1 out of 5. Bingo taken so seriously, you get looked at in disgust for ordering a drink or even laughing in between rounds. Rude staff that make jokes then take offence when you joke back Hot tap inoperable. Try to turn it on and it turns like an owls neck. Good food was its only saving grace.

Called in to melford for a late lunch. First stop (no names) one we’ve used before, walked out after waiting five mins at bar, second in queue, for someone to turn up to serve. Second stop, pub almost opposite, sign saying food till 3. Told sorry kitchen being cleaned so no food, this was 2.50. Fist time visit to the cock and bell , great food(both had the pie) and service with a smile. We will be back unlike the other two.

A lovely traditional old pub in the centre of this lovely village. There are different seaing areas inside and table and benches at the front. The menu is varied and the prices extremely reasonable. For example the Sunday turkey roast dinner that I chose had five different vegetables plus all the other trimmings and priced at just under £13 whereas I usually pay anything between £18 to £24 and it was just as good. Its very poplular therefore very busy but the staff were very friendly and helpful all through our visit.

We ate here twice. First, we ate a late lunch. We both ate toasted rosemary focaccia sandwiches with fries. My sandwich filling was Salami, Pesto & Rocket while my wife's had Grilled Halloumi & Roasted Veg. The food was tasty and the fries were really hot. On a separate day, we ate supper. Beef and Ale pie with gravy, fries and broccolini for my wife while I had fish & chips with mushy peas. For dessert, we had Eton Mess Sundae and sticky toffee pudding with custard. Again, the food was good.

The Sunday roasts are absolutely amazing here! Worth the book! Fluffy roast potatoes succulent veggies, the biggest yorkshires I've ever seen and the best value for money I've seen in a while.

I decided to come here for a few drinks and meals to prep before I made my way to leestock for 1pm. The food was amazing! It was very busy so we had to wait a while. The woman at the bar was wonderful and incredibly helpful.

Booked for a Roast dinner for 25 people on a Sunday afternoon. Ended up being nearer 30 very accommodating and flexible. We we completing the London Marathon 2024 MyWay and had set the finish line outside the pub so we could all get some food and a celebratory drink quite quickly. I booked a time but advised we might be a bit earlier or later who knows. JP was great and someone checked in with him when we were about half an hour away and they cracked on and dinner was bang on time. its no mean feet to deliver 30ish roasties at the same time. Thanks all you were stars!

Don't go. Terrible pub. Used to be good but friends told us food had deteriorated. Decided to try and booked. When we arrived all tables taken for bingo night. The booking system doesn't work, the atmosphere was awful but the staff were lovely. Apologetic and agreed with us about the awful on line booking system

Our visit to the cock and bell was amaziing, Food was great, good value and piping hot. Staff are fantastic and very attentive. Great local and good atmosphere.

Very pleasant lunch here after a walk in the surrounding countryside. Service was excellent and staff friendly. Basic pub grub but hit the spot. Worth a visit.

Had a meal here on Tuesday 13th Feb in the evening with my friend. I had hunters chicken and sticky toffee pudding. Food was amazing, the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Service is always good on the times I've popped in. Lovely atmosphere too

Lovely pub, plenty of choice great value food and lovely staff. Never been disappointed. A group of 6 adults and 2 children. Light cheerful atmosphere, just right for a family lunch.

Superb! … I cannot understand the negative reviews. We have now eaten here 3 times including yesterday (3rd Feb ‘24) and on all 3 occasions, 2 on a Saturday and one a Wednesday, we were not disappointed… Atmosphere lovely, really warm and friendly with a good mix of age groups. Staff courteous and friendly, as well as excellent food! .. I will admit I am fussy about food and feel aggrieved when paying for food out which is not up to scratch or you could cook better yourself at home, but this is not the case here! .. I have had their beautiful thick cheese and garlic focaccia bread followed by fish and chips twice and yesterday the steak and ale pie with mash. Best pie I have eaten in a long time! My mouth is watering thinking about it! … My husband had the mixed grill which was fantastic with everything you could wish for on the plate and previous visits he had the burger meal which was spot on also! Wine good plus non alcoholic beer available! Cannot fault it! We live half hour away but class it as our ‘go to place’ now.

Lovely little pub only downfall is seating , would have been useful if reserved tables had times on as we stood at bar and none of reserve tables had been used so could’ve sat down.

