Absolutely amazing place. While food is not on the cheap end, the prices are really low of the amazing quality of the food. The staff are really friendly as well. 10/10 would go here.

I dropped in and got a table. Why was it so hard to get a table when the restaurant had only two others? Three others came in, and a large party sat on the platform area. The food was excellent overall, but it was disappointing to get frozen chips. The mushroom starter was very good, and the Cirus chicken was fresh and tasty, but it was spoilt by the chips.

I arrived at Orton Hotel and Spa after looking at the Hotel online and thinking it was a really nice place. Pictures can be deceiving. When I checked in, I was told there was a formal restaurant and an informal restaurant. I chose the Ramblewood Inn because that was the informal restaurant. I ordered fish and chips with mushy peas and onion rings. The onion rings arrived after the fish and chips, so I didn't eat them, so I have no idea what they tasted like. As for the fish and chips, the chips were the cheap frozen kind you can buy in bags from Freezer Shops such as Iceland. The fish was very small, did not taste like Haddock and I think it was also frozen, certainly not fresh. The mushy peas were not mushy, but garden peas. The meal with 2 soft drinks, a starter and a dessert was just shy of £50. I could have poured some items from the freezer into a deep fat fryer and had the same for a few pounds and no doubt it would have tasted better. You go out for a meal and you expect better. I don't go out to pay £50 for food that someone has poured from a bag into a fryer and then put on a plate.

Nothing Special here, We were staying at the hotel next door but the main restaurant was closed Monday and Tuesday. The service was slow but polite but the food was very average the set up was similar to a pub chain no frills sort of dining. It’s a shame you have a beautiful spar hotel next door but a pub to eat in the evening. Certainly didn’t work for me.

Food service was a little slow but the waiting staff were lovely, so helpful and polite. Food itself was lovely. The fish and chips was my go to and very happy I did. Lovely crispy batter. All in all a good price for a main for 4 adults meals and one child with drinks, under £100 ! Would highly recommend.

This place has so much potential but does not seem to be using it. We popped in for a quick lunch following our spa visit next door. I read the reviews beforehand, which I always do before trusting any restaurant, and having seen they were below 4 *, we still gave it a chance. I thought you can't spoil the soup! We had a broccoli and onion soup, which was absolutely disgusting. If I had not been told what soup was served that day, by no means would I have been able to tell the flavour. As a good eater, not a finicky one, I can say, the soup was inedible. And the prices not reflecting the quality. Sadly, I need to say it is unfair these days to offer something like this! It needs to change!

We organised a family lunch for 12 of us on Sunday February 4th and enjoyed excellent hospitality and service from Andy (the pub manager) and his team. From planning the event, about 10 days beforehand, and right through the actual lunch itself. we were treated like royalty. Everything was perfect and the quality of our Starters, Roast beef lunches and Desserts were at the highest end of the scale of perfection. We had two dogs with us who were also given a very warm welcome with packets of treats and individual water bowls for their comfort. We can thoroughly recommend the Ramblewood and will definitely be visiting them again soon.

We mistakenly gave this restaurant, which is next to the Orton Hall Hotel & Spa, the benefit of the doubt and a second chance. We went there one year ago and it was fine (though nothing extra special), but not this time. On Friday 19th January 2024 we had a meal at The Ramblewood Inn. We are both trying to lower our cholesterol levels (and taking Atorvastatin). With this in mind, my wife chose what looked like a simple meal: pasta and vegetables. But it was seeped in grease, and very oily. She only ate half of it. We mentioned this when the waiter took the plates away. He seemed concerned and asked us if she would like something else. She asked if there was a jacket potato or fresh fruit, but there was neither. Looking back at the menu, all the foods on the menu were fatty and high in cholesterol. She settled for some bread and soup. They reduced the bill, which was fair. However, we had booked a table for Sunday 21st for four people. It was convenient, as it was next to Orton Hall Hotel. My wife chose a vegie burger option (but didn’t eat the chips), so that was okay. My cousin chose the ploughman’s which looked a tad rich, but she seemed okay with it. We asked for the desert menu, but to our surprise we were told that the kitchen was closed. However, thank goodness we did not have deserts, for a few minutes later my cousin said she felt unwell. The restaurant, which was now empty, was suddenly feeling very cold even though she was sitting next to a radiator. She went to sit on another table, as she said she was unwell and was feeling sick. My wife offered to go to the Ladies with her; my cousin tried to stand up and then collapsed on the floor. It was very scary. We called for staff, explained the situation, and then a bucket was brought, and my cousin was sick, several times. We were astonished, and she was embarrassed and apologised. We now all feel convinced that it was the food that caused her to be sick. She had a good night’s sleep and was fine the next day. My wife went to the Ladies after this: it was upstairs and a long way away. My cousin has mobility issues, so there was no way she could have made it to the Ladies. We paid the bill the next day at the Hotel checkout (on the 22nd January) but there were no deductions offered, or apologies, or concern expressed regarding the meal the previous night. We just wanted to leave, rather than haggle. On reflection, and given how events transpired, we thought we should write this review. We will not be going to this restaurant again on our visits to Peterborough. On a positive note, the pool and spa in the Hotel is excellent for health and wellbeing, but the food in The Ramblewood Inn is not.

