We wanted to say what a wonderful place this is. We often go in and are always made to feel so welcomed and valued. On this partular occasion.my family and I went in after we had just been to to register my husband death. Lindsay the manager knew instantly that something had happened. The compassion and care she showed us gives me faith in humanity. The small gesture of having g coffee on the house will never be forgotten.

A Hidden Gem Discovered – We’ll Be Back! We’ve lived in Nottingham for 24 years and can’t believe it’s taken us this long to find The Dog House in Kimberley – but wow, what a find! From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel completely at home. The staff were exceptionally friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and even our dog Margaret was treated like royalty with her very own bowl of chicken and veg! We both had the roast beef, which was absolutely top-notch. It came with a massive Yorkshire pudding and all the proper trimmings – crispy roast potatoes, fluffy mash, stuffing balls, a pig in blanket, perfectly roasted carrots and parsnips, and the most indulgent cauliflower cheese. It all came with a generous jug of rich, delicious gravy that brought everything together beautifully. It’s rare to find somewhere that gets both the food and the vibe just right – but The Dog House nailed it. Friendly, hearty, and full of charm. We’ll definitely be back (and so will Margaret!).

Had my usual Crossroads Breakfast. 2 lovely sausages, 2 back bacon, beautifully fried egg, beans, tomatoes, hash brown, black pudding and 2 slices toast. Cup of tea in with the price. Great quality sausages, bacon and black pudding. Everything else cooked to perfection and nice and hot. Fast friendly service and very nice staff. The best value breakfast in Chesterfield. The dinners are great value too. Never had a bad meal or service in the years I've been going in. Thank you! 🙂😋😘

I usually enjoy every meal at Gannets for its freshness and the friendly staff. However yesterday I had a feta quiche and for some reason had cubes of beetroot in it which were tasteless and spoiled the taste and texture of the quiche. Might I suggest to not use the beetroot in future.

The restaurant itself is accessible, providing you don’t need to use any facilities (toilets). If you’re in a wheelchair then you can forget it. After a lovely meal I needed to use the toilet before we left as we had a 40 min drive back home. But there was no disabled/accessible toilet. My partner highlighted this to the staff and the manager came. She asked me if I wanted to use the gents! She said she would block it off for me. For context I am a young women. It’s unsafe for me without using grabrails. I ended up having to travel half a mile away and use some dark and dingy disabled toilets up the road!

A Tuesday walk group, part of the Leicestershire Footpath Association. We were warmly welcomed, seated as a group in a separate dining area and served promptly. The menu was good and the food very tasty. We will definitely return and will recommend to other walking groups. Thank you, new management team !
