Relaxed Sunday lunch. Excellent friendly service. Delicious tasty food with great presentation. Interesting menu.

Wonderful hotel. Location was great,just a couple of minutes walk and you are in the town.We ate in the hotel restaurant before we went on to the theatre, the food was excellent so was the service. We stayed in room 27 which had recently been renovated and was lovely. The breakfast was really nice and there was a very good selection ,hot and cold. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. One of the staff in particular,we think her name was Tracey ? couldn’t do enough to make our stay perfect,so thank you! We would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting Buxton and the surrounding area.

As always a hotel par excellence - lovely friendly and professional staff and wonderful food - gala Christmas dinner was superb and breakfasts always first class - we are a group of 4 and always stay for Xmas for 2 nights including new year gala dinner - The quality never varies and we have already booked for 2025.

Lovely hotel, dated in places. Staff extremely polite, helpful and pleasant. Nothing too much trouble. Breakfast delicious.. Lots of choice both full English and continental. Piping hot and fresh. Room lovely, Only criticism, is tv too far away from the bed, opposite side of the room. And hard to see. Lovely stay. Would definitely revisit.

Everything about our stay was lovely! The receptionist who checked us in, and the waitress at breakfast, were both lovely, friendly and helpful. Our room was beautifully decorated with a fantastic view. Perfect location being 5 mins walk to the centre of Buxton. Breakfast was delicious. Cannot fault our stay, already planning our next!

We stayed here as a group of school friends for our annual reunion. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay great. The food was beautiful and the portions were enormous. We all agreed it was the best hotel we had been to in over 23 reunions. Well done to all the staff who without exception were so warm and friendly.

We had an evening dinner here although we were not staying in the hotel (which most people were). First of all they did not have a record of our booking, although they were able to give us a decent table anyway. So far so good. But the overall service was slow. The food (when it came) was not very good. The vegetables were a bit cold, but worse, they were far too hard - totally undercooked. The main part of both of our meals was mediocre at best. Then came the wait for the bill. Apparently asking twice for the bill is insufficient and eventually I went to the bar to pay there. We could have easily simply walked away without paying and based on the service given we would have had a clear conscience, but morally we would not do that , so waited until we could eventually pay. Definitely not recommended.

Lee Wood Hotel has fantastic staff. From reception through to restaurant and bar and the lady who cleaned our room, all were friendly and helpful. We had a very enjoyable stay here, a good base for exploring Buxton and the surrounding environment.

We stayed two nights - a return to a favourite hotel after the pandemic. Lee Wood has always provided excellent quality and service in its restaurant and we were delighted to find it still does

Stayed here mid week, this Hotel is really comfortable and clean. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. The Hotel has a great calm friendly feel together with staff that are always happy to help. The choice and quality of food in the restaurant was very good, both breakfast and evening meal. Definitely recommend staying here.

We had a private room for a family birthday meal. It was very private and peaceful. Limited selection of food but good quality. It exceeded our expectations as the menu we had been shown previously was a typical pub menu. The service was efficient and friendly. As it was a warm day we were able to have a pleasant drink outside before going in, in the garden overlooking the cricket club. Thank you Lee Wood.

We stayed two nights in this traditional English hotel. Staff members were consistently helpful and friendly, ambience in the bar area was relaxed, room was comfortable and the amenities were all as expected. Handy for a stroll into town but far enough to be peaceful. We didn’t eat at the hotel except for bar sandwiches. No hot food served after 8:30pm on a Friday night was surprising (COVID-related staffing challenges), and it was more than £200 per night, which seems steep. We’d happily stay there again.

Had a lovely three nights here. Rooms had everything you need. Cleaned daily with fresh towels. Hotel is a beautiful old house , and the garden is stunning. All food we had was delicious. The staff were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. Very friendly. Can't wait to return .

One night stay; very satisfied. OK, the decor is somewhat traditional/dated but everything appeared to be in very good condition (all the usual tell-tale signs like carpet, bathroom tiles, paintwork were actually all good). Our suite (upgrade) was large, well equipped & furnished, quiet and comfortable. No passing traffic noise. The bed was excellent. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. In the morning we phoned down for room service continental breakfast and it arrived within 10 minutes, with a smile. No problems parking right outside. Good position. Short walk to town centre (although its uphill coming back, but not so steep). Only comment would be that the ensuite bathroom was rather small compared to the size of the bedroom. That's the problem I guess in converting an older building. Would we stay there again? Definitely!

