This is an excellent place for a full English breakfast and a good coffee. The restaurant is in The Barns, Great Walsingham and is perfectly placed for cyclists on the national cycle route, visitors to the shrines in Little Walsingham, and visitors to this beautiful part of North Norfolk, a mere 5 miles from the coast.

After three hours drive to our holiday accommodation just noticed this lovely location for a brunch/lunch stop. Perfect spot, warm welcome and lovely fresh, homemade food selection. I had the quiche and salad and hubby had a generous cheese omelette and chips. Beautifully presented and delicious. Met the lovely Misha, resident doggy. Obrennans is not just dog friendly but dog welcoming. The Sunday lunch sounded amazing but we had other commitments - hopefully next visit. Do check opening times if planning a visit.

We arrived at 2.01pm (lunch finished at 2.00). We wanted a pie and salad which was on offer with a garnish, but not salad after 2.00pm. I asked why they couldn’t give us just a but more ‘garnish’ but this was not possible. By the time we had discussed it, they could have put the salad together! Apparently, they were preparing for Sunday lunch. Very disappointing indeed and very surprised at the lack of flexibility here. We will certainly not be going back.

We went here for brunch and it was really good. Well cooked and very substantial. Some of the dishes were too big for the members of the party with smaller apetites and I would strongly suggest they consider offering smaller portions. Seemed a real shame to throw away the eggs and smoked salmon that they weren't able to finish. One small gripe, the toast/bread order was wrong on several orders - it was a bit too hard for some people to manage

Went to cafe as consequence of reading good reviews. We arrived late shortly before closing time and were told that we could only buy pies to takeaway. We bought three different pies but all suffered from the same problem. Nice pastry, tasty filling but little meat in any of them. The chicken pie had a few pieces of chicken but the steak and Stilton pie did not contain a recognisable piece of meat bigger than a shred. The meat and potato pie was little better.

We saw the signs for the Barns which advertised a gallery with gifts and jewellery. Loads of parking overlooking a great countryside view. We decided to go to this “dog friendly” cafe to have a pie for lunch. We sat at a table slightly out of the way so that we could tuck the dogs into a corner so not to disturb anyone. We had been there for about 5 minutes when a lady from the kitchen marched over and said “if there is just two of you can you sit on a table for two?” With that she then picked up a Reserved sign on one of the tables of two and threw it on our table and said that the other table wasn’t reserved anymore! (Not sure how we were supposed to know this?!) We choose not to sit there because it was very cramped in the middle of the room so our only alternative was the other 2 seater table near the door which meant people would have tripped over our dogs as soon as they got in the cafe! Having sat there a couple of minutes we decided to leave, why should we pay to be spoken to in such a way?! The sad thing was that we had planned to make it a regular place for lunch during the winter because it is close to where we walk the dogs. There are lots of more welcoming options around Norfolk so we will be looking elsewhere! If the problem is the dogs then why are you dog friendly?! Manners are free and in the depths of winter when the holiday makers have gone I would have though the extra regular custom would have been welcomed, obviously not!

Whenever we want a lovely Sunday roast without the hassle of cooking at home, we head to Walsingham Barns Cafe. Paul consistently serves up a wonderful roast, usually either pork or beef along with all the extras. Good-sized portions that will leave you unable to eat anything else that day. You can also take along your own tipple - as it doesn’t have a drinks licence. Paul has won many medals for his excellent pies and puds. A hard-working family-run business that deserves all the praise it can get. Check out their opening times - usually closed Monday and Tuesday.

My friend said she really wanted to go back to this cafe, as they'd won awards for their pies and her last visit was tea and cake. Normally, pie would be my last choice as Im not usually a fan of pastry, but the menu was limited to pie, tart or, well pie. So thought I would give it a try as I was really hungry. As I hadn't had rabbit in ages, I ordered the rabbit, pork and Apple pie with new potatoes and gravy. We'd just done a lovely brisk walk to see the snowdrpps at Walsingham Abbey, and worked up a hearty appetite! ALL I can say is that I take back the pie disdain as this one was gorgeous, thick flaky melt in your mouth pastry surrounding a very richinside with tasty gravy and perfect potatoes. Yum, yum..nearly bought a couple to bring home and now kicking myself that I didn't! Will definitely go back next time I'm up there, and bring some home.

When we commented on our visit last year the owner responded “I have no idea about the pre-reserved tables, something we do not do” so when we called in again recently we were surprised to see lots of empty tables with “RESERVED” signs perched upon them. Has policy here changed ? This is a popular venue but not worth making the trip on potentially busy days if it’s not clear whether its friends first or whether anyone can and should phone ahead to reserve. That said food is still very nice and service pleasant if a bit slow.

