Lovely old pub with amazingly low prices which compare with what we had in 1990's around London. Great beers and even Mild which can rarely be seen anywhere in the south. Wine very limited , Red, White or Rose, spirits all by the brewery but fine under half the price of the south and a lovely atmosphere.

We arrived at this quaint looking little pub and had to wait for a while before anyone noticed us, that is apart from the chef who almost bumped into us on her way out. It was early, so only 2 or 3 tables were occupied. We’ve been here many times but sadly we’ve found it a little hit n miss for a while now. Sadly, we were a little disappointed with the food once again. I had scampi which was lovely to be fair, so too was the chunky tartar sauce. The scampi didn’t taste as if it was ‘the frozen stuff’ that you get at the supermarket which pubs often seem to serve, it was more succulent and the pieces were larger, however I found the ‘hand cut’ chips too overcooked for my liking once again, although the taste was quite nice. Also I would liked to have been asked if I wanted chunky chips or fries as ‘hand cut’ chips didn’t describe the size. I prefer skinny chips! The pea shoot salad had very little or no dressing. In fact the pea-shoots were very ‘stalky’ with next to no leaves. The green pea purée was tasteless and non de script. When eating out, I always hope the food is as good as/better than I can cook at home. Otherwise, why would I want to pay the money? Tonight, it wasn’t I’m sorry to say. I much prefer to leave a glowing review when deserved. My husband ordered a burger which he described as ‘just ok’. His skinny chips were nice but the whole meal was small! He has a small appetite but even he wasn’t full after this meal. Our friends would leave hungry, if they’d been there, I believe. My husband ordered a ‘flat white’ coffee after his food, as I’m a slow eater and was still eating, when he’d finished. However the flat white was basically a black coffee with froth! As for the music, rather than ‘easy listening’ type of music which might suit a more wider ‘audience’, we had The Wombats, The Kooks, The Killers and other similar, unsuitable music. Not the sort of relaxing atmosphere we were hoping for. So we decided to skip dessert! I do have to say that the owner works hard and is always rushing around serving and is helpful. It’s just that for us, the food wasn’t quite up to our expectations and I feel that some of the prices are a little on the steep side ie fillet steak £37, Gammon, egg and pineapple £24 Tarragon chicken £26 Smoked haddock £29 While the burger and pub Classics at £14 and the pizzas, at £14/£16 were more reasonably priced. So although I would like to give this old English pub a higher mark, I’m afraid on this occasion it’s gonna have to be a three at best!!!

The Barge is located right in the centre of Grimsby, if you are here drinking then it's a must visit place. The barge itself was being painted when we got there which will end up looking good and giving it a nice refresh. Inside is nice, good jukebox and nice service. Beer is on thr pricey side but worth it - there are a lot if dives in this town so you get what you pay for. Ample outdoor seating which was nice in the sun. Would recommend.

We visited on a Thursday evening for the Steak Night. Choice of sirloin or rump, both were excellent and tasted breed than some Ribeye I’d bought from Morrisons. Home made Diane sauce too. Cooked to perfection and served with skin on fries. If you like Steak you’ll live the Hatton Arms.

As a local business our clients love a stroll to this lovely country pub. Fabulous outdoor seating if it’s just a drink and often our clients will pre order pizzas for their stay. We always get 10/10 reviews on departure. Thank you to all the Staff & Management ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Booked through company to stay one nice. Upon arrival checked into room at the bar, good atmosphere is the downstairs pub with plenty of screens for the football. Room was spacious with a comfortable bed, decor was a bit dated but didn’t was fine for what it was. Problems when getting to sleep was quite loud outside but I’m not a light sleeper so didn’t bother too much, however for whatever reason the heading was on full blast with no option to turn it off, mid-June warm outside the room was like an oven! Window was already open so couldn’t do anything to make it cooler. For this reason couldn’t wait to get out in the morning. Breakfast in the morning was poor, ordered poached eggs on toast and the solid was rock solid. So much so that when I cut into it the corner of the toast pinged off my plate onto the floor! 😂 Wouldn’t stay again