Both myself and my husband really enjoyed the meals we had at this restaurant. We were staying at the hotel and enjoyed the high quality of the dinners and the staff in the restaurant were so attentive and professional. High praise to the chef who most certainly is top class. If you dine here you will not be disappointed.

Stayed in Buxton 2 nights but only stayed here for 1 but wish I'd booked this one for both. On arrival the lady on the desk was really friendly and helpful, she even upgraded our room. The room was by far the biggest hotel room iv ever stayed in, there was a small lounge area with sofa and chair, big bedroom and a decent bathroom. We chilled in the bar/lounge area with a beer and wine enjoying the views out of the bay window. The walk in to Buxton is nice and not long at all. In the morning we had breakfast which consisted of fruit juice, tea, coffee and a full English. All covid safety measure were in place and the rooms had being deep cleaned before our arrival. I would stay here again and recommend it to others too.

We stayed at the lee wood with our two boys. The room was lovely and perfect for a family night away and the staff were helpful and friendly. We ate in the restaurant which had great selection of food and was tasty, breakfast was also great. The staff seemed to be working hard to keep with Covid guidelines, which I can imagine must be a nightmare for them. Will definitely return, thanks x

If you are looking for somewhere different to holiday then try Buxton and stay at this hotel. Very friendly people and a lovely hotel. A five minute stroll into Buxton past all the big houses we could never afford. The foods great and they do the Eat out scheme as well. The hotel is well situated for all the Peak District towns. I would recommend a ride out to Monsal Head for the views as well.

Had an amazing meal at The Leewood restaurant last night. We were not staying there we live locally. My husband and I both had a starter, main and dessert and we couldn’t fault any of it. The service was great and the restaurant itself felt very safe and clean with the tables spaced out nicely. This restaurant is great for hotel residents and non residents alike and we will definitely be going there for a meal again. We also thought the prices were reasonable for the standard of food we ate.

This was our first meal post lockdown and as a family of 5 we were so delighted with the steps that this hotel has taken to provide a safe environment to enjoy a beautiful Sunday lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the staff were fantastic. Drinks were ordered via a very simple app and brought to the table. Thank you to the Lee Wood Hotel x

The service and the food were excellent. The dining room was spacious and attractive and the staff were attentive but not annoyingly so. Breakfast this morning was also perfect with extensive choice and quality food. All in all a lovely experience. We will definitely eat here again.

Had a fantastic meal in the conservatory with my wife. 15th but Valentine's menu was still available. Storm Dennis raging outside but cosy inside. Couldn't fault the food, lamb rump perfect, veg just right. Friendly staff, really good wine. Will be back soon.

8 girls go to the Lee Wood twice a year to catch up, relax and craft. We hire a room and craft away. All the staff are so helpful and work hard to ensure we have everything we need. The food is delicious. Highly recommended this hotel.

We ate lunch at the Lee Wood Hotel Restaurant while visiting Buxton last weekend. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Our waitress Elinor was friendly and helpful and looked after us perfectly. Antonio demonstrated his expertise at napkin folding. The whole experience was wonderful and we will certainly visit again when we are in the area.

This was a "dry run" of four classic car owners ahead of a much larger group booking for May 2020 to make sure that we have made the right choice. We have. Really good in every department. The 1st impressions when walking into Reception were very good and from that point we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the restaurant service equally so. The rooms really comfortable. The only minor hitch is parking is very tight. We are now looking forward to next May!

Have just enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch in beautiful surroundings. The restaurant is set in and extensive, well decorated conservatory which also caters for evening dining and functions. The food was cooked and presented beautifully and the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. I would particularly like to mention our waitress, Eleanor, who took care of us in a friendly, professional way welcoming without being over bearing. Many thanks.

Welcoming hotel in quiet part of Buxton with good parking and easy walking distance from town centre. High quality food and reasonable prices. Clean and welcoming staff.

I have visited Buxton all my life but only in recent years discovered the Leewood. Please don't be put off by how the hotel looks from the main road. It was built in the 19thC to take advantage of the view on the other side, and it is the hotel back that you see from the road. All meals are served in a large well decorated conservatory. Every time I have visited the food has been excellent, particularly so as the staff go out of their way to cater for my allergies. I would particularly pick out Eleanor and Antonio for their friendly service. This hotel is only a couple of hundred meters from the town center but manages to be relatively unknown to many. It is well worth taking the time to discover.

