It’s always wonderful to visit Fritton Lake, laid back luxury with such beautiful grounds, great food and lovely atmosphere. Every member of staff is so friendly and helpful, the Club House beautifully decorated. It’s a rare treat to find somewhere as lovely as this, and it’s dog friendly!

It was a very damp and showery morning and we weren’t sure if the restaurant was even open! But we tried the door and it was . The lady on the bar asked the kitchen if they were still serving breakfast (it was only 10.10am) and they were. We sat down and there was a very damp smell in the room. Which was a little off putting but We ordered full English and Vegan breakfast, both with coffee. The coffee were served piping Hot which was lovely as usually they go cold before breakfast is served. But breakfast came and coffee was still hot!. Breakfast was also really hot and delicious, good local produce and served with a smile. Deffo come back again! Serves lunches and coffee and cake too so worth drying at different times of the day.

This place has really gone downhill since I last visited, probably pre-lockdown. It was always a little pricey but today I paid £11 for a very small plate of uninspiring looking, lukewarm, almost tasteless cheesy bubble and squeak that seemed to have come straight from the freezer to the microwave, topped with an egg and two chipolata-sized sausages that also seemed to have been microwaved as they were rubbery and tough. My grandson does not like eggs, so I asked if he could have an extra sausage instead, but was told that it was not possible unless I paid an extra £3, so he had the meal without an egg, but I still had to pay the full price. The drinks were very pricey too. This place used to have a really interesting deli and food/drink shop, which was a real part of its charm, but this has also gone. The menu is very limited In summary, very pricey and the food was extremely disappointing. I felt very dissatisfied and won't be returning.

Inedible food and the rudest staff I came across with in my life. Avoid at all costs! The first time we ever been told to go by the chef who’s actually wasn’t even professional enough to handle a complaint.Being in hospitality in most of my life working in 5* London hotels I never came across with anything like it. Honestly don’t even bother to go in. The place is musty and dusty I am actually surprised we decided to order food there. All and all a horrible experience.

Nine years on from a previous visit it was utterly disappointing. The menu was a laminated A4 which bore no resemblance to that advertised on their website. The food would not even come up to a decent pub lunch, they brag about 2 Rosettes but where do they get them? Certainly cannot be based on the dire attempt we experienced and despite the good service and surroundings we will not be back.

They really are missing a trick! I visited the pub twice last week, once with a friend and second time with family, both days were very sunny, the pub inside and out was very quiet and there seemed to be at least 2 members of FOH staff working. On our first visit myself and my friend made our way indoors to order as there was no menu on the tables or signage to explain if it was table service or order at the bar. We went to the bar area and as we were inside we just ordered there, a club baguette and a fish finger sarnie (baguette so maybe shouldnt call it a sarnie). We then made our way back out side but struggled to find somewhere to sit as the garden area has ridiculous plastic/faux leather seat and table toppers plus they are situated under the wrong king of coverage that attracts heat rather than shelters it. We ended up in the top corner which is covered with perspex and seats around 8 people (there was 2 of us). Out food arrive pretty quickly and the sever was very pleasant (blond hair) she asked if we canted sauce then went to retrieve it, my club baguette was very odd as it had avocado and crispy onions on rather than Lettuce and tomato. I said to the girl and she just laughed it off and said our shef is baulgarian or polish or something and walked away. I was left stunned but didn't take it any further, took of the bits it didn't want and eat my baguette and drank my beer. I thought £42 for 2 baguettes and 2 beers was a bit of an expensive lunch. The next day we had been out walking with family who are local and we stopped of withfor a drink and a light bite to eat. There was 6 adults and 4 children. Asmy family had been the week previous they were aware of the children eat for £1 per eating adult. We made out decisions on what we wanted and when the server came she then advised us we could not get this offer from the lunch time menu (although they did the week before) we needed a little more time to decide what to do as it was lunch time we didn't want to eat off the Al a carte menu. We decided just to get a couple of share items for the adults and get an adults plain cheese burger and one kids meal to make use of the deal but just to share both of these between the 4 children. I made sure the server (young, black hair) knew it was a plain cheese burger and I even asked if it came with side salad which she confirmed so I asked if there could be no dressing on it. It took a really long time for the small amount of food to come out and by this time the kids were really unsettled, there was only one other table so really un acceptable. Straight away I noticed that the burger was chicken and there was no salad it was coleslaw. The sever was adamant we ordered the chicken royal as that's what she written down, I assured her this was not the case as I asked for cheese only and salad? She proceeded to say it was us to us what to do as the kids were unsettled it would take some more time to get the new one and the chef decided that burgers now come with coleslaw. The chicken looked like it was dry and coated in something so we asked her what the casting was but she didn't know and didn't offer to find out so we said no we want the cheese burger as we ordered so she proceeded to organise this. The server did bring out an undressed side salad and whe the burger arrived it was missing the cheese? She just brought some separate as we were loosing the will by this point. The inside of the bar is very nice? The elmemis soap and hand cream in the ladies toilets is a nice touch but the toilets have a extremely bad damp smell in them. The establishment is missing a trick! You could do so much and have the place bustling as it's the only place in Haughton conquest to eat or drink out. This might be the reason why it's not closed downby now as everytime we have been in there has been problems plus my family also constantly have issues discussing them with management seems to be on death ears. A real shame. Maybe someone will but the closed pub down the road and show them.how to run a village pub with success- a real shame

Booked a table for 14 as a birthday celebration (would of thought we’d be inside) Put outside on 2 benches. Moved a third to make enough room for everyone Pre-ordered food as was told to avoid disappointment. Waiters DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE what they were serving,… “I don’t know” tried serving a ‘chicken burger’ as a beef burger, didn’t ask if there was anything else etc **THE CHICKEN BURGERS WERE NOT CHICKEN!!!!!!!!** When ordering a chicken burger you expect a chicken breast or a battered piece of chicken. It was pork. Just like they serve at McDonald’s as a breakfast pattie!! The ‘homemade beef burger’ was not homemade. Kids pasta was just a plate of tagliatelle, no garlic bread, salad etc for £8. Children came home hungry! Not one check back during the meal. Food not eaten and when the plates were collected the waiters didn’t ask if everything was ok. Not one member of staff asked if everything was ok Shocking service!

Visited on Friday for a pre weekend dinner as it was the closest venue to where I was staying and looked nice. We were greeted by a lovely young waitress behind the bar and placed our drinks orders to decide what we would be having to eat. At a first glance I must say that the menu was great and even had a fabulous section of vegetarian and vegan options. I opted for the 'vegetable and bean chilli' and my friend had the gammon. Now I can't say this is a bad chef as my friend said their gammon was well cooked and enjoyable. I feel the chef needs to try harder when cooking non meat food as the chilli was watery and bland with no vegetables or meat substitute it was just beans in a sauce that resembled tinned tomato soup. I would be happy to come to the restaurant and train him properly so he can learn for future customers on how to create good flavoursome dishes and introduce him to herbs and other important ingredients. I would return just to try the other dishes and see how they compare. I also would like to reiterate what a lovely job the waiter and waitress are doing as they were both very helpful and friendly .

Terrible experience here….we left due to feeling unwelcome and unwanted. And unfortunately for the owners they missed out on our £50 worth of custom. We ended up having a lovely brunch at ‘Monty’s’ round the corner….would highly recommend. I await Paul’s unnecessary and rude reply
