Went for a walk along the Marina to Attenborough and back. Popped in the cafe for something to eat. Very friendly establishment. I had double egg, chips, bread and butter and a tea. Went down well. Thank you Tony and staff.

I came here with my son (4 months), niece and nephew (4 and 6). The value for money is fantastic. For £10 we had an adult meal, two kids meals, a cup of tea and two soft drinks. The food was fresh and tasty. The atmosphere in the cafe is like a home from home so it’s a great place for everyone. The owner was so friendly and even gave the children some of his granddaughter’s old toys to play with and take home! I definitely recommend.

I decided to try this place at 09:20 today. I tried to open the main door gently but it appeared to be locked. A lady who worked there told me to pull the door handle down more and pull. My first guess was right as it was still locked. Id never have pulled the door accept I was advised to do so. The proprietor called Tony started shouting at me for pulling the door and wouldn't listen. Arrogant and rude despite what some locals claim. It was meant to be open at 9am and the entrance was locked. He needs to learn to act calmer and try and listen. I guess he doesn't need the business. I headed into Nottingham instead and will be telling the local business where my car is being upgraded not to recommend. I don't like being shouted at and won't stand for such treatment. He was still shouting in the kitchen when I left. I guess he likes to have the last word and can't handle someone standing up to him Stop shouting and open on time, or don't serve breakfast at all! No-one wishes to pull the entrance door so tell your colleague not to give such advice.

Stayed at a hotel nearby, found this by accident for a spot of breakfast and it was wonderful! Tasty food, big portions for really reasonable price, felt very homely and welcoming. Takes card but would prefer cash! The owner was so delightful and friendly! Gem of a place.

Although this cafe isn't a smart, plush Starbucks etc, it more than makes up for it with very reasonable prices and the banter from the owner (you'll never get the last word in). I visited today with a group of cyclists and we were really well looked after. My sausage cob was big, filled with well cooked sausage...and I've tried many on my rides. Definitely be back. 😁

One of my favourite places to walk or cycle to for an all day vegetarian breakfast. Cheap, cheerful and friendly, with reliably good food. The toilets are basic but functional, there's books you can read, and seating indoor and out overlooking the river. I love sitting watching the birds here.

Such a lovely place that's run by lovely people!!! What can I say Tony is probably the most welcoming person I've met for a long time. He has a back in the day manner about him and instantly makes you feel welcome as soon as you step foot in the door. The cafe has some very beautiful views, with indoor and outdoor seating to pick from. The cafe itself has such a cosy feel to it, almost warm and filled with so many sentimental items. The food was great and you can actually get a decent cup of tea here unlike so many cafes. Will deffinately be visiting again.

Pre-booked afternoon tea: Upon arrival the cakes and sandwiches were set out on the table ready along with glasses and tea cups. The owner greeted us and was very friendly and busy. A lovely lady saw to us and made sure our pot of tea was brought straight out along with orange juice and water with orange slices in it. There were 4 different flavours on the 🥪 of meat, egg and tuna (we'll eat anything) We were looked after, and the lovely lady that saw to us even brought out some extra macarons for my toddler who was tucking onto one and the fresh strawberries. The cream tea itself was beautifully presented. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and there was a welcoming atmosphere with a clear regular couple popping in as well. I would definitely recommend the place for value for money and a friendly relaxed feel where you aren't being rushed out. Although the weather was grim, there was a good flow of people ordering all sorts and we were 1 of 3 of the afternoon teas for the day so that speaks for itself!!

Lovely location on the river. It's a bit of a greasy spoon which is fine if you like that sort of thing. We had fish n chips which was breadcrumbed flakes of fish, was a bit grim which is such a shame as the location on the river is nice. Good coffee stop if you're passing but I wouldn't go out of my way to find this again

We were travelling and spent the night near Kegworth. We searched for open cafes early in the morning and drove over 40 minutes, in the wrong direction for our journey, to find the most welcoming, interesting and friendly host Tony and his staff. Definitely one of the best breakfasts we have had and we’ve had a lot on our travels! Top rated food and a first class service. Well done and thank you! Portsmouth and Brazil 😀

First time down at the Boathouse! Greeted by a lovely host who turned out to be the Owner! Very friendly staff who are always around to help, followed by a quick turn around in food being prepared. When the food did reach our cutlery, it was a classic taste of a home cooked all day breakfast, couldn’t ask for more! The cafe is filled with memorabilia, books, local information and lots of causes being done for charity! The cafe lays on the edge of the river, looking over into the surrounding countryside and surrounding wildlife! Will definitely be back again soon on a warm summers afternoon! Thanks x

The owner are very friendly but the all place needs a renovation and a good deep clean and they should have proper cups and change the cold drinks with can or 500ml closed bottle, they could do nice home made products instead of shop brought from tesco products and have a variety of home made cakes and scones. If this places changes few things could be a really nice place.

Beeston born and bred, but never been to this fabulous super friendly and family feel cafe. Budget is good for someone with a small income and the prices are fair but the food is on point, and I have to admit I wanted to pay for two breakfasts just for myself. Freshly cooked and toast was amazing, not hard or cold but warm, soft and exquisite. Have to admit the owner Tony is warm, professional and above & beyond. Customer Service second to none and I hate to say this I cannot find a fault with anything except I want more menu choice - BIGGER BREAKFAST PLEASE.

I have called into this cafe on a regular basis over the last couple of months. This was mainly whilst waking through the nature reserve. It is in an ideal spot to take a break for a cup/mug of tea and a snack or meal. The food is varied with main meals, breakfasts and scones/cakes etc. (the home made gluten free lemon meringue is excellent). Tony, Sandy and staff are very obliging and nothing is too much trouble. Lots of local people pop into the cafe and the history of the Rylands is depicted on the walls which is often a focus for friendly conversations. Runners, cyclists, walking groups all frequent the cafe and on busy occasions a short wait may be necessary, but it is well worth a visit whilst in the area.

Great atmosphere and friendly faces of the cafe staff make this a must-visit place. The food is all freshly cooked and usually to your own liking. The idyllic setting on the side of the river Trent at Beeston also add to the attraction of the cafe. A friendly face and good food are all served on a daily basis. The service is good with everything being freshly cooked to order and they are all good value.

Came for a lunch and was very disappointed. I had chorizo hash dish that wasn’t chorizo it was fried luncheon meat or something certainly not chorizo. The taste was awful tasted of burnt plastic. No hash just bits of potatoes and a couple of rocket leaves sat in loads of oil in a dirty skillet dish. My husband ordered toast and peanut butter served to him without a knife. A tiny thimble of peanut butter and over priced. I requested some salt and was brought an empty salt cellar. One more thing my tea was served with a badly cracked cup very unhygienic and dangerous if it fell apart. Over priced food that was pretty awful and not what it was claiming to be. Service very poor although polite but still. Didn’t complain as we didn’t choose to eat there and didn’t want to cause a fuss. Had I been on my own I would have demanded my money to be refunded.
