The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

Had a great evening here in the restaurant (I recommend booking the restaurant as it was busy midweek) then in the bar. Some great cask ales on tap and an excellent menu. Staff were great and we had an excellent meal (ribeye & steak pie were both really good. Ignore the recent poor review, we only experienced great service and food. Our experience was a great meal served by friendly staff, who then invited is to join the pub quiz in the bar (which we did). A great night. We will return.

A friend of mine suggested I went with him to see what I thought of an eatery he had found. On Easter Saturday we ventured to Paul's. I am a doddery old bloke and was delighted when the young lady who greeted us went to considerable lengths to make sure I could safely negotiate to the bar area and get seated. Our drinks and menues were soon with us and I was spoilt for choice, and delighted. When the food was ready she took the same care leading me down to a well appointed and spotless room with a very pleasant feel to it. I had opted for the pork,apple and black pudding on bubble and squedk and I certainly ended up squeaking with pleasure at taste and texture. I had to try Paul,s pannacotta for pud and it was a fantastic end to lunch with a cup of fresh coffee and a chocolate to send me out as a very happy old man. To sum up everything was first class from start to finish and I cannot wait to go back to try the lambs liver.

Atmosphere very sombre, hard to have conversation due to it being very silent. Service very slow, felt like I was a child being told when to go for the carvery. All staff including managers don't know how to provide service with a smile, very miserable. Cutlery blunt, struggled to cut through especially the very tough beef, gravy was like water and the cauliflower cheese needed armbands as the sauce was also very runny, possibly powdered. Plates are tiny and can't fit much on, Toby carvery is definitely a better option. Also only accepts card, wanted to split the bill and that seemed like a chore

Incredible scotch eggs but selection of beer disappointing. Friendly staff. Beer garden and inside has a nice feel.

I brought my Nana here today for Sunday Lunch and it was perfect! The service was excellent, food came out quickly and was delicious. I had the pork loin dinner which came with Yorkshire, stuffing, pig in blanket, parsnip, roast, mash and various vegetables that come separately. It was huge! I felt they went beyond too as my Nana struggles to walk. So the chef noticed this and opened the side doors meaning it was less for her to walk back to the car. No complaints and booked again for next weekend. Thankyou very much for a very enjoyable visit. I would definitely recommend.

What a lovely venue great atmosphere, ambience. A busy Saturday lunch and deservedly so Great service from a very attentive team full credit to the kitchen food was exceptional main course and deserts were amazing Highly recommend We will return for sure *****

Great stopover near the A1. Very busy when we visited on Easter weekend. Cafe inside was quite crowded, but service was efficient and helpful. The feature is the amazing home made ice cream. Generous portions, bought some to take home too

A proper local with a twist! A real family-orientated pub where kids are made to feel as welcome as the man who is popping in because “the Chinese is taking g so long to order that I had to pop over the road for a pint, love.” Most pubs in the surrounding area have rapidly deteriorated or even closed over recent years - this one has got miles better. Great beer, great company, great pizza.

We decided last minute to go for dinner and was welcome The barman was very polite and helpful and waitress was alone and was handling the restaurant with professionalism The food was hot and possibly the best fish and chips I have had inland ever We’re definitely going back And can’t recommend this place enough

The venue was clean and well presented and the young staff were very professional and efficient. Suggest when visiting you opt for a table away from thr middle of the room or you will have a flow of people passing close by whilst you are eating. The food was well prepared pub grub. A few enhancements to the menu to increase choice away from burgers, pie and sausages, would make the venue stand out from the many pubs that have the same food choices.

The Garden Deli was a little hidden gem in Nene Court with a lovely outside seating area, which has now expanded into the unit next door, the extra table seating has made the deli much more accessible when busy. For lunch we ordered tuna melt panini & avocado smash with bacon on sourdough, both meals were freshly prepared, tasty, hot & nicely presented on the plate. Will be back again soon. It is so good to see an independent business expanding & being successful 🙌

There’s an argument that you shouldn’t recommend good place as next time you come there are no free tables. Saying that the bacon sandwich was the best I have had in a long time and the pancakes fresh and cooked to perfection. We’ll be back!