This was the first visit, and I can’t recommend the staff enough. They were friendly, pleasant and intuitive in dealing with us. We were guided to the bar to eat as the restaurant was very busy and loud. Then the table service in the bar was exceptional. We had a slight issue with the food, but this was swiftly dealt with in a very friendly manner. The food could be better, but still acceptable and if the staff continue to work on this, I would have no hesitation to recommend this inn. Will go again.

Visited with 4 friends. It’s a very dated and needs a refurb. Food was poor to awful and very overpriced for what it was. Their non alcoholic drink choices were very limited - just beers and fizzy drinks, neither of which I particularly like. Staff were friendly enough but did forget to order one of the desserts and we had to chase this up with them. Not a good dining experience unfortunately and had I not been there with a group of friends I would’ve left before ordering.

Without question this was the worst ever meal experience we have ever had. It was as if it was staged as how NOT to prepare and serve food as an example of the worst hospitality ever. We ordered a mixture of mains and starters and asked for them to be served at the same time as vegetarians wanted the starters as their mains plus sides. One starter came first without the sides and there was a 30 minute wait for the rest. The goats cheese starter was sent back as the salad was gritty. When offered another we said no as too much risk but would have a ploughman's without the pork pie and ham at which the server said she would ask the 'chef' as ' they can be funny'! The mac and cheese was the most disgusting ever tasted as it was basically mac and no cheese. Judging by the Ploughman's having a tiny wedge of cheese we assumed the kitchen had run out! A salad brought out after the gritty one was sent back also had grit in it. My wife asked for full refund which was given without question. Lord knows what was going on in the kitchen but there was clearly no one who knew anything about food. I can happily send instructions about how to make a decent cheese sauce and wash salad.

Everything that could go wrong -did! We arrived and were greeted by our waiter telling us to wait while he was tapping at the computer. This went on for a few mins. He showed us to a table with very dirty condiments and wilting flowers. It was also next to very hot radiator. We asked to move near the window. It took 10-15 minutes at least to have order taken then further 5-10 mins to get drinks. After 45 mins I enquired where our starters were -waiter apologised that order hadn’t gone through system. About 15 mins later we got our order-my soup was luke warm and a skin had formed. I ate it as was v hungry. The main courses had to be sent back as they were lukewarm. When they returned the sauce was a different colour and my pork steak had reduced in size by about two thirds! Discovered that a member of staff had not turned up so the pot cleaner was acting as a waiter. This does not excuse very average food in mediocre surroundings. Not what is expected at a four star hotel. Probably the worst meal I have eaten at a restaurant for the past 5 years. Avoid .

At the Ramblewood. Been our usual Saturday night drinking venue for years but after a time of not being able to attend was very disappointed in the service. On arrival (on time )was told our table would be 5 mins. Absolutely fine we went to the bar and ordered drinks but 30 mins later had to go and ask what was happing with our table Explaining we has a diabetic with us who needed food. Was told would sort out. Got our table ordered our food and then waited …. …. 1 hour and 30 minutes after our table had been booked our Food finally arrived. Edible but not outstanding on either of our 4 plates. Restaurant managers feeble excuse about trouble in kitchens not good enough as no feedback to the waiting customers was provided to explain the wait What a disappointing evening in the food aspect. Won’t be back for food . 🥲 So disappointing as this used to be my normal “brilliant” Saturday night go to place for drinks and wanted to show this off to our friends 😞. Shame on you Ramblewood Inn

My partner and I ate here on Saturday night as we were staying at Orton Hall. A very unfortunate decision sadly. We ordered chicken wings to share followed by a Tempura lemon and basil cod for myself and a beefburger for my partner. After 40 minutes our starter hadn't arrived so I informed the waiter. A few minutes later our starter arrived with our mains. Not the point of a starter! Both our mains were £16.95. Which we wouldn't mind if the quality had been good but it was honestly the worst meal either of us have ever eaten. My partner's burger was a pathetic small grey patty with a bit of salad in a cheap bread roll. Accompanying this was a handful of frozen chips. No other garnish. I chose the cod which looked and tasted like something out of the freezer section of a cheap supermarket. The chips were so salty I couldn't eat them. I was also given a teaspoon of peas. Both our meals were terrible and if we hadn't been so hungry we wouldn't have eaten them at all. We politely gave our very pleasant waiter our feedback and he took the 'starter' off the bill. If you are thinking of visiting this pub, I would advise you to have a drink only and go somewhere else for a meal. It was quite shocking. It's not even a pleasant place to sit! It is very dated with cheap furniture and in the restaurant the lights were way too bright. The outside area is unkempt and really needs some tlc.