Absolutely shocking service…booked a standard table, no frills attached, 2-3 months prior….. got sat at a decked out Christmas table, under the assumption we had booked for a Christmas get together. Got handed one set of menus, to then be told 5 minutes later, that we had the wrong menus, and we needed the Christmas menus. Obviously confused, we then made our new choices….to be told yet again, we had the wrong menus as they were under the assumption that we booked a Christmas table (we did not). Got given the original menus with a very hostile response from the waitress, saying its roasts or nothing. This was not our mistake, we did not book a Christmas table, and we were made to feel like we were in the wrong. Never had bad service in the past, being local, we frequent this pub often, but the service and attitude we received from a certain waitress will not be forgotten. And also overheard our children protesting over the long wait for food and said Santa won’t come if you misbehave. Food was sub par…. Standards have gone downhill in recent months and as for service, I think some definite training needs to be undertaken.

Where do I start! The waitress was diabolical the service was attricoous! I booked a table about 3 months ago. Just a standard table for 8. We sat down to a table of crackers and a festive spread (which we didn't book) we found our own menus to be told we had the festive menu ( again didn't book) so menus got changed and then by the rude waitress told us abruptly there was only roast for everyone including the children. We then asked her again if we could have starters and the child's menu to be told "whatever" and she will check with the kitchen. The food was cold and raw. The service was slow, and when my nephew moaned he was hungry the waitress then said santa won't come if he's naughty!! The whole afternoon was a shambles on the pubs part and we had been looking forward to this for months. We have always been local and utterly disappointed. We will look for a better establishment in the future

We always book a table early evening for a meal and bingo every Wednesday night, but a lot of the time we arrive our table has been given to someone else, as a lot of the time the reversed signs are not on the table, but they seem to have reserved signs on tables where the Bingo only players do not arrive till around 7pm. The staff then ask them to move, and quite rightly so, sometimes the customers get angry as there is no reserved sign on the table, and wounder why they was not informed that the table was reserved in first place. This sometimes puts the staff open for abuse which is totally avoidable, and could also be a loss in custom, and a bad review. There is one thing that is lacking, which is the staff just need to check the book for bookings, and this could be a very simple step which should be implemented totally. All staff should be reminded at all staff meetings which either does not happen or they just ignore the instruction. I am rating this as 3 stars as the food is very good, and have no complaints about the food and Kitchen staff.

Called in with my daughters at lunch, had a very nice meal well cooked and nice and hot. Didn’t have to wait long for our food , certainly an improvement on the last time we went. Overall a very nice pud serving good pub food at an affordable price.

Well we used to eat at this pub before the pandemic but we stopped as the food became a bit of hit and miss. We decided to give it another go .Wow what a difference the atmosphere was a lot better. staff seemed happier. The whole place looked better.We had our meal which was Hunters Chicken,Fish and chips.and it was fabulous piping hot and very tasty.We have now been going every week and myself I look forward to my Hunters chicken .I look at the menu but still stick to that.I spoke to a member of staff to compliment them on the food atmosphere etc.I was told they now have a new manager and new kitchen staff. Still a few familiar faces and I will say you can see the difference all round.Quality of food.Staff . Service .Well done to everyone.Keep up the good work.

On a recent visit to the pub, to say we were disappointed was an understatement. Having read the previous reviews, we were hoping that this would be a fitting venue to meet up for a long overdue family reunion. Whilst we appreciated from the start that this would be typical chain pub ping food, we were frankly expecting more based on the reviews.On this occasion we ordered a sharing platter to start which was much as expected apart from the nachos which weren't nachos but some sort of pastry slices. In the meantime, the rest of the party joined us and ordered their mains. These arrived within a reasonable time however the Scampi was cold and the chips undercooked. Once we has finished our starter, it soon became apparent that our mains order had either been forgotten or put after everyone else that had ordered since we arrived as it took over an hour for the mains to arrive. When they did, the Cheese and Bacon burger was over cooked and inedible and went straight to a doggy bag for the pets at home, the duo of fish was dried out salmon that appeared to have been under a heat lamp for some time, coupled with cold prawns. Again, less than appetising. The mixed grill was also disappointing as the steak was nowhere near the medium rare requested, the Gammon was overcooked, the chicken breast dry and the sausages could have been marketed as vegan due to the high rusk content and lack of meat. Again, most of it was consigned to the doggy bag.On a plus note, the service was friendly and polite and our waitress was very apologetic over the delay.It just appears that more, attention to detail would help as the pub was still littered with expired Christmas offers etc which gave the impression that no one really cared about the impression given on entering the pub.Maybe this was an off day, but I would not be in a rush to return.

