We came here last night for my 18th birthday meal, as my parents have been before and knew I would love the food here. We had 4 sirloin steaks and they were cooked beautifully, the onion rings were delicious however I think we needed a few more on our plate because they were lovely! We also had the brownies and they were mouthwatering and I’d highly recommend. The service we received from the lady with brown hair and glasses (sorry I didn’t catch a name) was lovely and brought me my brownie out with a candle in it and helped make my birthday one to remember. Thank you for being so kind and generous! We will definitely be returning.

Had our wedding reception in the woodman Last night. What a experience, we was treated like royals, food was great service was great. Carol was very good at keeping everything running smoothly. If your looking for small wedding venue made stress free then woodman is the place to go

La comida cuando llegó era horrible yo había elegido el bacalao y patatas fritas y las patatas estaban secas y duras y teniendo en cuenta el precio de £ 14 era muy molesto. Me parece que dondequiera que voy en Peterborough a comer el estándar de la comida es más que aceptable

Ive never been near this place .I'm sure if's great but what's it doing on my phone?

Staying at the Holiday Inn down the road this was the only place we could walk to for dinner. Had a couple of drinks first and the bar staff were very friendly even though clearly very busy with only one person behind the bar. Then the food arrived. It was appalling and I don’t mean that in an exaggerated way. I don’t know if I’ve ever had worse chicken fingers but the ratio of coating to chicken was 90-10 in favour of the coating. My wife’s flat bread was overcooked chicken with a few other ingredients, it tasted awful apparently. It’s a shame the food was so bad when the staff were so nice … sacking the ‘chef’ would be a good start.

Waited around half hour for food which is madness in my opinion and when it arrived they got one order completely wrong for one of the kids so had to wait for that. Not a very place for food at all

Popped in for breakfast on our way out. Lewis really turned out lovely breakfast. Everything on the plate was hot, not just lukewarm, even the mushrooms which so often at other places are tinned and warmed up in water, not Lewis, ours had been properly cooked in a pan. It is great to be reaching the end of a breakfast and everything on the plate has stayed hot or warm to the very end. 😊😊 Well done Lewis and thank you.

Held our wedding reception here yesterday and Carol & staff were absolutely amazing! The night before we were allowed to come in to decorate and the day of they arranged a dj/disco. The buffet was amazing and the staff were always happy to help. It couldn’t have gone any better - thank you! And the next morning they took down all the decorations for us ready to pick up. The team went over and beyond to accommodate us! Very happy

Excelente comida todo cocinado por Pat top chef en nuestros ojos tal vez añadir salsa chipotle al pollo de sal y pimienta para darle una 'patada'.

We are visiting friends so they brought us down to this pub, for a meal and a quiz night. There were 6 of us and we all ate meals and puds. Have to say the food cooked by the chef Pat, was well cooked and really tasty. Puddings were lovely and then we all finished off with tea and coffee. The landlady Carol then presented a quiz night that was so much fun. All in all a fab afternoon and evening, and cant wait to come back again 😍

I visited today for Sunday lunch, nothing was too much trouble for the lovely landlady Carol, the food cooked by James was the best lunch I've had in Peterborough for a long time, well done James, keep up the good work Carol.

James, The chef, food was brilliant food was tasty hot not many times my family can say that, with other restaurants we visited. staff, was polite kind & helpful, we would recommend Woodman to anyone. 👍

First time visit for this pub and was very pleased with the atmosphere and service. The food was reasonably priced and good quality, have to shout out to the chef James. Will definitely be visiting again in the near future.

Have visited The Woodman on many an occasion, including lunch and evening food and also just drinks. The food is of a very good standard and portions are generous and well presented with a range of smaller, lighter dishes to full roast dinners (or tea and cake if you fancy) The staff are all friendly and helpful and this is reflected by the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Incidentally.......I highly recommend the Karaoke nights..... Well managed, fully inclusive entertainment whether you're a Diva or not!

