Went with hubby for the Friday deal - buy 1 burger & get the other one free.:Really don't bother, my choice of a double cheese burger was so unbelievably greasy - yuk!!No refund offered, probably because of the Friday deal.Would never choose the burger option again.When we left I went straight to McDonald's & enjoyed a yummy NON GREASY double cheese burger. Leave the burger options alone at The Pommel in Hemel Hempstead!!

Check out my other reviews to see we always leave an honest opinion.Arrived at 5-30pm Saturday evening on my way from wales to stansted to collect my daughter from the airport. Was dreading going in thinking it would be packed full and a nightmare. Pleasantly surprised to see even though it was quite full it wasn’t mental in there and found a table with ease. Ordered my drinks and food and the lady who served me told me to sit down and she would bring my drink over to me and within minutes she did. Food arrived shortly afterwards and was very tasty and well cooked with plenty of it. People checked to make sure everything was. Ok and did I need anything else. Very attentive staff. I was in and out within half an hour or so which was great for me as I needed to get to the airport and I was concerned that I would be held up as I also had a five hour drive back to wales afterwards but no issues at all.

I just wanted to leave this review as a massive thank you and to let everybody know how grateful I am and how amazing the staff at The Pommel horse are. I visited with my family on Bank holiday Monday (31st May) and had a lovely time but it wasn’t until I’d got home that I had lost quite a large amount of cash. I began to feel sick and called the restaurant straight away and spoke to the manager Jamie who promised me he would have a look around where we sitting and the surrounding areas and to my amazement he then called me back 10 mins later and told me he had found it and every single bit of it was still there. I have had my fair share of bad luck recently but this has gone a long way to restore my faith in humanity and the way it was dealt with whilst trying to run what was a busy but very well organised and well run restaurant was nothing short of outstanding so hats off to you Jamie and your team we will definitely be coming back and I hope you and all your efforts are truly noticed and appreciated. Thanks again

We came in for dinner as a family. We had a lovely meal, food was great, and the staff were so helpful. Would definitely recommend the pommel horse, we always have great service here.

Me and my partner visited here last night and was very impressed by how clean and clear all the new instructions and guidelines were explained to us upon our arrival. The food was great and the service was amazing it really made our first visit out for a meal in a long time very enjoyable and we will definitely be returning.

What a wonderful morning we had visiting Santa at the Pommel horse on Sunday, staff were very friendly, the breakfast was delicious and the kids had a lovely chat with Santa

We recently visited for a family meal, we were welcomed by the manger Elise, it was a birthday meal and she really went above and beyond to make our meal special, which at the moment is more important than ever. Our food was lovely and the staff were so nice, I’d highly recommend the pommel horse for your birthday/special occasion.

Popped into the pommel for a quick bite to eat with my partner. Was greeted by a very welcoming and friendly young lady. Was shown to our table and ordered food which came out quickly. The food was really tasty and hit the spot. The manager came over to do a check back and had a nice chat with her which made us both feel welcome. Was nice to see the pub very much safety conscious in regards to covid and the toilets were spotless. I would recommend this place to anyone and will be back again soon. Keep up the good work. From the moment we was greeted we were advised of the Covid Safety measure in place at the doorFood is great value for money, Big portions, Great selection of drinks available including cocktails. What really makes this place great though is the staff they are very friendly, Helpful.There can be a wait for the drinks I have noticed when ordering via the app.On my second visit I was made to feel very welcome by the bar staff, Ben always goes out of his way to say Hello, will always stop by to greet myself and my partner very very friendly!

It’s a good place for an easy family meal. Cheap and cheerful. They couldn’t find our booking so put us in the bar area. Nothing was cleaned/ sanitised, No vinegar, mayo and tomato sauce in little pots but 8 of us with drinks was only £55. Good portions. Bargain

Don’t get me wrong the food is ok. And so is the drink selections The staff are friendly but there’s not really enough staff here to keep up with cleaning after guests as they leave and while making sure everyone is getting served and not waiting. Credit to the staff though.. they are all working hard. This place is good for grabbing quick food.

Amazing service. Everyone was super friendly, specially due to the current situation, all the staff were so welcoming! Specially when taking kids with you, they made sure all children feel welcome! Such lovely food as well. Everything was great, I quote my son said the food was “delicious” his favourite part was the ice cream! All round an amazing time out!!!My son had a blast at the pommel horse!!

