Phoned on three separate days to book a table in restaurant but got no answer so called in as we were passing one day. There is a large seat blocking the bar/restaurant entrance and the doors were shut at about 15.00 on a Wednesday. I can only assume it's not open now. The opening/closing information has also been removed from the main sign near the road.

We visited The Ship at Brandon Creek and ordered paninis for lunch: chili chicken, and cheese and red onion. These were both served with a small garden salad and five or six crisps. The paninis were baguettes with an insulting meager amount of filling. I asked the surly bartender if he would be happy to be served these. His excruciating arrogant response was "We have been serving these all day and no one else has complained". He was exceptionally argumentative and clueless regarding how to speak with dissatisfied customers. The chef offered to add more cheese. We asked for and received a refund of £15.90. There was no comprehension of how on earth we could not be happy with what we received. There was no empathy or an apology from any of the three staff members present.

This place has weird hippie vibes mixed with smelly incense and indian music. I used shazam to work out what it was playing. It was “While My Sitar Gently Weeps Banaras Baba & Kolkata Kid” Very strange music unrelated to jungles and more Hindu religion. I was expecting food all there was some cakes and empty sausage rolls in the cake container on display. We aren't from the area and just googled cafes close by. The cakes were average, not fresh. The place was empty except for two other people there. I didn't like the dangling plants every where. One to avoid if you're ever in the area.

Really recommend this place. Last minute dinner booking, with no issues for a table of six. Lovely place and a good menu. The food was really nice and came promptly. What made this place though was the service from the two ladies who waited on our table. They were extremely kind and friendly and I'd go as far as saying they probably provided the best service I've ever experienced anywhere.

I always say this is a great go to pub, for food and drink at great prices, however my last couple of visits that included food wasn’t quite as good, the food was not as good? What’s changed guys?, I had the madras curry yesterday, the naan was overdone, popadums under done, and the rice and curry not quite on it, has something changed in last couple of months? I’ve always thought that this particular pub was excellent for food. So come on get back to being great.

One night stay to attend a Wedding. Prior to my stay I found the communication was very good and was able to book in earlier so I was able to attend the Wedding service on time and not to worry about booking in later. On arrival I found a friendly and welcoming member of staff and was very helpful. My stay was very good and the cooked breakfast was great. Thankyou

Beer flat and not very nice swapped glass no problem but didn't make the Stella any better biggest problem was the garden 2 boymcy castles free foe the kids great but 1 member of staff bought put food 3 times and not once picked up any glasses or empty plates overall pretty poor when customers have to put empties to other tables to sit down

How disappointed we were I booked a table for 7 people at 11:30 and a further 7 people for 12 noon We were running the Chelmsford 10k and half marathon The 11:30 crowd arrived early and had breakfast The older lady in charge was very abrupt bordering on rudeness There were 2tables reserved for 12noon crowd which we suggested she gave up as people were waiting and we would go when the others arrived hence giving them our table I have subsequently heard that they were requested to leave as they had been sitting there from 11am and one lady was not allowed to finish her meal It was not just us who found her attitude rude but subsequent other diners not linked to our group I come into Small Talk when I visit Chelmsford but after this experience I shan’t visit again A very disappointed diner