Así que fuimos al leñador por una noche de karaoke sentado 15th, , abs fantástico ambiente, , Las dos camareras podrian serme de ayuda n la casera / manager acaba de llegar al primer lugar del sorteo, , elijo lasaña n ensalada para la cena seguido de 3 cucharadas de helado ov con salsa Choc abs cielo, luego una canción de Brill cantar para terminar la noche . . Reasonable prices once 2 for 1 offer applied. One small complaint dealt with without fuss. And good beer. Staff pleasant. Beer prices a bit on the expensive side.

Lovely coffee and cake. Maisie was really helpful behind the bar suggesting the coffee and cake deal and getting water for the dog!

Love the cosy setting in the conservatory overlooking the golf course. Food is always lovely and hot, served quickly, friendly staff, always checking all is okay during our visit.

Sunday nights are Brill for a good pub quiz... The Ice-cream is a must, 3 good scoops , Clotted cream 🍨 wi lemon sorbet, covered in a Choc sauce is my go Too.. excellent service by friendly staff n a lovely Manager. Top Draw. 💯👍

Menu clearly states beef served pink , reality over cooked but good for soles of shoes,vegetables clearly microwaved very undercooked, Yorkshire puddings very nice as was the potatoes overall a poor experience for the money charged (shame on you greene king )

Very nice, but people need to book to make sure they hv places available.

Probably the worst of all the Greene king pubs we have been to.The beef for both of us was tough and grisly,broccoli & cauliflower hardish,only thing really cooked was carrots and god forbid peas that shouldn't be on a Sunday dinner, even potatoes were rough not what you expect when you go out I'll give it a miss in future.

Came here for the team dinner. Service was impeccable with a good menu and selection of drinks. Very reasonably priced.

The very worst sunday meal we’ve ever had …. We were a party of 6 … Booked a 4pm slot for sunday lunch …. No beef 😡 kids wanted mac and cheese none of that either 😡 everything about the meal was bad …. Sloppy frozen vegetables that were lukewarm and the turkey (cos they had no beef) was so overcooked it was almost mush ….. then don’t pay i hear you say …….. payment is done when placing the order 😡

I held my Fathers wake here and could Not have asked for more, food was excellent and everything was taken care of.

Had our small Golf society Christmas dinner at the pub. Food was very good with generous servings. Staff very efficient and friendly with food and drinks served promptly. Will definitely consider returning for next years event.

I reserved a table in advanced for 8 people gave us two tables of 4 chairs not the round table in the corner and got complaints about moving two tables when been told differently by two members of staff first time going there and very disappointed , we would have put them back and in the end we left to another place with better seating arrangements ( they need to clean the floor had dog food on the floor) but would have been a nice time but should have been more seating arrangements for large amount of people

Great place for functions. They put on a great spread. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Carol dealt with all our requests professionally and made us feel welcome.

Love the woodman but disappointed I can never have a hot drink as they don’t have non dairy milk. I was offered semi-skimmed! Not great if you’re lactose intolerant.

Called in here on Friday 4th October. Have just read some bad reviews regarding food but, as we only called in for a drink and bowl of chips, cannot comment. The Chips were good. Loved the pub and its location. First time we have been. We stay in our motorhome at Ferry Meadows and normally bike to The Boathouse but the area was flooded. One of the wardens recommended The Woodman and so accessible from the park. Will definitely visit again. Sat in conservatory overlooking golf course. Nice outdoor seating area when weather good. Also, dog friendly.

Had a wonderful evening at the Woodman with 23 of my family to celebrate my birthday Food was served all together and was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were very friendly. An ideal venue that we have used previously and would certainly book again. Thankyou

I do alot of walking and I came across this pub lucky me they had a deal on a pint Carlsberg £2 was feeling hungry decided to have hunters chicken 11.99 or 2 for 15.49 what a great deal plus the best thing it tasted great.

Not bad value and convenient location for the golf course. They do tend to underfill drinks especially when ice isn’t added.

