Only stopped in for a post karting pint with mates, (didn't eat) nice pint of pride poured. Looked a nice place, food looked good.

It was a bad experience. Awful wine. Cold steaks, and the waitress asked if we want our steaks to be reheated! It's a shame because since we moved in the area we were looking forward to this experience and for this to be the "go to" pub

Dreadful. Service was awful very bad attitude and food was not good either. Served a drink with broken glass and cocktail had to go back as had chemical taste. It’s a shame as when opened it was great but has gone down hill. The paella was very poor for the money and should be a starter. My steak was order well done but it was rare!!! The blond girl had dreadful attitude and threw the spoons down and said to my elderly mother you are in control of the cutlery. Overall won’t be going back and can see it closing down within a year. It may limp through another year but it really needs change in all aspects

Haven't been here for many years and we were in the area for lunch. Have got to say the menu was interesting, lots of very different items on it. I went for the morrocan lamb with flatbread, it was cooked to perfection, soft and tasty. I had chips too which were lovely. Hubby had the chicken roast, it was a nice plateful and very tasty. Daughter had the pizza, wow! Lovely hand made dough, baked really well. Service was great, all the girls were polite and welcoming and the atmosphere was very laid back with chilled vibes. We will come again.

A wonderful meal this evening! Very impressed with the presentation, the fullness of the ingredients (no scrimping) and the flavour! The he menu is excellent, I am even having a dessert when I don’t usually. Thanks to the staff who were delightful.

I really enjoyed going back to 'flying fox' Ego now. So much better food and lovely staff! Definitely recommend!

What a beautiful,clean and welcoming establishment, the team worked superbly together our waitress was knowledgeable,polite and happy(poppy) our food was presented very well and was absolutely delicious! Will definitely be coming back and recommending to others!

Had a fabulous meal here for Father's Day. The food was superb and the staff were very efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.

I would give it 5 stars however, I only realised later that I was charged for my pint when I should’ve had it complimentary. For Farther’s day they clearly advertised a free pint for dads with a meal. There was a set menu for this special day and it wasn’t exactly cheap. I did leave a tip too. Great atmosphere and I would come again. Would just be nice if they gave what they promised. I wish I checked the bill properly but was with my 2 young boys and they were getting eager to leave.

Service poor, food very average and couldn't wait to kick us out so they could get off...around ten...

Staff were helpful and the disabled toilet was downstairs I had to ask for a key open toilet. as the main toilet was upstairs. The meal felt as expensive as what we had ,sea bass was on the bed watercress but there was too much cress few cubes roast potatoes .

Well what can I say… We used to visit this Pub quite often a few years ago but it had gone massively downhill under the Vintage Inns brand. Our frequent visits reduced to zero as the quality, cleanliness and service had all but diminished. We were passing on the way from work and thought we’d pop-in for a pint as the place has been fairly recently refurbished. From the offset, we were made to feel very welcome and subsequently decided to stay on for dinner. The Staff team members were great, refreshing to see such a young team with great enthusiasm and dynamism. Credit to all of them in particular Jake the Bar Manager who was a great laugh. The food arrived and it was superb, couldn’t really fault it and was good value for money. Could really taste the herbs & spices and the food was very fresh, tasty and hot. The Flying Fox has always been a ‘cosy’ pub and today’s visit was just lovely! Let’s hope that the enthusiasm continues, the food standards are kept up and the management keep all the staff on-board and fully engaged. We will return soon to one of our old favourite haunts. As it stands, give it a go, you won’t be disappointed!

Chanced upon this place on a trip home and as we were all hungry, we decided to stop. We, being 3 adults and one not so happy child. Was a bit worried about stopping in a place I didn't know anything about, but took a chance. Despite not having a booking, and a Friday night, we were seated straight away. The wait staff were quick to attend to us. Offered water for the table on being seared, and left us a few mins, before coming back to take our drink orders. The menu was a selection of very nice dishes, maybe a little more than I usually last - prices ranging from 15 to about 25 a main course. The kids menu was lovely, not your usual, nuggets and sausage affair. My son, however, was over tired and stressed at making any choices. Eventually settled on a make your own pizza. This was amazing and made his day and lifted his mood. The base and selected toppings were brought out, along with a chefs hat. He was told when he was finished, he could then take it to the kitchen to be cooked. He loved the whole experience...simple gestures make it worth the extra. All the food was lovely and plenty of it. 3 of the 4 of us needed doggy bags. Wonderful place, delicious food. Highly recommend.

Updated from 4 to 5 stars, they've had a refurbishment. Staff were excellent and attentive, even answered questions about meat cuts etc. couldn't fault the place this time at all. Will definitely return soon. Well done, what an upgrade to everything and everyone at the venue!!

