The staff here were great and friendly but the pub was let down by the food ... But the worst of it was long hairs in the food ...plus I got very very I'll after going here ...I hadn't eaten out for ages prior to this and after tests by my GP it was confirmed as campylobactor food poisoning...Look no one can be 100% sure it was this place but it was the ONE & ONLY pub/ restaurant or takeaway I'd visited in well over a month prior to this...I held off reviewing the pub till the tests on me were done ....I sincerely hope this was just a one off bad day as the staff were nice....I have to admit it has put me off going back or even eating out anywhere at the moment.

I hadn't been in the Wild man for about 40 years so it was a step back in time when I called in for a quick pint late on a Saturday morning. Sadly not the most scintillating pub - rather bland and cold. There was one table occupied in the restaurant, but I didn't see the food so can't comment on that. However, my impressions weren't good and I felt it needed some serious investment. I really don't know why if you were trying to entice people inside, you'd leave the car park looking so tatty. A load of broken pallets piled up for a possible bonfire don't really enhance the place.A least the beers was Adnams, so a plus point here, but I won't be rushing back.

Just popped into the wildman for a meal as haven't been able to go for some time and was delighted that the food, atmosphere and staff are all still excellent. We settled for the carvery and the beef was cooked to perfection, the pork was succulent and the vegetables were very hot and tasty. I had the gluten free Yorkshire and gravy which were very good. We decided not to have desert this time since the meal had satisfied our appetites but we could see there was a good selection being enjoyed by the families at the other tables. Was nice to be back so will be visiting again soon.

Decided to try tapas at this pub as it is not that common as a menu generally. Very impressed with the overall standard. The portion sizes were rather larger than Spanish tapas we are used to and the menu does warn it takes longer to prepare than the standard dishes - ours took about 30-40 mins. But the food was very good and authentic, but you only may need two dishes for a lunch, especially if you want desert after. The Spanish omelette was pretty big really and I was full with this, plus grilled halloumi and Russian salad. Very well cooked and tasty and always nice to have a different type of menu.

Happened on the Wild Man by chance, looking for somewhere to have a meal. The actual place looked ok, but was disappointed to be met by the staff who looked none too clean. We thought we would try the carvery, but oh dear, the meat was gristly, the veggies undercooked, Yorkshire pudding rubbery, overall wasn't very hot either. We will not be visiting again.

Ordered Tapas took 45 minutes to arrive. My wife had Hunters Chicken which arrived luke warm and appeared to be under cooked and her sister had a tasteless Vegan Chilli. Both meals were returned uneaten. In addition we had to share our table with a considerable number of Flies. Tapas was some of the most authentic and delicious food I've had for a long time. Burgers were packed with flavour. Batter on the fish we a little thick, but overall was an incredibly tasty lunch. All the food is freshly prepared, very tasty king prawns (which is always but of a risk of you're not sure!) Alioli was punchy with raw garlic, albondigas were delicious and patatas bravas had a nice heat to it. Definitely a world apart since it was simply a carvery serving coach parties! Will 100% come back.

Just visited my Mum in UK (from USA). Stayed with my friend in Sproughton, so decided to walk up to the Sproughton Wild Man for a few drinks. Marta is the landlady and she is amazing, so are the local folk who were in there. Marta is full of energy and fun. Made me feel right at home. On a Sunday while I was there, my friend and I experienced the all day carvery. I highly recommend this. There were three roast meats (beef, pork and turkey), batter puddings, roast potatoes, peas, carrots, roasted parsnips, grilled mushrooms, a medley of roasted peppers and lovely gravy. I had not had a Sunday dinner for a while and this really hit the spot!! Great service!! Marta was everywhere making her rounds making sure that everyone was doing OK. She was also bringing drinks to the tables and I saw her whiz in and out of the kitchen quite a few times to help in there. The carvery was constantly being filled, so food was lovely and hot and fresh. Prices really good too. Also, if you love karaoke, there is karaoke with Kim on the 2nd Friday of every month. I truly enjoyed myself there. Kim is just a great KJ (karaoke jockey) and really fun, friendly and energetic. She puts on a really good show. The best of luck with your business and I hope to be back soon!! Love ya Marta. Julie from USA.

No one came to take order so decided wasn't going to give them anymore of our money we would buy a cake and have at home instead, Im sure we would have had a dessert and another drink each. Arrived at our cottage for the weekend on Friday evening and thought we should try the local pub for dinner. Read the reviews and with those in mind set off up the road. At around 7pm on a Friday I would normally expect a local pub to be fairly busy and the restaurant, if any good, to be fully booked. Well, the bar had a handful of locals but the restaurant was literally empty. First sign that all was not well.. Anyway I ordered a halloumi, pepper and onion burger as I thought they couldn't really mess that up too badly! Husband went for fish and chips.. Ooops fish arrived looking pale in very thick batter with barely any fish within. This served with a few chips and peas.. Disappointing is an understatement! My halloumi burger was edible and judging by the fish was a good choice on my part!!

This was the first time I can recall visiting The Sproughton Wild Man, which had a good reputation for years [used to live in the "area"]. We booked a large table for a family gathering, with one exception we opted for a carvery with a split between Wild Man [2 meats] and Sunday carvery [3 meats]... only when it came to going up to the carvery were we told there was only Sunday Carvery, this only when asking how they differentiate. Information not given to us at time of ordering - there is a price differential between the two orders!

