We booked a table for 14 people for a Sunday lunch. The meal was absolutely delicious, plenty of it so tasty. The staff were efficient and the service was excellent. The place was very busy and to caterer for 14 diners in one sitting is no mean feat. All the food was served quickly and hot . Thank you all the staff

We love the Swan but feels like standards have slipped a bit in recent months. Kelly is sorely missed as front of house. Emma is brilliant but if she’s not on, the service is really lacking. Lack of attention to detail and just a non plussed attitude from some of the bar staff. The balance between price and quality of food has also shifted recently. Too expensive for what it is. We’ll still come because it’s a great local pub but could be even better.

We arrived just before lunchtime and were looking for somewhere to have a bit of light lunch. We came across a pub called the Swan, but it is not a pub. It is far more than that and ended up having a full on lunch each as the food is absolutely exquisite if you are looking for somewhere to have some lunch or some dinner don’t hesitate and give this place a try you will not be disappointed. Would highly recommend the beef and the pork Both served in a beautiful way and the taste was absolutely 1st class The beef Bavette was so well cooked medium rare that the plate was cleared no problem along with the fantastic fries and lovely green side salad that was very fresh. Also a pork chop was cooked to perfection and apart from the bone there was not a hint of it left on the plate. The fondant potato and tender stem broccoli was delicious and fresh

We weren't sure what to expect and arrived on a cold May evening to be greeted very warmly by Amber, who showed us our room. The room was a good size with everything you needed. Extremely clean with lovely decor and some nice touches. We ate in the restaurant and couldn't fault the food or service it was delicious. After a good night's sleep on our very comfy bed, we headed off to breakfast and enjoyed a full English. Would of like to have seen a croissant and perhaps a kipper on the menu. The staff at the swan were charming and professional, a real asset to the pub. We didn't want to leave and will definitely head back to the Swan again. Thank you.

As ever the quality of the food and friendly service was spot on. However (and not for the first time) the cheese board was very disappointing. Minimal everything for unreasonable £11! We will speak personally to the management about this. This element needs to improve

We stayed 2 nights for my wife’s birthday and overall it was a very nice relaxing stay. Staff were helpful and friendly and rooms comfortable, and I’ve only marked down a star because of the slightly limited menu - the food on offer was very good- which was the same for lunch and dinner. A few lunch options would’ve been appreciated as would 2-3 more options of both starter and main courses. A couple more slight negatives was that one of the toilet rolls in the room was half used and the shower head leaked badly from one end which should’ve been picked up. Overall a very good visit.

What a fantastic Sunday lunch, the food was mega! The best roast beef I have eaten for years, tender and delicious. A lovely variety of vegetables, with light yorkshire puddings and crispy potatoes. The portions are quite large but we did manage a pudding which was equally as delicious. One very minor point, two of the waitresses were on their first shifts and needed a little more guidance. We will definitely be back. Certainty the best Roast we can find locally.

Walked into the bar to be met by a dog seated at the bar, on a bar stool! I kid you not. The owners of the dog were standing alongside the bar with their flippin’ snout nosed pooch perched on two stools. Puhlease! We bought drinks and moved to another part of the bar as far away as possible. Settled into our seats when an over-exuberant black dog dashed in and defaecated on the floor close to where we were sitting. The owner rushed to collect the detritus but the stench was awful! Won’t be going back any time soon.

The pub clearly has been revamped and looked like it had been renovated. Great atmosphere, welcoming and warm. We had a beer and decided to eat. My partner is vegan and she had one of her best meals. The crusted tofu with a taper sauce was really good and had an amazing flavour. She had a dark chocolate torte with Raspberry sorbet a perfect "to follow". My meal was less spectacular - Beer Battered Cod, Triple Cooked Chips and Crushed Peas. Excellent although I did not think the crushed peas were as good as traditional mushy peas.