Daughters birthday so we were told it was a perfect place to try. Never again. Table booked for 7pm so got there 6.40pm, lovely. Got our Table immediately and a drink order complete, waited quite a while for anyone to take our food order, we had asked for 2 steaks but informed they had run out so we opted for kebabs. So 2 kebabs and 2 pasta dishes, seems OK. 45 minutes later we had to ask what's happening, others at other table were also a bit miffed as one lady was a vegetarian but got ham in her salad. But worst was as we ate our food 6 ladies on table behind us got 4 steaks. Yes after they informed us they had run out they obviously found 4 in the back of the freezer but didn't ask us but gave them to people that arrived after us. Pathetic excuse of no gas in kitchen but able to pan fry 4 when we only wanted 2, humm. Love to hear some feedback from the company.

Great food and friendly service.

Six of us went for lunch at 1200. Took 20 mins to get a jug of water. It was about 1315 when we got our food and had to chase the side orders. The food was lovely when we eventually got it, but the service was really not good. The booking said we had the table until 2pm, but there is no way we could have been finished by then. We didn't stay for a coffee as we would normally do. Not sure where the system fell down, but we'll think twice before booking again

Five of us for Sunday lunch. The price for two courses is very reasonable. My meal of pan roasted pork fillet was too dry also the roast parsnips too hard and I had to ask for a steak knife to cut both the pork and parsnips.. not sure it was a proper steak knife…I left most of the pork and parsnips and did complain to the waiter who apologised but didn’t offer any discount. My desert was very nice but I was given a soup spoon to eat and not a desert spoon and small fork. My friends steak looked like the sole of a shoe and was inedible she didn’t mention that to the waiter. Friendly staff but they need to know what cutlery goes with what dish.

Absolutely awful experience. Me and my family went for a family members 80th birthday, I couldn't think of a worse way to celebrate it. We preordered a month in advance our meals for the 10 of us attending, to find that only 8 meals arrived, one of the 2 not arriving being the very woman who's 80th it was that we were dining for. One members drink order was handed to them wrong 3 times in a row! Another asked for no ice and received ice. I asked for no tomato and received tomato, had I have been allergic to this instead of just not wanting it, this would've been an even worse mistake on top of the several we experienced throughout the night. When we complained to the manager, hoping for some kind of compensation or rectification of the mistakes, there was next to no sympathy for us, no attempt at amending anything and to finalise it, kicked out one of our family members who spoke up about the issues. The experience as a whole was arguably one of the worst dining experiences I, and many others attending, have ever had and we will most certainly not be returning as a result. Service was abysmal, food was mediocre at best for the price of it, wouldn't wish it upon anyone to have to sit through that as we had to. Please avoid this establishment at all costs.

Absolutely dreadful Pub and Restaurant with ridiculous prices and very poorly run and badly managed by very rude and selfish members of staff and Landlord. It's far too loud, cramped and packed out in there too! What ever you do, please avoid going there!

We visited on a Saturday evening for a family member's 80th Birthday celebration. I wish we hadn't. Despite pre-ordering 10 meals, only 8 meals arrived at the table! They got our drink orders wrong too. It was packed with customers, not much room to eat and the noise was horrendous. You could barely hear to speak. After complaining, the landlord asked one of us to leave! He and his staff simply didn't care. There were no apologies or redress for their mistakes which absolutely ruined our evening. I haven't experienced such a poorly run, noisy and over priced establishment before. Please avoid!

We all went out to eat at this Pub and Restaurant on a Saturday evening to help celebrate one of the Family's very special Birthdays. It was the worst experience that we ever had in a very poorly managed and badly run establishment. Two out of the ten of us didn't even get meals even though we'd preordered them in advance and they even got the drink orders wrong too as we could hardly hear ourselves speak in there. It was basically Fawlty Towers reinvented, not the Flying Fox. The Landlord even asked one of us to leave after he'd had a complaint. He and his staff didn't care about the mistakes that they had all made to ruin our evening out and didn't even want to do anything to make amends as well as not apologising to us all for what they did! They were very rude and selfish! We won't be returning to this place ever again given that it was also too cramped and packed out in there! Please avoid it at all costs!

I whent to order a pint of beer but was told They could not serve me because the computers were all down ???

Menu looks great but the food was disappointing. I had minted lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and the lamb was fatty and the potatoes were worse than the Iceland ready made ones. Plenty of parking.

What a big disappointment!!! 2 years ago this pub had a classy menu and the Sunday roast was to die for. The pub is under a new ownership and the food is poorly made distasteful and the manager is so rude. I wouldn’t recommend this pub now to anyone. Such terrible roast, bland dry and the presentation is not good. Shame shame

Looks lovely inside and out, but I started looking at the menu and couldn’t believe the prices. My friend had an halloumi cheese skewer which had lots of vege on it, £19!!! For cheese and vege. I looked on the back of the menu and there was a lunchtime bit that was a bit more reasonable £12 for the haddock with triple cooked chips. I also ordered Camembert not realising it was breaded bites. My mates looked lovely, my fish had soggy batter, the chips were not nice and the Camembert was really strong with ammonia, left half of all of it. Wouldn’t eat there again really disappointed. Fairly new friend so didn’t say anything to the staff at the time. Also, we had to try and get attention for everything, the dessert menu, ordering the dessert, the bill.