Cosy, welcoming venue. Had a meal with family and friends here. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything was arranged for a large group efficiently and communication was seamless. Food served in a timely fashion, everyone enjoyed their food. Veggie and gluten free menus too. Excellent choice of drinks. Dog friendly and child friendly location. Children's play area to keep the little ones busy and colouring sheets/crayons too. All against the lovely backdrop of the golf course. Thank you Carol and Team.

Noisey, poor quality and little or no interaction with staff. My Pie was hard and the veg was luke warm my wife's Lasanga was tasteless, my firnes meals were less than the best. Unfortunatley we were the when a football match was on in the bar area which was fairly busy so overall the antmosphere was of a pub and not a resturante.

Terrible customer service! Avoid!

We are footie fans so the Woodman is our local when we play Peterborough, wouldn't go anywhere else! We look forward to visiting and it's out local away from home. The food is amazing and service is so fast. The staff are lovely and the view over the golf course is beautiful. Visited yesterday and roll on our next visit.

On Tuesday 17th Sept 2024 the Woodman, Carol organised what seems to be an annual fund raising day for macmillan cancer. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Carol and her team for all the hard work they do/did to make the event a total success, the weather couldn't have been any better for golf .we where welcomed with a smile,bacon sandwich and a nice goody bag with water for our round of golf .most of all I believe there was something like £1300.00 plus which I think on behalf of Carol,staff and the Woodman was a great achievement. Thankyou Carol for all your hard work and I hope this annual day will continue to raise money for a wonderful deserved charity

We went last night and it was a terrible service. We ordered chicken shawarma and beef burgers as our mains. The food came in 5 mns. It was horrible. I had returned my dishes back and asked for hunter's chicken. The burger was below average. My food never came back even after waiting for 40 mns. The service is absolutely terrible. I guess the place is now mostly catered to drinks and nibbles. Very dissatisfied.

Lovely meal Sunday evening. And enjoyed listening to the quiz, and will participate next time! The service is always great.

Staff and managers customer experience skills are second to none.

My wife and I went in to the Woodman for lunch. It was very pleasant to sit in the conservatory overlooking the golf course. The menu was as extensive as any other chain pub and our food was delivered to our table in good time by a cheerful lady who ensured we had evrything we wanted. The food was hot and tasty and you cant ask better than that. We were there at lunch time and the place had a good atmosphere going with two or three families a few golfers and others just enjoying a drink. The garden on the edge of the golf course would be a perfect place to sit and I saw that they will deliver food too your table outside. All in all a lovely visit with great service, lovely staff and food.

The food could have been better, but the service and the pub itself were very good.

The food is very reasonable price. Two mains for £15 is excellent. Quality is ok. Service was very fast. Staff friendly and came to check food was ok. I think it is reasonable to say that the pub is overdue for a refurb though. The menu was filthy sticky and covered in food residue which was off putting maybe just the one on our table? But maybe something that could be checked from time to time? Some of the chairs are grubby the floor still has Caution tape covering a trip hazard that has been there some time now. So come on Greene King spend a few quid tidy the place up a bit. Give your hard working staff a nicer place to work they deserve it.

Food was quick and reasonably priced. We got there just after 12 and nearly every table was reserved. The one we did sit at was sticky and gritty, the whole place could benefit from a deep clean.

Came with a couple friends for something to eat and a drink. When we arrived we went to the bar and was served by a female bartender who was really rude. She was really short with my friend and everything seemed an effort. When I asked for an ice cube in my wine she said ‘you could have told me beforehand to make things a bit easier for me’, which is appalling. We were then essentially told no when we asked for napkins because they were busy with an event on in a function room. The food, albeit pub food, was shocking. Everything came out lukewarm and we had to send a couple things back. Menus and tables sticky. This pub has really deteriorated. Event on or not, I don’t feel like the other users of the pub should be effected, should plan and have more staff off and friendlier staff too. Won’t be going back.

We decided to have a meal out as it was our wedding anniversary and it was a nice day,we did not book, butt was pleasantly surprised that a table was available near the French doors onto the patio. we ordered our food at the bar and the waitress was looking after my wife as she just had a knee operation.the food was lovely and we did not have to wait long for it.

