Decent food, nice coffee and ambience. Very pleasant, obliging staff. Humans as well as dogs catered for.

It was somewhat pricey for a pint, but it was a very good one. The ambience was not as cosy as it could be.

As always a very warm welcome. We had a Sunday roast and it was so tasty the potatoes were crispy too, something you don’t get with a Sunday roast in a restaurant. Our waitress Hannah was very friendly nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely go back for another Sunday roast.

Christmas Day lunch for 3 was excellent. Good portions, good quality food, attentive service and a nice atmosphere.

We booked 3 months ago for the festive menu for 8 people. The food was extremely disappointing, the service was efficient at the start, although for a Saturday evening the restaurant was not particularly busy, the service became so slow we went to the bar at one point to order drinks. The wild garlic prawns were served with a breakfast crumpet? The fish dish didn't taste right, the fish tasted strong and the texture was mushy. The majority of the meals were served lukewarm at best. It really felt like a waste of £470.

Absolutely terrible experience at The Boathouse. Pre booked a table and the festive menu online. Turned up at the resturant and the only table available for me and my partner was one shoved in the corner somewhere right next to 6-8 drunk loud men. Not really ideal for date night. We then asked if we could move and were placed in the bar area as they only had one two seater- table available in the resturant (?) . Things then got worse as we were told we couldn't have the festive menu (at that point, because we had been moved to the bar area) which was the whole point of travelling so far in (1 hours drive) I was told by the service team, that the festive menu was for pre-bookings only and that i needed to pay a deposit. I explained that I had booked through the website and even demo'd infront of the man the booking process and that at no point the website asked me to pay a deposit. The man looked very confused that the website allowed me to book a festive menu, but not ask for a deposit. He made no real attempt to rectify the situation, instead telling us he could ask the resturant, but we would be waiting an hour and a half for food and it would be a limited menu (??) . Had no choice in the end but to pack up and go eat somewhere else, which was also stressful trying to book a last minute festive menu on a Friday night. Won't be back for a very long time.

Hannah and Jess took very good care of me and my family for my birthday meal. They checked we were happy with our meals and were extremely professional in their service! Definitely coming here again!

Emily has provided us amazing service during our annual family get together and the food has been nothing but amazing quality. Thank you Emily for making our visit extra special.

Came here on previous recommendations and it hasn't disappointed! Friendly and attentive with delicious pub food which was value for money.

We had a meal and drinks here the other evening which was OK. On leaving around 8.30 I popped into the toilets and my wife waited just outside the door. In a few seconds she was approached by a group of men making sexist comments , I believe that they were from the hotel next door. We are no spring chickens so younger ladies please take care as the area is no longer safe around the rowing lake. Please Get a friend to escort you to your car.

Not great... Small family gathering (just three of us) booked for lunch for 1pm 12/12/24. We arrived nice and early, were seated and ordered drinks. Lovely waitress served the drinks and took our order. Ordered two Garden Plot Medley's and a Steak and Ale Pie. The waitress enquired if we were having the Garden Plot Medley's for starters or mains (they do both), we ordered as main courses and sat back to wait. We waited, waited some more, and waited again! Meanwhile, other tables who had arrived long after us had ordered, eaten and finished their meals... Eventually, after just over an hour, my husband was about to go to the bar to enquire when the waitress, noticing that our table was still empty, came over to say that she would go to the kitchen to enquire how long the meal would be. She came back shortly and apologised that it would be another five minutes wait. Obviously they had forgotten our meal altogether... When it finally did arrive we were utterly disappointed. Both Garden Plot Medleys were tiny! Hardly filled a quarter of the plate... Surely we must have been given the starters portions instead of the mains portions? It honestly took around three-four minutes to finish it was that small (about three large spoonfulls in total). The Steak and Ale Pie was a good size, however the pastry was incredibly overdone, blakened, burnt and hard and the veg portion was laughable, two halves of a very small carrot, half a stem of Broccoli (which was underdone and hard) and the tiniest spoonfull of mash potato that wouldn't feed a baby... That was it! Why skimp on the cheapest ingredients of a meal? We all left hungry and disappointed... We will not be returning.

Had the most amazing Sunday roast beef which melted in your mouth and cooked to perfection by Michael the chef. I will certainly be returning with my family.

It's the first time for my husband and I the staff are great can't do enough for you, we went for a 5pm sitting and it was quite the food was amazing would recommend this place.

We had dinner in this place and the atmosphere was nice and quiet. The food was good with a big portion. The only bad thing was the waitress forgot (I suppose) to bring us the dessert, after 20 min we asked if it was coming or not and she said to wait a couple of extra minutes (I mean it’s a dessert not a main course) so we just decided to leave. In the end She said “I’m sorry I will cancel the dessert from your bill” … of course 😅 . Anyway a part from that everything was okay.

We were very pleased with our meal and drinks. We really enjoyed the steak and ale pie and chips. The service was very good, drinks fine, atmosphere was good too.

