Michaels Golden Chippy in Daventry

We ordered a saveloy and chips and a chicken kebab and chips, all fresh and really yummy and hot. Customer service was good and the portion was great. Only thing I would add to make it 5* is if the person cooking wearing a hat/hair/beard net as I was a bit concerned I would find a beard hair in my food(I didn't!)

Ordered a take away this evening they said would be a hour to long Buckby thankfully it came before the hour, the food was hot and very tasty, very happy with the service and the food, highly recommended

Great chips pies that haven’t been put in the microwave and mushy peas that don’t glow in the dark! Looking forward to our next meal!

Michaels Chippy is amazing. Sukki and his team are so professional and polite. The portions are great and the food is proper tasty. Always have a Chicken kebab and the chicken is very flavoursome and the portion is huge. Chips are always tasty. Can't fault them,and they offer delivery also. 💥💥💥💥💥 5 star review. Deffo recommend.

Lovely family ran business, very welcoming and accommodating to fussy children’s requests. Lovely spacious dine in area which saves washing and tidying up! The food was undoubtably the best fish and chips we have had in a long time, piping hot and fresh! Would hugely recommend! We will certainly be retuning, thank you!

Terrible do not place an online order as you don’t get what your order is described as online. We placed a large order for 1/4 beef burgers with bun and lettuce. We received plain buns with a dry beef burger inside. When I raised the complaint I was told that they decide if they put garnish on yet the site says to place a note on the order if you want plain burgers. The notes section was left blank as I did want what was described in the description. Basically told they are right to make the assumption of what I wanted rather than what I actually ordered. Our meal cost over £60 and it is daylight robbery to charge that and not send what was ordered. Avoid!! And I raised a complaint immediately with Uber eats!! I was not offered a replacement as the owner is saying I was. I was told if I order again to ring and she will offer a discount. I refused as I won’t be going there again. And as for the catch 22 comment the description should be changed online to state you only get a bun and the burger. It may just be lettuce to you but when’s it’s detailed on your order you do expect to get it! And I have not slandered your small business I have merely left an honest review. And one which it appears to be very common with a lot of us old customers who were loyal to Michaels for many years. Their food was amazing and never once had to complain. That in itself speaks volumes when there are posts on social media by other customers who too have had a very bad experience with the new owners.

It was to expensive for so little. Paid for X-Large cod but actually was just a regular in size and charged me like £12 The kebab was £11 and was lacking meat.was more chips and salad.could have got a massive one from the kebab house for £8. £2.20 a can of coke seems like a complete rip off.how do they justify charging people double the shop prices. Also stated a free pot of curry sauce for £20 and over:I never received. I paid £37 for a piece of fish ,a tiny kebab 2 sausages and 2 cans of coke….seems extremely unfair to overcharged for mediocre portions

The staff in here are so friendly, the owner is a legend and such a lovely guy. Food was gorgeous and portion size was deffo more than enough. 10/10 will be returning

We had food from Michaels Chippy last night, chips were lovely as usual, the bacon burger tasted amazing and the mixed meat with chips was delicious. Have met the new owners a few times now and are always lovely to speak to. Looking forward to our next visit!

Every vist the staff in general are very nice and the new owner and his family are lovely. The food has been spot on the 12 or so times we've been in since being taken over. Can recommend the slimming chicken box and the Canadian burger, big favourite in our house.

I have been coming here for the last few months all i can say is the fish and chips is amazing crispy on the outside and juicy and soft on the inside, not dry like some of the shops. Ive also tried the chicken kebab and the taste is 10/10. Great food service and the new owners are so welcoming and friendly and really take time to make you feel welcome! Thank you for my supper will definitely be back again next week. Keep up the great work 😊

The best chippy ever! The service is amazing, the new owners have brought some lovely new additions to the classic chippy menu with tasty Indian dishes but still keeping the classic authentic chippy vibe at heart! Just tried Michael’s for the first time since the new takeover, and it was wonderful! I ordered the chicken, rice, and salad, and everything was cooked perfectly. It's great to see some new items on the menu, and the staff were super friendly and polite ❤️ I'll definitely be back again 👊🏾.

It was appalling. We ordered chicken salad £8 it was greasy horrible 2 donner meat chips . Chips were old and cold donner meat salty uneadible The price was unbelievable Never again

Was hoping under new management they could maintain the quality. Unfortunately tonight, the chips were over cooked, poor quality and cold. Savoly was hard over cooked. I hope it’s just a blip and it improves otherwise we will have to go else where. Shame…. Was always excellent.

Not sure what’s gone wrong but this used to be the best chippy around. Last 2 times we’ve been given stale microwaved chips and the staff couldn’t have given a toss. Genuinely worst chips I’ve tasted. Such a shame.

Husband bought home 2 portions of chips, 3 sausages. 2 cans of pop and a curry sauce £20! Chips were hard and not great, curry sauce not as good as previously. £20! Won’t be going back,

Tried this place twice. Both times chips were bloody awful! Can honestly say it's obvious they reheat there chips which isn't great! The curry sauce wasn't real curry sauce.. the curry sauce was corn flower seasoning and some water. Could taste the flour in the sauce. Safe to say thawlers in the square is the better option!!