Hadn’t been for years and I only live down the road! Restaurant was fairly busy for a Tuesday night. Atmosphere was perfect and the food absolutely delicious. Presentation of the food as well as quality and flavour were top notch and our bill was very reasonable - highly recommended! I had salmon and cod croquette followed by incredibly tender shoulder of lamb - both dishes I would happily order again. I also had salted chocolate ganache dessert which if I’m honest I’m still not sure how much I liked it ( I ate it all and would have to order another in the future to decide - I think I must like it!) Wait and bar staff were friendly and attentive even though they were busy. What a lovely doorstep find - we will certainly return

Went to the Swan Inn today as a family of 6 for a birthday Sunday lunch. The menu was varied and we were looking forward to the meals. However……. The burger was so dry it crumbled. It had no taste and was like eating cardboard. The pork tenderloin was awful. Tender?? Was so chewy that those who had the misfortune to have ordered it suffered with jaw ache. Bubble & Squeak had more salt than the sea. Portion sizes are small - but to be honest this was probably a good thing for us as it was unpleasant anyway. Felt so bad for putting my family through that!

Took visiting friends here for Sunday lunch. Many main meal menu choices, but very limited vegetarian options. No vegetarian Sunday roast, so asked if it would possible to have the roast meal, but with meat substituted for a vegetarian protein option. This was agreed, but what turned up was a few barely cooked roast veg. : potatoes, one carrot, 2 small pieces of parsnip, and a soggy Yorkshire pudding. And that was it! No gravy, sauce or protein. When we politely made the waitress aware that the promised protein meat alternative had been forgotten, an offer of polenta or vegetarian sausages was made. The latter - pink and flaccid - finally arrived as I was finishing my uninspiring, small serving of under roasted veg. The whole thing was disgraceful. To give the so -called "chef" a score of 1 out of 10 would be generous. If the chef did not want to provide a vegetarian roast meal, the waitress should have returned to our table to say so, then I could have chosen an alternative (albeit from a very limited menu). What was provided was derisory, grossly overpriced, and frankly an offering that any proper chef should be extremely ashamed of. To add insult to jnjury, the chicken roast meal ordered by a member of our party came with pieces of bacon on it, although this was not stated on the menu. This was grossly offensive, as this person does not eat pork or bacon for religious reasons. The Swan at Loddon is my local, so I would like to eat there occasionally, but I have given them repeated chances to up their game. I will not be going there again. Time the owners invested in a proper chef.

A great all round place for a meal located right in the centre of Loddon across the road from the Market Place car park. The Swan is nicely furnished and comfortable with both restaurant and bar areas, we booked at short notice and as a result ate in the bar, which didn't detract from our experience. The food menu has a good range of interesting choices for all courses, plus an unusually good wine list too. Our food was very nicely presented, perfectly cooked and delicious.Service was excellent, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We visited the restaurant while staying at the accomodation and while there are a few choices in Loddon we were pleased we did as the food was excellent. We were taken through to the restaurant at the back of the pub which was a lovely old barn with high ceilings and great exposed beams. Although the walls were painted in typical pub cours, the decor was individual with an aclectic array of nice paintings. Good large tables well spaced out. There were about 5 choices for starters, mains and deserts. We had a tomato tart to start which was excellent - it included pickled tomatoes and the pastry was light and flaky. For mains we had need hash which was also excellent, with large pieces of lean beef, as well as the chicken supreme which was also excellent - the rosti of particular note. Both main courses were full of flavour. We finished with chocolate ganache with sour cherry sorbet to share - the combination was excellent. Starters were approx £7-8, mains we had were £13-15 but ranges up to £24, deserts approx £7-8. The wine selection was very good, and easy to choose something different. In particular we appreciated the choice of two desert wines and three ports - the ports were not the usual and the one we had was excellent. Great to see a pub that makes an effort in their wines and ports. Service was very friendly and efficient. Overall this was an excellent meal, and somewhere we will be returning to.

Desserts were a little pricey I thought but as I haven't eaten out much over the last 15 months maybe prices have changed. We only had the main meal though so can't comment on value for money for starters or desserts. Staff a very friendly and helpful - all wearing masks. We were let down by a hotel at the last minute and found The Swan at very short notice. We really liked the look of the room on the Booking.com site. We booked three nights. We found we had arrived on the first night of opening post lockdown and there were some inevitable start up issues. That said, the staff were all very helpful and sorted everything out. The restaurant is perfectly good but could be much better. The dinner menu was okay but nothing exceptional. Breakfast was much better and the fresh fruit salad was excellent. The two issues that were slightly irritating were:1 Parking was a struggle. The car park is big enough but it is unclear how much is for guests. There is a bowls club and residential parking on the same site. Clear signs and markings would help.2 Noise. We were in a room facing onto the main road. Lots of road noise and the pub has a very noisy extractor fan. All in all a good stay but it could have been nicer.

