1, It calls it's a dog friendly inn, but only if you have 2 dogs. We were asked to put one dog in the car, but unfortunately, we had walked. But if we hadn't, which dog do you choose to isolate?

Wow, what an amazing place, with amazing food. Didn’t know if they done Gluten Free. It didn’t say on the menu but the staff couldn’t be more helpful when I asked. The chef really knew what he was doing and the food was amazing. Can’t wait to go for the 3rd time and would recommend it to anyone. Gluten Free or not.

Lovely family meal whilst on holiday camping on the site behind the pub/ restaurant!! 5 adults and 4 children and everyone loved the food they chose , empty plates said it all !!! Service was excellent even though it was very busy and staff were very friendly and helpful . Just a shame that not all meals on website were being offered today!! We will return to both the camp site and the restaurant again!!

We booked as a group of four, over the phone, a month in advance for a birthday meal out with my parents who live locally. Our group was rushed by the manager to finish and not told in advance that they close at 8 (table booked for 7). This was a bank holiday Sunday in August, what one might expect to be their peak trading period. Limited menu with many items sold out, such as a Sunday lunch on a Sunday...that's ok and I understand that happens, so I ordered a mixed grill instead. The waitress came back and said mixed grill was sold out, when I queried what part had sold out (as I could of gone without some of it) was told 'all of it' – I noted that eggs, steak, ham etc were still available on other dishes so I was a little perplexed if “all of it” was sold out . My partner ordered risotto; when it arrived we queried where the rocket (that was advertised with the dish) was, as it looked barren. The waitress checked with chef and was told that was sold out - this should have been explained before the meal came out. Nothing was offered in return as a substitution. We ordered a liqueur coffee and was given several options. We chose Tia Maria and the manager came to us and told us they had run out of Tia Maria (really?). We said that’s ok, we'll have Baileys instead of Tia Maria and was told that they're closing. We were told by (who we assumed to be) the Manager that they’re short staffed and really busy….I felt that’s really not our problem having already (attempted) to spend and not inconsiderable amount with them. Two stars as the food that they did have and was prepared to cook was nice. I got the impression that they really couldn’t be bothered, it’s really bad service, my parents live locally and its trade like theirs that keeps places like this going through the close winter season. Good luck over the winter but we certainly wouldn't return when there's so many other , more welcoming places locally.

Nice pub, friendly and casual. Food was good, although quite expensive and not plentiful. Very poor choice of vegan options, we were there for dinner and there was a choice of risotto which I’m not keen on and a mixed bean wrap! Dogs allowed inside which is a bonus. Not sure I would go again.

This was our silver wedding on Wednesday 5th June, so overall we were very disappointed. Good food, but spoiled by 4 dogs inside, 1 yapping throughout meal, and the dog owner-like many dog-owners- selfish in the extreme and only interested in their own pleasure, and did nothing to placate/correct the dog. In turn, it made other dogs bark. I expect that when they are happy with a pub full of dogs, hygiene is not top of their priority list🤔 Had sharing seafood platter which was good on presentation initially, but hygiene very poor as three plates/serving bowls had large chips/chunks out, and finger bowl, with lemon/water, ironically chipped badly and replaced. We came last year, and was good, but has gone downhill in the pursuit of profit. Contamination very probable, great shame but toilets and inside pub need overhauling. Building repairs being done outside, but need to be matched inside. In need of TLC. Obviously internal hygiene not very high on priorities. Staff were good, but were not interested in conduct of dogs. Maybe the owner should consider this, together with condition of the Pub.

What a fabulous place this is, the food is outstanding and doggy friendly too. Staff were so welcoming and all the food was top quality and piping hot. All your usual pub classics and crab is their speciality - the crab linguini was delicious and the fish tacos. An amazing dessert menu including sticky toffee pudding, jam sponge, syrup sponge, rhubarb crumble, biscoff cheesecake to name a few. We just couldn’t resist and everything is home made. Can I recommend this place more, in fact we booked to go back on Sunday for Sunday roast and we can’t wait.

Steak & ale pie packed with meat. Not really a pie as the topping was soggy and more like a thick slice of bread. Absolutely swimming in gravy which made it difficult to eat without getting all over your clothes. Veggies were cold. New potatoes hot and delicious. Sticky toffee pudding fab. Would go again but wouldn’t have seafood. Young waitresses all very pleasant.

