My friend and I ate in the dog friendly area of restaurant and were made to feel most welcome by the friendly staff. The carvery did not disappoint. Huge portions, a good choice of meats, vegetables cooked to perfection and it was all delicious. The Yorkshire puddings are huge so I opted for half of one. Probably the best carvery I have ever eaten, only wish I lived nearer.

The carvery was faultless. Everything was cooked to perfection. Best root mash I've ever had. Giant yorkshire puddings and plenty of choices for everyone. The place itself was dated and the pelmet curtains retain a smell that's wafted when the AC or the fan that looked like AC came on. There were lots of staff. Couldn't tell if any of them wanted to be there. Think they could all do with a course in how to be customer focussed and smile.

The newly refurbished accommodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable but, the staff are what makes Hermanus so special, always warm, friendly and welcoming. UPDATED REVIEW Gorgeous views and they keep a great pint here. More reasonably priced than the pub in the village, too. Staff are lovely, most especially Liz. Good pub grub, reasonably priced, decent portions and yum. Sunday carvery is popular and again, good solid pub grub. There's a wheelchair ramp to get into the bar or one of the function rooms, although the turning circle is tight, especially if you're in a powered wheelchair. The doors are glass and the doorways are standard sized, not the 1 metre required to claim wheelchair accessibility. Wheelchair access to the disabled loo, I found out, is around the outside of the building. No signposts or anything. Right in front of the disabled loo is a path of deep, deep gravel. Guess what happens when you try and take a wheelchair through deep gravel? Yep. You get stuck 😱 What's the point of having a wheelchair accessible toilet with a moat full of gravel that PREVENTS ACCESS? I ended up grounded out, having to shout for help, in full view of a function room full of people. So excruciatingly humiliating 😔 The lack of accessible entrances and the gravel moat means I can only rate this 3 stars, which is a shame. In response to James from management's reply, where he states "we are a family run buisness (sic) and not a multimillion pound company" may I remind you that if you claim to be wheelchair accessible, you have to meet certain criteria. And you unfortunately don't. Accessibility reviewers have been asked by Google to check up on claims made by places, hence the update to my review. And whether or not you are a family run business (THATS how you spell it) or a multimillion pound company, you are bound by the same UK laws governing disabled access. And wheelchair users such as myself are 'nice' - see the positive comments above - but we're fed up of being treated like second class citizens when the law says we are EQUAL. So...YOU have a lovely (THATS how you spell it) day 😁 and try not to get so butt-hurt by criticism. 🅿️ Parking spaces? ✅ Good sized car park, not lined out in boxes 🅿️♿ Accessible spaces? ❌ No dedicated accessible spaces, however, see last remark ♿ Wheelchair accessible? ❌ There is a ramp at the back, however the entrance is through a couple of standard sized doorways with glass doors. This doesn't meet accessibility criteria of 1 metre width. In addition, it only gives you access to the bar and one of the function rooms. The rest of the complex is down a set of stairs. 🚻 Toilets? ✅ Although I can't comment on them, since I'm a wheelchair user. 🚻♿ Accessible toilets? ❌ Going to have to rate this as a no, since the whole point of accessibility is to allow you to have independence. When you place deep gravel in front of the only entrance to your disabled toilet, you are cutting off the disabled person from their independence! 💳 Pay by card? ✅ 🛜 WiFi?❓ Unknown, however I didn't pick up any potential networks while I was there. 🦮 Dog friendly? ❌ No dogs allowed inside

We had a 13.30 reservation for the Carvery. Staff were super friendly but the food did not live up to expectations. The pork was tough and overcooked plus there was no crackling left, and none was offered when I asked. The sprouts sere undercooked and solid. Roast potatoes overcooked and burnt. Swede was not properly mashed and lukewarm. Was disappointing, as it had been recommended to us by a family member.

Been staying at Hermanus several times a year over the last seven years and can honestly say we have had some great times with friends and family and have always enjoyed the great walks along the coast. especially at the breading times for the grey seals and common seals at Horsey gap. But recently prices have gone up. It’s a sign of the times but this price raise has made them more expensive then renting a cottage which has more space and added privacy. I know Hermanus have more facilities like pub restaurant and swimming pool. But some people go for the break and peace and quite and do not use the facilities. Sorry to say it will be a cottage from now on.

Came as a family for Sunday Roast - despite seeming to have a lot of staff they mainly kept themselves tucked away inside the building resulting in long queues to be seated, long queues to order and an apparent lack of interest in diners who had finished meals and were waiting for plates to be cleared and deserts to be served. Roast was nowhere near what it used to be like - such a shame as this was such a jewel. Did not feel welcome, felt we were an inconvenience.

We came over to Norfolk for five days to visit my Dad who works out here, he knew of this restaurant and took us out for a meal. We arrived, having not booked, we were in luck to be seated by a waitress. The table decor was very fancy, a lot of effort had clearly gone into the restaurant. All food was absolutely excellent, the lasagne was to die for! Not one of us could fault the food, the kitchen staff obviously very talented. The waitress, on the other hand, why was she running everywhere? On the wooden floors, you could feel the bounce from underneath you as you were trying to eat. She was racing around everywhere, huffing and puffing, it really ruined what you would expect to be a really peaceful meal. If the place was hectic with customers, I would understand, as she appeared to be with only one other staff member, but the place was quiet and having previously been a waitress myself in a large country pub, I could not get my head around why she was getting so stressed, running around the place and getting so out of breath because of it. Taking a table’s order and then running up to the till to put it through. The restaurant is only small, fifteen tables maximum? Running from one side to the other is not necessary. It really ruined the atmosphere of the meal, we couldn’t relax and I got similar vibes off the tables around us. She ran past us as we attempted to ask for the bill, had to suddenly stop in her stride, so out of breath. We were seated right up next to the front desk, we overheard her cut off a customer mid conversation when they were asking about a booking so she could run into the kitchen as soon as the bell went. Really disappointing to have to give only three stars as the meals were faultless. Waitress needs to understand that she is a human being, not a robot. Slow down.

We booked a Friday evening here as we were having a short break in Winterton. We arrived to find a table in the window with great views over the sand dunes, so thought how lucky, however this was spoilt by the fact of repeated staff and customers standing at the front step smoking, which is literally by the window we were seated at, so felt like we were in a zoo! I see James, the manager comments on reviews, so perhaps could take action for future customers? We were the only table in, which is always a worry for a Friday night in May. The food was average for the price. I ordered a lamb kofta as a starter, but was informed that they had no lamb, but could do chicken, which I went for, but when it arrived, they were tiny chicken skewers, the kind we have bought before frozen, not worth the money. The rest of the meal was okay, but not as good as I would hope. On a positive note the waiting staff were great. Friendly, helpful and attentive.

Extremely disappointing experience as residents as bed and breakfast at the hotel is not cheap. The juice was orange coloured but had probably never seen an orange, no option of fruit or yoghurt with cereals (you can have either/ or), no choice of milk offered, no toast unless you have full English, no top up of tea or coffee offered and a chipped plate. Staff unable to confirm ingredients in a Continental breakfast which in any event apparently comes ready plated. It all seemed a bit penny pinching and for the sake of offering a couple of slices of toast and a pot of yoghurt a bit pathetic.

Lovely venue (we sat in the courtyard garden), attentive but not over attentive staff and lovely food. Had the big breakfast and it was great and so big I skipped lunch!
