Booking is essential. Staff are lovely. Service slow. Food very big portions. Good variety of gluten-free and other allergies options. The small bites are very large 4 pieces of garlic bread. Ploughman's freshly cut thick ham. Unfortunately, the gluten-free bread was very stale. Herb butter was really nice. Cheese was really nice Big portion of salad. The turkey sandwich fresh and full of filling.

Nice setting friendly welcome. Portions are generous, whatever other comments say. My partner ordered a number nibbles. These were each a serving bigger than normal sides. Cheesey chibata 4 large slices , pork belly cubes with apple sauce and Fries. Would have served the three of us. The ploughman's was really big with a good amount of thick cut ham cheddar pickles and salad. Nice size. The only downside was the stale gluten-free bread.the turkey and bacon chibata was really good. Service was a little slow, and getting the bill was not as simple as should have been

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the experience my party and I had at your restaurant for a birthday event on the 20th of October, 2024. We had a party of 12 guests for a Sunday lunch, and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. Ten of us ordered the beef roast, only to find that 7 of the meals were cold and undercooked. While I do appreciate rare beef, this was beyond what anyone at the table found acceptable. The manager acknowledged the issue and apologised, but unfortunately, the replacement meals that were brought out were also cold and now overcooked. To make matters worse, two of our guests did not receive their orders until after everyone else had finished their meals. One of our party members ultimately chose not to eat at all, as they did not want to dine alone after receiving their cold meal 30 minutes later than the rest of the group. While we were promptly refunded for the food and the birthday cake we had provided was served, the overall experience left a sour taste in our mouths. Unfortunately, due to this very poor experience, we have decided that we will not be returning to your establishment in the future. I hope this feedback is taken constructively and helps improve the service at your restaurant for future guests. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Update After nearly two weeks there still hasn’t been any apology or contact from the management at Jimmys farm regarding our complaint.

We visited around 12.30 on a Saturday afternoon in October. The restaurant was fully booked, but luckily there were tables available outside. You order at the bar, then the food is brought over. Really fast service, we had a lattes and shared Cheddar Straws £5.50, Olives £4, and Pork Belly Bites with Apple Sauce £6.50. (Pictured) The lattes were £4.45 each, what a rip off! Small and not that great. Clearly just from a basic coffee machine! If you wanted to add a syrup, that would be an additional £1.50! Insane! Most coffee shops charge an extra 50p for syrup. Cheddar Straws were great and still warm. You get 3 with a pot of mustard pickle. Olives were great, they included garlic and sun-dried tomato. Large portion, we weren’t given cocktail sticks though. The pork belly with apple sauce was delicious. Although made me wonder if it was a pig from the farm. I couldn’t see sausage rolls on the menu, but was told they were sold out. A friendly host and great waitresses and waiters. I’d visit again for food, but not for an over priced machine latte! I’d recommend booking 😊 Oh and if your an annual pass holder for the farm, you get 10% off in here.

We enjoyed a later lunch after visiting the wildlife park. We hadn’t booked in advance and noted that a sign read they were fully booked for indoor seating however it was a lovely sunny day so we got a table outside and ordered from the bar. Drinks and food service was prompt which was surprising given how busy they were. We ordered the ploughman’s and sides of pork belly bites and honey and mustard sausages. The food was excellent. All elements were of top quality and very reasonable prices.

Went for lunch. Ordered at 1:30pm. By 2:00pm nothing had come so we checked, and were assured it would be on the way soon. By 2:15pm half of the food arrived. By 2:30pm the rest had still not arrived, so went to find out what had happened. It came 10 mins later but was missing ribs. Pointed out ribs were missing, and some then came out but not in the bbq sauce and fridge cold in the middle while warm on the outside, like they’d been placed briefly on a grill to warm up. One of the portions of fries had a hair in it. Really extremely disappointing. Told the staff, and received a refund and apologies but well below par. Won’t be going back. Just hoping I don’t get food poisoning from the cold-in-the-middle ribs.

