14 of us, plus a dog, had a fabulous Sunday roast. The food was delicious, plenty of it and served lovely and hot. The service was very good. The cafe was very busy but had a great atmosphere and not too noisy.

We went as a family for Mother’s Day. There were 5 in our party; including 2 small children. From the offset we were met by friendly staff and complimentary Prosecco. The food was delicious, and service exemplary. Tom was manager on the day and was really engaging with my children. We’d recommend this restaurant as somewhere lovely to go with family.

I fancied something to eat and was in the area so decided to visit Jordan's Mill. When I arrived I went to the place where it said to go to be seated and immediately a lady appeared and I said I just wanted a snack. She said I could go to the counter and order what I wanted. They had a wide variety of slices of cake and scones available to purchase as well as different drinks. I placed my order and went outside to sit and enjoy the view of the old mill and the surrounding countryside. It's a really nice place to go for a meal or a snack.

Had a lovely family lunch here today. Five of us all chose different things from the menu and everything was delicious and beautifully cooked, hot and nicely presented. We particularly liked the table service which is much better. The food arrived very quickly too and the staff were all very very friendly and attentive. All at reasonable prices too. Will definitely return.

Have been before and enjoyed the Mini Millers Breakfast £5.95 -- 4 items all good produce. However, beware now, that if you wish to change one of the items e.g. tomatoes for baked beans, there is a surcharge of £1.50 for each 'swapped' item. If you order the items individually it would cost you £6.25 and you would receive 2 hash browns instead of 1. This is cheaper than swapping an item which would cost £7.20! There is no mention of this extra charge on the menu. The Manager told us it was because he had lost 3 chefs over the fact that there was so many changes to orders, it was a problem in the kitchen. However, by charging an additional £1.50, this doesn't solve the problem for the chefs. Gluten Free is highlighted on Breakfast Menu but not on any of the other menus

Very strange set up - you order in one place then collect your food at another when it’s ready, that’s if you’re lucky enough to spot a table to actually sit at. Granted there’s not much they can do about how busy this place always seem to be! If you turn up at opening time you’ll have a good chance at getting a table, if not then forget it. (Weekends anyway) Unfortunately breakfast was very disappointing, it was just about warm enough to eat, beans especially were actually pretty much cold. Asked to reheat beans and they did this for us. Just clear it had all been sitting around for awhile and reheated per order that comes in. For price you’d expect better :(

We first visited this place a few years ago. I recall enjoying something a bit different. In particular, I recall a delicious salad. On occasions since, we noticed a dumbing down. There was nothing wrong with the food. It was just not so interesting. The last time we went we were so uninspired that we left without ordering. We also noticed all the comfy sofas were gone. I guess this was to fit in more tables. It was busy so I guess the changes have been successful from a business perspective. We won't be going again though.

I will go here again next time I am out for a walk and spend more time here walking round the gardens.

We had a drink in the cafe and there is plenty of seating inside and out, overlooking the River Ivel. We couldn't look round the watermill as it only opens Fridays and Saturdays but I would imag it is very interesting. The site is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Worth a visit. Location is very pleasant. There are plenty of tables and rather uncomfortable chairs. Unfortunately it was very slow to place our lunch orders but once ordered the food was quick in arriving. Both the vegetarian ploughmans, the non veg ones were not available, and the jacket potatoes were of good size and value. We could have been tempted by the cakes but £3.50 for a tiny piece of Victoria sponge and £2.75 for a 2” square of millionaires shortbread are extortionate prices.

It's a pretty spot, and would be ideal for a leisurely lunch if the offering weren't so basic. A couple of pasties, a sausage roll, and bacon/ sausage / fried egg(!) baps plus of course chips just about covers it. Everything fried, no salads, no green vegetables, no fruit, no wine, and an old tin at the till with TIPS scrawled on it. Are you thinking transport caff? I was. My sausage bap and chips weren't all that bad; but you had to find a table first so that when you queue up at the till, you can quote the table number when you place your order. All a bit school dinners / institutional, which is such a pity when the architecture and the setting are so good. How about some actual proper cooked food; a dish of the day, some nice salads, something with a bit of style? If the pub down to road can do it, surely Jordans Mill should be able to. A big lost opportunity. God knows what a foreign tourist would think; the place exemplifies all the popular tales about British catering, which we thought were out of date. They are not; go to Jordans Mill and see.