Just had lunch with some friends in the Cock and Bell and I must say it was very nice. We only had mains but all were very good. I had Beef and Ale pie, my friend Ken had the veggie pie, his partner Kern had the Fish and Chips and my wife Helle also had Fish and Chips. As there was a slight issue with Helle’s meal Peter the manager gave us her meal free which was very kind. All in all the food and service was great well done

Had a great three course meal this evening and could not fault the meal at all. Plenty of king prawns in the prawn cocktail, large portion of pate, all our four steaks done to perfection & deserts gorgeous and only £18 each. Excellent service too, great atmosphere, will definitely return.

2nd visit to this restaurant. Service a little slow but fortunately we wernt in a hurry - was well worth the wait. Affordable nicely presented food. Great value for money

It was alright. Beer selections were pretty good, even though some options were unavailable. The place itself was cold… so didn’t stay long. Did look very festive though!

Booked a table for a family meal. We had to order our food by 8.00pm. I know ot was a Monday but not a welcomig we woulof expected. 2 of the meals we ordered off the menu were not available. We ordered a sharer platter and weren't given side plates or cutlery. I wasn't given any cutlery for my main course. We were not given an opportunity to order a dessert and they took 50mims to clear the table after our meal. A very disappointing experience and not very welcoming.

We booked on line using the Greene King app but on arrival the pub was very busy and the lady who greeted us could not find our booking. We shown a table and advised of a 40 minute wait for food because a table of 12 had just ordered. We agreed to wait and after a bit of a mix up and delay with our first drink and having to fetch our second drinks ourselves from the bar, food arrived and it was very good. We shared the nachos starter. Obviously home made and very tasty. We both had the signature fish dish, an unusual combination but again very tasty. The fish was cooked perfectly. We were there for 2 hours and will telephone to book again.

We went in for lunch today. The staff was lovely & very welcoming. The service from the young man was brilliant & the food was really lovely. We couldn’t fault anything.We will definitely be back with the family next time. Thank you for a pleasant afternoon.

There were two us us visiting Suffolk from kent. I am vegan and the mushroom and ale pie with chips, broccoli and gravy was gorgeous. My friend had the katsu curry and was equally impressed. We were unaware of the two mains for one discount which was a lovely surprise. Very clean, efficient and the saff were welcoming.

My wife & I had booked a meal for 4 adults & 1 child to celebrate our Grandsons 18th. birthday. Food was excellent & quick service, atmosphere was relaxed & friendly, staff were brilliant, even taking photos of all of us!! Would definitely recommend this Pub.Thanks to all who helped make it an enjoyable event,especially the Chef,who had to serve & prepare 5 different dishes to be served @ same time. Well Done!!!

Lovely pub , atmosphere great , unfortunately even though table had been booked and reserved, we were shown to our table then waited at least 40 mins before having to get up to remind a waitress , we had not even had someone take our order (even for a drink ). Understand in these covid restrictions times there will be a long wait but would have appreciated the drinks ordered whilst waiting one hour for meal and drink .

Green King pub food is generally OK but nothing special. It's a decent pub in the lovely village of long melford. A few tables outside on the pavement but unfortunately no beer garden. Service good and prices paid for food fair.

There was 6 adults & 3 small children in out party.I had booked a table the week before & did a pre order for food ,I must admit i was a bit concerened about pre ordering but Jade who took the order was very good & explained various meals as to what you get with it etc.We arrived on time & was immediately shown to our table.Yes we had to wait a little while for our meals but they was busy & glad we had pre ordered as it went really well.Jade was our waitress & she did so well nothing too much trouble,she had everything under control.We all enjoyed our meals which was well cooked & hot no complaints at allSo thanks Jade .We will be back !!!