Four people thoroughly enjoyed dinner in the hotel restaurant. The service given at the table was appreciated. In all, a very nice evening was enjoyed by the party and our thanks go to the restaurant for that.

The hotel Restaurant was well set out in the Conservetary and was kept warm with several heaters placed around the room as additional to the central heating.. The menu was varied but not all dishes shown were available on the first evening but certainly on the menu on the second evening. The food was well cooked and very tasty and the courses were quite filling. The service staff were excellent for the dinners and the breakfasts with Helena, for her personnallity and sense of humour, as well as her service, being the best of them. We all remembered her from our previous visit to the hotel last year. Overall the restaurant is one I would recommend to anyone visiting Buxton. .

Stopped in the Lee Wood for the second time in 3 months, again the staff and food were excellent, could not fault the service nor the quality of the food, particularly breakfast. the breakfast room is large with tables not too close together, and excellent place for an intimate meal with good views of the setting sun.

We had a delicious meal in very comfortable surroundings. We were exceptionally well looked after by our waitress, Eleanor, who could not do more to ensure we had a very enjoyable experience. The food was first class, and I would recommend the Whisky Crème Brulee for desserts!

We had a room service meal on the first night of our stay which we really enjoyed (soup for my husband, grazing board for me and fruit salad for afters). On our second night at the hotel we ate in the restaurant. We were looked after very attentively by Antonio. The restaurant is in a large conservatory which can be quite cool in December. There are hot air blowers to heat it and as soon as Antonio realised that I was feeling chilly he moved one of the blowers so that I got the full benefit of it. the food was delicious and piping hot. I had the vegetarian option (Sweet Potato, Spinach, Goats Cheese and Mushroom Wellington) and my husband had the sea bass. He would have liked a slightly larger portion but mine was just right. We shared Coconut Parfait (with Coconut Macaroon, Lime Curd and Poached Pineapple) which was unusual but delicious, although we felt the lime curd was a little out of place as the taste was too strong, but that is personal preference rather than criticism.

Good food great selection of the highest standard and helpful staff very knowledgeable with wines for the meals.

We ate here with friends, taking our time and spreading the lunch into three hours. The staff were relaxed, hugely helpful and professional whilst being warm and friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful and we never felt rushed or unwelcome. This visit turned into a cosy little gem of an afternoon and we will definitely be back - thank you Leewood.

We booked for Sunday Lunch for my Mum's 87th Birthday ( 8 of us dining ) the quality of food and service was excellent. We had taken our own birthday cake for after the meal, which was bought out at the appropriate time with candles on by the staff who joined us in the birthday chorus !! The staff were friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them and it made for a thoroughly enjoyable meal experience. We will definitely be back !

Having experienced the delights of this restaurant twice in the past month and on several occasions over the last few years, both formal and informal, I can honestly say that I have never been disappointed. Both the quality of the food and the service are excellent. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. Whether you book as individuals or as part of a large group, the service is slick and the staff attentive.

Very disappointed. The staff were very good and friendly. The surroundings perfect. The food was awful. The roast beef was like packet slice beef you buy in a supermarket, veg mostly carrots and a few green beans. Awful. I now realise why we were the only party in.

I've been going to the Lee Wood for many years for one reason or another. This trip I went 3 times, once for a Sunday lunch, once for afternoon tea as a birthday tea party, and once for an evening meal. All experiences were excellent. The food is really good and the staff are outstandingly helpful and friendly. They never hesitate to try to accommodate any special needs. The 2 part menu for dinner today of Main Event and Classical choices is a really good idea so there is plenty of choice for everyone. Sunday lunch is always very good. The birthday tea was plentiful and great quality. This is a very good hotel but it is also a great standalone restaurant. I thoroughly recommend it.

We had three course dinner in the restaurant and the food was first class and well presented. Good size portions too. Top marks to the Chef!

A family group of 8 enjoyed a lovely meal at the Lee Wood Restaurant on Saturday 23 June. The food was delicious but most especially the service was excellent by all the staff but a special thank you to Eleanor who was exceptional. Good selection on the menu, something to suit everyone. If you are on holiday in Buxton you may not think of using this restaurant but we highly recommend you do!