My 'hot sandwich' was served very cold and wasn't enjoyable, the homemade steak pasty my partner had didn't really have any steak in it, the cappuccino had a sour burned taste and all in all it was very overpriced. It's quite a basic cafe and we wouldn't return for food. Also quite surprised to see none of the kitchen staff wearing beard or hair nets

We were greeted by Jess, we asked for table for 2 near the window. Was told we couldn’t have it as it’s reserved for afternoon tea. We arrived at 10.20 so asked if we could please have it as afternoon tea customers wouldn’t be in for a few hours. The answer was No. Jess said “if we let you have the table, others will want it”I asked to speak to a manager. She walked off leaving us there.James the supervisor came over, said I need to speak to manager (who was in the kitchen). We waited over 10 mins, no one came over. When I asked Jess about it, she stomped off with a face like thunder after saying “I offered you a table over there but you didn’t want it.” Very rude, and poor customer service. We didn’t want to sit by the serving hatch with no view and it was dark. Finally a lovely lady came over,Rachel, who said it was absolutely fine to sit there, she dismantled the afternoon tea table, it took her 30 seconds. My friend and I were so disappointed with the poor customer service and rudeness from Jess, we were left feeling stressed for our stay. I wrote an email to complain. Then Gary (the chef) told me he needed to offer James more supervisor training and that he shouldn’t have said the manager would come see us. Gary is the manager and the chef. He says he would deal with Jess’s lack of customer service. By way of apology he offered to send a voucher. I didn’t receive anything and after a week wrote back to Gary. He said he gave the voucher to the postman and put a stamp on it. He said he would send another voucher out. This was 24 June. To this day (3+ weeks later) neither vouchers have ever arrived. I went past Jordan’s mill on 1st July to enquire and was told by Gary that he was “doing his best”. I still haven’t received the voucher …. The whole Jordan’s mill experience has put me off going back. I suspect Gary never sent the voucher first time round or the second time. I think I was being fobbed off. The whole set up at the mill appeared chaotic, staff shortages were blamed and it’s really gone downhill. The food wasn’t great either.,I wrote to mr Jordan at the mill and haven’t heard back from him either. Shocking ! We, my family and friends and overseas family will not be returning.

We have visited this cafe many times over several years and it has always been a joy with good food and great service. Our experience yesterday (Sat 26 June) was less favourable. We were greeted well and COVID precautions were in place; we were given the choice of a couple of tables on the terrace and menus were left with us. Thereafter customer service was not so good. You have to place your order at a till; the queue for which at 10.45 on Saturday was long; drinks and breakfast were delivered and the food was ok. When we returned to order more drinks, the queue took 30 minutes and there is only one till, one assistant taking order/one assistant making drinks. There were social distancing marks on the floor for the queue to follow but this really is a poor process. We also had (very late) lunch and inevitably the selection available had reduced. I hope the management can sort out the process and return to the once fabulous customer service.

Anytime I have visited here the coffee has been substandard. Either they need to retrain their staff, change their coffee blend or fix their machine. It is not helped by the fact that they don’t seem able to stock soya milk. On all occasions I am offered oat milk instead which is not suitable for use in coffee. They also don’t seem to understand the need to reduce contact indoors to reduce the risks of Covid transmission. There is no direct access to the decking so you have to walk through the restaurant part to access the outside. They have a two may access point to the decking which causes congestion and they do not limit the number of people queuing inside to order coffees. All in all they do not seem to have the health of their customers or employees at heart. I pointed this out to their general manager on my last visit. He clearly didn’t accept my feedback so I asked for contact details to raise my concerns with a third party to get their perspective. When I emailed the Jordans mill address, the general manager replied, repeating all the same things he’d said on the day and insulting me for good measure. I’ve used the contact form on the Jordans manufacturing site last week in the hope of getting a more objective response but haven’t heard back.

When the sun is shining and you can bag a table on the decked terrace, looking out over the water and the nearby mill, this place must be a real winner. In the depths of winter, you want to keep the doors firmly closed and sit inside, in what's a giant space that comes across as a bit of a barn with a canteen feel. There's a good selection of food from a variety of counters with a emphasis on local produce, but the canteen atmosphere didn't lend itself to a leisurely lunch so we opted for some drinks and light bites which proved perfectly acceptable. Not a place that would deserve a special visit just for the food, but if you're visiting the larger mill complex it's a very serviceable stop-off.

Well, I usually advocate ‘if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all’ . However, after a coffee and cake stop here, I always seem to feel really underwhelmed. The location is lovely. If you visit for something more than the cafe, they always have a trail of one sort or another in the grounds to entertain children, there is a little garden area for a wander and also a lovely shop, selling lots of goodies. There is of course also The Mill to visit if you would like to.We usually visit after a wander along the river as it is a handy place to stop. We did the same again today ever hopefully (as always) that they would have stepped up, but ..... The cake choice today was as always, a little on the predictable side, coffee and walnut, victoria sandwich etc., I love a toasted tea cake but have learned that their luxury tea cake is more akin to a ‘value’ type offering, small and lacking in plump fruit. They do offer a gluten free selection so that may be a plus for some. My coffee today was murky and tasted of absolutely nothing, it was vile. Unusually for me I took it back (I would usually just leave it), they did replace it without question, or apology. For me, a little more effort would make it a place of choice to visit rather than a place of convenience.I have never eaten in the restaurant so can’t comment on what is provided.

