The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

So... I've been coming here on and off for a few months now. I work close by and sometimes stop in with my coworkers for a well deserved drink. Each time we have visited, we have been greeted by Enya. I have never received such brilliant customer service. She is the sole reason we keep coming back. Although the place is well-maintained, clean, cost-effective and well-managed, this can be found in lots of places. What's hard to find is amazing customer service. Enya provides this. She makes me and my coworkers feel very welcome on every visit and has even remembered our drink orders since our first visit! In being in management myself, I understand how important reviews are to commend great service. This woman needs a payrise!! Absolutely fantastic, never felt more at home and looked after. I really hope this is shared with her because she definitely deserved the upmost recognition. Keep smashing it Enya, and we will most DEFINITELY be back! Thank you for looking after us :)

Llegamos al Bistro y nos sentamos bastante rápido. Me temo que eso era lo único que se parecía al servicio. Pedimos unas bebidas previas que tardaron más de 20 minutos en llegar. Aparentemente las bebidas tienen que venir del Hotel Bar en otro edificio! Los menús son confusos y tienen demasiadas opciones juntas. Ok a la comida. Elegí King Scallop’s a £16, es decir, £8 cada uno, llegaron fríos con una corteza que estaba muy seca y completamente insípida. Uno de nosotros había cóctel de gambas llegó con lechuga húmeda con probablemente gambas congeladas, había un toque de salsa Marie Rose en el fondo. A continuación vinieron las comidas principales que me alegré de haber elegido un filete ribeye, ahora no pueden arruinar eso, ¿verdad? Bueno, sí que lo hicieron. Tenía la forma de un filete de grupa y era incortable con cuchillos romos dados. El resto de las comidas eran pasables pero no era bueno para los precios cobrados. La carta de vinos era variada y tenía buenas opciones. No todos comimos un dulce, ya que nos quedamos sin tiempo para cuando llegó nuestro taxi. En general - mal servicio y muy mala comida.

Visited on a day trip from Lowestoft to Norwich on the train. A large Spoons, the ladies loo (yes, upstairs!) is palatial! Breakfast was good, served promptly and set us up for the day, only disappointment was non availability of fresh fruit for our fruit and yogurt!

Really good experience today at the Harvester. Served by Stacey and she was really friendly and helpful. We were a big table with lots of drinks and orders but she handled it with a great sense of humour. Food was great and the place was clean 10/10

Very welcoming team at this pub , very helpful and super efficient in such a busy environment. Great selection of drinks/beers and so on Sunday roasts great and both the classic and buttermilk Burgers were spot on. Great choice of deserts too

Scam! Pub is closed. Last owner did a runner and charged my credit card for a room they had no intent on providing. Total criminal.

The dining experience was truly exceptional, elevated by the impeccable service provided by our waitress Sofia. Her attentiveness and warm demeanor created a welcoming atmosphere. The culinary creations were equally impressive, showcasing a masterful blend of flavors. The Korean chicken butger dish, in particular, was a standout, boasting a perfect balance of crispy texture and savory sauce. Overall, the combination of superb service and delectable cuisine made for a memorable meal.

Ridiculous restaurant. You ring their telephone number with an answerphone saying we cannot accept your call!!! How about that for service!!!!! Never again

Staff is very friendly, food is good. Definitely a nice atmosphere, with customers that go almost every day. We visited with our dog, totally loved it

Had dinner here as part of the dine and stay package with the hotel. Food was really delicious and we both really enjoyed the pod atmosphere. Minus a mix up when we arrived as they couldn’t find out booking the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. A lot of people have commented on the price but surely people would have known what to expect when booking and looking online at the prices and menu. The pod itself was a little too big for just two people but felt like they found us a space because they couldn’t see our booking. The pods were warm although the waiters a lot of the time banged on the door and spoke through it rather than coming in. I guess to stop the cold coming in but did feel a little awkward at times. Overall we enjoyed the food very much and would eat her again

Updatw: Another excellent roast! Sharing platters were fab. Staff fitted us in short notice. Food was top drawer! Excellent roast! And I mean 1st class! 7 of us were seated and served within 10 minutes notice that we were coming! Very good service, polite staff. We were all really pleased with our meals especially the cauliflower cheese and tasty gravy. Will return for sure! Geoff Grove

Lovely pub, and even better staff. Very friendly and welcoming. Food is amazing and well cooked.

We attended for dinner as we are staying close by for a little break away with family. Once seated It took a while for someone to take our order, when ordering the menu options were very limited as they had run out of a lot of things at 7pm on a Thursday evening. We placed our order for starters and main. While waiting for our starters (some of them) which took around an hour to come out we noticed other tables complaining and refusing to pay for their meals as they weren’t getting what they asked for and we’re walking out. An hour passes and we have already asked where our starters are being told they will be coming out soon. 10mins later some bread and oil come out which is missing butter and olives. Also, Fried pickles come out missing dipping sauce. Then we are waiting on two scampi dippers which at this point we are told they don’t have anymore of and are then told we will be having calamari which we say no too. We then wait for a further 10 mins and give up after another table walks out not paying. And we go and speak to the manager and tell him we don’t want our main meals and aren’t eating our starters. Which we are then told he full understands they have a cover Chef in and it’s not working out at all.

The food very nice apart from Parsnips they were cremated from the carvery. Apart from that everything fine. Louise the waitress very attentive. And very good at her job. Very polite. Very welcoming. Have been several times. Going again in March.
