unexpectedly delicious food (tandoori skillet 😚👌)

Very much a student area, which brings a liveliness vibe, along with good music. The food is good and if you go with a friend you can't beat the £13.50 for 2 meals. If I'm in the area again I would definitely go back.

Maybe I'm getting old, but the music is too loud🙈you can't have a conversation without shouting, so every table is competing. I do like the atmosphere there other than that, it's a friendly pub.

Can't go wrong here for the price, but I have taken one star off due to one meal having a lack of hallomi, one meal a poor amount ao sweet chilli sauce and another member of the group was still hungry after their meal. Taken one star off for atmosphere as it was very loud in there, so it seemed like they turned the music up higher but it just made people talk louder.

Great Pub , good food nice atmosphere, sadly 😭 Unfortunately, The Nice Time Ended with Car Park Fine. For the first time and met with a situation where, I have to pay for the parking lot on the Pub😱 .Even worse, in 2 weeks, we were 3 times there so We will get two extra additional 🤯😰😨 Update. The wonderful manager sorts this out for us. Thank You!

We have been coming here for many years and have had some wonderful times. Unfortunately this was not the case on our last visit. The whole vibe of the place has changed. It was very chaotic and the food wasn't good at all. Spoilt our evening.

Awful servive awful food waited 40 mins for latte came out cold frst meal brought out cold second meal not as bad but it was tasteless process meat and not proper mash all together very poor standards wont be going agan thanx but no thanx

I took the university of Nottingham girls society here and the staff were so lovely. Angela helped me book the outside sheltered area. They reserved us tables and set them all out nicely with reserved signs on the tables. The booking process was simple and easy. The staff were amazing with the patience of 30 girls all ordering drinks. The atmosphere was really good and friendly. Would 100% recommend and we hope to come again in the near future.

Food was not that great weekend had to send it back.

Excellent food, I had the rib of beef, there was plenty of meat and vegetables. Whilst we had to wait a while for the order it was acceptable because the pub was extremely busy. Next time we are in Nottingham we will certainly eat there again.

Went to watch the footy and had and grabbed a bite. Everything was great. Good atmosphere and nice food. The waitress Alana was super accommodating and an all round lovely person!

Wonderful pub. They host our group each year. A bit chaotic, but that's ok. A bit short staffed this time, but they made it work.

Imma be real this place really sucks. Half the tables are reserved, the rest are stupidly high chairs, none of which have numbers on the tables.

Always a fantastic meal when I visit. Today I came with my younger children aged, 6,8&9 (2 with sen needs), the food was great and the staff fantastic as always, thank you for enabling us to have a hassle free meal out.

Student pub is studenty. Staff were friendly.

Very disappointing. My partner and I are big Greene King fans so we've been trying out a lot around the city and this has to be one of, if not the worst one we've tried. The table we were sat at had no lighting so we could barely see. My partner ordered our food, was allowed to pay and we were told about 10 minutes later that not only was my choice out of stock, but there was now a half hour wait on food. We let it slide as we had time to kill anyway. Cutlery was brought to our table and it was dirty. Not just unpolished but dirty and covered in food. My partner's chicken burger was overcooked and dry, and the sausage in his burger was burnt. My main was okay but my side of Mac and cheese came with unmelted cheese on top. I'm not one for bad reviews but there didn't seem to be a redeeming factor here unfortunately.

Attempted to book a table at this pub to watch the football. The booking was confirmed and then later cancelled via email for no reason whatsoever. I called the pub to understand why the pub had cancelled and the person who answered the call was extremely rude and blunt and was no help whatsoever. Furthermore, he lied about calling me to follow up about the booking as my phone has no record of receiving the phone calls. Then he tried to claim that two people came in and said my name under a different booking - trying to change the subject of the conversation when that is blatant lie. When I confronted him about lying he just hung up on me. I tended to frequent this pub and never have I come across such rude staff in my life and it was shameful.

Fab service from start to finish. The finish was a sticky toffee pudding cheesecake with ice cream, we had to try it after a hearty recommendation and only a tiny amount of persuasion from the lovely manager Kirsty! Keep on doing what you do, it’s great 👍🏻

This was my first visit, and I can honestly say I couldn't fault it. The service was great, and they were very accommodating. The food was a good price, tasted good, and came out quickly.

We went to watch the football as we had booked a table for 6. Overall it was very good great atmosphere and the service was excellent.

Fantastic pub/setting for our son’s 21st birthday - great atmosphere, great food, really helpful staff - particular mention to Kirsty - she was so attentive - nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended

One of your waiters showed no hospitality and insisted that only 8 people should be seated on the table even though we were 10. Clearly he didn't want us as customers that evening. Several of us left right away. At other times the place was nice.

First time we've dined here started with prawn cocktail 3 lettuce leaves standing up in a a dish the prawns had no sauce with them which was very strange and a slice of bread with butter ,had a Sunday roast beef ,ordered extra roast potatoes, veg and Yorkshire pudding, plus pigs in blankets. Gravy was nice ...mashed potatoes were watery ,roast potatoes were rock hard ,pugs in blankets were anemic ,veg was over cooked and in the water it was cooked in beef was OK but over cooked .not the standard of food I expected won't have Sunday lunch here again

decent place for students with cheap pints

Disappointed to the max. First of all on 11th of November it's unacceptable to put christmas music on in a pub people got enough of forced christmas mood during shopping, from the radio, tv and so on. I'd prefer some bangers on for a good mood. We had full rack of ribs, onion rings and lamb kofta. Kofta is horrible off taste no smoke flavour at all and disintegrated on the first touch of a fork. Ribs are the saddest ribs I've ever tasted in my life. Came barely warm, missing BBQ sauce therefore without any taste. The chips is overdone and dry, onion rings are contained no onion. Thanks but no thanks.