They are back!!! JP and Bexx are back running this pub in Long Melford - thank goodness!! When JP left as the Manager it declined to the point we stopped going. The service and general ‘Management’ was abysmal. It was dirty and very poor. We went last night and saw the effort these two are making to turn it around. Sadly they have the a lot of work to do to turn it around to how it was, but the food was good, great value and the staff could not have been more attentive! Please give this lovely pub another chance everyone- these two deserve all the support we can give! Well done guys - it is great to have you back! Thank goodness Green King have made a good decision to get you back! Good luck x

There are several pubs in Long Melford, but of those visited this is our favourite. It's great to have a cocktail served as it should be and the food here is excellent too. We both picked gammon steaks and they were cooked perfectly. The staff here are really welcoming and friendly, despite being very busy most of the time, they make this place. We're glad to have found it and hope to return when we next holiday here.

Went in for a drink and was greeted by wonderful barman who showed us to our table. Served us with drinks. Family joined us and as we were sat at the back of the restaurant nearer the bathrooms a family member used them. Shortly after a very rude “supervisor” approached the table to say those toilets were not allowed to be used as they were only staff toilets. No signage on the door to either toilets to state what toilets they were or that they were not to be used for the public I will not be returning due to the rudeness of that particular staff member. Shame on you

Tonight me and my partner went to the cock and bell, our first meal out since lockdown, the staff were very friendly and polite, and the chef Dave K done is the best steaks we have had in many years, despite be exceptionally busy, the food was exceptional, we will definitely be back again, thank you to the staff and chef Dave K

Landlady extremely rude throughout the night.Awful woman.Food was microwaved and overpriced... You need to be drunk to accept it!Waiting staff fabulous and clearly asked to defend the indefensible.A shame that such an iconic pub in a fabulous location can be run into the ground like this.

Thought we would try and support one of our local pubs but some things never change.Staff lovely and make you feel welcome but food awful.On this occasion “steak night” both rump steaks were tough as old boots, microwaved veg, reheated chips and onion rings that must have been poached not deep fried, offered new baby potatoes chose new baby potatoes then informed don’t have new baby potatoes.Drinks fine, service lovely ,food terrible , what a shame as it’s not hard to get this kind of simple food right, try the George Cavendish.£9 for a meal sounds cheap but it’s really not if it’s not cooked properly, happy to pay more and it be edible.Once again the young lady was very apologetic but still charged for full bill.

Really disappointed with how the so called land lady and land lord spoke to us at the end of the evening. After spending a really pleasent evening with friends I've not seen for months to be spoken to in such an aggressive manner was not only a shock but really out of order

We enjoyed a meal with family following lockdown easing. Atmosphere outside was good and patio heaters did well to fight off the cold weather. Staff very attentive.Good was good, although my wife's first choice from the menu was unavailable and my steak baguette was somewhat tough. A nice experience overall though.

My friend ( social bubble) & I went for a meal, felt safe food was lovely and Harley who served us was very knowledgeable regarding the Rum Shannon & Harley made us feel very welcome & kept us entertained, will definitely be back, hopefully sometime soon

Popped in to the Cock & Bell Long Melford. Great service - made to feel so welcome even with our dog. Spotlessly clean and all COVID restrictions in place including QR codes, sanitising gel, face masks worn by all staff and table well distanced.

We had a fantastic evening celebrating a 14th Birthday. The food was amazing. Extremely sorry we didn't add any photos but we were too busy tucking into our meals. The sharing starters are just fantastic. We had a variety of meals, The lamb shank, tikka masala, burgers. All cooked perfectly. We eat at many green King pubs and it still amazes me how different the meals are here. Obviously cooked with love and attention to detail. Just can't fault it. Service, staff, food, and gin variety makes it an easy choice for a great family treat.

Had a wonderful lunch with my dad and grandad. Harley (our waiter) was brilliant and very kind. Food was great, all in all. Good place!

We have visited here many times and as always found the service exceptional, particularly from a very polite and helpful young lady called Jess. Also we would like to mention Harley for his good service with humour.

While visiting Long Melford (September 2020) this was the 4th place we tried to see if we could get anything (anything at all) for a vegan friendly lunch. I wish we'd started here. The staff were so helpful and called up the menu on an ipad so we could do a quick search for all the meals that would fit the bill - and there were quite a few choices. I ended up having a pie, chips, fresh vegetables and gravy and it was delicious. Also, the staff were really hot on hygiene and keeping the place COVID safe, so well done to them on this! My husband isn't a vegan and loved his meal too. Well done to you all, we will definitely be back soon.