Booked a table in advance as recommended for 1pm. Got seated quickly, restaurant didn’t look too busy, certainly a fair few empty tables. No one had been to get drinks orders after 20 mins so had to go find one of the waiting staff. We placed food order at the same time. After waiting a further 40 minutes had to ask another member of staff if our food was nearly ready. They checked for us and said it was on its way. In total it was 80mins from sitting down till it finally arrived. When the food arrived it wasn’t worth the wait. The burger was missing all its salad and pickles with no sauce, literally just burger and cheese. The burger patty was dry and overcooked. The pork medley was tasteless and overcooked, almost inedible, the sausages went straight to the dog. No one asked how the food was, just apologised for the wait. On departure was asked how the food was said it wasn’t any good. They agreed and refunded the price of the food. This really was one of the most abysmal meal experiences we’ve ever had. If they are short staffed they need to stop taking orders.

First class menu always good balanced food. The children’s meal was good value a portion size large. I had lamb kofta and my husband had BBQ ribs both off the special board both were very good . I can recommend the burgers too. I suggest booking may be advisable at busy times. I would have given 5 stars but although the waitresses were excellent the delivery of both the drinks and food was 45 minutes. It was a busy day but earlier drinks would have been very welcome as well as some idea how long we were expected to wait would have helped with managing children’s expectations. Toilets were clean.

The food was nice and we were seated quickly and order taken reasonably quickly. Food was nice and came out hot, not fast but I understand it’s freshly cooked so I don’t have a problem with that. Although staff are extremely friendly we didn’t see anyone after we had our meals, in the end we had to go up and pay as had sat there for over 20 mins waiting for plates to be collected. We were going to get dessert but time was limited for us so we had to skip it but would have ordered and got another drink if only someone had come along. I get it’s busy but it was only a Monday, I think maybe wasn’t expecting as many customers.

I've heard so much about this restaurant over the years so when I finally took a trip to the farm I thought it would be nice to stop in for breakfast. OK, yes everything is a little pricey. But if that's the price for sustainable food done right I'm all in. 2 full Englishes and 2 cherry hot chocolates came to about £35. No complaints about quality as it was amazing. I was cheeky and asked for some black pudding (wasn't included the small breakfast) and staff said it was no trouble. All in all, really can't complain about anything. If price is concerning you don't worry, as the quality is as good.

We visited Jimmys Farm last weekend as predominantly we wanted to buy an Animal Experience gift for a family member. Could of bought online, but thought we go and check it out first and eat lunch! The Barn Restaurant is a lovely venue and all staff were friendly and attentive. As we went on a Sunday, the menu was reduced due to them serving a Roast Dinner. I had the Fish, Chips & Peas. It was lovely although (I think) there was possibly Tumeric in the batter which I did not appreciate. I would of preferred just a good old plain batter taste wise, but the fish was still good. My husband enjoyed his Vege Burger and was happy with the portion size. I had the Crème Brûlée for dessert which was not the best unfortunately as I could of poured it out the cup which is not good. It was lovely tasting, but not the right consistency sadly. We then visited the Farm Shop which again we enjoyed. Purchased some very tasty Rockstar Chedder Cheese and a Spinach, Feta & Onion Tart which my husband enjoyed very much for his lunch the next day. We’ll definitely return to visit the animals when we go back to enjoy the Animal Experience and we’re looking forward to it!

