Awful experience. Visited on Sat 29/03/25 for a birthday treat. The service was so poor we had reason to complain. The response and lack of empathy we got from the manager left my partner in tears. You may reasonably expect there's always two sides to a story, but how can a restaurant manager reduce a customer to tears and promptly walk away unconcerned? Will never be going back.

Great food and service, but a cold early spring draft when opening wood spoiled the event. Once again a great meal at "The Hare Arms" I just love my visits. As mentioned during previous reviews, the surroundings are homely and not pretentious. The staff are friendly without being too fussy nor inattentive. The menu is adequate with an added bonus of quality goods being served. Not withstanding, the Hare Arms and my personal customer experience has always been very good but not excellent nor outstanding; which is a shame. This visit has only one real let-down again. It was a sunny early spring day but had a particularly chilly breeze. The bar once again filled with customers for lunch, but no log fires cracked to warm the atmosphere warm. Some customers were wearing coats to keep themselves cosy, most just accepted the situation as we did? Our original table was close to the main door of the pub, and once again a cold draft blow in when it was opened. My wife and I asked to move to a less windy table, and the staff obliged without any fuss. Two senior ladies eventually occupied these vacated seats, and true to form they kept their coats on. Our occasion was my 75th birthday and the bill came to £75 plus. So what can I say to the management? There is a room away from the main bar for dining, so surely people could be served there rather than a drafty bar area on cold windy days

We booked ahead based on the reviews. We were met and greeted by a friendly chap sat in the doorway and shown to a table and given two menus. When we asked what all the crosses meant he said he didn’t know. We initially asked for water to start and just over half a glass each was delivered. Turned out due to issues around 80% of the meals were off! We duly ordered and the food was promptly delivered, with just an ‘enjoy’. No one returned to our table, for drinks or a courtesy visit. When they cleared the table we asked for the bill. 15 minutes later, and no one coming near us, nothing, I went to the bar to pay. ‘Was everything ok?’ I’m asked. So I recounted the issues and all I got was a ‘oh, sorry’. End of conversation. No interest. We got the impression most of the clientele were locals. So, food was ‘ok’, but the customer service definitely needs reviewing??

Convenient hotel. Located in a typical English house. There is a park nearby, 10 minutes walk to the central streets. The room is small but cozy, the mattress is moderately hard. There's a local cider shop around the corner.

Family coming from Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk. This was the first time we'd been here. The staff were excellent in their welcome and service. The food presentation, portions and quality again were excellent. The menu gives very good choices and has been well thought out. The White Hart is comfortable and relaxing with a nice size garden (with play area for children that is safe but does not intrude). We had a really enjoyable time, thanks to all at the White Hart.

Food was nice but when you get the bill you will find out why the 2 stars £3 tea £3 apple juice £3 water!!! £3 coke so eventually we were charged over £16 as we had more than one just on drinks alone waitress had customer service of a bulldog chewing a wasp. It's common sense to ask customers if they want sauce with meals. She just went and sat down and spent most of the time complaining because I asked for butter with my potatoes then just stood playing on her phone. Poor people next to us order two teas and nearly finished their meal before they arrived. Wow never seen such poor service in my life...

I had a lunch with friends and was astonished at the tiny size portion of my lunch. The Dayboat Stew consisted of a tiny amount of fish - a few prawns, one mussel and a small piece of salmon( I think! ) - with no additional vegetables or potatoes. Priced at £24 this was very poor VFM. When I mentioned my feedback to a member of staff they just laughed and said ‘haha a small lunch’. My friends had the roast beef with the beef seemingly having been microwaved. Very disappointing for a beautiful setting and an occasional that was special.

One of the worst roast dinners I’ve had. I had the three meat roast, the Turkey was as dry as a leather boot, the crackling from the pork was the size of my little toe, the veg was hard, even though I’d asked for it cooked through. In addition to this, I had 3 potatoes…. One of which was smashed to pieces underneath all the food, one so small and hard it almost flew off the plate, and the third was just a simple boiled potato. Not what expect for £20.