Turned up tonight (quiz night) and hadn’t booked. The place was packed but the lady on the door was warm and friendly and very welcoming and found us a table. Used the Greene King app to order and the service was very efficient. Lovely pub and staff. Impressed

I have been twice recently, both times I have ordered the chicken tikka masala and been told they don’t have it. When I said this was the same last time I was told they can’t get it in. Not something you should be telling customers when you’re charging them £9+ for a meal which isn’t even made on-site. I ordered a burger instead, asked for mayonnaise and was told they have run out. Good job my burger had loads in it. Not overly impressed, won’t make a point of coming back.

Went here with friends last week and the service was amazing! The team were very friendly and the pub was clean with very good COVID precautions in place! I will definitely be visiting again soon!

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We only went there as our intended venue had problems that night and were not cooking, so we booked at the last minute at The cock and Bell, and were pleasantly surprised. Safe guarding was brilliant, with all precautions being taken. We felt very comfortable there and the food was great.

Have worked over 250 hours since 1st of October and tonight - I finished my last shift - came with my girlfriend for a meal to chill out and was absolutely blown away with the service - was told 30 minute wait on the food and came within 20 - drinks almost instantly and always a fantastic service provided from Harley, Liam, Skye. Dave personally entertaining us as he always does could not recommend more - great meal, great service and even better atmosphere. Thank you to all

My friend and I dropped in for some lunch today and it was very busy but we were still able to get a table having not booked! The service from Harley and Liam was quick, friendly and all social distancing rules were followed! I witnessed a difficult customer across the room from my table but Jade and Harley handled it extremely well even though they were very busy! Overall a 5 star experience, very impressed!

I just wanted to pop in for a beer whilst waiting for a curry, something I’m sure we’ve all done week in and week out before this awful virus has marred our lives. Going out for a quick beer now is a very different process, the experience still good but.... I wanted to thank the team at the C & B , the chap on the door was excellent, very clear , calming and welcoming. They were spot on with the miriad of rules local businesses now face. It was great to see the place busy filled with drinkers and diners , a nice atmosphere.. we have to support our local pubs and restaurants otherwise its the big chains who will thrive and our choices will be limited, we will be the losers. Just give it a thought, support local and when this is all over we will still have a great choice of places to eat and socialise, keep well....

What a great pub / restaurant they've got it right, social distancing etc they've got it spot on with excellent food and friendly staff

We called in for a light lunch ,the pub was quite busy ,we waited for 15 mins before anyone came to take our drinks order ,so not a good start ,we then decided we would order a bowl of soup and a prawn cocktail ,we were told there was a 35 mins waiting time ,we couldn’t understand why it would take that long ,so we cancelled that ,and asked for a bag of crisps which took another 5 mins,so not the best experience,sorry to say we won’t be returning

Staff were welcoming, attentive and well versed on the current COVID protocols, so we felt welcome and safe. A wide selection of drinks and an even wider selection of food with special offers during our Thursday lunchtime visit.

after being forgotten for over an hour the food arrived forty minutes later the food presentation was very good but now we come to the schoolboy errors the steak ordered to be well done but was still very pink inside not well done, it tasted very strongly of garlic no mention of garlic on the menu.Some people do not like garlic and some have an allergy to it.If its not on the menu do not put it there when cooking steaks keep eye on it .

We live in Melford so this is our local always great customer service the bar staff are very friendly food is fantastic weds nights are bingo night and mondays quiz night always a great crowd. Definitely worth a visit

Called in on a Sunday for a meal. The staff were all very pleasant and the food was very nice. The staff helped my partner to choose gluten free options and there was a G/F cheesecake on offer which is very rare and a welcome change. All in all we had a nice visit after a stressful day looking for property to buy. I have one small criticism. There are symbols on the menu for vegetarian food items and symbols for vegan items, but no symbols for Gluten Free items? I just think it would be easier to put g/f symbols on the menu rather than us keep having to call staff over to check for us, as they were very busy. Other than that, we would definitely return.

Myself and my partner traveled from Bury st Edmunds to Long Melford for the second time in two weeks to have lunch and drinks at the Cock And Bell pub. We love the atmost here there and the staff are very attentive and the food is amazing. Yesterday we were served by Sherelle who was fantastic. Very bubbly and cheerful and attentive to myself and my girlfriend. Thoroughly enjoyable experience Looking forward to going back soon. Jak from Bury st Edmunds.