A large pub with ample room for many people to sit comfortablty. Multiple bar stations and charming and efficient staff.

The food is what you’d expect from a pub, the chips are really fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside so would definitely recommend. Mostly ordering from the bar - queues can get really long (15/20 minutes at times). Student discount is available with student beans but there is a minimum spend of £5 and it can only be used once per hour (open a tab to avoid this). Can get really busy and quite loud. Had a darts board but bring your own darts as they don’t supply them. Great for sports games as there are several tvs around the bar.

I recently helped organise two charity events and I asked the Rose & Crown to help with the buffet for both events and they happily agreed. The food at both events was exceptional, great variety and plenty to go round. The service provided was brilliant as well and they made everything straightforward and provided a great experience.

Been here a number of times over the past few months. Fair to say the pub is definitely a student hot spot due to location, this doesn’t affect the cleanliness, service or food in my opinion. The question for the bar can be very long winded- however you have the option to remain at the table and order via the app. When we have eaten here the food has always been delicious. There is ample outside seating and parking- you need to register your vehicle registration when you enter so as not to get a ticket. Most recently we were served by Prince who was super accommodating and polite. The food was presented nicely, was piping hot and cooked as we had requested (wings well done.) Always seems to be a different event going on, were it sports being shown on the many tvs inside, bingo or pub quiz. Very well managed. If you have a larger party or special date definitely recommend booking a table to ensure you’re seated.

Decided to try this place, this evening, as staying in a hotel near by and the reviews were good. I was on table 1. Firstly, the staff were so friendly and polite. I couldn’t have asked for more, they are a real credit to the place. I ordered the rib eye with eggs and peppercorn sauce, which was tasty. Pub has a nice buzz and the other customers were friendly. I’d return next time I’m in the area. I can’t single out anyone as I don’t think anyone had name badges.

Sunday roast, spot on! We had the slow and low beef Sunday roast dinner and the amount of meat on the bone! Beautiful! Great service, it was proper busy, but had a great time

Went here on a Friday night so was expecting it to be busy and loud. We did have to wait for about 5 mins to be seated but that was to be expected and was warned that the food would be around 30-40 minutes, once again we don’t see this as an issue considering how busy it was. We had our drinks within 10 minutes and food within 20. Food was excellent my wife had Mac and Cheese and I went for the Steak and Ale Pie, both were really filling and tasty. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Busy day on football match day. It is a good place to go for the booze and watch some sports on TV but no ideal for family. Food is not that good. Probably it was frozen food.

Had an amazing breakfast food was delicious. Customer service was amazing too, we were served by Anthea, she made us very welcome and helped us with our food allergies. Would definitely recommend 👌

Such a lovely place! Visited a couple of times now, can't fault it.

Although the pub seemed nice and clean, and the wait staff was very friendly, the music was intrusive and loud. The food was okay, but not great. (I had fish and chips, good chips, but the fish was chewy and not very flavorful. The lasagna tasted mass produced and didn't have much seasoning)

Went for a baby shower. We were in the function room above the pub. No heating on e entry. Tvs on that distracted away from the afternoons proceedings. The food we ordered was left with another table who only brought it to our attention when there's then arrived. Needless to say, some of ours had been manhandled with no apology for the mistake.

Go here a lot to be honest but ordered the sirloin today which is on offer mon-weds I think and it was cooked perfect told them that and prince (chef for the day) came out to have a quick chat and thank us for the kind words , really good pub with great stuff from top to bottom thanks again prince for my steak today

Absolutely loved it here today❤️. I went with my daughter had a lovely meal😋 and one or two raspberry gins😁. The best mix grill, chicken and rib meals I've seen and had for a long time. Very tasty cooked to perfection and tasted gorgeous 😋and plenty of it to lol.The place is nicely decorated, warm and friendly staff(especially the lady with tattoos) Mel I think and also Ben I hope I got your name right lol. Love the outside area, front and back with plenty of seating. I think I've found a pub I be going more to😊

Drink service was very slow and had to go to bar to remind them about my drink after ten minutes of waiting! But food was delicious 😋 I had a mix grill they had ran out of chicken but gave me an extra sausage instead which I preferred to chicken anyway! Lovely evening here having dinner with my husband and 2 young children. Service was absolutely brilliant, bringing a 1 and 3 year old out to dinner isn’t always easy but a special shout out to Shell who was straight over checking in, gave the kids crayons, was super attentive and just gave all round fantastic service!!! Will definitely be back and highly recommend :)

We attended a relatives 60th birthday party upstairs and had a wonderful evening, with a lovely buffet. Unfortunately today, a fine of £100 for the car park, came through the door. We didn't notice any signs on the night, and can't see anything on website, but something you should be aware of if staying any length of time. Makes an expensive evening out

Every time I visit with friends the atmosphere is great .. very friendly and lively…they often have live entertainment on… and the staff are great… can’t do enough for you … and the food is good too… I’d recommend a visit to anyone…great local pub.