We would normally stay with my parents when coming back to see our Norwich family, but in these times it didn’t seem wise. We found the Swan online and were so glad we chose it. We needed a family room and the four of us (2 adults, 2 children) stayed in a large room in the beautiful building (the old town hall) next to the pub. The room was huge and had clearly been recently tastefully renovated and was immaculate. There was a big en suite bathroom with separate bath and shower and nice toiletries (always good when you get conditioner!). The staff were really friendly and we made our breakfast choices for the next day. We also had dinner at the Swan in the evening in the upstairs dining room. The food quality was excellent and we all enjoyed it. Breakfast was also great- served in the bar by the v friendly staff and included in the room rate for the four of us so v good value. All v COVID compliant - nothing to fault at all. We also had a nice walk by the water in Loddon. Would absolutely recommend.

Firstly, lets start with the positives. The room was very clean and the staff were very friendly. That's kind of where it ends. We arrived on a Monday for a five night stay. We tried to book a table for the evening but was told food wasn't served on a Monday, even for guests. After checking in, we were handed five sheets of paper with breakfast options on. We were told that these must be filled in the day before and handed in. I don't know about everyone else, but i'm not sure what I want for breakfast 12 hours before having it. And even though we did this, on two of the five days, our cooked breakfast took 45 minutes to arrive. We had to eat out on the Monday, no choice, but decided to have a drink in the bar when we got back. Arrived at the bar at 20:25, to be told they were closing the bar, again, even to residents, at 20:30. They stated they were not "busy enough" to bother staying open. I counted 14 customers in there. We decided for the rest of the week, if this is the way they were going to treat us, we would take our custom elsewhere. Another gripe is, they only ever leave one toilet roll in the room. Whilst in the bar on our first night, another resident mentioned this to a waitress. She said she was sorry for this and would speak to the cleaner the following day. She went off, and returned to the customers table. She then plonked 2 toilet rolls in the middle of her table. The poor lady looked completely humiliated and this was one of the poorest piece of customer service I have ever witnessed. I did state, the room was clean but always smelt musty as the only window that could be opened was a small window in the bathroom. Parking is also inadequate and often unavailable. Loddon is an excellent location to base yourself if you want to explore Norfolk. Due to covoid, this is what many will do. I really would advise to avoid The Swan. Its not cheap, but everything seems to be run on a shoestring.

We had an evening meal here midweek, so it was nice and quiet. The welcome and service were warm and friendly. The food was tasty and presented well. I ordered the sea trout with new potatoes and spinach. I was initially disappointed at my very small spoonful of spinach and small piece of fish (I love my veg particularly). However, both the waitress and chef were very accommodating and gave me another bowlful of kale and spinach (although I wasn’t sure if I was charged for this extra amount as the fish was simply priced as ‘market value’). A small criticism was that the veg was too salty. I also felt that some of the dishes were over priced. Otherwise it was a pleasant evening out and I would re visit.

When we first moved to this area, we used to regularly visit The Swan but after a couple of bad experiences, we stopped going there & it must be at least four years since we last ate there. However, with family recently staying & wanting somewhere to eat within walking distance & a place that would be happy to accommodate two dogs, we decided to give The Swan another chance. It has certainly redeemed itself. The welcome was extremely friendly & a big fuss was made of the dogs & two treats found. Great range of gins. Our meals were much enjoyed & the fish in particular was of good quality. Everything is obviously cooked to order, so don't go here if you are in a hurry. We waited a good half an hour for our meals to arrive, although that wasn't a problem. Service was a little slow, particularly between the main course & pudding, as one of our party needed to get back to work & they only wanted ice cream. It was a shame to see it so quiet. Apart from our table, there were only three other people eating but it was a dreary Thursday afternoon in November & hopefully it is busy at the weekend. We now wish we had thought to try The Swan again sooner than we did but we will certainly go back.

The room we had was lovely. It was large it had plenty of room to move around with a large bathroom with walk in shower. However I asked for a double room, we got two singles fastened together, not exactly what I expected. Another let down for our stay was the lack of sleep due to an unexplained noise throughout the night. It sounded like either a drill or electric saw being used. this lasted for about 3 mins and occurred every 30 mins. This happened on 2 / 3 nights the first & last. When reported at breakfast after the first night the staff said they would look into it. The breakfast was also a bit of a let down with limited choice. Full English with toast or cereal I feel this could be easily improved, by adding a small continental choice along with fruit & yogurt.