Been here a few times and always need to que for ages as not enough staff ....should have seperate staff serving food and seperate staff serving people who are there just for drinks further up the bar away from the food side as this is a put off from returning ... i dont want to wait for 5 people to order 5 different tables of food and their drinks on top when i just want to get two drinks !!! ....The place has facilities for seperate ordering but i have never seen it in use ... its absolutley mad !!!! On the way into the complex the car park was extremely bad and if not cement sand just dumped there it was tons of litter litraly everywhere... really looks bad ....On the way in to the establishment the outside seating area of the Pommel looked filthy ...the floor areas could do with a proper jet wash and tables all burnt from fags as no ashtrays are supplied on the tables so they are thrown on the floor instead or put out on the tables ...tables also need a good wash down with hot soap and water .... A bit of attention to detail makes all the difference ... Staff are always rushed off their feet and are helpful ....

Had to review today as we have never had a bad meal here. There is alot of choice on the menu and the food is plentiful and tasty. Staff are welcoming and helpful, we met Ben today who we hadn’t met before and he was extremely friendly and made our overall experience that little bit better - thank you Ben!! We highly recommend a meal here, doubt you’d be disappointed.

We've recently visited here for my brothers birthday dinner, we are a large family (5 adults 3 children and 2 babies). We were very well looked after by a waiter called Ben he was friendly, helpful and all in a a very happy go lucky guy. There was also a waitress who was smiley and friendly but we didn't manage to get her name.Considering most places were fully booked we expected to have long waits for food and drink but this wasn't the case at all the food was lovely and served promptly. Would definately recommend a visit.

First time I went on the weekend with friends absolutely fantastic so I returned for a meal on Monday with kids. Great atmosphere for friends and family alike. Elise the GM went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our time. Definitely will return delightful.

I don’t think I have ever eaten anything this poor in my life-my partners chicken new Yorker looked like it had been in the microwave for an hour too long-which she didn’t eat-my roast beef dinner was un-edible the Guinness was rank-so now we will have to go somewhere else and pay again to eat something as we are both still hungry

Was pleasantly surprised, the manager met me at the door, acknowledged my booking and showed me to my table. He explained the one way system and told me about the app that was available for me to use if I would prefer not to order at the bar. At the bar I was served by a very polite and friendly member of the team who patiently took my kids fussy order. Service was really quick, the waitress who brought the food out was very cheerful and happy to help. Food came quick and was of good quality. I decided to order dessert from the app, the dessert came quicker than it took to actually connect to the wifi.Overall excellent service. If only the wifi was up to the same standard as the food and service.

Shame this place didn’t turn out better, under staffed always, food left on tables never cleared, also due to the type of people eating most of the time there, kids running around same people most of the issues are the customers not the place or staff .

It’s a nice little pub , if your looking to have a few drinks and a meal it’s perfect but if your looking for fine dinning or country pub style then no it’s not for yoy

Very good pub food, considering it's a pub. Staff are friendly, work as fast and hard as they can to serve everyone waiting. However, was very disappointed when we visited last evening to be sat next to very disruptive parents that let their children run around with no shoes and socks on. One little boy was sick in front of a family member whilst eating dinner, throwing food around, tipping drink and salt everywhere and managers didn't do much about it. Parents didn't care, nor did staff unfortunately.

Where to start???80% of seating ripped or bear foam, food splatters inside the lamp shades above your head,lampshad hanging scew wiff or not atall. Lets now move to the food (if you coud call it that?), luke warm, tough, wrong sauces delivered but put all over main meal already, mash potato bloody hell better if they had stamped all over it to get lumps out. Chicken dry as sand, to sum up i dont think i will be eating there again. Drinks served in whatever glass comes to hand dirty or not. Bad experience understatement. DONT TAKE FRIENDS OR RELATIVES IF YOU WANT THEM TO SPEAK TO YOU AGAIN.

