Visited The Crown last night for a Birthday Dinner celebration. This Country Pub, Restaurant is going from strength to strength since it was taken over by by Lucy and Darryl. From the minute you approach the Thatched building with its beamed interior, you feel as though you have walked into a country cottage living room. Comfortable chairs, relaxed ambience, well stocked bar and a changing menu including fish, steaks, veg, vegan, and a little from afar. It’s always nice to have something with a different twist! Plenty of spacious tables in both front bars and a long atmospheric restaurant behind the bar. If you haven’t visited yet, put it on your eating out list, I don't think you will be dissapointed with the welcome, the friendly staff or the good food.

A really lovely evening spent with friends at The Crown, Pulham Market. Excellent food served by friendly staff. Great atmosphere. The Crown was beautifully decorated for Christmas and it was lovely to walk in, out of the cold, to a roaring log fire. Thank you for a fabulous evening.

The Pulham Crown is a lovely pub and Pulham Market is lucky to have it. Low beams, beautiful log fires, lovely views across The Green in the summer and a refurbishment several years ago that transformed the property. Last night we took friends from Sussex for dinner, it being potentially hazardous due to the dietary needs of one diner. However, we needn’t have been worried. Our waitress was well versed in gluten and dairy free and explained such, very well, suggesting good staff training by management. On the down side we commented how, wherever you go these days the menu is made up of pizza, burgers and pies, even in restaurants. Also, beware, the wine is hideously expensive when by the glass. I ordered two pints of Wherry and two, admittedly large glasses of wine and the bill was an eye watering £27! For four drinks? Having said that, the environment is lovely, the staff apparently well trained and the food is excellent. Thanks for a lovely evening

Went for 1st time today and it did not disappoint. Lovely friendly staff and the menu was really varied, could have had pretty much any of them. Opted for the Pie, a proper pie it was too. Filled to the brim and so flavoursome. If I could have licked the gravy out of the pot I would have. 🤤. Will definitely be returning.

This used to be great pub for food. Sadly over the last 12 months it has gone spectacularly downhill! Lovely comfortable and charming interior and good beer. Sadly I have had two disappointing meals . Most recent being with family. We order a pasta dish with salmon. Tasteless! And we ordered Pie of The Day. Probably at least a day old steak pie turned up. Very very very crusty pastry. An uncooked carrot and a tiny bit of broccoli accompanied the pie. Lots of gravy but it seemed that the gravy had been thrown on to the plate covering everything including the small gravy jug sitting on the plate. No salt or pepper on the table. I gather the pub has introduced a new menu. My advice to customers. Stick to the drinks. My advice to the pub. Either don’t serve food at all or offer food that your fine reputation can live up to. Don’t over complicate keep it simple and manage customer expectations.

Avoid the pizza I found it to be a stodgy doughy mess Partner had steak and ale pie which he enjoyed and it was nicely presented Have had lots of pizzas in various different places at various different price points and this is on a par with the worst of them I accept that they will vary some are excellent some not so good but I've always managed to eat them regardless I ate less than half of this one and I don't like to waste food. I mentioned the fact that it was overly doughy to the waitress just as general constructive feedback when she collected the plates The topping was generous but a bit of a a mish mash of flavours and the overall effect combined with the dough was heavy and stodgy However. If you're a fan of the deep pan pizza style you may enjoy it Perhaps they should concentrate on their main menu and scrap the pizzas altogether Aside from that it seems a fairly pleasant enough pub I'm not overly familiar with the area but next time in the area I'd maybe. chose the other village pub purely based on this experience as I understand they now serve food On a positive note the dessert I had was very nice

Visited for Sunday Lunch. The restaurant was freezing.....yes it was a very cold day and yes the cost of heating has increased considerably but it made the room uninviting and not a place for having a relaxed meal. Staff were pleasant but very young(18-20) I would guess and clearly not experienced in service or communication with customers.....no personality and no conversation. Food was ok apart from rock hard roast potatoes that appeared to have been cooked the day before and reheated. Oh...and if you are going to provide extra gravy in pots dont place the pots on the plate in the middle of the food we were about to eat. We had desserts which again were ok although every dessert came with ice cream no custard.....us British love our custard. The ice cream accompliment was the smallest of scoops and mine had split and was grainy in texture. Would we go back?....maybe to try again but we will wait to spring or summer my feet might have thawed out from the cold by then.