Last time we were here the service was shambolic, but we decided to give it another try after hearing that new management were in place. Unfortunately nothing has changed as far as the service goes. We were told to sit wherever we wanted and told to order at till. We chose a full cooked and a meat free breakfast. Not too much of a delay but when the waitress arrived with two plates she had no clue that one was supposed to be veggie - not helped by the fact that the chef had forgotten the bacon and sausages. I suspect it was her first day as she was shaking like a leaf - bless her, she should have been supported by someone experienced - I watched as she struggled with every dish she was serving. This was not confined to her though I saw each of the wait staff wandering around looking for the right table numbers - it was a bit of a farce. I'd hate to have seen what would happen when it is busy. The food was ok - but it should be amazing, for the money (£20 for 2 breakfasts and 2 teas) it should be MUCH better. There should be some consideration of provenance. My husband and I both agreed that it felt like a Wetherspoons - except the staff at Wetherspoons know what they are doing and seem well trained and organised - and of course it would be half the price. This place should be so much better than it is. We don't blame the staff, we blame the owners for not providing the right support, training and direction for their staff. My husband decided to have a coffee from the coffee bar - neither of the girls on duty appeared to either know or care about what they were doing. They are not using the coffee machine properly, when my husband pointed out that there were grinds leaking into the coffee (a big no-no) the girl was oblivious, so he suggested that the porta-filter needed to be cleaned of the build up of grinds. The server told him it was done at the end of every day. This is terrible - anyone who's had an ounce of proper training knows how important it is to do this after every couple of extractions. His flat white was awful - it looked more like an instant coffee. Again the "barista" did not know what she was doing - please provide your team with proper training.I noticed that the sandwiches served in the cafe are made by a company in Croydon. What the actual??? I saw at least 3 chefs in the kitchen - why on earth are they not doing them? On top of that, the toasties on display were made two days ago and had a best before today date. That's just embarrassing. Our table wasn't cleared until we left - so we had to site with dirty plates and tea cups and pots - it wasn't busy and there were plenty of staff on duty (talking) so no excuses.Jordans has such potential but constantly disappoints. Please put in a proper manager and incentivise them and the staff to care about what they are doing as that was our impression - nobody really cares about what they are doing and it really shows. It's such a shame. Please move away from serving the same dull, bland, lazy food and instead serve locally sourced great quality food and drink. You only need to have a good day out in London to get some inspiration as far as food and drinks go. If they put as much effort into the operation as they did the construction of the beautiful building you would totally clean up.

Good option by the till to help yourself to tap water, clean glasses too. I also grabbed a loyalty card (buy x drinks and get one free). The breakfast itself was lovely; hot, perfectly cooked poached eggs, not too runny or gooey. I asked for the sauce on side and was given a generous amount in a jug which was nice. The elderly assistant curtly commented “there are tongs” which my wife hadn’t seen, and was shocked by this comment. Our order was taken quite quickly and for the first time in my life the waiter (Michael) mentioned my severe nut allergy before I did (I'd noted it on the form when I booked but what a refreshing change). Our drinks arrived and food soon followed. We had both chosen roast pork, it came with all the trimmings and aside from cold cabbage the meal was hot, delicious and a great portion size. Extra apple sauce when requested arrived quickly and our waiter checked everything was ok. Clear dishes were cleared quickly without it feeling rushed. We opted to have dessert, Michael had done his homework and told me when he gave me the menu which dessert to avoid. We had lemon tart and spotted sick and custard which was sadly cold in the middle. We weren't rushed to pay or even leave once we had. All in all despite my expectations it was a lovely experience and well worth the money even if we'd paid full price.

My mother and I have finally had to decide we need to find somewhere else for our breakfast outings. Although a lovely setting the poor quality of service food (particularly the awful coffee), expensive prices, constant mistakes with billing and non caring attitude of staff have chased us away! Although I would just like to say that some of the younger student staff have been excellent. Seems a shame Jordan’s can’t get this right.

Good location overlooking the river. Very tranquil setting. Food good but a little overpriced I found. The little store inside is lovely to walk around and discover all the different products that are made here locally. There is an evening menu but as not tried yet I can not comment.

