I haven't been to Dunwich for about 15 years. I remember there used to be a great tea room back then that my mother recommended! This must have long since gone! We had walked cross country from Southwold forgetting what a long walk it is We discovered dingle tea rooms at the end of the walk in a rural setting. It's a lovely setting with extensive barns and tables. Having frequented similar establishments in other parts of the country I thought we were in for a treat Nothing was wrong with the food it was just a little uninspiring. Very plain cakes and prawn sandwiches made from those tiny prawns you buy trozen. All nicely served by attentive waiting staff it just lacked that lush factor that you sometimes find in these sort of places. Maybe my expectations were too high.....

We visit the Dingle Hill Tearooms whenever we are in the area and are pleased to say it’s always good and never disappoints. The staff work hard and are always friendly and ready to assist should there be dietary requests. It’s a lovely setting to escape to and enjoy the relaxing surroundings.

We always come here on our annual trip to Southwold or Walberswick since it's a lovely walk or cycle ride from there. Usually the cream teas are to die for, but on this occasion, they had run of of fruit scones at 130pm and again at 11am the next day. Our companions wanted sausage rolls instead but they had run out of those as well. It's a bit odd for a tea room to run out of scones. The staff were apologetic enough but no 5* review from us this year sadly.

My husband and I came across this lovely tearoom whilst out walking back to Walberswick from Dunwich. It was a timely find, as we were concerned that any refreshments would have to wait until we reached the end of our walk. We sat in the pretty garden and enjoyed a sausage roll and cheese scone, before continuing on with our walk. It was just what we needed. The homemade cakes also looked delicious, although we didn’t try them. Service was prompt and friendly. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Came here today for a coffee and cake after a walk. This place is always lovely, the cake, home made coffee and walnut, was very moist and fresh, the cappuccino very nice. The best cafe in the area in our opinion. Large car park for customers too, very peaceful to sit outside. Friendly efficient service. Highly recommended, thanks once again.

We had a nice lunch and the staff were friendly. We were going to have a short walk and then return for a cuppa and cake. However the owner chased us out of the car park. He was rude and mean. And a little investigation has shown that he makes google entries and blames the neighbours when others complain of the same thing. What a shame. Won't return and we'll be telling others not to bother. You've been rumbled!

There are some unfortunately crass reviews on this site from people who somehow expected to get served after closing time or thought it important to review that the dogs drinking water wasn’t good, etc. In contrast my experience today was that the tearoom continues to be a lovely peaceful location to enjoy both good quality coffee and an enjoyable lunch. My wife and I arrived after a walk from Walberswick and were revived by excellent flat white coffees which were fairly large and contained two shots. I then enjoyed a chicken and avocado sandwich together with salad and crisps which was substantial. My wife thought her cheese scone and chutney was delicious. The atmosphere was very relaxed and we chatted with other happy visitors. The staff who served us were friendly and helpful. We’ll look forward to visiting again in the future.

Dingle hill tea rooms is a lovely place to visit in the summer for a bite to eat in there well maintained outdoor dining areas in a peaceful environment with pleasant friendly staff, I’ve been coming here for years as I live in the area. We bring our family here when they visit. They have a good selection of food and drinks. We usually opt for the cream tea which used to be lovely. Sadly the scones were so dry you couldn’t cut it in half to put the jam and cream on as it just crumbled into multiple pieces! For all the years we have visited we got two scones now you only get the one😢 sorry but I won’t be recommending or returning again as we were so disappointed after I had told everyone they were in for a real treat.

After a long circular walk we were delighted to see the ‘open’ sign at roadside for this tearoom. We walked the 150 yards looking forward to a refreshing cuppa. Sadly met with a very curt response that tearoom had shut five minutes previously. I asked the chef politely saying we only wanted a tea but again no eye contact and a dismissive response. Big mistake - HUGE! We won’t be returning and certainly won’t recommend.