Stayed at the Swan and had breakfast on three mornings. The cooked breakfast was very good with excellent locally sourced sausages and bacon. However, if you didn't want cooked breakfast, there was hardly any alternative; no porridge, no yogurt, no pastries or croissants, no pancakes, no waffles, no fresh fruit salad. Just three cereals, fruit juice and a bowl of very tired fruit (which appeared on all three mornings with less and less fruit in it). The toast was cold with a very limited choice of jam/marmalade. The breakfast room was lovely and the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful, but it was poor value when included in the expensive overnight stay. The evening meals at The Swan were great, which made the breakfast even more of a let down. They are promoting this as 4 star accommodation and breakfast; pity it isn't there yet.

Foods good, nice place, clean, good service but no atmosphere, I’d love to recommend this place but I feel no draw to go back, it’s a pity because everything else was good

We booked here after reading some very good reviews. Unfortunately our experience was not great. On arrival the room looked beautiful but smelt stale. There were several flies buzzing around as the windows had been left open. The carpet was grubby with bits everywhere. I asked reception if they could please vacuum the room whilst we were out. They agreed but nobody did it. Every surface in the room was incredibly dusty. The extractor fan in the bathroom was caked with dust. See photos! —- The hotel plumbing desperately needed attention. We were awoken at 2 am when the guests in another room had late night showers. Wow! The loud rumbling noise was incredible, it was like a jet plane taking off. I recorded it on my phone. —- The bedding was of good quality but there were some discouraging stains. The beds were also very soft and we both left with painful backs having had very little sleep. We skipped breakfast even though we had paid for it. We felt overwhelmingly tired and cheated out of £90 and just wanted to leave. —- It’s so disappointing as many of these problems could be so easily fixed. The pub is situated in a lovely village location and the rooms were spacious with nice furnishings and modern bathrooms. The photos on the website depict a very smart four-star hotel ... which it could be if subjected to some thorough cleaning!!

We met up with a relative who was over from New Zealand and who was over with us for the day. WE decided to go to The Swan as it was local and would bring back memories for her. The food was beautifully presented and cooked as we have come to expect when we have eaten there. Nice ambience and discreet service. Excellent place for that meal that you want to be that little bit more special.

Not the best meal we have had, 2 of us had fish and chips, very few chips and they were dry, 2 had burgers, the burgers were ok but again chips dry. The burgers were served on a wooden platter, why?

Might seem an odd title, but there are not many decent eateries where you can take man's best friend and IMHO this feature should not be underestimated.

With two vegetarians and one gluten and lactose intolerant diner, we were not going to be an easy group to cater for. However The Swan’s kitchen and staff managed superbly. It was a pleasure to be in this busy pub and be served good food by friendly staff.

We ate at The Swan last night and we're well looked after with just two exceptions. The ham hock with fried egg would have been even better had the yolk been runny and secondly we didn't realise that we were supposed to pay at the bar so we sat for some time waiting for the card machine after the bill was delivered!! Otherwise the lamb kofta and fish cakes we're delicious. (The portions are quite large here so we chose from the starter menu.) Thank you for a very pleasant evening.

Three of us had lunch here on a Saturday which was our first visit to the Swan. We all plumped for the ribeye steak for the main course which was cooked excellently as were the triple cooked chips. Everything was nicely seasoned. The wine was Don David Malbec from Argentina which I can highly recommend. Deserts were nice and we all enjoyed the meal. On another visit I may try some of the interesting gins on offer. I would definitely be happy to dine here again.

Our family of 8 made a late booking and although tables were full and only an hour to taking the last food orders the staff made us very welcome and seated us quickly and without hesitation. The food was excellent, beer was good and staff so helpful. Thank you.

We stopped for a quick lunch and were pleased we did. I had the haddock fish cakes which were really good. Served on a distinctively flavoured pea based sauced a mile away from 'food service company' offerings. Beer was good too.

We had seen The Swan featured in the Norfolk Magazine so thought we would go there for lunch on a wet and dismal Sunday. We arrived to find no one in the bar to serve drinks so I went to the rear of the restaurant to check they were serving food to be met by a group of ladies having a conversation who said that food would be served from 12noon - ten minutes away . No problem with that but we sat down with the newspaper and still no one came out to serve drinks or acknowledge our presence. Very poor service. We left and went to the tea room further down the road where customer service was far superior.

