We had the 5 course tasting menu. It certainly was a lot more than that when 3 delicious “snacks”, several beautifully warm homemade bread rolls and a selection of divine petit fours were taken into account! Exquisite food. Excellent service in such a lovely old building. Recommend this fabulous restaurant unreservedly!

I have had fish and chips from you in the past, probably 6 months ago, and loved them, fresh fish, very nice batter, but tonight we ordered fish and chips again, And am a little disappointed, the batter was nice but the cod had little taste and wasnt as thick as in the past, and it was very firm, as if it was cooked earlier in the day. Not as tasty as before

Nothing to add, really, just a ridiculous price. OK, the food was fine and the service was very good, but this was not good value for money.

Lovely food with lots of choice! We were served with a big smile by Will who couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. Thank you, Will! 🎉

First time we've visited here for a long time on a Sunday as we found the Pig & Muck some years ago, where the Carvery was outstanding. Unfortunately, that's now changed hands and a Carvery is no longer offered, so we tried The Crown again. The Pros: Staff were all lovely, really friendly and very attentive. We've always liked the interior of this Pub and it had been refreshed since our last visit, many years ago. Cons: Welcome at the actual Carvey was "what do you want mate"! What can I get for you, without the mate, would seem more appropriate. First dissapointing thing food wise, was only a choice of 3 meats. Perhaps we were spoilt at The Pig & Muck, as there was always beef, pork, pork belly, lamb, gammon and turkey on a Sunday. The meat we had at The Crown though was good. Frozen Yorkshire Puddings were also dissapointing. Most establishments serving a great Sunday Lunch pride themselves on homemade Yorkshire. The Cauliflower and Brocoli Cheese was just awful. The sauce was as runny as water. It seems the staff are the biggest asset here, as the Carvery was not good enough to return. I know the long established Chef left a few months ago, so maybe this is problem.

Fantastic Family Meal at The Oakover Arms! We had a brilliant family meal tonight at The Oakover Arms, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience! The Indian dishes were absolutely delicious—full of rich flavors, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff making sure everything was just right. On top of that, the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received. Highly recommend The Oakover Arms for anyone looking for a great meal in a welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

We had a lovely Mother's Day lunch here yesterday - the pub is beautiful, as is the surrounding area. There was a set menu for Mother's Day with plenty to choose from and 3 courses for ÂŁ33.00 which we thought was good value for money. The pub was extremely busy and we were waiting a while between our starters and our main, but we didn't mind that. All in all we had a lovely afternoon out but there are a couple of niggles ... 4 of us opted for the prawn cocktail starter - the avocado was missing from all 4 of the prawn cocktails and when we told our waitress, she just said sorry. I am unsure whether they had run out or simply forgotten to put it in there but it would have been nice if she could have looked into it for us. For the main, 3 of us went for the Derbyshire beef and 2 had the chicken. Unfortunately, even though it was cooked perfectly, the beef was a little on the tough side, as was the chicken. The rest of the meal was lovely and we were going to complain but just put it down to the fact it was extremely busy and sometimes, you do get that tough joint of beef. We would definitely return. Our main waitress was lovely and very helpful. Thank you for a great afternoon out.

First time here and throughly enjoyed our meals. Only slight criticism would have preferred beef stew with more meat and less gravy and on a plate with mash and red cabbage rather than separate dishes. Desserts were very tasty. Banana and Dark chocolate bread n butter pudding best one I've ever tasted. We will definitely return.

Loved our meal here. Steak was delicious! Best one we have had for a very long time. Very accommodating for us & our 9 month old daughter & collie. Great place for a bit of grub and a pint after a long days walking in the peaks. Manager was lovely too! Thank you! We will be back when we’re in the area again :)

Our waitress steph was a pleasure, we came in on Friday evening and had a lovely time, food was good, steph was very nice, my son couldn't decide what he wanted and she was a star, she even suggested my son tried the chicken burger, she even talked him into doubling it up, thank you steph you are a credit to the pub, will be back soon