We had not visitied this pub to eat, for a number of years, but decided to try again. It was awful the last time we ate here and it has not improved much. Friendly welcome which was nice and quickly shown to our table. However, no matter how friendly and welcoming the staff are, if the food is dire, we won't be back. Starters of deep brie brie and homemade tomato soup were find apart from the tasteless stale bread roll. I had sausages and mash which , at best, could be described as OK but the yorkshire pud was so hard, I gave up trying to eat it. My partner had the veggie curry, chutney and naan bread, which after 3 mouthfuls, she left as it was , in her words, "revolting". There was no naan bread, it was just a dried up wholemeal pitta bread, maybe we were not supposed to notice. The "curry" was obviously re-heated and looked very dry looking, but a sort of film over the top of it. My partner could not eat it and left it all. The waitress walked by our tabel several times and must have noticed but nothing was said. We had no-one come to ask whether we needed anything else, or simply enquire as to whether the meal was OK. I daresay they knew what the answer would be. Although my partner was obviously hungry, we decided not to throw good money after bad and left with having no desserts. Waste of an hour and £40. Won't be back.

We stopped her for an evening meal, first impressions... There was a strong smell of grease when we walked in. Walked in the restaurant area, expecting to a member of staff, no one about and only two tables were taken, we decided to go to the bar, after waiting about 10 minutes to be served, a young girl asked what we wanted, we ordered a pint and a half of shandy, we needed something refreshing on a hot evening, she replied what? With a confused look. After repeating it again she got it, I mentioned we would like to eat she took us through to the dinning area, as I said it was empty apart from 2 tables, should has realised then. Chairs were stained, and there was dead flies on the window sill, we ordered the carvery, as the homemade cauliflower cheese sold it to me, we were told we would have to wait 10 minutes to hear it up, after 40 minutes we needed more drinks, I couldn't see any staff so I walked up to the bar, there was still no staff and the bar was empty, I returned to my seat still no staff about, the the young girl appeared I said that I wasn't happy having to look for staff on a Saturday Evening, was told the carvery wasn't ready!!! When it was ready we walked up I had the beef which h was awful, the vets were sitting in water, and as for the homemade cauliflower cheese, there wasn't any!! I cut in to my beef it was that tough that my vegetables flew across the table, I gave up I couldn't eat it, I then glanced out the window and there cat was actually opening his bowels in the garden, don't get me wrong I'm all for pet friendly pubs etc, I have 5 cats myself, but after a bad experience with the staff and the food a cat actually opening his bowels just finished it off, the bill came and we left, never ever again would we return, it was the most cheap nasty place I have ever come across.

We should have realised on our arrival as a family group on a Saturday night when the restaurant was empty there was a reason. An hour later there were only two people seated at another table. When we asked was it normally this quiet on a Saturday night we were told it was because they were so busy the night before!!! The lady who served us was pleasant, the food was disappointing. As was mentioned in a previous review the Lasagne was obviously reheated judging by it being burnt around the edge and rock hard and tasteless, the garlic bread just didn’t taste of garlic. Greasy, strange coloured chips with the steaks.

I would never go there again❗we went on a Sunday for the carvery which really wasn't anything special. My friend order a lamb steak that took ages to come out of the kitchen & when it did it was still flesh roar inside but the time they had rectified the lamb everyone had finished or didn't want to eat anymore. The door was open to the garden were my friend and I went outside to smoke and was told of for smoking in the garden. There were no signs to say you couldn't smoke in the garden. Which I might added was far from a garden more of a junk yard. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone at all.

Interior looked and felt dirty with fly remains on windowsill. We ordered lasagna with garlic bread. The food was delivered to our table by someone working in the kitchen without any comment - we were not asked if we wanted anything else. The ‘garlic bread’ was just a reheated ‘pain’ with what looked like margarine painted on it after it was cooked with no garlic to be seen or tasted. The lasagna was presented with little style just a rectangle cut from a larger bake that seemed to have been reheated several times as the pasta on the edges was hard and inedible. Never again!

The place looks run down, dated (not vintage), not the most welcoming of looking places looks like it’s on its last legs then the food I know it’s home cooking type food but that’s not excuses for undercooked food flavourless food and something I remember from school dinners or the local swimming pool cafe in the 90’s I suggest carrying on up the road to the begal a few miles away with amazing food vintage look and same sort of prices for food

Slow service when waiting for any food orders, apart from the carvery, meat tender and tasty most of the veg well undercooked and hard . Desserts small and overpriced.

We have visited the Peacock a number of times over the last year and have never been disappointed. We visited on a Saturday lunchtime with family and as usual got a lovely welcome from Jack and the team. I had the mackerel, followed by a superb risotto, my husband had the quail then the Halibut. We then shared the delightful petit fours, a nice alternative to a traditional dessert. All the food was beautifully presented and incredibly tasty, I would not be surprised if the Michelin people show an interest soon as the restaurant does deserve recognition.

Thankfully the refurb still left this as a real pub.I had been worried that it would end up with barrels with high chairs around them ,stupid prices and more wine than beer. This is a real pub, not something pretending to be one. Great staff and great beer at a reasonable price.