Came here with my wife for a Mother's Day dinner. The menu a locally printed sheet of A4 paper which was hastily retrieved by the staff. All very well but we should not have been given a used sheet of paper again when ordering dessert. Food stained, grubby, well thumbed and curling paper with the joy of being handled potentially by someone carrying Covid. Bit of a faux par there folks. On the whole, some of the food has improved however, we are still subjected to the ceiling fan downwash which in turn and yet again caused our food to go cold in less the 3 minutes.I suggest you either turn the darn things off or switch on reverse so it sends the air upwards thus deflecting the air flow against the ceiling. The seating yet again saw staff and customers wafting past within a disrespectful distance and this creates further air flow on our food. The food was fine. The cream cheese cigars were quite novel but the cheese was way too mild and very little flavour. The main started out as superb but then with the room being cold soon became unpleasant. Dessert choice was limited and poor and not really very appealing. All in all a rather decent start then ending up a disappointment yet again. You really have not taken into account criticisms over the years. Any wonder your rating has dropped. Well I won't be marking positively and doubt we will return.I was looking for a venue to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday plus wedding anniversary with our family and close friends, 30 plus in the party so well done Ramblewood, this booking will be going to a more deserving venue.

Have dined here many times before with dog in tow but we arrived at virtually empty restaurant for Sunday lunch but were advised that because of Covid our canine company meant we would only be able to dine outside, despite dubious weather. Ridiculous, Don't think Grezley the airedale has Covid though he has been barking a lot of late. Although it would have been nice to support an independent concer no way we we going to freeze. Realise times are difficult at the moment restaurant teams having to cope with Covid regulations but the impression they didn't really care about any loss of business and to be honest the menu hasn't been that great on the last couple of occasions. We were loo3king for somewhere nice to eat when my friend remembered going there. The surroundings are fantastic. The inside ok....not a favourite of dogs in eating area. I ordered spaghetti with meatballs and my friend had a lasagne and side salad. Its the first time in my life i have been in a restaurant and not been able to eat more than 2 mouthfuls of the meal I was served. The spaghetti was tasteless and was just mixed in with tinned tomatoes and the meatballs which should have bern on top of the spaghetti was hidden underneath and could understand why. They were dry and absolutely tasteless, was like eating cardboard. When it arrived it looked unappetising but thought I'd give it a try. It was the worse meal i had ever tasted and left it. I complained and it was taken off the bill. The hygiene of the staff serving behind the bar left a lot to be desired. I was asked if i wanted a dessert but declined after seeing bar staff wiping down tables and petting/treating patrons dogs with treats then returning behind the bar and not washing their hands so I declined. My friend ate their meal as they were hungry but it was lacking also. The lasagne was dry. It did not seem/appear like it was freshly cooked more like reheated frozen. I was sorely disappointed.

Took my friend there for a birthday meal. Big mistake. Had to ask for the dip accompaniment to my calamari. When I queried the total lack of bed of rocket I was informed “it’s only leaves” (really, not a commemorative model of Apollo 11 after all?) and the reason for it’s absence was that the kitchen didn’t have any! Having settled for the half rack of ribs as there was no fish for fish and chips, my friend discovered that underneath the glaze they were virtually raw and as such inedible. We abandoned them and left without complaining because my friend was so upset at her birthday meal being such a disaster and I felt there was little point having been already been looked at by our server like I was half cracked because I’d had the effrontery to expect the dish as described on the menu and paid for in advance. We won’t be back.

Chose to eat here as we could take our dog and the evening started well with a good gin menu and free dog biscuits, but the food was poor. Two of our party chose meals from the menu to be told they were not available, which is fine but we were told the fish pie was off because it was ‘terrible’. Judging by the standard of the food we did get it must have been pretty bad for anyone to have noticed. Prawn cocktails lacked taste so we had to ask for extra Marie Rose. Lincolnshire sausage was not Lincolnshire at all - curled like Cumberland and not a trace of sage. Mashed potato was like school dinners - lumpy and bland. Generally just all felt a bit sub-standard and the service was not great either. Waiter cleared our starters and brought our mains then left us with nothing to eat with, so we had to get up and fetch new cutlery ourselves. We won’t be back I’m afraid.