We ate in the restaurant for an evening meal which was decorated lovely for Christmas. The fire was roaring which added to the ambiance. We found the menu had lots of verity but wasn’t overwhelming. Everything was presented perfectly and we could not fault the food. Everyone said their food was delicious throughout. Although on the higher end of pricing, the portions were sized according to this so no issues with paying slightly more than other places. The mussels and pheasant were stand out favourites on our table. Deserts were also really large portions, the cheese board could have been halted and it still would have been worth the money. When it came to the end of our meal there was a 10% service charge added to the bill (we had seen this on the menu already). This added around £15 to our total. We decided as a table to leave a cash tip of slightly less as personally we found the table service wasn’t the best we had experienced. We felt slightly forgotten and the staff gave the impression they’d rather be somewhere else. We paid the total without the gratuity and were told there was the remaining left to pay, we said sorry for the confusion but we want to remove the gratuity to which we had a snappy response before we could even explain we were leaving it separately. This changed the whole dynamic of our evening and left a sour taste. We decided against leaving a tip at all after this. I feel the kitchen staff have lost out as a result of the front of house staff on this occasion. Regardless of the staff on this particular evening, the food really was lovely and I will recommend the restaurant.

Service was slow and inattentive. Waiting staff need to be trained to show appreciation to customers if they wish them to return as they are the forefront of the business.

However, again taste could not be faulted! (Be aware though my partner said I had garlic great for 3 days!!)For desert we had the sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess.Unfortunately the pudding was cold and we have to get new ones sent out- which were much smaller than the original portions. The pudding was still a bit dry and burnt tasting, and I felt the toffee sauce was quite bitter. We got the puddings at half price because of the cold ones, and our servers were very attentive. To summarise, mains are delicious, but I won’t be stopping again for desert!!

If you’re a non-meat eater be prepared for an 80’s vibe of nut roast or stuffed peppers. On asking if there was a veggie special we were informed ‘there’s a fish dish’ .So we had a starter & sweet, the soup was just that but the lumpy custard gave us a good giggle - like school days. On a serious note it was shocking that the chef allowed that to be sent out. If you have lactose/dairy free friends take your own milk, it’s cow or nowt so no tea or coffee.

Went for dinner with my family and was very impressed with both the food and the service with the added bonus of the pub itself being lovely and quaint with its decorations and log burning fires. 3 of us got starters, a goats cheese and pesto salad and two shrimp and chorizo on bread with Chili jam. I’m a pescatarian but because all the food is made fresh to order I could ask for mine to have no chorizo, which was a lovely surprise as not many places are so accommodating! And it was delicious too, lovely big prawns. For mains I went for the beetroot risotto with sweet potato, which was delicious, my brother got the burger and myParents made the most of the two steak meals for £20 and neither could finish their whole plate because was such a generous portion but they both said it was great. Me and my dad shared the sticky toffee pudding, which was another big portion and that’s always amazing because nothing worse than a small dessert! With everyone having the equivalent of two courses each along with a bottle of wine and some other drinks, the bill wasn’t even near £100 so everything was very reasonably priced and would definitely come back to try more things on the menu and would recommend it to anyone who asked! Prawn cocktail was good. Bruchetta with cheddar and onion marmalade (actually cheese on toast) not great. Tomato and garlic soup was far too peppery. Main course beetroot risotto was inedible, beetroot rock hard and looked more like boiled rice than risotto. haddock cooked in garlic butter was so over cooked it was also inedible, served with under-cooked boiled potatoes and a very sad salad! Beef came with a enormous burnt Yorkshire, mash was reheated potatoes and meat fatty. Main course arrived after one hour !! All ok but small portion of meat. Service less than great, waitress very young and inexperienced. Will not return.

We have had many visits to this lovely country pub, situated in a small village overlooking the village green. The food here is always brilliant with a varied menus that changes regularly and sources local produce. The staff here are very attentive and friendly and always offer a warm welcome. We will return and would recommend popping in if you are in the area for a drink or a bite to eat.Dogs are welcome as are muddy boots.Great open fires in the winter and blankets if you feel chilly.Look out for local.events taking place on the green, including the Circus always an added bonus.

Accidentally came across this characterful Inn. Completely dog friendly, a very welcoming cosy interior in spite of its size designed to look a bit like a comfy country cottage. Very good food and outstanding service. Topped off by meeting and thoroughly enjoying chatting to Fred whose local pub this has been for his entire life. He's only 88 and is the custodian of Pulham's rich history, much of it his own.

On Saturday 6th April 2019 we got married and had our reception at The Crown. We arranged to meet Laura the manageress and Keith the head chef to discuss our requirements. You pointed us in the right direction and arranged the day to suit our wishes. From start to finish you took the stress off our shoulders and delighted our guests with a delicious meal which they can't stop talking about. Thank you so much for everything you did for us to make our day so special xx

Calling into the Crown we were made to feel welcome straight away by both the staff and the regulars. The food was excellent and the beer well maintained. The Crown has lovely dining area and still maintains a country pub feel. We both enjoyed our time there & will be calling in again

We had previously visited The Crown before we moved to the area and thought how lovely it would be for it to be our local! Now we live here, we couldn’t wish for more. As we are only 2 minutes away by car, we have not had one bad meal here, always a varied menu, always friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble. Such a comfy cosy atmosphere, and feel just as welcome if we just call in for a drink. Love bringing family to this lovely traditional country pub.