Visited the Flying Fox last night for the 2 for £30 mid week offer and can honestly say a great experience from start to finish, lovely welcoming and cosy atmosphere, extensive menu beautifully prepared and presented food, (the Rump Steak was especially good, perfectly cooked and so tasty), the best I've had in a long time, the indulgent triple choc brownie was devine too!, extensive range of drinks and impeccable service from our waitress Jasmyn, nothing was too much trouble, (give that girl a raise!), well done to all the team. Will definitely recommend and be back soon. Thanks! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is my first visit since it had changed hands. What a pleasant place to visit. The staff were very attentive the food was hot as were the plates. Really impressed and would recommend dining here.

A lovely evening with friends in a warm inviting environment. The drinks were good and a great selection, the menu is inspiring and offers lots of flavours and the prices are average to high. The only downfall for me was the Moroccan lamb. The flavours were wonderful but the actual lamb was dry and crumbly within the sauce. As though it has been left for ages before being served. I will try it again though because it's definitely worth another visit. It could've just been a very busy evening and a one off. Overall, a very nice evening had by all. The staff are great! 👍

We stopped here for dinner. The menu was different from our local Ego, but I kind of liked that. The food was beautifully cooked and presented.

We ate at The Flying Fox on Good Friday as part of a bit of a family meet up. The team were very flexible in hosting a table of 9, including young children, plus a dog. Service was brilliant - very attentive and friendly - the food tasted great, and the pricing (particularly the lunch menu) was very fair. The interior is very nice and well kept. We will certainly be back again!

Just returned from an exceptional evening meal. The Flying Fox has recently been updated and was faultless from the moment we walked in. Friendly, relaxed and pleasant staff. It was busy but the service was quick, polite and friendly. The food was also exceptional, great choice and well cooked. I met the Polish head chef and must mention our server, Danielle, thank you.

Great staff very friendly now a Ego Med Restaurant still called the flying fox. Beautiful decor modern but still has that cozy pub feel. I loved it. Food is great they even have a vegan menu with plenty of choice.

Was a Vintage Inn now an Ego. Also refurbished. A lot better service, with a "greeter" to take you to your table, there were plenty of staff, ours was very pleasant. Food had a Mediterranean theme, but still retained pub favourites (Steak Pie) well presented and tasty. We will return.

I needed to change my positive review. The service was great and the flavour of the food was good is well . I ordered "King Prawns with chilli pasta" and something was wrong with the prawns. It was the first time in the last 30 years , that my stomach revolted and everything ended up in the toilet . I was there a couple of times , but this was the last time .

Unfortunately, the service at the Flying Fox has decreased in the last months. Booked table wasn't ready on arrival (30min wait), time waiting to order drinks and food was too long, staff constantly gathering by the entrance chatting, we had to stand up to find staff members to ask for few things, the food quality wasn't at the expected (visited previously), order had to be changed due to lack of enough sirloin steaks... and the list keeps going on and on. After 4 visits, this will be the last one.

We booked a table for 4 people at 5.45pm on a Saturday evening. We arrived a little earlier at 5.20pm and although the restaurant was virtually empty we were asked to wait in the bar whilst they "prepared" the table. The bar area was very small and there wasn't a table that could accommodate all four of us together so we sat on two tables for two. After around 15 minutes we were invited to our table. The waitress kept calling us "lovely" whilst she took our order. After around 30 mins, our starters had not arrived and she came over to apologise that she hadn't actually put through the order to the kitchen. It took another 15 minutes before the starters arrived. Three of the mains came fairly quickly after we had finished the starters but we were told that the fourth one had been made incorrectly and were told that we could either accept the incorrect dish or wait "four minutes" for the correct one (chicken skewers) to be cooked. My son set a stopwatch and the correct dish didn't come for another 11 minutes by which time the other three of us had finished their mains. There was no apology but the 'manager' who was now attending to us said that "the best [she] could do" was to offer us a free dessert. The correct thing to do would have been to apologise and remove the main course that had been delayed from the bill. We were so taken aback by the appalling service that we decided to get the bill and leave immediately. The delayed main course had now been reluctantly removed from the bill solely because we hadn't eaten it. When we left the staff did not apologise for the diabolical service. Please employ competent staff and managers that care and have sufficient authority to deal adequately with poor service. A free dessert when you have completely messed up is not sufficient.
