rather concerned that if I have a dog or a pet that I'm fond of, that I would be sitting outside and staff would ignore me, leaving me fecked and hungary

Visiting the town of Felixstoew, we were going to simply add breakfast to the cost of our hotel room, but our family living close by suggested we meet in Ruby's for breakfast.That meant that I didn't have to get up too early, and it also meant that I would have the advantage of a pleasing stroll along the front getting there, hence sharpening the appetite.Ruby's was much as one might expect a seaside cafe to be. It was clean, very busy, and the back room had nice views across the sea. Breakfast came in various forms and sizes. I had a small breakfast, which by my standards was gargantuan. The large breakfast is superhuman.Not greasy, nicely cooked, well presented and pleasantly served.Excellent value as well. I will certainly do this again when I next visit. I was glad of the walk back along the prom to get more exercise.Much needed!

Left after sitting outside for 10 mins.Staff clearly noticed us but ignored us. When we left the two staff members seem to think it was amusing. Such a shame as we've eaten here lots of times. Never again.

Visited Wednesday late morning with my son. He had a large breakfast and I the regular vegetarian one. Absolutely delicious with plenty of toast and butter. Super value and served by happy smiling staff . Highly recommended. 😊

Visited recently and had their Grandma's beef stew and dumplings. It was one of the best meals I have ever enjoyed in a restaurant. Before bringing it, the waitress asked if I also wanted a spoon and with that and the slice of lovely white bread the plate hardly needed any attention from a dishwasher.Because everyone is welcome then inevitably it may be a bit noisy with young families, but the attention given to young children was worth seeing.

My husband and I regularly come to Ruby’s for breakfast or lunch. Can’t fault the food or service. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food is always freshly made and the premises are clean.

My Nan was so impressed by the nut roast at Ruby's that she's asked me to write a review for her on Trip Advisor (she doesn't have the internet). She was so impressed with how delicious the food was, not to mention the size of the portion but was most enthralled by the wonderful staff who were wonderfully friendly people. We usually visit Ruby’s around twice a month for lunch or coffee/ cake. Never ever disappointed! Today was home made lasagne served with chips and salad. Amazzzzzzing! Thank you!

Staggered in, dripping wet from a rain beaten walk on the sea front to a lovely warm atmosphere, welcoming staff, delicious lattes, and a yummy date and honey layered flapjack 😋😋😋 100% recommend 👍

Booked table for lunch. Very polite staff and excellent service. All guests had roast beef, but other menu is available. Very reasonable prices, and very generous portions, vegetable choice was really good. The only criticism was that Yorkshire puddings were heavy. Gravy was lovely . Give it a try, as lovely views over spa gardens and you can see the sea. Excellent

This is our second visit to Ruby's and we will definitely be coming again! Last time we had lunch and a glass of wine, this time we had the lovely breakfast - good quality ingredients and friendly service. Great place!

Had a lovely roast dinner today, I'm gluten and dairy intolerant and they were very happy to cater for my needs. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely and the staff are welcoming and very helpful I strongly recommend.

Every time I visit Felixstowe I always visit Ruby’s for breakfast, lunch or just for a coffee and cake. Today I have experienced their wonderful roast dinners, it’s like having a home cooked roast with plenty of veg, didn’t have room to have a pudding. Highly recommended!

Came in for a spot of lunch and they have recently added homemade pies and roast dinners as getting to that cold time of year. Opted for the Steak and Ghost ship ale pie.. hands down the best pie I've had.. perfectly cooked with tender meat, mixed veg and amazing gravy! Highly recommend!

Walked past Ruby's Kitchen and knew I would like it - was somehow drawn to it (moth to a flame and all that). Arranged to meet friends I hadn't seen for a while for lunch - 3 hours later....... we had a great time!!! Food great, service brilliant, and while I gossiped and chattered away like a clucking hen, ordering alcoholic refreshments we were NOT met with any problems from staff trying to move us on NOR interrupted by noisy sighing and impatient tray slamming as is the case in many seaside cafes. If you're ever in Felixstowe, have a visit, it's great!