So got up got a refund which wasn't a problem, but owner seemed pleased to be shot of us!! A few other tables departed as well, we all had a chat about the shocking service. Just very unorganised. Have visited three time recently and service and food excellent. The Chef and front of house staff were pleasant and accommodating, and the breakfasts were good if a bit expensive. We used to visit when it sold plants, but it has moved on now offering barn-stays accommodation. I used to know the owner-Amanda- from years back when she sold eggs from markets with her former husband, so I wrote to her congratulating her on her tea-rooms, and asking if my wife could have the recipe for the delicious cheese scones. I emailed four times, and thought the request was testimony to the kitchen skills. Alas no reply, which I thought discourteous, even a ‘sorry, we don’t do recipes’ but not a peep. Lovely visit to Dunwich marred by feeling ridiculed and embarrassed publicly at Dingle Hill Tearooms after requesting clean water in the buckets for a friend’s dog, which was refused. I was told I was being ‘very silly’ not wanting the dog to drink dirty, stagnant water and that the dog wouldn’t care. As a local business owner I know the price of courtesy and manners, it means repeat business and recommendations. There is no excuse for being rude to paying customers

No booking was made with this tearoom, however you may wish to book in advance based on the fact that most tables were occupied in the time we were there. The tearooms are easy to find, has on-site car parking but is easily accessible on foot from anywhere in Dunwich. All seating is currently outside (Covid-19 restrictions apply), however each table has a waterproof linen parasol to provide shelter (and it worked as the there was a heavy shower during our stay). We entered, were warmly welcomed by staff who provided a friendly and efficient service from beginning to end and sat at our chosen table which was large and well-spaced from others. The table menu was comprehensive enough for most tastes and we were quickly able to order (ordering procedures in this age of Covid-19 were really clear). Our chosen items, toasted sandwiches and hot drinks, arrived quickly and were off good quality, well presented, of a decent portion size and were considered value for money. This was the perfect lunch time stopping place and I would recommend it to anyone staying or visiting Dunwich.

We always return to Dingle Hill tea rooms when in Suffolk, and have done for more years than I can remember. We were a little apprehensive this time due to the restrictions but everything was well planned with very informative notices when you arrive and sit down. The food and service was the usual high standards. We visited three times whilst on holiday this time. The only thing which spoilt it a little was a family of four who arrived with three large Dalmatian dogs which they treated like babies. Not a problem if that’s how they want to treat them, but they sat next to us, proceeded to ignore the table blocking off the gardens and walked their dogs up there, so they could ‘do their business’. The father then stood up, lit a cigarette, smoked it, putting us off our lunch with the smell, then flicked the remains over the fence into the gardens. They had walked in past a sign stating no smoking at all. Not anything at all that the tearoom could do, if asked not to smoke they would’ve probably got a mouthful of abuse. Great place, highly recommended but ignore the odd scroaty families.

Having not visited the area for many years, we discovered the DINGLE HILL TEA ROOMS .... we used to visit the plant centre and its tea rooms many years ago and wondered "if it was still there" ..... Well it is, under different management (and without the plants for sale). As we were camping in the area we popped in for Breakfast - the food was lovely and, fortunately the weather was OK for sitting out of doors (there currently is no indoor provision due to COVID regulations) - good service and pleasant staff - we will definately return when next in the area.

I come here with my family all the time. Absolutely lovely. One little thing: please can you mix the tuna and mayo in your tuna mayo sandwiches. Thank you!!

Good service, very nice food and drink.Tables well spaced and a bottle of sanitizer available. However table condiments and menus 9n the tables - out so everyone touching as they use.You can see in kitchens and did not any staff including those serving wearing either disposable gloves or any kind of face covering.

Had family lunch all dishes were fresh and delicious. Made granddaughter an off menu jam sandwich with no problem. Pots of tea come with hot water for a top up. Not first visit and will not be the last.

Authentic Pie, Mash n' liquor in Felixstowe - I popped in here after a couple of beers on the front - lovely pies, good old mash and proper liquor - knife, fork and spoon for the liquor, with vinegar, just like in London SE1 - interesting photos of England football stars and a bit of banter with the owner. All in all a great lunch and long may they thrive in Felixstowe.

Had a lovely afternoon tea, which was beautifully presented. Nice to have the option to have it at lunchtime as ‘lunch’ although we still didn’t manage it all! Took the rest home for later - also lovely to be able to bring our dog too!