Recently visited and had a very nice meal. The food was exceptional, the service spot on and the atmosphere very welcoming. Only slight negative note, I booked a table in what I thought was the restaurant, having never visited before, and we were situated essentially in the bar area which I found slightly miss leading. Having said that I was impressed overall and would definitely return and recommend a visit to those who were looking for advice on a restaurant to visit.

This free house Pub and restaurant has been on our to eat list for a while, so when the wife spotted that we could book and stay overnight with a three course meal and breakfast for under £70 each it was too good to miss. This proved to be the case. We stayed in February. The accommodation was excellent it looked very new with parking just outside The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly and the food from the menus, with no restrictions on choice, was superb a reasonable selection of wines

Visited with 3 generations for a booked Sunday lunch. The toast beef was carved to our taste and was tender. The roast pork was very good. Adult portions were generous and children's portions appropriately sized. The room was comfortable and clean and the service very attentive. A slight delay occurred when the sweet course was being served but profuse excuses offered when this was identified. Good value for money.

I stayed here overnight as I had an interview in Norwich. I wanted somewhere clean and relatively inexpensive and found this with breakfast included on booking.com for £55. I was greeted with a warm welcome, shown to my room and had a really comfy nights sleep. Breakfast was great tasty produce and once again I was greeted with a friendly welcome face. I would definitely stay here again.

The food at the swan is mediocre at best. Small pretentious portions of very average ‘pub grub’. The staff are badly trained and incapable of offering service in line with the frankly ridiculous prices.

They have an area of the front bar made up as a restaurant, wait staff who fake silver service mannerisms without a clue how to actually be mature and polite, and who we had to go and find no less than three times during the meal (drink top up, pudding menu, pudding order). The really don't offer service at all and would do better to admit it's better to go to the bar. Tables for two are so wide that you have to shout to hold a conversation above bar noise, and all at prices I would expect to pay at a good restaurant. Food was mediocre at best. A huge bowl of dollop called a risotto, not even a garnish. A 'steak of the day at market price' that was over seasoned, cooked rare not medium, and came with precisely 5 chips , one mushroom and half a tomato for £21.00. Had we not found so much to laugh at in the pretension of this place we would likely have left without paying the bill. Dreadful.

If you want burgers, pie, pizza, fish&chips also on our table location - on a busy food/pedestrian pass- plus a classy constant ‘C bomb’ dropping female barfly atmos - then this the place for you! Used to be great - what the heck has gone wrong? No specials, no drinks service, no enquiry as to if everything was ok (maybe too embarrassed to ask!). Great family (away from the classy barfly) ‘cafe/burger joint - but not a couples restaurant - maybe a commercial choice but not for us sadly anymore.

A lovely place to stop off for a filling bite to eat, with a large assortment of sweet and savory dishes and snacks on the menu. Friendly staff that don't 'overdo it', whilst ensuring a relaxed and attentive service. May be more pricey when ordering for groups of people, but individually it is worth the money. The selection of food we bought was recieved positively, cooked well to order with large and ample amounts, which recieved strains of 'oohs' and 'aahs' of satisfaction, especially towards crispy, flavoursome Scampi, and vinegar-coated, chunky chips. Very pleased with service, food, and cafe layout itself. Only issue is towards prices of drinks, but that can't be helped much due to inflation. All round good experience, leaving us full until the afternoon.

What a lovely manager. It was close to shutting as I pulled in to sort out my baby from crying on my way home to Essex. The manager even though closed invited me and my baby in so I could feed him and offered me tea. Thanks to her I had a happy baby who slept the rest of the hour journey home. That kindness I will never forget and now we plan to go in every time we make the journey now to see the parents. 10000/10

We had a very pleasant meal even though the service was very slow, staff were polite. Very nice atmosphere even though there was a very loud man in the bar. I asked a man who I assume was the manager that there was no soap in the ladies toilet he said he would deal with it but when I was leaving both soap dispensers were still empty so I had to use the disabled toilet. A mocca was ordered and we were charged for a Hot Chocolate and an Americano which came to £5.50, if we had known it would be this price we would not have ordered it, we queried it and were told we should have looked at the menu, there was no Mocca mentioned so we should have been informed.