Our twins and my husband chose this as the venue to bring me for Mother’s Day lunch and what a fabulous choice! Warmly welcomed, very busy but attentive service. Wide choice of drinks and a wonderful menu of delicious food. I started with a cosmopolitan cocktail as it was Mother’s Day after all :) all mums were given a little treat bag of chocolates and treats, beautifully wrapped, very thoughtful. Our starters included prawn and salmon cocktail, whitebait and chicken skewers. For mains I had my favourite Sunday meal … lamb shank which fell off the bone and was totally delicious accompanied by roasties and veg. Hubby went for beef & ale pie, our daughter a huge portion of amazing bbq ribs and she ended up taking 1/2 the portion home, our son had chicken stack…. All plates were cleared (except for 1/2 the ribs). We only ever eat two courses but the desserts were so inviting that even though we were pretty full from our first two courses we gave in, I shared a Malteser sundae with my hubby, our daughter had melting chocolate fudge cake (our son was too full to be tempted ☺️) All of the staff were friendly, engaging and nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful setting with a great atmosphere. We’ve been there previously in the summer where we ate in their lovely outdoor garden. Our family most certainly highly recommend this pub/restaurant. THANK YOU ☺️

We have made a point of coming to the Lighthouse Inn when in Norfolk for a number of years - the main reason being the fantastic food and range of menu. It changed hands a couple of years ago. We have given things time to settle and for the new owners to find their feet but after this evening’s terrible food we will not be back! After a lovely day on the coast it is such a disappointment and horrible end to our day out! Husband ordered chilli con carne and I ordered pork ribs with ‘hand cut’ chips and coleslaw. The first rack of ribs I was served up was dry and overdone (almost burnt) so I sent them back. The 2nd rack were also just as dry but I was so hungry and quite frankly, embarrassed at the terrible quality that I started to try to eat them. (The coleslaw was lovely)The ‘hand cut’ chips seemed to be out of a packet (we have similar at home from the supermarket) and more than half of them were discoloured. I sent these back as well. It took so long for the fresh chips to appear that by the time they did arrive I had finished the dry ribs - and all I wanted was to get out of there!! Cue……can we speak to the manager please. The prices are certainly NOT a reflection of the quality of meals we received this evening and are nothing like the quality we have received in the past. The ribs, chips and coleslaw cost £16 and were absolutely awful - I was so hungry and disappointed I could have cried! The chilli was reheated (not cooked fresh) and cost £12. The rice was lovely (a mix of rice with wild rice) but the sauce itself was clearly microwaved. The nachos were a nice flavour and crispy but for the price this dish should have been prepared fresh. We do know how hospitality has struggled because of the pandemic but this is no excuse to serve up substandard food to patrons. We will, in future, be taking our loyalty and custom elsewhere. To give the manager credit he did apologise for the poor quality of food. However, there was no mention of perhaps not charging us for our drinks or taking any money off the bill to try to apologise and keep our custom. We paid full whack and feel thoroughly cheated…….and still hungry with a 3 hour journey home!

This was the best chilli con carne I’ve had in a pub in ages. The rice was basmati and wild rice, with ground beef (I believe) and chocolate. Served with really nice nachos, not bland. The staff were very obliging and happy to bring me chilli flakes even before I had tasted the chilli itself - but that’s just to my taste. Even better was the fact that I was to wash down the chilli with a pint of Leffe which you don’t often find on tap. No hesitation about returning again.

We regular visit the Lighthouse for Sunday lunch when in Norfolk which is often but after today’s visit will not be returningThe food was not up to the standard we had expected after previous visits. The supposed Roast potatoes were not roasted just par boiled and just shown the oven. the cabbage was only half cooked Our biggest shock was the amount of dogs in the pub. The table next to us were 3 couples with 4 dogs, In the short time we stayed in the pub less than an hour, we counted a total of 7 dogs. Why were they allowed to be in the same area as other diners, why not be outside as were many other dog owners. There are people who are allergic to dogs, children who are frightened of dogs.

We popped into The Lighthouse for a cappuccino one morning recently. Although the pub was only just opening for business, everybody was very friendly and happy to serve us our cappuccinos. We were impressed by the inviting interior, too, and eventually settled in the spacious beer garden to enjoy the sun. A good look at their menu soon convinced us to take our lunch here - ham, egg and chips for my husband, and a Ploughman's for me - and we were not disappointed. The food arrived very fast, was lovingly presented and tasted even better, and all for a very reasonable £10 each. We will definitely return to also sample their evening menu and look forward to spending some more time at this friendly pub.

It was cooked in the french style as well. Rather impressed. Came day before for pint however only stayed for the one as wasn’t really pub more of seafood restaurant. Great food and service though. Plus Italy and french wines, which is obviously the best wines. They have New Zealand wines if you prefer lower grade of wine but each to there own.

My family and I visited the restaurant on the 3rd September for a meal, the food I must say was lovely, but my disappointment was with the waitress who was not wearing the same uniform that evening. I asked the young waitress in the lighthouse uniform, if it was possible to have a jug of water, who then went and asked the said waitress with out the uniform, who made you feel it was to much trouble as she rolled her eyes, my meal then came without my sides I had ordered and was made to feel very uncomfortable about asking where they were. I don’t think you should be made to feel your being a nuisance over asking for a jug of water.

