As a polish person from the city with hundreds of great quality restaurants (which serve real food, not ready meals and frozen crap) I must say that this is the best you can get in Leicester and area around. Worth recommendation food and interior is amazing!

Place is very small. They sat us on a table that meant my friend had to keep getting up and down from her seat to allow waiters and other patrons to pass. Not reasonable when you are trying to enjoy a meal. The food came out burnt. Specifically the Yorkshire puddings and the chocolate brownie. The vegetables were hard and undercooked. The portions of meat were very small, and despite pre ordering our meal we were left waiting for 45 minutes. The squid starter was very very small also, like 3 tiny cuttings. Its a shame, as we have ate here a few years ago and the food was second to none, and they hadn't crammed in so much seating. They must have a new chef or something. I wiill mention they discounted my bill slightly for the burnt food. But we will not be returning.

Food was excellent. Cooked just to my liking. Service was good and the young staff worked well as a team. Well worth their increases in the minimum wage!! I’ve been going into the Arms since 1974 and I’m sure the beams are getting lower so small, cosy and very traditional.

As someone who has dined at the Bakers Arms on many occasions over the last three years, it is incredibly disheartening to see the multitude of fake reviews I can see have recently been left (all within 1hr of each other from one friendship group - none of which who have dined at the bakers arms recently - or at all for that matter.....). The food here is always fresh and delicious, and their 5* EHO rating would say otherwise to any claims of the building being unkept or 'dirty' as one disgruntled ex-employee (and their friends) seems to have claimed. The award winning pub has used fresh, local suppliers in and around the Blaby district since it opened, and the fact that the first reviewers' only claim of 'unfresh' ingredients being used is 'spread' instead of butter makes this all seem like it has been posted with an ulterior motive. It seems to me that the previous reviewer has been let go for not meeting the high standards being set by this amazing village pub, and I sincerely hope anyone reading these reviews can see past their angry rambles of lies. I can guarantee anyone who has *actually* dined or visited this lovely pub (who does not have ulterior motives like this ex-employee and their friends) will be able to see and taste the fresh, clean and delicious food being served 7 days a week. Sincerely, Someone who has actually visited this pub and eaten their food. (P.S the false reviews claiming the bakers arms to be a 'cafe' shows how lazily they have produced these lies. As a tip - next time perhaps research what the place you're slandering actually is before spewing your lies for the internet to see ;))

The pub its self is lovely and cosy with candles etc. I found the staff very attentive and we didn't have to wait long for our drinks and food. We order the Sunday lunch . My husband asked for mashed potato instead of roast potatoes and the waiter told him that they used all the mash up yesterday. Which implies the food is not fresh. The 2 Brussels were frozen as you would expect in September. The cauliflower cheese was hard and couldn't cut into it. The one carrot we had was fine. There are a lot of seasonal vegetables at this time of year which would have been better than what we had on our plate. As for the vegetarian option there was only one to choose from.

This is undoubtedly a charming pub. Unfortunately the service was terrible. Ordering drinks took an age & the range of drinks was poor for an establishment this classy. Table service, it took forever for the food to arrive but to their credit the food was good. Complete lack of urgency throughout.

We are on a barge holiday and looking for somewhere for a good quality meal , sadly so far really hard to find, however found this and had the best meal we all enjoyed it with food and service very good and the bill came as a surprise too. We would be expecting £100 a head where we from so this was good value too. Friendly service high quality 5 stars well earned here.

Our beautiful local! We only live down the road and have been using the bakers for a few years now. They have the best offer around with a good range of drinks and food to cater for all! We often order from the garden menu or pop in for Sunday lunch and have never had an issue. Staff are always friendly and there to help which makes previous reviews confusing to read as not a true reflection of our brilliant local. Don't let them put you off!

We are long-time patrons of the Bakers Arms in Blaby, having eaten there many times. Yesterday we had our wedding anniversary dinner there. I opted for the catch of the day (haddock) and my wife chose the risotto. We also had a sharing appetizer of bread and olives. Before we finished our appetizer the mains were unceremoniously plonked on the table in front of us. My fish was well overcooked and had dried out inside the batter. The batter was very dark brown (black in places) and very crunchy where it should have been light brown and crisp. The fish flesh was dry where it should have been moist. The chips were also overcooked, dark brown and very crunchy - not such a problem with chips, but still not perfect. To be fair, when the waiter asked if everything was OK I said 'no' and explained why. He did offer to change the meal, but it was too late by then. If I was the chef I would have been ashamed to send out my fish meal. I suspect that my meal had been cooked some time earlier (hence being overcooked) and that's why were were rushed to finish our appetizer. Not a great experience (costing £80), but I will not write them off yet based upon past good experiences.

Having a great evening until they called last orders at 9:45. Then the woman who was cleaning down had no customer service skills, used abrupt single phrases to tell us to drink up and go. Manager was very "apologetic" but equally rude about closing times, which, according to here aren't until 12 and the 10pm closure isn't made clear. We understood that closing is closing, but it is how things are said, and this was beyond lacking.

Decline since being restaurant pub side very crowded and at 9 on a Friday they still kept the restaurant side closed off for even though it's empty. When they could of let the pub side flow into it. It's almost like they don't want to make a profit. From experience you get some munchies after drinking a little and they still could of sold food.