Slightly disappointed...chose wings deal 3 for 12 ...its sauce poured over cooked wings not marinated although still tasted nice.Very disappointed with portions of chips for £2.99 your better off walking over to MD's and getting a small portion for that money ! Oh I'm not 100% sure there nachos delivery was in ...they seem to frying rap bread is ok ? See photos overall staff friendly but need better food presentation ....will visit again but will stick to burgers next time !

Since the menu has changed it ceases to be a value for money restaurant but an expensive eat out with little variation and choice except burgers and fried food. Except for breakfast and senior menu (apparently seniors do not eat at weekends)! I would not pay the exhorbitant menu prices.

This was my first time at the Pommel Horse Hemel Hempstead, I visited with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. We had such a good time, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Rosie and Jamie in particular went out of their to make sure we were happy, they brought a cake out for us (Jamie you have such a lovely singing voice!)

Marvellous, ordered a pepperoni pizza came out in 10 minutes and i rather enjoyed it. Also love the new app

I received great service from Jamie at the pommel horse over the weekend. Popped in for a family roast - the food was what you’d expect for 2 roasts for £13. However the standard of service was top notch. Jamie was friendly, pleasant and knowledgeable. I have an extremely fussy child with autism and he made sure our order catered to this. He was also very engaging and understanding with my child who now want to go back to the pommel horse every week - just to see Jamie. Please pass on my thanks to Jamie.

The food was great, great company and great people that make the pommel worth going to recommend to any one that’s up for a nice evening with lovely company

Everytime I come here with my other half. I'm always greeted with a smile and our drinks ready. They know us to the point of nothing needs to be said. I am very confused with the bad reviews here. Always greeted by such a great atmosphere and even when busy, killian makes sure to come say hey and it makes us feel even happier to come. If your ever unsure, I'd advise you come and give it a go before you think anything bad of the place. I love it here! Cant wait till my next visit.

As normal, came in after a long stretch of not being here. Everyone makes me feel so welcome and the brilliant killian makes me feel even more welcome. The bar staff always greet with a smile and a cheeky smile (makes the visit more fun) also want to say, I don't understand why people give this place a bad review. It's super busy right now and everyone is enjoying such a great time!

The food was good. If you want to have hot sauce ,be careful is seriously hot. I love you have sweet potato fries. Drinks are amazing. Friendly staff. In total is a petfect place to take -time with friends or with family because they are child friendly.

As a regular customer I was very disappointed by this visit. When I ordered my food I asked for Halloumi and chips a meal I had before asked to change the peas for mushrooms and was told no they couldn't do that even though the last few times I had had this meal it hadn't been a problem. Then when the meal came out it was small just 12 chips although the chips were nice there was not enough of them and I left still feeling hungry. Usually the staff are very friendly but ob this visit the girl who served didn't seem to want to be there. Whis spoiled what was suppose to be a nice relaxing meal with my eldest son

i went here with my family 3 adults 2 children all had the roast dinner. myself i am vegetarian so picked the suitable for vegetarian option all arrived in good time and looked good unfortunately was let down by the fact that someone in the kitchen decided to put meat gravy over my vegetarian dinner i complained and it was taken away for replacement the rest of the group continued to eat thier dinner with me sitting there with nothing they had finished by the time i got mine and it was dry and horrible. i am a vegetarian by my choice i feal insulted that my choice was not respected on this occasion

We had our christening reception here. The staff were very friendly,v welcoming and helpful. We ordered the platters which were delicious. Overall a fantastic experience.

We visited on sunday, have never been here before. The food was absolutely beautiful, we really enjoyed it. However the restaurant seemed to lack an atmosphere and it felt quite rundown and tired. The decoration is dark and it adds to the dark dingy, tired feel. Some of the chairs looked tatty and it felt as though we were in an old pub. All this said ... but the food was still amazing

I visited on Bank Holiday Monday so was expecting it to be busy, however the service I received was beyond expected! Was served at the bar by Killian who was lovely, only to be later greeted by a waitress, who I think was called Hannah who went above and beyond to make sure our visit was exceptional. She really made an effort to make our time there special and was lovely and chatty, my 3 kids didn’t want her to leave the table! A shame I wasn’t able to leave a tip as she seemed to be clearing all the tables and giving out orders all by herself whilst still being positive towards all of us; it was really appreciated as you could tell she was very busy! Would definitely recommend eating here as the staff were all lovely and food was amazing. Great deals for kids meals and even a magician coming round to entertain the kids!