This is our favourite place to eat in North Norfolk. Finding put to eat in was only on Sundays presently we booked in and were thrilled that the food and hospitality remain 5 star. The ladies who served us did so with grave and humour. There were 9 of us and everyone was looked after fully. The pies are indeed delicious with jugs of gravy adding to the joy of the meal. There was proper veg with cabbage carrots and creamed leek. The thrice cooked chips should have their own restaurant as they are so sublime. Puddings are equally delicious as the pies. Homemade and served with jugs I'd custard. We hope that more days are added as we could only visit one day this holiday. Brilliant. Already looking forward to next year.

This has been one of our go to cafes in the area, off the beaten track, consistently good food and a traditional feel. A great destination for cyclists too. Three weeks ago we were surprised to find the cafe closed for 'hot food' though open for takeaways and we enjoyed a coffee and scone sitting at one of the half dozen tables outside. Today we returned for a Saturday morning coffee and scone only to find they were still 'closed for hot food' but we were allowed to sit inside, for our coffee, cup of tea and 2 cheese scones. Well. the cheese scones were simply awful, very stale - my wife didn't eat more than a mouthful - and the service was far from enthusiastic. Usually the scones are well presented with a little salad and chutney, today just a stale scone and today we noted that the price seemed high. Notably we were the only customers at 11.30 on a Saturday morning in mid-August. Asking why the cafe was closed now we were told they were two busy with outside orders. What shame, many more weeks of this and their regulars will all disappear, if they haven't already. A real disappointment!

Our first visit to Norfolk and so we had to look around for recommendations. We saw this on TA with notes about an excellent Sunday Lunch. We booked up a week or so before we visited, definitely something you need to do. We arrived and were seated immediately by a very friendly staff member. Drinks arrived and then did the Sunday roast. The portion size was excellent, I can see why the veg came in a separate bowl, there was not room on the plate. The quality was so good and we both managed to finish it all (struggled) and went back to rest in the garden. Desserts were tempting but there was no way we could manage them. They also have a large selection of pies which you could buy and takeaway, which we did for later in the week. It felt like going round to Gran’s for Sunday Lunch, where she would feed you up with good grub. We would definitely recommend and visit again if possible.

Myself, my wife and a couple of close friends stayed in a delightful cottage for a couple of nights, virtually opposite the café. Naturally to avoid the necessity of cooking breakfast for ourselves, we visited Great Walsingham Barns Café on both mornings. We didn't really know anything about it, other than it was there, and obviously convenient, but happiness always comes through a door you never knew you'd left open.

I visited with Grandad and from the moment we entered we had superb service. Happy smiley Ali served us and did everything for us to make our visit special. My chicken, bacon and tarragon pie was out of this world, the best pie I’ve ever had. Grandad had venison and black currant with gravy. He even managed a treacle sponge pudding for desert. A little bit of heaven on Earth. He took a goats cheese, onion marmalade and tomato quiche home with pear and almond tart for Grandma. Yummy.

This is a fabulous little cafe serving the best pies! Dogs allowed at the outside tables. Well worth finding it even though it is off the beaten track.

We arrived on one of the hottest days of the year to find it closed!!!!! There was a gentleman inside who couldn't put his phone down to let us know what was going on

Cycled there from Wells for afternoon tea. Arrived 15:50. Stated closing time on door was 16:00. However on enquiring at the entrance we were told they were closed. Pretty poor.

Of course everyone had to have a holiday, BUT, when your website states “closed Monday and Tuesday”; and there is no mention of being closed for holidays from 9th July, it is both disappointing and frankly annoying when we had made arrangements to meet friends there for lunch, to arrive find the doors closed and a hand written note advising they were closed for holidays.

We stopped here for Sunday lunch on the walk from Sheringham back to Cromer after Sunday morning church at Life Church in Sheringham. Conveniently situated just a few minutes from the coast path. Although we had not booked they were able to accommodate us in the garden. Food was excellent and seemed good value.

The food was very good well cooked and presented, we had to wait for a while before our order was placed, however it's a busy local pub which caters for holiday makers also so this could have been the reason for the wait. Cheerful and pleasant staff, I would certainly eat there again.

WOW …What a find … great food choices . But just needed a coffee and coffee cake before going to the beach. Lovely friendly staff …Fantastic to know they have staff with learning difficulties who were so polite friendly and even gave my dog a treat . It will be my regular from now on . Many thanks

Been here before as we are fairly local and it was good. But this time terrible and very expensive we had roast pork with apple sauce, stuffing and crackling. Meat was mostly really Fatty and baguette was filled mostly with stuffing best bit was the crackling. At £8 each I expect far better just ripping off the holiday makers. Don’t think we will be going again. It was barely warm so back to the pie man at sheringham for us.
