Disgusting cold food uncooked meat dry veg worst meal ever

Basic food basic menu , a poorly lit dinning area very small portions ( ex..bread and olives 🫒) I small piece of bread cut into 3 bits ? Definitely a local pub for locals . Hugely disappointed. And got directly asked if I wanted to leave a TIP . Just rude .

Honestly the best place ever the garden is amazing! The staff are so helpful and always smiling. Always felt welcome even though I am not a local to the the pub.

We were looked after for two nights last week by the lovely elle - really bright enthusiastic host - had food on both occasions and some good beer whilst we watch the Euros - really really lovely pub with really likeable locals would highly recommend. Thanks to Jennie as well who organised the comms via the Email booking

Went for Sunday lunch and the food was amazing. The variety and cooking of the vegetables were great too, really tasty and cooked to perfection. Couldn't fault it. The pub is amazingly clean too. The staff were very attentive and super friendly.

This is what all village pubs should be . Absolutely the hub of the village , buzzing atmosphere, fantastic friendly service and the food was absolutely divine. The best beef bourginon I have ever had ! Melt in the mouth beef and rich sumptuous flavours. We enjoyed it so much we have booked to go again next week with friends ! Thank you 😊

What a letdown! The service was appalling from beginning to the end. Unacceptable Some of our meals were good others not so good. Parts of my dish were hot and cold.. Definitely wouldn't return.

I like quality food and Ialso like value for money and was not disappointed here. Ordered the Sunday roast sharing platter for me and my partner and was presented with a very good quality and plentiful platter of chicken breast,roast beet (cooked to perfection) and large pork belly strips with buttered carrots, cabbage, parsnip, roast potatoes and homemade Yorkshire puddings, gravy and sauces all served with a genuine smile. So good I went back two weeks later with more family. Well done the White Horse.

Lovely place and nice atmosphere

Long weekend away here again with our two little shitzus. The moment we walked into the pub we were made to feel welcome by the staff and the locals. Hayley was absolutely wonderfully friendly the four days we were there. On Sunday there was a tribute day to a guy who had recently passed away, it looked like the whole village turned out, an absolute credit to the people that live here. The staff worked their socks off that day. I was humbled to have a few pints and listen to the band and speak to a few the locals. Thank you so much to Hayley and the staff and the people of Welton.

Having been both a manager and an Area manager for country Pub Companies for over 30 years until recently. I have however been accused by my family and friends of being overly critical of our meals out . Well not today . We visited the White Horse for Sunday Lunch . The food was extremely good and freshly prepared with good quality produce. The Sunday roast plater for two was outstanding with good portions for all the dishes . Don’t expect a large menu but what they do have on the menu is done extremely well . We were never made to feel rush as is often the case in Pubs on a Sunday Lunch The stand out points are the managers and team . The managers were actually working the shift on the bar/ tables and the Kitchen with their team . Not something you see a lot of in the managed pub chains anymore . This team showed a real sense of pride in their Pub and what a true Village pub should be to their community. We will be returning soon - We’ll Done and thank you

Fantastic country pub, hidden away in the Northamptonshire countryside. There was food Great choice of food and drinks, super friendly staff and nothing seemed to be too much of an issue! The sharing platter for Sunday lunch is amazing, give it a try and you won’t be disappointed. 🥂🥂👍👍👍👍

A lovely country pub. We are a walking group and these guys were very happy to alter their opening hours to accomodate 16 of us for lunch. Lovely customer service arranging our booking and on arrival. Definitely recommend them if you have an event in mind

We stayed in the cottage next door for four days with our little dogs. The pub is dog friendly and the staff and locals were really friendly and welcoming. beer was excellent and well priced. great quiz on the Sunday, lots of fun.

Not often I do reviews but had to say something about the meal on Saturday lunchtime. I ordered the Welton Burger and for £16 I was expecting something maybe a little special. Unfortunately it was probably the worst burger I've ever had. An ok burger wedged between 2 soggy bits of bun, burnt piece of bacon and some onion. Rest of the plate loaded with hard fries. Kids had fries with nuggets... and wife's mushroom bruschetta .. totally unappealing. I was so enjoying the outdoor garden, beer, right up until the food turned up. Won't be back again.

Disappointed Danny has left as the meal we had was average. Below average steak quality, I wouldn’t rush back. I think the chef has more to offer but not tonight!