I went for the first time for lunch, although I live fairly close. The main lunch menu is fairly small, but there are several choices. Unfortunately they had run out of pie of the day, which we both chose, so we had a jacket with cheese & bubble & squeak. The food arrived very quickly. The jacket wasn't very hot although there was plenty of cheese & the salad accompaniment was unusual & good: the bubble & squeak came with an egg & bacon and although not very large, was apparently tasty. What a shame about the staff! The girl on the order & till was surly, didn't smile or acknowledge & the waiting staff were the same.

Came here with relatives; quite a good selection of lunches. We went for filled baked potato with salad; a chicken pie with mash & peas and (highlight) a meze sharing platter. The prices didnt seem to quite follow- the reasonable £6 for spud and £14.95 for mexe (ie £7.50 per person) seemed dwarfed by £12,95 for a very unexceptional pie & mash! Had cake for dessert (aunt wanted ice cream but that's only available in shop). Big modern building, attractively located with outdoor area alongside river, helpful staff, good day out.

The outdoor area (see photos) is pleasant, but frequented by wasps. The interior is large but about a third of it is taken up with high stools that look uncomfortable; the whole time we were there no-one sat at any of them. The venue is noisy because of the hard decorative surfaces, piped music, and a lot of shouting from the kitchen.

I am writing this review sat at table in cafe. I live. We live very close to here, it's a beautiful place bit don't visit very often as I feel it's not worth the prices charged, however my elderly Mother wanted to visit, what a shambles, it wasn't overly busy despite them having a coach in. I queued for 20 mins for cake and coffee despite only having 4 people in front of me. There was hardly any cake selection and what was there were very small pieces of cake certainly not worth the cost (£9.50 for one tiny slice of cake, a Danish pastry and a tea and coffee) We didn't sit outside as planned as all seats available were in full sun (not your fault!) So we Sat just inside, there was an overpowering smell of cleaning fluids which was awful, so all in all not a good experience. So even though you are very local you won't be getting my support or recommendations. 2 stars given because of location only.

We are reasonably regular visitors to buy cereals and have often had a very pleasant lunch here. The menu has been full of imaginative fresh seasonable food salads quiches etc artisan offerings of a type you may associate with a wholefood producer. We went Monday 23rd July and had lunch...what a disappointment! In hot summer weather there were none of the fresh salad dishes and instead individual pizzas, factory produced steak pies and pureed "mashed potato" dolloped on a plate with a few tinned peas. I can't remember if there was all day breakfast but I wouldn't have been surprised as the menu wouldn't have looked out of place in a transport café there was little in the way of fresh produce. My wife had a ploughman's being the nearest to a salad they could offer. It looked very tired with a small piece of sweaty processed cheddar and the crowning glory being a rough hewn slice of dry bread. We were so horrified we took the bread back and asked for a fresh slice as promised. It came equally as dry as toast and when we pointed this out the waitress picked it up prodded it with her finger and put it back on the plate with no word off apology and said that it was delivered that morning which she thought was adequate proof of it's freshness not its obvious dryness. My wife ate what she could leaving the bread which had been thoroughly prodded. As we left we noticed that there were lots of plates where people had left the bread so this wasn't an unusual experience. No word of apology from the manager, no offer of a refund which I now regret not having demanded. Additionally it wasn't cheap for lunch either. I can only assume the restaurant is being run by a new manager from previous. Whatever, whoever is running the place now should have their card marked because a previously excellent facility is being ruined fast.

On visiting today we were not surprised to find the cafe exceedingly busy due to the heatwave. However the queues were very long and not helped by the fact that the screens showing the daily specials are placed in ridiculous places and it is on a rolling frame so you have to wait for it to come back to the right place before you can finish reading the relevant information!! Bring back Mrs Jordan's blackboards!!! The venue is still very noisey and echo's badly. Whilst the spring vegetable risotto was very tasty it was only barely warm and very expensive for the quantity. The menu is also very scarce- where has the much loved scampi gone??? Such a shame but the prices are now too high to entice us back regularly.

Food was very tasty, English breakfast had a nice selection and tasted good, my Mum had the eggs benedict and also really enjoyed them. Plenty of car parking still available when we arrived, pretty good value too. Really enjoyed it - I've been told the cream teas are good too, so definitely worth a visit!

Three of us had lunch at The Riverside Cafe on Tuesday. It was fairly busy but we found a table in the middle of the hot food section. Two of us chose the scampi and one had the ham,egg and chips. The system of ordering is a bit confusing but our drinks order arrived quite promptly and the meals were not long after. All the dishes were of a very good size, but not particularly hot. However they were of good quality. What spoils the cafe is it is very echoey and everybody near were shouting to their tablemates! This did effect our leisurely lunch somewhat as we couldn't concentrate on our conversations. After lunch we went to look in the shop, this is now detached from the restaurant and is not very obviously signposted.