We arrived with friends for a table that we had booked specifically as two of us have walking disabilities. On arrival we were informed that no such booking had been made, even though this was made by the manager while we were there earlier in the week. The lady who was obviously in charge said that she would talk to us but just continued to serve customers and eventually disappeared into the kitchen. A young man called Nathan was clearly embarrassed tried to help and we eventually found a suitable table. The lady in charge did not attempt to see us at all and were offered a bottle of wine by Nathan which we accepted. The meal was very good but we did leave feeling let down. This lady in charge obviously needs training but on a lighter note praise should be given to Nathan.

Decided to treat the grandkids to Sunday lunch, so glad I did. This place is usually busy, but Adel got us a nice booth and let the kids choose what to watch on the TV. Food came out very quickly by 2 lovely girls, sorry didn't get there names. Food and service was really good, mini manias went down a treat. Deffo come again and will spread the word bout great service. Well done guys

Food was burnt, when this was mentioned and show to a member of staff, she just said she was “sorry” no offer of fresh food.

Had a gorgeous meal at the pommel horse in Hemel Hempstead last week, no problems what’s so ever! The very polite Tanya was incredibly helpful and I can’t thank her enough for helping us out with types of wines we would like, 10/10 for good services!!

Visited on 31/07/19 for a meal with my partner. Atmosphere is lovely, and the service we received from the manager (she was the only one not wearing uniform so I guess she's a manager) Adel was brilliant. I wanted to order the fish and chips but without the chips, and was told that I could have a salad instead of the chips if I wanted, which actually ended up being cheaper. The food was very nice.

I visited the restaurant today and was not happy with the device and food at all. The manager was very rude and all the staff looked very miserable and as if they didn't want to be there. Food was disgusting as well as the staff attitude. The food could have been cooked properly, staff friendliness need to seriously improve especially the manager very disappointed with her attitude and all staff need retraining really unhappy and looking miserable. Food was disgusting, onion bhaji tasted like washing up liquid, the curry was like water, chicken had lots of bones, kids corn on the cobs were dry and hard to eat. The drinks were disgusting too they tasted like dirty dishwater so we asked the server to change them she did it no problem but the second time still tasted horrible so we asked her to change them and the manager got funny saying she just changed them, double checked, triple checked and said they don't need to be changed but Tanya who served me said they needed to be changed. In the end they changed them but still tasted horrible. I'm really not happy about this experience especially when I've eaten here numerous of times with my mates and family. It wasn't a good experience at all and my two autistic brothers were very upset with this and I'm not happy about this.

Wow was i impressed with my whole experience, the food was lovely and a bargain. Staff were freindly and well trained. Even though it was busy they all had smiles on their faces and were getting the job done. Will definitely be returning.

Disgusting outside space needs cleaning properly and staff wandering around behind the bar wearing non uniform as they are not on shift so surely should not be there and kitchen staff wandering in and out of kitchen to outside to have a smoke

The food was sent to the table cold l, the pudding took 20 minutes to arrive free my children had received theirs and was told by staff that nothing was organised for today and they were not sure what food went with the Sunday chicken roast dinner.

Come back after not being here for a little while. My family wanted to treat me so I thought id come with them again. As usual, always met with a smile and Killian always makes sure to say hey and see how we were. Can't understand what people have said about Killian, never met a nicer guy. Always looking forward to the grub too

Visited with a friend on Saturday and after a feeling a bit low recently I have to say I haven't enjoyed myself like that in a long time. Food was great Steak was cooked perfectly and the barman Jamie had me in stitches with some stories and his quick witted banter and it was just a lovely day out which was just what the doctor ordered so thank you very much and I'll be visiting again very soon

Went in for a meal before seeing a film..every spare table had food and rubbish all around it. Walked straight back out.

First visit to this restaurant, food quality is similar to the harvester which wasn't to bad to be honest.

We came in today after hearing from one of the bar staffs from a previous visit that they started doing a special with main meals. 2 for 12 pound on big plates is such a good bargain! So couldn't pass it up, many thanks to the staff in all areas on there shift today. Looked busy and understaffed but we got served quickly and efficiently! Kill bill and shona did a great job today! Bravo
