Nice little pub. Small inside with little headroom in places which adds to its character. Nice friendly staff. Prices on par with others (around £6.10 for lager and a bag of salted nuts).

Staff can't take a joke tried to have a laugh with everyone and got told to shut up or get out

Very quiet but it was Thursday lunch time Food was excellent Soft drinks as I was driving but looked like a great choice of beers I will catch the bus next time!

Used to be a great pub . Now it takes 30 mins to get served . Beer not as good as it used to be . Staff are friendly but very slow at serving. Food good Phil the chief knows his stuff .

Absolutely fantastic, quaint and very welcoming. Lovely food and staff, great choice of beverages. Me and the kids enjoyed watching the England matches on the massive outdoor TV under a marquee.

Love my local pub great service especially Jordan who is always cheerful and nothing is a problem. Highly recommend.

Stopped in for a working lunch and the food was great! Generous portion sizes, efficient service and the beer garden was an added bonus. Will definitely be returning.

Had the Thursday Special - 2 sirloin steaks (other cuts are available to choose), with sauces and a bottle of wine for £40. It was cooked perfectly and good value. We’ve eaten here several times and never had a bad meal. Good selection of beers too

A warm, friendly atmosphere in a quaint pub. Bar staff are extremely helpful. Food, I had pie of the day with homemade chips. Pie was homemade steak and ale. It was amazing. I only gave food 4 stars as for me, there wasn't enough but in reality I am a big eater and especially when it comes to tasty food!! My wife had a dish from the small plate menu. When it came, there was plenty for her and it wasn't expensive either. Price wise, beer and food wasn't the cheapest and nowhere near whetherspoons low prices, but get what you pay for. So yeah, it's a little pricey, but you do pay for quality. Definitely be going again. Edit, changed food rating to 5 stars as its not their fault I am a big eater.

I turned up late, totally missed the food order but thankfully portions were large and my wife couldn’t finish her bangers and mash. Sausage - good. Mash - good. Price - good. Atmosphere - good! So nice to see pubs that haven’t been gentrified by family restaurant type breweries still alive and kicking. Beer garden is nice too and we heard there are plans to improve further. We’ll definitely come back for lunch soon.

We have been here many times before and it has always been good, today it was a disaster.We were booked for 15.00, we were finally seated at 16.10, orders were taken straight away, food arrived at 16.50 food was cold items were missing from the meals, waitress said that they would reduce the bill, there was 7 of of us, 4 decided to go elsewhere. the 3 that stayed had the bill reduced by 50%, there was no apology, and the service was below par. Front of house staff were ok, they obviously had a problem in the kitchen.

Went for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday. Booked table 3pm didnt get seated till gone 3.30. No food till gone 4pm even though only thing on the menu was Sunday lunch. Meat was nice but veg hard and whole meal lukewarm. Asked for dessert menu but girl went off doing other stuff so asked another waitress who brought menu but although we sat for another 20 mins no one came to take our order so knocked it on the head. Told them we were not happy so charged us only for meals not drinks. Family at table next to us sent meals back as cold & veg hard - they ended up walking out. Not much of a birthday treat and won't be going back again.

I have not been to the White Lion for a few years and remember it for it's excellent steaks but this visit was for Sunday Lunch. The Sunday lunch menu is limited to mainly traditional roasts so you don't have to agonize over decision making. The food is very good, tasty, well cooked and plenty of it and outstanding value for money. The service is helpful and friendly and the beer well kept. The pub is light and airy and there is a vibrant clientele. There is a reasonable sized car park that fills quickly but you can park on the road close by. I'd forgotten how goo the White Lion is and I'll be going back there for a steak soon.

Went yesterday for Sunday lunch and was vey impressed. Beautifully laid out with nice clean lines. The food was outstanding, home made with latge portions, well cooked and all the small touches that made the presentation memorable. The atmospere was friendly and relaxing and we will definitely be visiting again

We went to the lion for Sunday lunch as we always get our meat from Barlows butchers. As soon as I walked in I was disappointed by the look of the pub and the smell.. the lunch was lovely and the meat was tender but some of us got cabbage and some of us didn’t!?! I had apple crumble for dessert and that was absolutely awful no taste whatsoever and not sure if the apple had been previously frozen but there was no taste.