Came in for a family meal, I had the buttermilk chicken burger and it was excellent! Service was great & the staff were lovely

After a long drive from Eastbourne, my wife and I booked into a nearby hotel and (after checking the Woodman's website that that food was 'served until 9pm'), we walked to the pub, arriving there at 20.43. The server behind the bar was busy putting cakes away, and served me at 20.47. I asked for two drinks and a Nacho sharer. She replied that the kitychen was closed. I explained that the website said 2100 hrs but she responded that 'last orders are called at 20.45', i.e. just before I arrived. I saidthat I was not happy because that was not what it said on teh wensite. I explaiend that we had had a long drive and just wanted a light bite and a couple of drinks. However she got teh chef who told me the same thing. I then said that I was disgusted and would take my momney elsewhere. We then left. Due to the way I was treated, my party the next day was 5 people and I had booked a table for lunch. We did not turn up and we wont be going back.

Massively disappointed with the whole experience after a recent visit to the Woodman. A table reserved for a meal for 2, the first issue started with trying to order a meal. My wife wanted to order a starter but five out of six options were not available. She settled for a burger. I fancied the fish and chips but was told it was not available. I ordered steak and chips instead with a sauce. I went to order a round of drinks but it took a long time to get served. I eventually did get served and retuned to my table to find my meal was waiting for me. The steak though was only luke warm and half of the meal was missing. I was informed by my wife that the sauce, onion rings and some chips were lying on the floor nearby. The waiter said she would return soon but forgot. When they eventually arrived the sauce was cold and the onion rings were burned. My wife’s chips were also luke warm with only a handful of chips. I then tried to visit the Gents Toilet to be told that it was closed. We will not be visiting this establishment the next time we visit which is a shame as a meals at a Green King restaurant in Cambridge are always excellent with excellent service.

Every time we visit here (weekday) they've got some aspect of our order wrong. Often forgetting the vegetarian meal altogether or confusing it with a meat option. It's a great location. So it's disappointing that so frequently we have had issues here.

Went for lunchtime drink and snack. Shared bowl of Nachos, was enough for 2.

Food & service excellent. I would also like to say a big thankyou to the young girl who served us our meal, she went over & beyond the normal service as she could see that I had a bad knee.

This pub enjoys the benefits of being in a great ambience outside and in a good location. The food, service, etc were all good and we would certainly visit again.

Everytime we come to the Woodman, we are greeted with a warm and friendly smile. Nothing is too much trouble. Carol and Nathan are professional and friendly and go above and beyond for their customers.

Afrer 18 holes of golf.. we went for a beer.. The San Miguel was flat and then was poured into a bitter glass and topped up. Any bar person knows you don't put lager in a bitter glass..beer was still flat. There were no apologies. Very disappointed. It was busy but no excuse for the service we had

With reference to the review from Mr Arnott. On Sunday, the golf club had their biggest competition, The Open! Carol and her team at the woodman were tasked with serving 150 golfers throughout the day, which they did very professionally and what's more, they did with a smile on their face. There was not one complaint from anyone. I would recommend this place 100% if you want good honest grub and great service with a smile, this is the place to go.

Came here for what should have been a BBQ and ended up with sub standard food cooked in a kitchen This place has seen better days and the quality is worse than Wimpy

In response to the reply. 60% isn't a bad review. What you could do, is have a wider selection of beers. But I guess you're limited by GK? So nothing much you can do, no.

We booked here for my mums 60th a few weeks back it really was lovely the food was fantastic we opted for the buffet great portions lovely staff and lovely garden we all had a lovely time and will definitely be going back 😊

Absolutely shocking. Never have any decent meals available. Can apparently only have a mixed grill if you are having 2 because they can't order steak in the correct size and "can't cut raw meat during service times" Absolutely pointless going to this place unless you want gammon, or hunters chicken everything else is always sold out. Wouldn't waste my time in future which is disappointing as it's a lovely place.