We were not greeted on arrival. Although we booked a table once I told the waiter he just showed us to any table. Therefore, what was the point of reserving a table. They didn't come to take the order we had to go ask. Long wait for food and drink. They never came to see if everything was okay and neither did they come to ask if we would like dessert or another drink. All in all very poor service.

Had a great Sunday lunch here. Really nice setting by the water, good decor and atmosphere, great service and food and very reasonable cost.

It’s been a long time since the last time I had this amazing customer service anywhere! (They definitely went beyond, rare finding in the UK these days) I think the staff member serving us was called Mark, huge thank you! Food was good, but… VERY oily chips and onion rings (Mr chef was maybe in a rush to get them out to the table) the only let down really) apart from that, everything else was delicious, steak, desert, the lot. I will recommend to friends and family 😊

Food has improved a lot based on our one recent visit, new chef perhaps? After 10 years of dodgy food this is a welcome change. The kids portions are no longer suitable only for babies, food was all tasty and fresh. Great job and please don’t let it slip! The only odd thing was the handing out and promotion of the festive menu, then when the waitress came to take our order I ordered two items from the festive menu only to be told “oh nothing on that menu is available yet”. Bizarre!

Very welcoming, food was absolutely perfect and the waiting staff are very friendly and helpful, really nothing more you could ask for. Mark was our main waiter however his colleagues also were extremely helpful and friendly. Compliments to the chef aswell for the outstanding menu and delivery of food!

Went to the Boathouse for my Birthday on 13th Nov 24. Myself and my partner had the pork belly slice main and within a few hours of eating it, it was evident that we had terrible food poisoning. Fast forward 2 days and we are still recovering. Attempted to ring the restaurant to be told that a manager would call us back but had no response since. Safe to say we are completely put off ever going again. Service in the evening was fine but 1 star for how they have dealt with the situation.

Always a good place to eat , roast dinner was delicious. Busy , however, service and food were very good 👍

We had our engagement party at the boathouse - the staff were very accommodating and serviced all our needs. The food was delicious and plentiful, and they gave us an area just for us. They made a massive effort to make sure our party was special!!

We came in for a relaxing family meal for our daughters 7th birthday, 2 adults, 3 kids and a puppy. Atmosphere was calm cosy and inviting, they had dog food bowls , water bowls and treats, very welcoming vibe. Tasha one of our waitress' was fab with the kids recognising the characters on 1 of our daughters tops making her feel noticed, our birthday girl was given a lovely card from the staff which wad really sweet, the young male seated us, took our mains order and drinks was friendly funny and helpful but I didn't ask his name. Well done to the team, it made our hectic family meal much more stress free. And food was fantastic and good price as we were all stuffed. Really recommend 👌

We booked a breakfast table for a party of 5 and were looked after by Tasha who was exceptionally polite and efficient, despite being the only member of staff serving guests. We haven't visited since recent refurbishments and found the overall atmosphere really pleasant. The food was good, although half a slice of toast with the plant-based breakfast seemed a bit stingy and a couple of the dishes weren't very warm, but overall, it tasted and looked good , we enjoyed it and would try again..

Victor and Fabian were great and attentive. Food was great and all 6 of us had a fabulous evening. The only thing I would say when you ask on the website at time of booking is there a special occasion and the answer is yes this should be acknowledged or not ask the question. Great evening thank you.

Well... it's rare I give reviews, but this was so good, I felt I have to. Got greeted by Hannah, our server, as soon as we walked in and guided to a nice table in the corner by a window overlooking the beautifully lit outside deck area. Hannah was professional, but warm and amiable and every interaction was appreciated, even when she felt she had to ask my partner for age identification, it was done with politeness and no hint of rudeness or embarrassment. Michael and Norton, although we didn't see them as they were slaving away in the kitchen, provided us with some of the best food either of us have ever eaten. I cannot recommend enough how you should try this place. We will definitely return. Prices were as expected for the quality of the food and service. Around £30 a head, but worth every penny.

A pleasant pub with a warm ambience and a decent Sunday roast. Rather busy when we visited, mid afternoon on a sunny autumn Sunday so service was a little slow.

Friendly restaurant and staff. Fast service and didn't have to wait long at all for food at all. The seasonal menu is phenomenal. Some of the best food I have had. The pork belly bites melt in your mouth and are complimented perfectly with a tangy pickle. The other highlight was the creme burlee French toast. Hands down the best dessert I have ever had.

Food is a little average but nothing to complain about. Just your classic slap up pub grub. However the setting is nice and the staff are lovely.. Hannah was so warm and friendly whilst looking after us. Would happily come back !