Then sat waiting for about 10 mins for someone to take plate away , another 10 for someone to ask if I required dessert menu. Really poor fudge cake - little taste and close to being stale. The staff seemed to spend more time laughing and joking with each other than servicing the small amount of tables - it seems the bar is the priority.

First of all can I give credit to the staff. They are great, friendly and I would give them 5 stars without hesitation. Sadly, the Ramblewood Inn itself is dreadful. The carpet is so filthy it’s shiny!! The food isn’t good. Halloumi and avocado salad with a tablespoon of brown mushy avocado (yes really!), beef stir fry with beef you can’t eat because it’s so chewy, strawberry sundae with no strawberries. In the end I ate cheesy chips just to eat something. I don’t normally eat chips but these were acceptable. We obviously mentioned this to the staff who did the best they could under the circumstances and it certainly wasn’t their fault. Stay the hotel by all means, it’s great. There was a long que at bar waiting to get served. Tables not clean. Food was below average. Pre made and microwaved. Overheard the couple behind me saying that their food was disgusting.

I visited the restaurant twice this month and on both occasions received a warm and friendly welcome. The fact that Charli remembered the wine we had ordered on our first visit was amazing. The visits were at different times of the day but the welcome and service was the same so this must be their normal standard. The atmosphere is very relaxing and is great for any occasion. Even though we live locally we had never visited but this will now be our restaurant of choice for any occasion. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu.

We are always greeted with a smile by all the friendly staff. The food is always lovely and tasty. They are very accommodating to people's likes and dislikes. There is a nice selection on the menu including vegetarian and vegan meals. Charlie did a great job serving us today and as always she did an equally excellent job in front of house as she does in the kitchen :).

Recently got married and we were looking for somewhere to host an intimate family lunch for after the ceremony and we chose here due to the location. From our initial contact with the pub Charli was fantastic making sure everything was covered from tablecloths to the colour of the napkins, meal choices etc.

First visit to the Ramblewood Inn. Booked a table for 1pm. When we arrived the restaurant was quite quiet, albeit several tables had reserved notices on them. We were worried with being quiet perhaps we had made a mistake. How wrong could we be. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. Two of us ordered from the main menu. I ordered the Sunday carvery. The waitress came to our table to inform us the mains were being plated up which gave me time to get served at the carvery so we could all eat together. The two in my party commented that the meals they ordered were extremely tasty. I had turkey as my meat with all the trimmings you could imagine which were ready to serve yourself. I can honestly say it was the best Sunday dinner I have had eating out for a long time, and excellent value for money. Thank you to the staff that served us today, and thank you to Ramblewood Inn. We definitely will be back.

We were staying in the hotel this pub is part of so obviously this location was convenient. We arrived late on our first night so decided to eat there. To summarise that was the only meal we took in that pub during our stay. When travelling with our dog we prefer to eat in pubs in order to be able to take her with us rather than leaving her in hotel rooms. The welcome and service were great, staff made a fuss of our dog offering her biscuits. They have a very impressive selection of gins available. Problems were the mac and cheese burger which was actually penne and cheese burger ( I would not have minded if this was mentioned when I ordered or even when it was served) the meat inside was dry, the sausages in the sausage and mash lacked taste and seasoning. As I said, only meal we took there.

We booked the Ramblewood for my Father in law’s wake and the staff couldn’t have done any more to help us. From the moment we walked in to enquire to the moment we left after the wake, all the staff were amazing. The food was fantastic and such good value. They worked so well with us on food allergies too. They even did us a special play list of background music. Would definitely recommend it as somewhere to go for a relaxed and perfect send off.

The best way to describe the Ramblewood Inn is fantastic. The staff were amazing and friendly the environment was welcoming. Booked my 40th last minute with Brittany and she was so helpful and so friendly and an absolute pleasure to talk to, went down the following day to finalise details and was greeted by charli who was amazing and so friendly. On the night of my birthday I was made to feel special by these two lovely ladies who went above and beyond their duties. I would highly recommend the ramblewood the whole team are fantastic and myself and family will now be regulars and have visited the ramblewood since my birthday and was recognised instantly by charli. Fantastic fantastic fantastic

We have visited with family a number of times and our experiences have varied. Today was very good and the service excellent. The new improved menu includes a range of vegan and vegetarian options.I was disappointed to find that the veggie burger had been removed recently but thanks for rustling one up for me. It was great but please reinstate it on the menu! On another note, we noticed the signs for being dog-friendly and thought we would bring our dogs next time but I read the review about people being turned away when they arrived with a dog and the dog-friendly tables had been reserved. You're either dog-friendly or you're not so this undermines our otherwise positive experience.