Tried here on Saturday lunchtime very friendly staff nice surroundings but not impressed with food lunch time menu for £6 50 very small portions I'd say they would be a child's helping and very shocked at the price of the desserts £5 95 p I eat out a lot and have never come across such an expensive dessert menu on that basis we probably won't be going back again

We went for a large family meal and every thing went perfect, the staff were excellent,polite, friendly, the food was cooked to perfection, and I would recommend a visit but you would need to book in advance ,

My wife and I went to the White Lion Brinsley for a meal on the evening of the 14 Feb and had a very enjoyable meal consisting of ribeye steak cooked just as we ordered it the side dishes were excellent the bottle of wine was very reasonably priced and we finished with two very enjoyable desserts and liqueur coffee.I can truly say that we had an excellent meal in pleasant surroundings and very good service.

Had the very best Sunday lunch there today ,the dinner was very very tasty beef and the turkey dinner both excellent .Five of us really enjoyed our stay and the cornflake tart went down well .I took my son and family and they were amazed at the value for money.We will all be going again.

I’m a regular who has my Sunday roasts here most weeks, whilst it’s always nice, this week it was exceptional, whatever you’ve done differently I hope it continues. The gravy was made properly with meat juices, the cauliflower cheese had more sauce and Much tastier and the Yorkshire puddings were the best I’ve had.

Went to the lion for lunch. Great food great service. Local butcher Scott Barlow supplies the meat that they use. Good price nice atmosphere. Not overly busy for a Saturday lunch. Limited menu but as this pub is not on a main road it gets a good deal of customers

We went to the Lion last night, we had booked it a month in advance as it had been recommended. We had to pre order the food as it was xmas which was fine. When we got there at 5pm (not busy) we were told that the Pate we had pre ordered a month ago was not available as they had run out! They offered to go to the butchers to get some more or we could change it for something else. There were 9 of us and 2 had ordered Pate - we changed it for Ribs but were told they were unavailable so almost an hour later the Pate arrived with the rest of the starters. My Mum ordered the Christmas dinner main course which we had to send back - veg not cooked and meat looked like it was actually cooked and left to dry since a week ago. 4 Steaks were all over cooked - all asked for medium rare and they were all well done. Finally we order 3 ice creams - fairly straight forward you would think - 30 minutes later someone behind the bar was putting the cream on top. We spent a lot of money here for Greene King standards at best where we would have saved half the cost. The Badger Box is better and that's saying something.

Well, we went for a family meal, the staff were accommodating, the food wasn’t bad, nice meat, well cooked. Range of ales left allot to be desired but.... However, when you go into a toilet at 7pm you don’t expect to see a lavatory covered in vomit and punters snorting coke openly! Especially when you take a 6 year old in with you!

Came in for steak night meal was top notch now waiting for pudding yum yum will come again customer service excellent cheesecake was awesome looking forward to the festive menu

Siempre he disfrutado nuestras visitas aquí. La comida de hoy era preciosa y la camarera muy amable y acogedora. Lamentablemente, la comida se echó a perder porque el lugar estaba helada. ! Literalmente estaba temblando y me tomó dos horas descongelarme cuando llegamos a casa. ¿Que esta pasando? ? Otro revisor tuvo el mismo problema hace 5 días. Necesita ordenar o perderá clientes habituales.

I went on a walk with my friend Andrew and we finished up in the White Lion in Brinsley on a Saturday afternoon. Think it has recently been refurbished and it's certainly very smart and comfortable. Andrew had a soft drink and I had a coffee. I was impressed.

Just wanted to say we visited this cute little pub for a Friday night steak . The meal was beautiful and the service was excellent. We booked our table for 6pm but was so busy chatting we didn’t order for ages , we were never rushed or harassed in any way. The restaurant manager Bekki is so polite and kind efficient and the food is a very reasonable price . Loved it

Visited on a Monday night after work for a quick drink and maybe get something to eat and so glad we did.

We have been wanting to go here for ages for a Sunday lunch after being recommended. I am sorrry to say that it was very disappointing. The food was luke warm and the gravy was really thin and again tepid.

