Great food and friendly service!

The meat was cold but worst of all the temperature in the restaurant was too cold, we kept our coats on throughout our visit.

Great experience when visiting for lunch today. Friendly staff and we all enjoyed the food.

Although the food was generally acceptable, the roast potatoes were an exception. When ordering, I requested a baby bowl and was told only small plates were available near the serving area, which I accepted as this isn’t normally an issue as it’s charged at £0.99. We last paid this back at Christmas. We've visited this branch more times than I can count, this time using a 50% off mains voucher. I went to the till to pay, as the staff are often too busy to bring the bill to the table. However, I was presented with a receipt that charged me for three adult meals, despite only two adults being at the table. I questioned this and, after a brief back-and-forth, the waiter corrected it to two adult meals and one child meal. At this point, I had not been informed that the baby bowl, which I always order, was actually charged as a kids meal at £6.49. When I raised this with the same colleague, I was told that baby bowls were only available to Groupon voucher holders and during Sunday hours. This isn’t accurate, as the website still lists them as available. The waiter also mentioned that I could have asked for a kids' ice cream (which was never offered). In the end I paid for 2 adult meals and 1 child meal which cost more than 3 adult meals with 50% voucher. With no senior staff present and two small children growing increasingly frustrated from the wait, the waiter told me to take the receipt and pay at the bar. However, there were over ten people in the queue at the bar, so I returned to the original till to pay, facing yet another inconvenience. There have been several new staff hired recently, and they could benefit from additional training, as these issues could have been avoided just by actually checking the ages of the children and plates ordered. Moral of the story, check your receipts as staff clearly lack training. Toby management please train your staff on current offers, this is likely a reason why customers do not return regularly. I did email this information directly but yet to receive a response, hence this warning for other customers!

Brilliant love my mid week dinner

Food needs to be hotter. No atmosphere as not many there.

Nice pub but the John Smith's wasn't the best when we visited.

I went for the 1st time in a long time for breakfast and i was pleasantly surprised food was lovely all just cooked lovely hot fresh breakfast inc Yorkshire puddings very strange having a Yorkie for breakfast but I really enjoyed it would defo be back soon. Also I'd like to add how friendly the staff are and always very polite and happy to help always happy to have a chat with you very friendly place and Lynn the manager is lovely and can't do enough to help 😊 her staff are a real credit to her.

Really enjoyed eating here. Great service and food and will be out place to go when visiting our son.

Haven’t been to Toby Carvery in Loughborough for years. We were impressed at how friendly and helpful the staff were. The food was delicious. Four of us had the carvery and two chose off the menu - we all enjoyed our choices. As people who cook from scratch and know what good food tastes like, we were very happy with the meals we had. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

I really thought the beans and tomatoes would have been served separately but it was all served together and made the potato and hash browns mushy plus an egg was missing

Visit with my brother, excellent all round experience, (Thursday lunch). Very busy on Sunday evening, good meal, excellent value.

The food was amazing! Customer service was okay but I feel like it would be nicer to ask customers if they have been to toby carvery before so it would be an easier process. As we had never been and were a bit confused, Other than that everything was good

Table booked 7:45. Very slow table service for drinks, then had to chase order. Only small fatty end of beef and dried up end of pork available. Told no more meat to come out so had to have gammon or turkey. Roast potatoes hard and dried out. Gravy was lumpy and like porridge!

Food again was bang on as usual, however we now know to go either earlier or avoid a Sunday as it is crazy busy, couldn’t book a table of 8 so had to do 2 tables of 4 but grateful the team could get us all on the same table in the end however when it’s busy it isn’t the best table to sit on (table next to the queue) Other than that was great, the staff seemed really rushed off their feet so mistakes were expected, just frustrating I asked for cutlery and had to then get them myself in the end as the lady had forgot…. Come here quite a lot now because of recent hospitality so will continue to attend when I can.

Booked a table and arrived at the restaurant to be told id have to wait 30mins for my table.