I had been reading a lot on Facebook about the pub and the quality of the food on offer. So when my partner suggested an impromptu Sunday lunch I suggested The White Horse. I called to check they would still be serving as time was getting on. I booked a table for 3.30pm. We arrived and were met by very friendly staff who got us drinks and showed us to our table. I had intended to try the new Trio of meats sharing board which had been publicised on Facebook, however it transpires that it had “blown up” and sold out in hours. Also, they were out of beef and Yorkshire puddings. Could have been disappointing but we are both realistic people and understand we had booked last minute and late in the day, the weather was also fantastic so a lot of folks were out and about. The waitress offered us steak in place of beef. When we had asked about the sharing board she asked the kitchen what they could do and they were able to offer some pork belly, which my partner had, I took the steak. We shared bread and olives to start, with some halloumi fries. My partner says they were the best she had ever had. Both dishes were delicious. The main courses were equally delicious. I particularly enjoyed the red cabbage and cauliflower, the pork was moist and sweet, the steak tender. We very much enjoyed our experience and will be back very soon, though we will plan better, book earlier and will give a review on the Trio of meats sharing board very soon. Looking forward to it already. Highly recommended.

Only five mains on the menu. Only 10 people in the restaurant. Fish arrived uncooked so returned. Another piece of fish arrived but original chips had been re-fried. Fish still soggy! Beef pie had huge amounts of whole peppercorns in with a tiny amount of mash and one piece of broccoli. The pastry was inedible. All in all, a terrible experience for £57 !

Group of friends went for Sunday roast, absolutely incredible food! Delicious, nice atmosphere. Only criticism is the menu’s weren’t bought out quickly enough but can’t fault anything else. Would 100% recommend, food portion was great and the food was the best I have had eating out in the last year.

Full disclosure time....yes its my local & yes I want to see local business thrive. First visit since new ownership. Went for Sunday lunch. The food is just absolutely exquisite! The beef was deliciously succulent. Could eat it all day long! 😋 Desserts were brilliant too. The White Horse is the centre for village life and the atmosphere when you walk in is just lovely. Forgot to mention...the table service was awesome as well. Well played new management team. Great food Danny Thompkins Chef. My only tiny tiny criticism...mains portion sizes could have been an incywincy bit bigger! 😉

Visited tonight as Danny Tompkins who's an excellent chief was having an opening night. The food was so good. I had the rib eye steak it was cooked to perfection. The place had a lovely vibe. Will definitely return.

As a skittles team player that visits when we have a game here it always feels disappointing with food served. The first game we had here was sausages and chips but there wasn't enough food served and the home team went hungry. This time there are only cold bland white sandwiches and we have 3 celiacs on our team. Out of all of the team games it's the most disappointing catering and I feel bad for how many on our team went hungry. We weren't even given plates for the sandwiches, the home team here seemed so embarrassed about it. Doesn't make me want to come back as a customer outside of our matches even though the pub actually seems rather pleasant and seems to have good food and reviews. It's really a shame.

A village pub that's well worth a visit , great hosts great beer and the food looked luvly to , although I didn't eat

Good pub with bar, lounge and restaurant areas indoors. Lovely beer garden, and sheltered patio area outside. Cosy log burners for the winter too. Several hand pumps with well kept beers for those of us who like Real Ale, though only one pump that changes regularly. Some great locally produced Cider on offer too. Food in the restaurant is usually very tasty. Sunday roast is well worth it. The place can get quite lively on a Friday and Saturday night, with Live music regularly during the summer. But the locals, regulars, and staff are all pretty friendly. Does have Wi-fi, occasionally shows sport (in the bar only). They have a skittles table and dart board if you fancy chuckin' some cheeses or throwing some arrows. 10 minute walk from the canal - far better option than walking the other way towards Daventry towns pubs.

Down from Bristol visiting family - came here for a few drinks - lovely place with lovely young lady behind bar - polite and attentive to customers - well done.

We are regular visitors to the “White Horse” in Welton and thought it was about time we left a review . The landlords Simon and Margaret always make us feel very welcome and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The bar and waiting staff are also very attentive. The food is excellent and there is always a great selection of beers, ciders and real ales. They have a pretty garden and outdoor seating area, which is beautifully well maintained With lots of bushes and stunning pots.

Lovely place! Cask beer very well kept, great Sunday lunch and food eaten on another night (we went twice in a week). Friendly staff. Recommend.
