Called in to this little tea room just off the Main Street in Castleton. Lovely place, greeted by a very friendly lady. After much deliberation we chose two cakes and a pot of tea. Cakes were delicious and the pot of tea came with a pot of hot water all served in white china...perfect. Would definitely recommend.

Our first visit to Deacons Bank. We knew we wouldn’t be disappointed. Simon is the most talented chef I have met. A visit DB is a must for every foodie. We will be back again soon. Thank you Simon and the team at Deacons Bank.

We’ve visited hundreds of coffee shops around the country over the years and tried numerous cakes and desserts. I can say without reservation that the Apple and almond cake and Bakewell tart were the two nicest we’ve ever tasted. What a little gem of a coffee shop. Cheerful and welcoming staff and to top it all they’re dog friendly.

Lovely little place with inside and outside tables, next to shop in quiet old arcade opposite the Opera House. Superior food with a local flourish, and Buxton Pudding Emporium shop next door run by same people. Not fast food, quality comes with care and attention which takes time, so don't rush, enjoy the flavours and the quiet location.

Absolutely loved this little place in the centre of Castleton. Staff were very friendly, place is comfy and there's yummy cakes to go with tea and coffee! A decent range of other food on the menu for lunch and bites - would definitely recommend!

I have been to Hyssop while it was on High Street West, and then under its new name and premises, Hyssop and the Hare on High Street East. We had the chef's choice menu on an early Friday evening. The food is outrageously well priced given the quality. The pork belly and cabbage in particular was some of the best food I've ever tasted. One of my party commented that it was better than the pork belly at the Hand and Flowers. I can well believe it. The focaccia was unparalleled. Dessert was a pleasingly large slab of deliciously balanced sticky toffee pudding. I prefer the cosy environment and atmosphere that is the new venue, to feel so relaxed while enjoying such high quality food makes for a wonderful experience. The vibes are immaculate. The house red is excellent and we enjoyed a round of superb martinis. The service is warm and friendly, Mia is a delight and really enhances your experience. The waiting staff were knowledgeable about the food and could readily answer questions about the dishes. There is a £20 pp deposit, which is unavoidable and understandable these days, as is the apparently strict enforcement. I am so glad that after the devastating fire Glossop gets to continue to enjoy such an extraordinary offering. I look forward to trying the Cosy Thursdays menu.

We went on a Saturday and was disappointment as when we were going to order we were told we couldn't have coffee and cake as if was lunchtime and we had to order a full meal. We had been at this time of three previous occasions at the same time - booking by telephone and NOT been told that as it was lunchtime we had to have a full main meal. So was very disappointed as I only meet up with my sisters/family once a month (there was 8 of us) and this is the handiest to their homes so we got up and left. When taking telephone bookings for a lunchtime they need to advise customers of their choices!!! Subsequently we will not be going back!!!!

Excellent chippy in the town centre. Called in after walking in the valley. I had a lovely large cod only £5.50 and a small chips £2.00 which was actually a large portion. The fish was large with lovely white flesh and a very good thin crispy batter. Well worth the money. Chips were fine but had better elsewhere but still good, I sat on a bench and really enjoyed my lunch. Staff in the shop very friendly especially the guy with the tattoos.

Cask and Kitchen is a delightful American-style restaurant that captures the essence of comfort food. With its cozy ambiance featuring rustic wooden decor and warm lighting, it offers a welcoming atmosphere perfect for casual dining. The menu boasts a variety of classic dishes, from juicy burgers topped with house-made pickles to flavorful Kebabs. We started with Pork Belly and Salt and Pepper Calamri , which were a hit, and finished with a classic Tenessee Kebab to bring back nostalgic memories. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. Whether you're craving a hearty meal or just a comforting dessert, Cask and Kitchen is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in American favorites.