Absolutely appalling, booked a table but still had to wait 30 mins, queueing out the door. Then when you eventually get a table you go for food and have to queue for another 15mins....honestly like a cattle market...and it costs you 60 quid for the privilege....no thanks never again

Carvery and apple pie were delicious

The delivery kept changing and ended up nearly being 45 minutes later than the original time given. When the food arrived, I was missing two items, one of which I could not select as missing on the app as it was an optional extra (that I had selected and paid for). The other item was a side that I added and was not included either. The food that did arrive was cold and after tryign to sort, I received a small fraction of the price I had paid. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience

They didn’t put anything on what I asked for the beef was full of fat couldn’t even eat it I added on some creamy potato they couldn’t even be arsed to put the sauce on it

A lovely friendly greeting. Taken to our table and offered drinks immediately. Informed what meat and vegan options were available. Plenty of meats and poultry, and an amazing array of vegetables and other accompaniments, gravy and sauces. A lovely cooked lunch. My one disappointment, at this and any Carvery, by the time I get back to the table the food is just luke warm, before I have finished, and I don't pile my plate, I have to leave food as it has gone cold. I am a person who likes her food piping hot!

I went here for breakfast. No one on the till so I wait a bit before going to find a seat for a lady to say you HAVE to pay first. Maybe they should have a sign or something to say for people who are new to the place. Because I had no clue. Felt well awkward

Very small portion for the price

It was later than I’d selected. It came without 2 of my meats, pigs in blankets and stuffing, which should have come with.

I've scored you 2 stars before because food was really bad during your breakfast service gave you multiple chances but at the latest breakfast experience food was slightly better at 2 stars but we got asked to leave because we stayed too long. It wasn't even busy, you didn't need the table. I have tried to not give up on you.

Food excellent, staff friendly, service good. Interior decor could do with massive attention as it has become tired, tatty and dated.

We went here for lunch. The staff were very welcoming and polite. The food was also great. The atmosphere was kind of sad and run-down. It was pretty cold in there, too.

Although there didn’t seem to be a lot of staff they were very efficient and attentive. We were a group of 17 but we seem to be scattered instead of a long table and just a personal touch the veg was al dente - l like a little more cooked. Overall brilliant will come again

Great place for a reasonable priced and tasty carvery

We were given a warm welcome and immediately led to our table. Before long a server came to take our drinks order. She was young and did not know what ale was so went to find which ales were available. One was chosen as was 2/3 frothy head, which she said would settle. Another waitress noticed it and asked if she could please top it up, as she was unhappy seeing it This was just a blip as everything else ran smoothly . The carvery was as good as ever and the take away meal we needed for an absentee was good too. No problem getting and paying the bill

Zero stars, never again will I return. We came Wednesday for breakfast, awful food. Yorkshire pudding rock hard. Husband had to use toilets. One totally blocked and filthy. The other, door hook broke, lino coming away from wall with dirty toilet paper stuffed behind it, dirt everywhere. He couldn't finish food, awful for which £18.96 was paid. This is second bad experience, enough, Never again!

Staff are always lovely at Loughborough, always made to feel welcome and service is first class. Food is good too!

Terrible placed an order and only 2 items arrived, phoned the restaurant and told they can’t do anything about it as they work with a third party who is just eat and told to apply for a refund on line

Food is Lovely and lagar. Good I am a lonely and lost person since March 3 2024 lost my mum too cancer I am so very lonely person person on my own eating in any restaurant in loughborough every where

31.12.24 We booked for breakfast and everything was absolutely “spot on”. They’d allocated us a really nice table as I’d explained it was a “festive” get together. We were welcomed nicely; our mugs were ‘warmed’ for us; food was tasty and topped up regularly; all staff were efficient, courteous and friendly. Thank you! We’ll certainly visit again.