My wife and I attended a milestone wedding celebration lunch. Staff very friendly and the restaurant tables were set with sufficient space around them. Didn’t feel hemmed in!

We went for the Gentleman’s afternoon tea this afternoon as a lovely treat for Father’s Day. We were greeted and taken to our table by lovely, welcoming and friendly staff. Didn’t feel out of place having our 22 month old little boy with us either all staff chatted to us and him. Our drinks order was taken and arrived promptly, shortly followed by our food which was delicious. It comprised of a selection of meats, a trio of different cheeses, piccalilli, apple and fantastic pork pie!! A slate with a large variety of sandwiches:- egg mayonnaise, ham and mustard, smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber just to name a few. Not forgetting all the yummy sweet treats vanilla slices, lemon drizzle cake, chocolate and coffee cake, 6 different flavoured macaroons and a delicious fruit scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam!! Afternoon tea to Perfection! We all thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely visit again.

8 ramblers from Somerset enjoyed a four day break at this hotel using the restaurant each night, we all thought the staff were brilliant. The range of food provided was excellent. This restaurant deserves to be very popular.

My wife and I enjoyed another fantastic night away at the Lee Wood Hotel in Buxton. The staff are lovely and friendly, the food is excellent and the room was a proper country hotel room. We managed to get a great deal including dinner and breakfast too. I can not recommend this hotel highly enough!

I have had a lovey afternoon at the restaurant with family. On arrival we were greeted by friendly and professional staff. Nothing was to much trouble we opted for the Sunday set menu but we could have also ordered from the bar menu if you fancied something lighter. The restaurant was warm, bright and very clean. Cold, cold, cold, despite various small electric blowers, only 3 couples in there, one pair who left shortly after we arrived, so no atmosphere. Poor service, cheap ingredients - my smoked salmon was particularly nasty and salty and Nina's soup tasteless, main courses nondescript. Ran out of Earl Grey tea for 2 mornings.etc

Had a great overnight stay at the Lee Wood hotel at Easter. This is a very comfortable hotel in the centre of Buxton. A great base to explore the surrounding area. Rooms are modern , comfortable and spotlessly clean. On Easter Sunday morning there were Easter eggs left outside guests doors, nice surprise ! Breakfast was leisurely, buffet style fruit, cereals, pastries etc with hot food cooked from an extensive choice to order. Just the thing to start your day, especially after sampling the beers on offer at Buxton Tap the night before !! All in all a great stay, would recommend to anyone.

We arrived here mid afternoon on the Sunday and decided to eat in the hotel restaurant - the menu has five starters, five mains and five desserts plus the room service menu for lighter items. We had the pork main course followed by the creme brulee - it was all delicious and I would thoroughly recommend it so go and enjoy - the staff are very friendly and attentive but not overly so.

El hotel era bueno y así fue el restaurante. No siempre es el caso. Pero estar en una habitación con paneles de madera, con blanco reluciente napery, cubiertos brillantes y vasos espumoso, tienes la sensación de que este es un establecimiento de calidad. Así se...

Lo recomiendo altamente. . La comida era increíble, el personal amable y acogedor, y el restaurante es precioso. No puedo esperar a volver!

Set in the Pavillion Gardens building the restaurant is popular with visitors to the town and with locals. A range of seating over two floors. A decent array of items on the menu and reasonably priced.If busy it can be chaotic. Guests are meant to wait to be seated, a sofa area is available at busy times. On my last visit my friend and I were waiting and perusing the menu, a couple of people were ahead of us and several more behind. Two staf members were maning the area but didn't seem to communicate properly, resulting in those coming in later being seated before us. I think they may have been a a little short staffed, it was extremerlly busy owing to an event in the next building. In the end we gave up and went else where, which is a shame as the scone with cream and jam is delicious. The venue is also available for parties and events. I've attended a couple of weddings here before. And they always were presented wonderfully.The building is also extremerly beautiful itself, houseing a small theatre, cafe, the tourist information centre, a large exibiton space as well as a hothouse walk through to the opera house.Well worth a visit.

Chose to eat within the hotel when I recently stayed on business. The large conservatory restaurant was welcoming and the staff both friendly and professional. Menu offered a wide choice of dishes to meet most budgets and food was excellent. Excellent breakfast the following morning.