Great entertaining night at this pub in the grounds of The Orton Manor Hotel. Mason, the young waiter was charming. The crispy beef starter was tasty but the lamb shank was very tough and we gave up the fight. The dessert all had nut traces so my husband dodged his allergy by sampling from the extensive gin menu. We had to laugh as we saw tables being laid up by one server, with care and attention to immediately be cleared by another server as soon as the original turned his back! We had a great night. The staff never stopped working.

Drove here today as saw the Inn was dog friendly on all advertising. Arrived to find all the dog friendly tables were reserved for a wedding party that were not using them, the area had 2 people in it and about 8 empty tables. The restaurant section was empty but we were told we would have to sit outside to eat (it was 8 deg C and windy). Staff were totally inflexible and unfriendly, bordering on rude as there was lots of empty space in the pub if they could have been bothered to sort us a table out. The pub was an untidy mess and looked a bit like the morning after a student party so wasn't particularly inviting anyway. We went to the pub in nearby Holme and had an excellent lunch with our dog, sat in the warm.

Liked the venue was very quirky love the telephone box room, service was ok but he seemed rushed. Food choices were good but I ordered the fish and chips and although the portion size was huge the quality lacked to be honest the fish was chewy as though been frozen and not defrosted properly or refrozen just not in flakes as fish should be. The choice was either mushy or garden peas was never asked so arrived with garden.

I have visited here on a couple of occasions, most recently with 40+ colleagues. I am so pleased we chose this venue for our quiz night. Andy and Charli (Managers) made sure that we were well looked after and could not have made more effort to make sure that everything went smoothly on the night. Hats off to the chef for the lovely curries, jacket potatoes, rice and naans; all fresh, hot and everyone was complimentary. Nothing was too much trouble. I have also eaten off the main and snack menu and cannot fault it. Great venue (lovely on the patio in the Summer), friendly and courteous staff, accommodating and good chef; what more can a customer wish for. Many thanks to all. See you again soon.

Set menu for mothers day. Prawn cocktail was disappointing once eaten there was an inch of water in the bowl. I complained to the manager who apologised and walked off! Clearly the prawns were frozen and although defrosted; not drained well, if at all and were tasteless. Lamb was incredibly fatty and chewy. Hardly any veg in the bain marie and what was left was dried up and cold, not appealing at all. Roast potatoes were also cold and not at all crispy and awful and gravy was thin and watery. Apple crumble looked like it had been chucked on the plate with the smallest jug of custard. The restaurant is open until 4 so there should plenty of decent food available until then, at least! For £19.95 I would have expected much better. Not sure I would recommend this place at all. Either chef was having a bad day or didn't turn up for work at all.

We visited on Sunday afternoon and were greeted and cared for by the fantastic Mason who was very cheery and helpful, the carvery was gorgeous and when we asked if there was any gin we were told there were over 30 flavors! My only issues were that there were a lot of children in the restaurant making it rather loud but that's just luck of the draw, will be here again!

Food is not very good and not cheap. Atmosphere is not welcoming with locals who seem to frequent every night with one fella who seems not to be happy unless he is the loudest person in the bar. Some people might want to here his silly stories, but I certainly don't when I am 30ft away! I don't feel the beer is well kept and never really feel welcome. Such a shame as is a lovely building and could be really nice.

This pub has come a long way. It's a traditional pub which does some food but it is not the modern-day theme pub that is ‘dressed up to the nines’ and tries to be everything to everyone. A good selection of beers at reasonable prices and personable staff all helps. The atmosphere is positive and traditional and the two lads who run the pub work hard to keep it clean. The downside is not being able to take your dog into the pub now the autumn has arrived and the chain has stopped selling peanuts, a good seller I understand. Keep up the good work.

Four of us ate here in the restaurant. Starters wild mushrooms in cream/garlic on bread. Mains - gammon, braised beef, pork belly and fish and chips. Desserts apple and rhubarb crumble. The service was excellent and food hot and tasty. Excellent portions and well priced. Only one suggestion- the crumble top needed cooking/browning more. it was pale and tasted floury. Also be nice to have some background music as only a couple of tables occupied.

The surroundings are lovely, the food was fresh, hot and tasty, albeit the selection was small as was the portion. Nice environment for a special occasion or meeting friends in the area. We walked through the grounds and had lunch at 2:30pm.