The food was exceptional, the best breakfast I’ve had for a while but what really let the whole experience down was the service. Despite it not being very busy at all, they had plenty of staff on but were so slow! 15 mins to take our drinks order, so we ordered food at the same time. Once the food came out nobody checked back to make sure all was ok, we then had to ask for the plates to be cleared and then had to ask twice for the bill. Booked the Barn for Mother's Day lunch. Firstly, we were disappointed with the set menu as only 1 vegetarian dish - butternut squash with couscous and broccoli - was offered. The couscous was dry and the broccoli only kissed the water. My grandson, who is usually not fussy, said that was one of the worst vegetarian dishes he ever had. We ordered 2 beef which arrived without Yorkshires. We mentioned this but nothing was done. The beef was very chewy. The meat on the lamb dish was chewy and the veg was over cooked. On a positive note, the carrots and parsnips were very tasty and the kids burger and chips were very nice. After that disappointment we were left hungry and then had to wait 30 minutes for our deserts. We very much looked forward to our lunch. BUT... . We will visit the farm again. The kids loved their day and seeing all the animals despite the rain. The family however is in agreement that we will take a picnic the next time. Nobody wants to revisit the restaurant!

We were seated immediately by the manager?? Didn't have long for wait for a young man to take our order, a young lady bought the drinks. I asked for a glass of water, which didn't arrive. Our hot chocolates and food were bought to us by the manager and the young lady, about 15-20 mins later, it looked really nice. 2 burgers in a bun, one was gf, portion of fries in a little tub and salad garnish. Could have done with the drinks coming earlier, as they got cold as we were eating before the food was completely cold. However, both mine and my Husbands burgers were nearly cold, but the chips were hot. My daughter had a fish finger sandwich which was quite large. She asked him for some extra tartare and again I asked for my water, which I told him I'd ask for already. We received neither of these. We couldn't be bothered to ask again. Also we know we should have complained about the burgers being nearly cold, but were time constrained as we hadn't finished looking around and I wanted to leave at 3pm, to make sure I wasn't driving through the horrendous A!4 roadworks in the dark. It was a grey dismal day, so knew it was going to get dark early, which it did. The park itself is really nice, but I have to disagree on them saying its the biggest Polar Bear enclosure in the UK. It isn't the one at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park is much bigger.

We went to Jimmy's restaurant and while the food was tasty, how it got to us was shambolic. I understand that when things are busy, standards can slip, but I seriously question the service standards. 15 min to order, 10.min food sat on pass with chef ringing for order, 5 min, half table cleared and left before we could order dessert. 1 dessert, 10.min later the other 3. I'm sorry, but it seemed not just our table but others seemed to face the same issues. Farm and zoo staff and place fab, restaurant...staff need training, not just to serve but customer interaction.

I cannot recommend this hidden gem highly enough! We were looking for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning dog walk and Jimmy's farm restaurant was suggested. We phoned ahead and were informed that breakfast was served until 11.30 am and that dogs were most welcome. Upon arrival we chose to sit on one of the many tables outside as it was so warm and we had 3 dogs. Upon going inside to find menus etc we were told that if we preferred we could sit inside, dogs were welcome. We remained outside however, and placed our orders, 3 x full English, pot of tea, coffees and we asked for some tap water as it was so warm after our walk. A!most instantly three glasses of the coldest water arrived, complete with lemon and environmentally friendly straws. These were followed almost immediately by the hot drinks and then the food. And what a plateful! 2 farm pork sausages, farm bacon, black pudding, tomato, beans, mushrooms, 2 fried eggs and toast. It was absolutely delicious and there was so much of it and very reasonably priced at £12.95 considering it contained such fresh, locally sourced homemade produce. The staff were welcoming, happy and polite and as attentive as if we had been sitting inside. The barn that the restaurant is situated in has been beautifully converted and is bright and spacious and you don't have to pay to enter the farm to use the restaurant. The toilets are amazing, very clean and tastefully decorated. We will most definitely be back and make this one of our weekend dog walking routes. There are public footpaths from Pinewood that lead right in to the farm car park so no need to go on the road at all. Perfect!

Visited the farm today. We ordered Lamb Chops for lunch. It was served after 5 minutes! There was nothing on the plate which was fresh. Everything was pre-cooked. The chops were difficult to cut and felt like rubber. They were definitely a couple of days old and were microwaved. There was a large Yorkshire pudding which felt like wood and cold. The squashed vegetables and the chops were floating in watery gravy. Could not eat any of it. Very disappointing and ruined a nice day out.