We were staying at The Old Bakery opposite and were informed that the Crown served food.We arrived shortly after 8,30pm on Friday evening to be told curtly that the last orders for food were taken 5 minutes before. Although not empty the Inn was not busy and to turn away 3 covers on a Friday night!!Not good for business

We have been here now on 5 occasions and has mixed results. Today was the worst! We arrived for a 4pm booking And had to wait whilst the waitress cleaned a sticky bar Mat off the terribly sticky table, we were booked in and it wasn’t busy so why want it ready? - we have sat here before and the table needs sanding and sealing as was sticky all over and most uncomfortable to sit at, we all had to put napkins down to enable arms to be placed there! Ordered some drinks at bar and asked for an additional drink once designated driver joined us - it didn’t arrive - it was 30 minutes later when they came to take food order ! (No one appeared before then despite restaurant emptying and staff grouped chatting behind bar!) Ordered food and it took a good hour to arrive (Sunday roasts on a Sunday can’t be that hard!) - beef fatty and not remotely reminiscent of description on menu! Dinner eaten — WE WERE LEFT OVER HALF AN HOUR WITH EMPTY PLATES AND FOOD DEBRIS - IN FACT ONLY HAD TABLE SERVICE WHEN WE GOT UP AND ASKED FOR IT My Daughter in law went to the bar and she was given perfunctory answers to questions about desserts. And had to ask the group of barmaids to come clear the table and take orders for desserts, they did somewhat reluctantly and then took a further forty minutes to provide dessert. The excuse was there was another table of 4 ! The attitude of the blonde lady with glasses verged on rude and challenging ! The “pavlova” on arrival 40 minutes later was tinned fruit with a piece of meringue on top! The custard on the treacle tart and sticky toffee was cold! Despite spending £175! Not good enough and wouldn’t treat your mum here suspect anyone could cook or warm up and present better! Before Xmas - had Sunday lunch for 2 at about 2pm all was good - great good fast service nothing to write home about but ok...February has supper for 6 - fantastic .. great food service and attentiveness.2 other occasions like this ? So what’s happened (happening?) - there are limited restaurants where I live, and this one is currently crossed off the list! If I could be assured I would get the service and quality of the Saturday evening in Feb I may come back but I will not be wasting money without assurances.

Relaxed, cosy, friendly knowledgable staff. Great menu, found it hard to choose! Went with a chicken pie and was reaaally pleased, such beautiful pastry! Scrumptious ice cream and scoffed a couple of mouthfuls of my friend’s apple crumble which was SO delicious. Shame we aren’t more local as it would be nice to pop in more regularly.

We booked dinner here as we were staying at the Old Bakery B&B for a night to watch a football match the following day. On arrival, we were given a warm welcome and shown to our table. The décor is amazing with so much to look at! Our candlelit table was lovely, in a really nice location at the far end of the restaurant. The menu was superb, with something to suit every taste. When the food arrived, it certainly did not disappoint - not only was it very well presented, it tasted amazing too! Our waitress was delightful and made us feel really at home.I am gluten and lactose intolerance so I called them beforehand to make them aware of this so the chef created me the most amazing dinner I have ever had in a pub. The flavours were absolute amazing, I could have had 2nd and 3rd servings. Thank you Would recommend the crown to anyone, top quality food at a very reasonable price. We live in London so I am gutted this is not our local as I would be in here every night.

Lovely setting and even has a resident ghost who sits by the inglenook. Very warm and inviting and they allow well behaved dogs. The food is tasty and well presented, my only criticism is the small portion of vegetables I was served with my main meal. Literally one stalk of cauliflower, two potatoes and three carrots! This is not a "pile it high" establishment but in fairness I do not think this is their intention.

Well we can’t review the breakfast as we were literally 1 minute late and were told breakfast had finished !!! Gentleman was quite rude to be honest telling us that we had missed it and they were now onto lunch menu. Honestly 1 minute over ! So they missed out on our custom and we went elsewhere. We visited here to celebrate our anniversary. Polite, friendly, service within the restaurant and all of our requests were met with a smile. Both lunch mains and desserts were appealing, tasty and plentiful. Atmosphere within was friendly, although the pub was busy. We would definitely visit again. Thank you.