Couldn’t recommend the lion at Brinsley more for outside catering 5* service and food which made a difficult day easier. Thank you to all the staff you are fabulous and I’ll definitely be booking you for happier occasions hopefully in the future

Really good food at superb prices, what a shame we live 120 miles away! The staff are very accommodating as we booked in for an evening meal at the last minute but we were made very welcome by the young lady who was serving in the restaurant on Thurs 26th. She is a credit to the White Lion, so well done (sorry we did not get her name)

My first visit and well worth it.Staff very friendly and I love the drinks being brought to you when eating.There is a lovely garden on the back.Toilets nice and clean.Good impressions all round.The toilets are ok for disabled too.We all had defferant meals and they were all excelant.A varied menu so not disappointing.I was undecided but decided to go with one of the burgers.If there was 1 gripe I prefer my food on a plate not on what my burger came on.There is nowhere to eat your food as the chips in a basket ,onion rings, burger in a bun,coleslaw and sauce all come together on the slate type of thing not leaving a lot of room to eat.

Had fillet steak, never fails to impress, the staff are the best part of my experience service is always with a smile 😍

we had great expectations for this pub restaurant after good reviews but oh so disappointing. very busy when we arrived and good atmosphere. A long wait before food arrived, starter of spare ribs not cooked properly, complained and starter changed for soup no flavour tasteless, vegetables under cooked, pie over cooked.chunky chips more like wedge's could have been cut in half and still classed as chunky chips needed cooking a bit longer to brown up.in fairness' was not charge for one starter and a bottle of wine but little consolation the night was a disappointment.

Was here with the wife for lunch and then a few days later for dinner. In both cases the food was very good, as was the beer and the service. It’s always a good choice the multiple times we’ve been.

We have been recommended to come here for Sunday lunch and not got round to it before now. I am so pleased that we did, it was delicious! Very hearty and warming, will definitely come again and recommend to others.

Ate here last night and yes they were really busy but although service was okay we could not say that about the food.Portobello mushroom with goats cheese starter ok but what was the tomato sauce bit meant to be ? It was like the juice out of tinned tomatoes , just awful and didn’t compliment the other ingredients at all. Lamb shank main was well over priced , hardy any meat , dreadful gravy , no flavour ,the chunky red cabbage was revolting , and the mash was luke warm and nondescript. The fish and chips were disappointing , the batter on the fish was burnt , fish over cooked but the chips were ok if a bit too chunky. Sea bass was the best thing we ate but the so called sauté potatoes were actually boiled new potatoes , they hadn’t seen a sauté pan that evening. We would not recommend or return , this place has delusions of grandeur about its restaurant status , completely wrong !!!

We have eaten at the White Lion a couple of times before and had booked a table to meet friends when I read Isabel’s review. Having never had a bad meal there we were happy to continue with the booking. Delighted that we did, the meal was excellent and easily up to the normal high standard we have always found here.

I don’t normally write a review but I make exceptions when it’s well deserved... I’ve been here for food on numerous occasions and never had a bad meal yet. The food is top quality, all homemade, and the staff are so friendly, attentive and professional .. first class food with first class service..

So disappointed used to be the most amazing food but the food the service and the ambience all gone down hill. The steak was tough the chunky chips hard and the service a disgrace. Had to wait an hour for the food to come out and had to go up to the bar to order the drinks. The tables where covered in felt tip when paying well over £60 for a meal at least put a table cloth on the table. The staff didn’t care that the food was nearly unedible and was young and more interested in flirting with he local chavs. So disappointed as I have reccommended this place to many people will be advising not to avoid from now now!

Absolutly fantastic food, great service would highly recommend served 30+ quests that was with our party without any issues all at the same time. Brilliant friendly staff. Thank you for hosting our daughter and future son in laws engagement meal x

The Brinsley White Lion is in the village where I live so it’s a place I’ve visited quite regularly!

It was our first meal here at the lion and we wasnt disappointed we was made very Welcome such friendly staff the meal was to die for our steaks was the best we have tasted in a long time it was perfect from starter to dessert we would highly recomend a visit u wont be disapointed

this is a lovely and very busy pub.we had never been before but our friends had so we had a meal.we all had a sunday dinner with different meats.the meat was lovely.the rest was a bit dissapointing especially the veg which was aldente which i know is how a lot of places cook but me and my partner both had some raw veg.I like it cooked all the way through and this alone would put me off having another meal here especially as it's not cheap

Great place to meet up with friends and family. Fantastic menu, pleasant, helpful staff and all good home-cooked food. So refreshing to have chips the way you want them. The burger stacks looks amazing coming out of the kitchen - I'll be trying next time for sure!!