Firstly this review in no way a criticism of the young lady who served us . She was very attentive and apologetic My wife and I arrived at the newly refurbished Boathouse and , as we usually do , had already decided on what we would have. However, once we got the ‘Specials’ menu we saw the Toad in the Hole ‘ Cumberland sausages in a Traditonal yorkshire pudding with Bubble and Squeak mash and Red wine gravy ‘ we both decided on that . Once it arrived we were somewhat shocked at how small the skillet pan the yorkshire pudding came in . However, the real issue was not only was the Yorkshire undercooked it was welded to the pan and had barely risen ! There was pratically nothing to eat . The 3 sausages were good as was the gravy but the fist sized bubble and squeak wasn’t bubble and squeak as I know it- just mash with leek and cabbage ( very small amount ) in it. We did complain but were offered free drinks which we didnt want. The cost of this meal was £17.49 each . Not good at all and we wont return . We have had issues before at the Boathouse with very slow service ( once waiting an hour + for desert ) but the food has always been good. Unfortunately, not anymore ****So i was contacted by the owner after posting my review asking me to email him so ‘he could better understand what went wrong’ This I did and had an email back apologising and offering us a ‘Meal on the house’ . Which I thought was a generous offer and we gladly accepted. I emailed back with a suitable date and waited and waited and waited . Nothing - so i emailed again and again no reply. So i emailed again and still nothing . I honestly do not know what to say . I dont want a free meal now only a refund of my £35 meal will do.

I attended an engagement party . An area was set aside in the building where food was laid out but there was also access to the outdoor seating area.

Mollie was a wonderful waitress that really cares about the customers you have in the restaurant/bar , she was very warm and friendly and super helpful . First class service. Food was awesome I had a lovely meal and will return when I stay in Peterborough again. Sticky toffee pudding was fantastic.

What a dreadful place, empty, cold and uninviting. Staff just couldn't care less. Sat a while and decided to leave never to return.

The manager is wonderful here, very polite and efficient. The food is delicious and well presented, and the garden overlooking the lake is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend this place.... also its 2 for £20 😜

Lovely location for a restaurant and beautiful layout and decoration. The food was delicious but very standard menu with British classics. We had a starter of pork belly bites between us, and for mains we had the toad in the hole, fish and chips, and pan fried sea bass. All lovely meals however I must say the Yorkshire pudding was lacking in the toad in the hole. The bartenders were nice but could definitely do with expanding their knowledge of pairings, as I asked for a recommendation of gin and tonic and they weren’t incredibly helpful. Otherwise a lovely evening out for dinner

Staff were great but cannot say the same about the food portions or quality. Meat was probably the nicest, juiciest and most tender meat I've eaten, vegetable portions were very poor - example - 1 'piece of Parsnip, soggy brocoli, mash wasn't fantastic and the yorkie was soggy; there was no more veg apart from a bit of cabbage and swede. Stingy with the stuffing and practically had a fight with the stuffing as it was like a rubber ball. Ordered a coke each and the glasses were filthy, I couldn't even wipe the filth off them with a napkin as it just rubbed the dirt around!

Had a lunchtime meal with my family here today, had the signature burger and a rosè to go with it, amazing food, amazing and very fast service and lovely atmosphere for a restaurant. Molly, Fab and Hannah all served us at different points, and they were all lovely and keen to serve us. Will definitely be back!

Popped in for lunch late afternoon today, we were greeted by Hannah who was lovely and served us drinks, we came inside and sat to order food, Fabian came to our table with a smile and politely took our order and promptly returned with our drinks, swiftly followed by our food which was cooked to perfection by Nick, Mike and Norton. Will be returning 😁

Long wait at bar initially. Didn't know which wines sweet or dry. Food quite good. Steak not as ordered though. Given wrong wine at table. Hot chocolate wasn't hot, had to be replaced, taken off bill. When it was time to leave was told to do so in a very rude manner (as were a large party of people) even though we had spent £240. Great refurb but staff are 'can't be arsed'. Such a shame

A very welcoming atmosphere, driven by the wonderful energy of the staff. Big shout-out to Molly, Tash and Dan who provided a lot more than smiles but recommendations of beverages and their hearty, soul filling meals. 5 stars all round however one less due the the portion size (but I eat for a small family), so if you're a normal person, this will satisfy on all levels! Loved it and will be returning again in future.

STAY AWAY unless you want to pay £60 for parking. Complete scam. Carefully placed signs and tablet not visible at the bar to key in registration, means the first you'll know os when the £60 demand drops on the doormat. Even blue badge holders!

Really great spot! We loved the live music and atmosphere. Especially liked that our server Arvindar remembered us, great place to make you feel at home when traveling. The food was also top notch!

Lovely place. Although the website says dog friendly, it didn't seem to specify if there was a specific part that dogs could be in. We had booked a table for food and when we arrived were told that dogs were only allowed at the bar. Our booking was essentially useless then as we just had to wait for a free table in the bar area to become available. We had tried calling the pub earlier on to double check where we could sit with the dogs but could not get through to a person. Luckily it didn't taint our experience, people were lovely and gave us water for the dogs and the food was very food!

Food was good but I feel there wasn't enough food on my plate for the price I paid Service was as you would expect it to be Nice pub and decor Parking isn't amazing but there was other var parks adjecent to the pub .

We came for a results day treat, everything was great as always, Danny served us, we had a meal missing but was resolved quickly, service and food great