We stayed in Long Melford for the night and went for drinks in a couple of the local pubs. Our visit to the Cock and Bell was by far the best. They had all the correct Covid measures in place, Shannen and her colleagues made us not only feel safe but the experience as relaxed and welcoming as possible. The best new-normal pub visit, well done guys.

This was our first night out in the pitch black (no street lights) area we moved to last year, while we ate out about 3 times a week where we used to live in Leigh on Sea having to drive without street lights at our age had put us off going but we decided to give it a try. Long Melford is only about 8 miles away from where we live so not too far to drive and the Cock & Bell was the nearest pub we could see on Google, I had reserved a table which with Covid still around is the best thing to do, you can do it online or call them. It was quite busy being a Friday night but we were shown to a table which had just been cleaned straight away, we were offered a throwaway paper menu from a shallow box so less germs could pass between us that seemed a good idea. While waiting for our starter, Strips of chicken in a Louisiana-style coating with a choice of sauces,we were given our drinks, the stater was very nice, we had both ordered the same mains CHICKEN TIKKA BANQUET which was Chicken in a masala sauce with naan bread, rice, onion bhajis, sag aloo, a poppadom and mango chutney I substituted the rice with chips and it was as good as any Indian restaurant would have been. No dessert for us as having to watch our weight, but although limited to only two they both looked very nice.Overall the food was very good, waiting staff very friendly, prices were very reasonable, so what more can you ask for on a Friday night out !

It was good but pretty average, I had fish and chips which was nice but pees were odd looking. The service was quick but waitresses were loud and kept having chatty convos that were off putting

Steak inedible, very tough,fatty, Veg mushy not the best meals, wouldn’t go back. Sent wrong order .

We had lunch here today. This was out first time eating out since lock down. The staff were professional, friendly and very accommodating. Great pub food and great value. We will definitely be coming back.

I really can't rate this pub high enough.It's a hot August night in the middle of 'eat out to help out'. The staff are first class - not all menu options are available and the kitchen is struggling with the demand. The staff communicate superbly. Meals arrive - perfect. Well done Cock and Bell!

First visit for a meal and drink after the Covid 19 closures. Booked table in advance and received a warm welcome and explanation of safety measures in place which was reassuring. I had downloaded the Greene King phone App and used it to order. Worked very well. Food and drinks of the same good quality we have had here in the past as was the service. All in all an excellent experience in the “new normal”.

First time at the pub and absolutely loved it with my family! Superb friendly service, great customer service and all under the pressure of coming out of lockdown! Lucy and Stevie were awesome! Highly recommended!

In uncertain times we had an amazing experience visiting today. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was really good. The choice of gins were amazing. Long Melford is a beautiful place and we are very pleased that we now have a pub we will visit on a regular basis and be sure to tell our friends and family. Thank you to all the staff and management for making our experience safe and enjoyable.

First visit to a pub since lockdown and it was a safe enjoyable experience with my family. Food was really good. Roast Lamb that fell off the bone. Good beer, loads of Gin for my wife to choose from. Staff were warm and welcoming and made the experience feel safe and enjoyable. We will definitely be back to try other things on the menu knowing a great team will be there to look after the whole new pub experience.

I’ve always found the steak here to be poor but in recent visits you have really improved will definitely be ordering again. Good effort well done guys!!!!

We had not been there for a while ,the menu was more varied,and seating had changed.my husband had liver and onions,which he said we lovely and plenty of it .the service very good and pleasant staff. Definitely go again.

It was not particularly busy on Monday 2/3/20 but our food took an age to come. The staff serving us was very pleasant n friendly. I ordered liver with roasted red onions and mash n so did my sister-in-law. When our food finally arrived, I was speechless to say the least as my sister in laws portion was like a tower n mine was flat as a pancake with one piece of liver. Whilst the other had at least 7 pieces on it. When I question the waiter, he was shocked but did not do anything with the comment whilst my sister in law gave me some of her portion.Then we asked where the onions were.He was kind to go back n asked the chef to Russel something up but still no liver!!However the food were very tasteful n we will definitely go back there again though saying that I had been there 11 years ago.Due to the shock I had forgotten to take any pictures!

