Queen of the Iceni in South Norfolk

Horrible. the meat looks like it could have come from a dog or at least a decendent of a dog. The breakfast is usually quite good in weatherspoons, but not queen of Iceni. It looks like something from a bin. The only time I can accept all of this is for a drink after a Norwich game.

Whilst walking around Norwich we were looking for spots to have dinner. This placed looked promising. Sadly we were disappointed overall. I had the noodle soup with chicken, which was good. My husband ordered the steak, medium rare. It was so thin there was no other possibilities other than rare or anaemically well done. The chips ( fries) were cold . Not worth it. Browse around a bit more.

We tried to go for drinks however they refused us service because they discriminated against our disabled friend who they said was too drunk to serve which is discrimination on her speech and impediment considering our friend had no alcohol all evening. The whole time I was speaking to the member of staff he never gave me any eye contact but was looking at the member of our party. Lack of costumer service and consideration. Extremely rude and disrespectful.

Lovely food which was good value, and staff were friendly and helpful. Some of the tables hadn't been cleaned and still had plates on the table think they were short of staff.

We arrived at 6pm, prompt. We were welcomed by a number of staff (given our social status) and seated in the bay window. Our drinks and food arrived quickly, an exquisite dining experience. Ample mayonnaise was provided by John. Much more favourable clientele than at Brundall white heron, a local pub. We will be visiting again.

It was busy to be fair but by 7.30pm all drinks were being served tonight 6th sept in plastic glasses .!! So disappointing on our leaving do Surely more staff could be pointed to pot wash And the price is the same . Shameful

Well what can I say about this place other than its a complete dump. Came here for lunch with family after lovely morning in Mulligans playing Electric Darts and American Pool. Place was about half full on Monday bank Holiday. Lot of tables had dirty glasses or plates on them, went to sit down twice and tables were dirty and sticky. Finally found somewhere to sit. Ordered at the bar, staff not particularly happy and very blunt. Went and sat down. Food arrived and was literally chucked on the table by a very sweaty and fed up looking staff member. Food honestly was dreadful, absolutely bare basics, no real care in how it was presented, tasted dry and gave two people in our patty indigestion and had to leave it. Cutlery was dirty, had to wipe them. Now I know it's cheap and people might say "well what do you expect for £6.49" but I've been in cafes cheaper and food was delicious, served with a smile and it's clean. There's no excuse for the state of this place. Even the floors were filthy. Honestly I'd never go to this place again, even if my life depended on me eating anything and this was only place open. Absolutely shameful, particularly considering the hygiene, were has it all gone since COVID. There was no one cleaning tables. Just really shocked on the state of the place. I think I'd of rather chewed on a pair of old socks. This is on the 'never again' list.

Nobody collecting glasses or plates, pigeons and seagulls wrecking all the outdoor tables due to uncollected food. Our Food arrived and then was told it would take another 10 minutes to get the drinks, turned out to be 20. I Just want to drink my pint with my food. Proper crap.

The reason we visit is that that have decent ales at not inflated prices. Service is hit and miss but the one outstanding thing that entertains us is the miserable staff. Sometimes they argue, sometimes they grimace. The best is when they desperately try to ignore each other behind the bar. If you are there on a good day they may even smile. It’s pot luck but as I said entertainment well worth paying for.

A busy Friday night and no app to order food and drinks Shame . It’s making things harder for our large table It would have been nice to see signage out as it’s been a guessing game keep trying

Seems on reading the reviews, people have strong opinions about this place, or places as part of this chain. As overseas travellers, we have none and just took it as it came. It was the first night of the football so I think staff were expecting it to be busier than it was as there were a number of bouncer type staff sitting together, possibly having a break however it wasn't particularly busy. Service was fine, food was your standard pub type food, no complaints, prices were reasonable, we were happy.

The Queen of Iceni is one of the nicer Wetherspoons being right beside the river in Norwich. Plenty of space to sit outside and enjoy the view and as always with Wetherspoons the beer is very good and excellent value for money

Only went in for two cups of tea. No milk. Had to ask four different members of staff to bring more milk before they did. And the drinks machines were right outside kitchen so it was a two second job. Staff all seemed very lethargic and disinterested. Very poor.

Dreadful service. Bar staff poorly trained. Female bar manager very aggressive, bit of a show off and clueless in customer liaison.

Fairly early, today (28/4/24 - around 09:45) - so relatively quiet. Staff smartly dressed, friendly, very efficient and kind. Food was delicious and served promptly.

We visited this Spoons on the 30th March at around 8pm. We ordered 4 cocktail jugs on the app, the wait was extremely long, around 45 minutes. The one cocktail we ordered was served without cranberry juice, so wasn't a sotb at all. The second order was even worse, they'd subbed the sotb for something containing Malibu. I have to say it was busy, however to get both orders wrong isn't great.

I have been a regular customer for many years but tonight I was disappointed as I ordered some cocktails and because it was a football day they came in plastic pint glasses it wasn’t so much that but there was no taste whatsoever to the cocktails just tasted of soda I did complain politely but because I’d drunk a little of mine they refused to replace it There was no apologies just made me feel like it was my fault took the drink Id paid a fiver for and left me with nothing because I complained and questioned that there was no taste and they filled it with soda Having worked in the catering trade myself I was shocked at the way it was handled

The beer was served in mugs which I hate plus was short measure. Normally I rate rate whwtherspoons highly in this respect but the barstaff need to ve reminded of the legal retirements.

I’m a big Spoons fan and use the Queen of Iceni a lot. Unfortunately today I had very bad customer service that I have never had before. I had been waiting patiently to be served at the bar for 5 minutes. A few customers had gathered to wait too. When there was a staff member available, he asked another customer what they would like. When I suggested I had been waiting longer (and the other customers agreed with this) I was told I was rude!! He then decided to tell all of his other colleagues this in front of me. When the food arrived it was cold and I wondered if this was on purpose and dare not ask for the food to be returned! Come on Spoons sort your service out and if your staff are having a bad day don’t take it out on the customers.

Great food, brilliant real ales. Now Christmas is over though, in the last few weeks, there’s been the same ones on tap a lot.

Friday night drinks. Great value! It was busy but to be expected on a Friday night. Enjoyed good value drinks and food. Chicken tikks was delicious.

Standard spoons. You know what you’re getting. I don’t even know why you would need to read a review about it at all really.

Food was ok. Rated poor due to members of staff having particularly bad hygiene in this establishment. One member of staff in particular who's foul language is as bad as the the smell of him when he came out of the kitchen. I understand it can be hot and busy in the kitchen environment but your member of staff named Matt clearly hadn't washed in over a week.

Drinks very cheap, love ordering from the table too. Very good for a lazy person. Meal was ok, a little like warm though. Desert, warm cookie dough sandwich, very vice. Toilets clean ! Only negative was that the place was absolutely freezing !

Ordered food and sat and waited then waitress came over at 8 and said could she see my daughters Id who is 21 to prove she was 18. We had not ordered any alcohol for tge table. As she didn’t have any Id on her we where told we would have to leave. No apology just said I will get your refund and walked off. The most untrained arrogant staff. Why she had been wondering around and waited till 8 to tell us I have no idea. No wonder it was empty especially on a bank holiday Monday.