The roast lunch was an absolute disgrace. Cold mashed swede, cold and floppy carrots, the parsnips were unedible, there was more fat on the pork than meat, leeks that were overcooked with what seemed to look like mustard seed mixed in, gravy that tasted bloody awful and the largest air filled Yorkshire pudding that was soggy. There is no doubt about it, me and my partner were served the scraggy ends of the day. When I complained there was no offer of a refund or discount. Will not be eating there again.

As a family we booked Jimmys for a supposedly lovely Mother’s Day treat. With the current climate we have cut down going out for meals and it really is a treat to get all 6 of us together for a meal out. We thought Jimmys would be perfect, we’ve been before & loved it in the past and it’s a well known farm so you expect good food right? Nope! Our table was booked at 17:45 and we’d put a special request on the booking to be put in a corner or to the side somewhere out of the way as I have an autistic younger sister. We got there bang on time and were immediately in a queue, they have a foyer area with 2 sofas and both were occupied with 2 different families, both looking rather distressed, we had another family in front of us and it was very crowded so with having an autistic sister we took it in turns standing in queue and going outside to get some space. We wouldn’t have minded waiting however the shocking part was no one even spoke to us or told us they’d be a wait. No one came to the door at all or even looked at everyone waiting! If we’d been acknowledged, at least greeted and offered drinks we wouldn’t have minded but we waited 45 minutes stood at the door and 30 minutes in that time before the manager even asked for our booking name. The family in front of us were told that customers just weren’t leaving however after myself working as a manager in a busy Suffolk pub for 2 years on busy shifts when tables were rebooked we simply told the table that we require the table back as it is rebooked! To not even be acknowledged for 30 minutes was absolutely shocking! The one good part was when we were finally spoken to the manager did say we’d be sat in the bottom of the restaurant out of the way so we were glad that he’d taken into consideration about my sisters special needs. However when we were finally sat we were in the top area by a load of screaming kids which really wasn’t ideal especially when he said we’d be in the bottom area but by that point we didn’t care. We did care however that 2 of us were sat on stools, not even actual chairs! Obviously we were already pretty annoyed but we were celebrating our mum and fortunately had lots to talk about and we also knew at least the food would be good right? We ordered drinks and food within 10 mins of being sat and the girl serving was lovely we cannot fault her service at all, of course we were disappointed to find out the lamb had ran out but we joked in queue that would probably happen so we ordered 3x pork roast, 2x beef roast and my younger sister just had a meatless roast. As we waited we overheard the table behind making a complaint to the poor girl, they complained they’d waited 1.5hours for their food, their beef was fatty and they weren’t checked on at all, the waitress said the head chef had only just started that week and they’ve been going through a string of chefs recently and that it wasn’t the first complaint they’d had today. Not really ideal to have overheard after waiting 45 mins in queue. The food came out and we couldn’t quite believe it, I had to take pictures of the pork or serious lack of, it was entirely inedible, we were given one slice and it was pure fat, with not even a quarter having actual pork on it and that itself was impossible to cut, flavourless and chewy was an understatement. It was vile. We hadn’t even begun eating when my brother got up and told the manager we literally cannot eat that food. He was very flustered but came over and told us that all the pork would be like that as it’s middle reared which means it’s usually fatty but absolutely no chance would you serve that, surely you’d just say there’s no pork on because it wasn’t even edible it was literally a slab of fat. He also told us he was going to “surprise” us at the end by giving all of our food for free and getting us some desserts to apologise for the wait. Obviously made us feel a bit better but I think we would have had to refuse to pay for that anyway. My dad and brother said their beef was chewy and ridiculously thinly cut. We ended up eating 4 potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding for our dinner as the vegetables were literally just 3 leaves of kale which was too stringy and inedible too. At least the potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were nice but really quite laughable. Onto dessert, we just wanted to go home by this point but we were still hungry so it was either dessert or a McDonald’s on the way home to try fill us up a tad, we were all still starving but only 4 of us had desserts, I had a dry chocolate brownie, my mum and sister had the lemon meringue which they did enjoy and my dad had the Bakewell tart which he also enjoyed. The bill came out and we had been charged for the desserts which was annoying as we’d been told we’d get them for free but by that point we just wanted to go home, we were still hungry but for a meal that we thought would cost us around £180-200 for 6 of us we only paid £47 (was £57 but the £10 deposit from booking was taken off at the end) and we couldn’t be bothered to wait any longer. Really disappointing, really shocking, inedible and quite frankly vile food.