Went on a Saturday just before Christmas, we had reserved a table for 13x people. Got seated at the table quite quickly, was told someone would come and take our drinks order...... after 15 minutes we went to the bar ourselves. Self service for the food but the chef was friendly and the food was very good. Bit disappointing with the kids menu, apparently chicken nuggets on a bun is a chicken burger .... but cheap kids set menu. Only serving alcohol until 10pm and asked to leave 10:30 so don't leave it to late if you want a few drinks. Plenty of free parking

Had a party of 22. Gave us great room with Xmas decorations. Great food and great service. Will definitely be back soon and the party next year.

Absolutely amazing!! We have a member of the family with an allergy to orange, and the staff could not have been more helpful. There was a choice of 5 meats, and they made us aware that the Gammon and Pork was not an option for the allergy as they were cooked together. They had a knife for each meat but washed all 5 knifes to prevent contamination. I apologised for being a pain, and their response was, "We are here to serve and for you to enjoy in a safe environment." We can not recommend this place enough!

It was a very busy night but the staff were so helpful and friendly, Bella was lovely and our waiter, who's name I have forgotten, sorry, was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.

Child wanted to come here for dinner and a treat apparently. Having not frequented a carvery for many years, I felt why not let’s try. Then I remembered why I hate them. We stood by the door waiting to be seated for 5 minutes whilst staff just walked past and ignored us Eventually we was given a table Stupidly long queue to get a drink from a machine that didn’t work 100% Then the food Jesus Christ. I’d not even give it to my dog. Meat chewable vegetables… hmm Roast potatoes more like cremated Cold and lax lustre Chefs/cooks also need to learn how to keep things clean. A real mess. Yuck.

Great food, friendly staff and great service, (Scottish?) Manager (apologies if I’ve got that wrong) was clearly really busy but friendly, polite and helpful, as she always is, only downside is the actual state of the building, toilet in the gents far left didn’t even have a working flush, paint job in the restaurant seating area is worse than me painting (and that’s saying something!), staff were all great though, for a Toby with such a mix of the regular and the students, it just works really Well, and is an asset to the area, this is my go to carvery now with my elderly mother, as they are always so helpful and accommodating, Colwick now takes 2nd place in my top Tobys, this one will always be my 1st choice, please DON’T turn it into a Miller and Carter!

Careful ordering any extras, I ordered an extra Yorkshire pudding, they didn’t send it, looks like they just think it’s the one that comes with the meal, also given up ordering drinks as they’ve never once sent them.

It was busy but we were quickly greeted and shown to our table. Drinks and food orders were taken quickly and the carvery staff were also quick to serve people to avoid the queue building up. Food was fresh and well stocked

We had a lovely time at Toby carvery today! There were 6 of us that booked in advance. We arrived early and were sat straight the way. The lady who waited our table was very lovely and friendly and accommodated our needs. The food was great! No complaints at all! Would definitely go back :)

Relatives had booked for Christmas day. Unfortunately the technology is not fit for purpose as we couldn't submit menu choices through the online portal due to technical issues! Then to pay the balance the system hadn't taken off the initial £10 deposit per person. Why make a supposedly enjoyable experience so difficult and irritating?

I booked a table for 4 people at 2pm to celebrate a Birthday and anniversary. On arrival stood at the reception desk, no one came i had to go and find a member of staff. She looked on the system and said she couldn't find our booking, she said 'never mind we have spaces'. We were taken to a table and we sat down and she walked off. No one came to take a drinks order we were going to queue and get our carvery but there was only scraps of Beef and no turkey and no staff member at the Carvery station so we sat back down No one still came to our table so we had to stop someone walking past us. She wasnt' very friendly and seemed annoyed at our complaints. We asked if any more meat was being prepared, as we were prepared to get up and leave. She went to find out and said a Turkey as being prepared. Therefore we stayed. The Chef doing the carvery was friendly, but the food below standard the veg were either dried up or cold, no one rotating it or replenishing (my dad asked them to change the hard stuffing which they did) really unhappy and certainly wished we had not come. The drinks were expensive, £12 for 3 glasses of coke, we didn't refill as only there a short time. The Female member who we paid was very pleasant, we told her we were not happy she apologised, but nothing can take away the bad experience we had