On a family holiday in #barnsbythebeach with my two daughters, my son-in-law, my 5 year old grandson and our dog Rigs we decided to have a meal out at The Lighthouse as they were dog friendly. We couldn't of asked for a better place, the food was amazing and the staff were brilliant. It was well worth the visit. Thank you to all the staff for making us all feel so welcome, including Rigs

We have been here many, many times and it was a real favourite of ours. After visiting last night, we will NOT be returning. The two young ladies on the door told us that they were fully booked.(OK, fair enough). We were told we could sit outside but because we had not booked there would be a long wait. No apology, no warm welcome that we used to receive. We were referred to as YOU GUYS, we are a married couple, my husband is a GUY, I, as a woman am not. You have lost at least 3 good customers Lighthouse inn.

We stopped at The Lighthouse Inn for some lunch and wasn't disappointed. There were two of us and two dogs, they made us all feel welcome. Makes a lot of difference when on holiday with your pets to find good dog friendly places to eat or drink. Food was very good, and staff were very friendly. It was very busy for a Thursday lunch time so glad we managed to get a table without booking. Would definitely recommend this pub if you was staying in the Walcott/ Bacton area.

Stopped off here for a bite of lunch as we have visited in the past and had a lovely meal. Unfortunately, this time, the food was not up to the usual standard. The ploughman's lunch was awful, very stale baguette which was cold with 3 lettuce leafs, 3 quarter's of tomato, very soft pickled onions which looked like they had seen better days. Also, lots of dogs allowed in the restaurant while you are eating. All in all I would not recommend and will not be going back!

Totally recommend this charming pub and restaurant - very good food, friendly and attentive service, lovely atmosphere and a nice beer garden. And they're dog friendly too! Our recent visit was for a Sunday roast lunch - which was delicious, with tender meat, nicely cooked vegetables and amazing home made Yorkshire puddings. We'll be back soon to have the lobster and crab salad.

We booked for a Thursday lunchtime. We choose the lighthouse as another restaurant was fully booked. We viewed a menu online and noted it had vegetarian choices. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and our dog was offered a treat. We sat near the bar and were impressed by the layout / decor.A drinks order was quickly taken and then we looked at the menu which differs from those online. They have a different lunch / evening offering. We ordered the crab salad, a steak and ale pie and a jackfruit burger. All food was well presented and very tasty. We then had deserts - banoffe pie and sticky toffee pudding. Again well presented and enjoyed by all.The bill including drinks came to £60. The whole experience was first rate from arrival to exit. Would happily eat here again.

Dropped in to the Lighthouse Inn on a ride out to the coast. I must say all the four meals ordered were excellent and enjoyed by us all. The service was all you could hope for, friendly and efficient. The landlord (or I assume he was) took the time to come and speak to us and make us feel most welcome. A great example of what a good pub should be! I can highly recommend and we will return.

We had a pleasant evening but the food was overpriced. Our ‘artisan bread’ starter was some supermarket part baked rolls and cost £7. We are happy to spend money but felt a bit ripped off by that. Kids meals were nice and the restaurant felt family friendly. Overall the experience was just a bit bizarre and we left having spent £92 for some very average food. You can see what type restaurant they are trying to become it sadly they are a little way off this yet.

We have not visited for some years and still as good as ever! Proper pie is still a proper pie, chilli with quite a kick, delicious... puds yummy, lemon roulade and scrummy chocolate sundae. Lovely staff, welcoming and efficient. I had read the other reviews about it being a bit pricey, I dont agree, I think it was good value and will most definitely be returning soon. Thank you Lighthouse Crew, great job.

Very disappointed having had 2 excellent Sunday lunches here. Service very slow and poor no one seemed to be organised. Food overpriced and poor quality. Had pie with Broccoli which was definitely off smelt and tasted awful. Food not hot. Dessert very small and still frozen in middle. Sadly won’t be eating here again in the evening.

what a lovely Fish and Chip shop, front of house was a lovely friendly lady, Young lady at the till was obviously new and learning the tills, but what a lovely happy go lucky young lady she was. Explaining, she is new to the tills so please bare with her. Ordered our food, Traditional Cod and Chips, all nice and fresh and tasty, and nice size portions. Looking forward to going back to Well's later in the year for some more Fish and chips from here

Have popped in occasionally and had the most delicious pie and gravy. Was in the area Saturday and thought a lovely pie and gravy will go down a treat on such a cold day. Saturday luch time, no pies on the menu, just a very basic baguette, omlette, baked potato menu, really disappointed. Should have guessed, very sparse of dinners. Ordered the egg baguette, to be told a minute later 'we can't get hold of any eggs'. So all the omlettes were unavailable too. I've just been to a farmers market down the road that's full of eggs and pies! Cheese baguette ok, very cheap colesaw on side( sorry being really picky now). It has changed hands and don't believe the menu online, we won't be going back.

Wow what a find. the best place to eat for miles around if you have dogs with you as it is very dog friendly. We went for Sunday lunch and sat out on the covered terrace next to the lovely garden. There was a choice of 4 roast meats and a vegetarian option. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The cost was also very reasonable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere.

Great staff, amazing views, nice range of beers. They continue to do a great job on the pier, we are so lucky to have it. It's a treasure that has been beautifully maintained.