I booked a table for four in the restaurant, when we got there we were shown to our table, another group sat down a few minutes later near us, and we're served before us. When we were served, two of us ordered pulled pork mushrooms and macaroni, one ordered pork and apple burger, and one spare ribs. The the two macaronis had very little pulled pork and mushrooms, very poor. The pork burger was underdone and the ribs had very little meat on them, also both very poor. Then to make it worse I was charged over £8 service charge they have the cheek to add it to the bill. So overall poor service, poor food, to expensive, and service charge should be optional. I have been here before and it's been ok but will never go to Jimmy's farm again very disappointed. Also i will never recommend the restaurant to anybody in the future.

I requested for the burger to be cooked 'well done' however it was Luke warm when served, with half of the burger rare and a very soggy bun (the top half had soaked up a fair amount of blood/moisture from the burger) This wasn't the only problem with it, it had a strange taste as did the children's burger (I know that the produced is rare breed so affects the taste, but this was an un- enjoyable flavour) which my daughter refused to eat after a couple of bites. My other daughters childrens sausage and mash was also a let down. The sausages looked anemic! And according to my daughter tasted chewy/rubbery - another uneaten meal. My husband enjoyed his pulled pork burger, as did my son with his fish and chips. I could not fault the service, the waiting staff are brilliant but ultimately you come for the food, which was well below par.

Extremely expensive and poor quality. Kids burger and chips was £7. Adults burger chips and "slaw" was £15. When it came up, the burger and chips on both servings was exactly the same other than a tables spoon of coleslaw. £8 for coleslaw! Added to the fact the chips were over salted and the burgers dry and over cooked I definitely won't be returning.

I was looking forward to lunch here with my wife as we had visited several times before with family and always had a great time. The menu is very limited, not that is an issue if there is variety and those dishes are good.As a starter the pork scratchings at 3.95 are tasty but even for 2 of us there were maybe 2-3 pieces each, seriously make it a decent size portion. We both decided on the fish and chips with peas. (Which if you do not eat pork is the only dish for you). At 13.95 it is mid-range price wise I would say but the quality was not good. The fish itself was a "thin" piece of cod and the batter was crisp only on the upper side as if it had been sitting for a while in an oven or other keep hot device. The chips, again this can be time of year dependant but it was mid-late September so no excuse, were made of small potatoes, these do not "chip" well and were not only poor aesthetically but also in enjoyment to eat.

We pre-booked 3 adults and paid £30 deposit, then added 1 child on the day. Really looked forward to Roast Beef but when it came the meat was carved too thick, like boot leather, was tough and one portion was very gristly. Vegetables were under cooked and roast potatoes very hard. One plate had no carrots st all. The cutlery provided is old and knives not sharp, so almost impossible to cut meat or potatoes. Huge Yorkshire puddings cooked ok, but everything was served cold. Had to ask 3x for the mustard - but place not full and staff not busy, just inattentive.

We have visited the Peacock a number of times over the last year and have never been disappointed. We visited on a Saturday lunchtime with family and as usual got a lovely welcome from Jack and the team. I had the mackerel, followed by a superb risotto, my husband had the quail then the Halibut. We then shared the delightful petit fours, a nice alternative to a traditional dessert. All the food was beautifully presented and incredibly tasty, I would not be surprised if the Michelin people show an interest soon as the restaurant does deserve recognition.