Go regularly to Rubys. Their staff are very friendly and deliver great food at really decent prices. It is always busy which says it all!

We often visit Ruby’s for morning coffee or for lunch. The staff are always friendly and personable and the coffee choices are varied as is the menu, not to mention the wonderful cakes.

3 of us had an afternoon tea a couple of weeks ago. It was delicious, more than enough and very reasonably priced.

A alright cafe if you want a drink and cake the staff were alright a couple liked to talk and whisper but besides that a good experience

had lunch here . 2 New waitresses one with mauve hair other tall one, keep asking if they can remove our plate before we had finished our meal. Very annoying each time stop for a break.'can i take your plate' also heard it happen to someone else too.

Unpretentious, friendly and good value for money. Breakfasts, snacks and lunches are all excellent. Nothing fancy but they fill the bill. Best coffee in Felixstowe. Probably also the best cakes. A go-to destination.

Went on my own for lunch. Welcomed, friendly service, superb tempura prawns. Then had a pudding which wasn't quite as good but still nice. Great place to eat - lovely views, and good service. I look forward to going again.

We often pop into here for a bite to eat when passing on the way to the beach: fresh homestyle food and tasty not the usual sort you are given at generic Cafe's. Our latest mid morning treat was a large slice of Cake with coffee for £3 which is good value for money. There are a couple of outside tables at the front of the Café, conservatory to the rear plus the main serving area so although not a large establishment they make the most of the space available and it's always nice to be served by Staff who genuinely appear happy in their jobs!

Just what Felixstowe needs a drop in place for platters to share.

This cafe is the best in Felixstowe and now they are opening in the evening from 5.30 to 9.30 on Thursday Friday and Saturday. Went to the opening night and it was amazing. The food was tasty great atmosphere and the staff so helpful and happy. It was a great night. Will be going again. Well done.

Just had one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Staff are super friendly and polite. Plus they have a small section at the front you can take your dog into. Will definitely be making repeated visits.

i had a large breakfast when i came here with my wife, i don’t think the bacon was cook properly but amazing sausages. my wife had a bacon and egg sandwich and again the bacon wasn’t right it left us both with upset stomachs for the rest of the day. lovely place was just upset by that.

On the day of our visit Ruby’s was full. Having been recommended by family to visit (we are from the North) we decided on a take away lunch and hot drinks.

Visited on a hot day, desperate for a cold drink, but particularly wanted a very cold strawberry milk shake, A drink was constructed as per my request, made to order, it went down a treat, thank you for your great service

Brilliant experience from the minute we walked in. The coffee was amazing. So refreshing to find people who listen and give you what you ask for. Poached eggs were very good. Ruby and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and interested in our cycle tour. Thank you for the extra biscuits. They were much appreciated. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Been in a few times now, we have actually travelled from Ipswich just to eat here.

The portion size was good, and food quality was amazing we loved it.

We visited Ruby’s when staying in Felixstowe after reading some of the great reviews. We were certainly not disappointed the loose leaf tea is lovely and the warm homemade scones delicious, all served with a warm and friendly service. We will be coming back for lunch before we leave.

The small cooked breakfast was reasonably well prepared and filling, a little over cooked, but I suppose that is down to personal preference.

Yummy lunch in a lovely environment. We sat on the balcony under an umbrella, giving ample shade. The balcony is a sun trap but not too hot. The food was delicious (I had a sausage and egg sandwich with Halloumi fries whilst my husband had a jacket potato with cheese and tuna) and superbly sized. I giggly recommend Polly's and am certain to return very soon.

So glad we found this place for lunch - really good food at a good price. Friendly staff, the balcony is clean and tidy and enjoyed the sun with shade for those who want it.