Long wait to be served, 2 items we wanted to order were unavailable. Fish and chips was tiny, overcooked and very greasy! And burger was hard like it had been over microwaved. No check back given . Table cleared by very uninterested waitress, who was talking to customers drinking at the bar at the same time as clearing our plates. We weren't asked about desserts. We paid at the bar and didnt get asked if everything was ok. As we were going out of the door we were approached by Harvey/Harley who basically begged me to leave a review !!! Its probably best to check if the customer has enjoyed their visit before begging for a review!!!Will we return?? No chance!

Been coming to this pub for many years. Recently things have taken a turn for the worst. Staff are always friendly and courteous. The main issue appears to be the food. We have had waits of up to an hour. On this occasion on a Saturday evening, we booked for four and was surprised how quiet it was. Ordered our food. The problem this time was the quality! Fish and chips where tiny and nothing like displayed in the menu. I had the chicken, mushroom pie which was fine with a few chips and something that almost looked like veg. My wife's plate was the same. Standards have dropped with regards the food. What has happened?!! Wife does not want to return.. Ohh dear.

It's okay sums the Cock and Bell up to be honest.. The staff are friendly enough, the food is reasonably priced and in the most part arrives fairly swiftly.. (outside of very busy times)However, there's nothing particularly endearing about the place.. which is a shame, because it has the potential to be great.. Everywhere feels a little grubby (the toilets aren't great at all!) ..my husband said there's something on the toilet cubicle floor that was there over a week ago.. totally unacceptableYes, they're fairly busy, I understand that can be problematic for fine tuning your trade.. do the management put the effort in? It would be nice to see a front of house manager, keeping an eye on things standards wise and welcoming the customers.. Just feels like everyone that works there is just going through the motions.. Like I say, it's okay.. just a bit of a shame it's just that

We Entered the Cock and Bell on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Stood by the wait to be seated sign for 5 minutes, were asked politely to let waiters by, but we not acknowledged as being there.We gave up and went to the bar. The barman was friendly and found us a table, telling us that we could order drinks at the bar and someone would be round to clear the table and then take our food order.I ordered drinks, and double checked that someone would be round to take our order.We then sat there for 20 mins as we were completely ignored by two different staff members. Tables were cleared around us and eye contact made, but no attempt to engage with us was made.Needless to say we finished our drinks and left. This is possibly the worst service I have experienced recently and will put me off using the Cock and Bell again.This review has also been emailed to the pub directly.

We went here for a private party in the function room above the pub. The function room is very small and was extremely hot. On arriving at the pub when we finally got served we complained about the wine glass being dirty to be told the glass was “water marked, not dirty” it was in fact dirty cause we used a napkin to clean it. When we showed the bar man he was adamant even after we showed him that we had managed to clean it that it was water marks!!Considering it was a Saturday night and they had a private function the bar staff were very slow and seemed in interested in their customers. With the correct staff this pub could be brilliant.

Well what can I say. This is one of the best ones we have been to. I know we had to wait for our lunch, but there was 14 of us. Congrats to the staff for what they did. When a couple of us asked for extra meat on our Sunday roast. We got it. It was praised very reasonable. If all Greek kings could take what they have done. Well done

Went on a Monday for the quiz night with 7 others. Food was all good, reasonable value and served within a good time. Quiz good fun but you will be in fir a late night

Organised a 30th Birthday Meal here for 23 of us, Could not thank everybody enough for all they did for us, Really Friendly, Food was Lovely - Would highly recommend - Thank you to Harley, Dave, Al & Pete - you were all fantastic! Will be back again for sure.

Oh the wait, the understaffing leads to Hour hour and half wait for food two so called managers could not manager chicken coop. The food is not as bad as the wait and chaos. They want your money that it no love no care just it.

Visited the Cock and bell for Sunday lunch. Just my husband and myself. Got there a little early but our table was ready. The lady at the bar said someone would be over to take our drink order. We waited and waited and waited some more even though they came into our area several times. My husband had to go to the bar and prompt them. We finally ordered our drinks and food. The drinks came and I had ordered a water with my wine , no water, so had to ask again. My husband paid for extra pig in blankets these did not come with the meal and we had to ask again. The food was ok. I guess we caught them on a bad day.

Thanks Harley for your cheerful banter, made our visit all the more enjoyable. You kept smiling even when you were rushed off your feet with no help. Food was of a good standard in line with what you would expect for a chain pub although halloumi fries were particularly nice. The main meal deal made the bill a nice surprise when we settled up. Can't fault it for value.