Probably the best chip shop in Northamptonshire. Crispy batter, fluffy golden chips, tasty peas and curry sauce that’s perfect. Not sure what more you can want from an absolutely perfect chip shop, seating, plenty of parking outside, easy access and some of the most welcoming staff you could ever ask to serve you. If it’s not available they will soon have it sorted for you, great menu with lots of choice and the kebab’s looked amazing so maybe one for our next visit!

I was in the neighbourhood yesterday and it was great to see they are still open and trading post pandemic. I enjoyed a battered jumbo sausage, and devoured a 1/2lb burger and chips. The battered sausage was fresh, juicy but not too watery, and the batter was evenly coating the sausage and evenly cooked. The chips were fluffy and they have always had the beautiful consistency of almost melting in your mouth. Michaels always have had the best chips I have ever tried…. And I’ve tried a lot. The burger was amazing and brought back memories. What I’ve always loved about the burgers at Michael’s, is the feeling that mum could have made it with love for you. And that is what is great about this place. The mum and dad who ran this chippie may have retired, but their sons are there, continuing the tradition. This business has a love of the food they produce, they care about their customers, and are proud of their community. It truly is a hub and when I went in yesterday, even after 5-years nearly, it was great to be recognised and welcomed HOME.

A smashing chippy, where the lovely staff offer friendly cheerful service, bringing the best fish & chips in Daventry town. Highly recommended. This long established family run local establishment also has a wide range of other good value, great tasting dishes from which to choose, lovingly prepared using top quality, fresh ingredients. Since discovering their fish suppers when moving in on Headlands, Michael's has remained a firm favourite with me.

Clean premises. Friendly staff. Excellent food quality. Often very busy therefore sometimes there's a bit of a wait. No hesitation to recommend it.

Burger tasted like processed meat. Very plain, tasted cheap. Meat in kebab was dry. Very disappointed.

Expensive, for what was poor quality food. The service was fine and so to was the atmosphere, typical for a takeaway.

Anemic looking chips, bland mushy peas, very greasy kebab. The dog enjoyed it though. First and last time from here, can't beat sheaf St chippy.

Best fish and chips in Daventry.

Would have liked to give this higher stars but was left disappointed with the kebab I bought the pitta was not cooked properly maybe not long enough even, it was doughy and bread-like on the top the bottom was saturated in grease the meat was soft and chewy like almost on the mush side little to no taste that you expect from the meat felt wrong eating it too be honest so I didn't the salad however was good fresh clean tasty just a shame the rest I can't say the same about not sure I would return ....

Always had great food from here but the last one I ordered was disgusting had more bits of batter and black eyes in the chips, fish was that greasy couldn't taste anything apart from the grease, battered sausage had hardly any batter and kebab had no salad really disappointed, unsure whether I'll order again now ☹

Definitely the best chippy in Daventry, if not perfect. I was a little disappointed last time I went that I waited a long time for my order, then got home to find out the salt and vinegar I'd asked for hadn't been added to my chips and the gravy I'd paid for was missing from my order. Chicken isn't great, but the fish and chips are the best you'll get for miles around. They've also done us great deals in the past on bulk ordering for around 50 people and really delivering out of their way.

Never let me down with quality and taste. Just picked up another meal for the family, it travelled 8 miles and was still absolutely spot on! The girlfriends burger.. amazing, the kids homemade chicken curry and rice... amazing, and my fillet chicken meat and chips with salad and hot sauce.... amazing! I have been going here for over 10 years. Top service, always made to feel welcome. Tip: Modify your king size hot dog with some extras!

Great food, but shocked to say the least, that 6 members of staff behind the counter at one time, not one was wearing a mask. Sorry to say, the food is the best, but I will not be visiting again during these times. Another localish chippy were issued fines for not wearing a mask. Really should address this.

First time visiting as not from the area, the best chippy I have had, the food is as faultless. very quick service and polite staff. Will definitely visit again!!!!

Got the plaice in a bread roll and it was incredibly oily. The bottom half was disgusting and it was completely soaked with dark oil and the fish, while crunchy, had pockets of oil in the batter.

I went there early evening and there was no queue so was served very fast. Chip portions are very tasty and generous in size. Fish was also proper 'fish' you would expect from Fish & Chips shop.

Staff don’t wear masks cooking and serving. I would expect with way things are that staff preparing food should be wearing a mask and gloves. Very little protection to customers from staff. Won’t be going again.

Came in drenched as I work door to door. The staff were very obliging, allowed me to sit in for a coffee to warm up (even with the pandemic!) Great service and very friendly people. Good food on top of that too. Can't lose here! 😍😍😍

Excellent fish and chips. Our first one since lockdown. Never had a bad meal. Staff really friendly.

Use this chippy about once a month and am always surprised by the quality of the food. would recommend to anyone.