Disappointed as we went for a special occasion on a Monday, we booked. 1hr30 waiting for mains, plates cold, 2 out of 5 meals were not warm steak, chips and battered onion rings, and fish, chips they were cooked nicely but not hot by the time we got them. Service was poor, after first drink, we were offered complimentary bread and olives due to waiting times, but if we knew we had to wait that long, probably would have gone somewhere else. We had to ask for extra drinks after an hour. One staff member did say food wouldn't be long, just before it came out. Otherwise, we wouldn't have known how long we had to sit for. We were offered one free pudding as an apology but had birthday cake at home so we weren't ordering puddings. They weren't busy. Unfortunately won't be going again as it wasn't worth the money.

Been going to the Bakers for years, had my husbands 50th birthday meal a few years back with family, couldn't fault, delicious food, great service. Same to be said for numerous visits for Sunday lunch and evening meals. Unfortunately after looking forward to not cooking dinner at home, we were disappointed with todays Sunday lunch. Moved table due to the cold draught, not enough choice on the wine list for Rose, starters were average, main course was poor, the so called "cauliflower and brocolli cheese" consisted only of cauliflower, which was so hard, could barely eat it, couldn't see or taste any cheese, it was so dry. Potatoes were very bland, gravy was watery runny and temperature was just warm. Had desserts, crumble was nice, again temperature was barely warm for the custard. Overall for a regularly visited great place to eat and drink, felt very disappointed today, after checking the bill, 2 extra pints had been added in error, staff did rectify no problem, and felt £150 for 4 of us was very overpriced for the poor quality.

Ok so booked the psychic evening for mums Mother’s Day present, she likes stuff spread throughout the year. Paid the deposit and told the final amount would be taken from the same card on the day of event, no issues there on par with other establishments. The 5/6 course meal…. Disappointing to say the least, all served at room temperature, lacking taste and quality. Smoked salmon gravlax…. Nice wording for what was actually smoked salmon straight from the packet rolled in to circles, no dill or seasoning near it. The gazpacho just needed some tortillas to dip in because it was actually just a salsa sauce! Pork over cooked and no crispy crackling and let’s be fair it’s all about the cracking. The pub cannot be responsible for the psychics which we’re probably some folk from and old folks home out on a jolly. But the icing on the cake was getting a call some 5 minutes after leaving to say we hadn’t paid our bill! MORTIFIED. Obviously paid in fall but the slant in my character nearly as hard to swallow as the food! Not to be repeated! Fancy names like amuse bouche, palette cleanser and gravlax should really be used by those that can produce the products they advertise! What a crock!

Wanted to get out of the city centre and try somewhere new and this place had good reviews. The food wasn't bad but for the prices I was expecting a little bit more from it. I had the tiger pie and partner had the duck, both fine but a little underwhelming. Delightful banoffee pie. Main issue by far is the height of the ceilings, if you're 6 foot or over you have to walk like some kind of ogre to get out the building to the loo. Smacked my head hard on a beam coming back in. If you live local worth a visit, if not then wouldn't bother.

This is usually a very friendly pub, with a good range of drinks from ales, lagers and ciders to wines and spirits. Food here is usually good too with a small range of starters, snacks and main meals. It can be a bit cramped inside as this pub/building dates back to the 1400s - it's low ceilings and doorways are a direct result of this so remember to duck as you move around! Not the most child friendly of pubs - I'll let you decide if that is a plus point or not 😉 but it does have some outdoor seating for those with kids and/or dogs.

I have always loved eating at The Bakers arms and have always thoroughly enjoyed the food. Yesterday I visited with my friend for a pre Christmas get together. As usual the pub looked absolutely beautiful. The staff are lovely and very smartly turned out. Like everywhere else, there are price hikes. Sadly, most of the food wasn’t very enjoyable. We both had the scotch egg for starters. The texture of the pork was the texture of raw sausage meat. It actually made me gag. We asked the chef to check it was cooked properly and apparently it was. It was barely warm and the meat was slimy and unpleasant. Sue had the lamb which was delicious and nicely cooked. I had the burger which again, was not nice. The meat had an unpleasant texture and wasn’t very juicy. Everything else about it was nice and the bacon was lovely. It just seemed like my starter and main was a waste of money. We ordered a sharing cheese board at just under £15 for dessert. The cheese was delicious but for the money we had three pieces of cheese each, four crackers, a small dish of chutney and far too much butter for a few crackers. There was also some celery. It used to be far better and used to include grapes. We felt that was a ridiculous price for what we got. We were only drinking lime and soda and our bill was £75. The waiter was helpful when we told him the issue we had with the starters. Sadly though, I won’t be coming back to eat. Everyone is having to adjust to the cost of living. We expect food to go up in cost but not for the quality to go down. I don’t know if the chef has changed since we last went pre covid. Yesterday’s meal wasn’t a patch on previous meals.

She looked on the system and said she couldn't find our booking, she said 'never mind we have spaces'. We were taken to a table and we sat down and she walked off. No one came to take a drinks order we were going to queue and get our carvery but there was only scraps of Beef and no turkey and no staff member at the Carvery station so we sat back down No one still came to our table so we had to stop someone walking past us. She wasnt' very friendly and seemed annoyed at our complaints. We asked if any more meat was being prepared, as we were prepared to get up and leave. She went to find out and said a Turkey as being prepared. Therefore we stayed. The Chef doing the carvery was friendly, but the food below standard the veg were either dried up or cold, no one rotating it or replenishing (my dad asked them to change the hard stuffing which they did) really unhappy and certainly wished we had not come. The drinks were expensive, £12 for 3 glasses of coke, we didn't refill as only there a short time. The Female member who we paid was very pleasant, we told her we were not happy she apologised, but nothing can take away the bad experience we had
