The Barge is located right in the centre of Grimsby, if you are here drinking then it's a must visit place. The barge itself was being painted when we got there which will end up looking good and giving it a nice refresh. Inside is nice, good jukebox and nice service. Beer is on thr pricey side but worth it - there are a lot if dives in this town so you get what you pay for. Ample outdoor seating which was nice in the sun. Would recommend.

We had a great Saturday night at The Barge and stayed till closing at 2am. The drinks were flowing. The bar staff were cool and chatty. You need to take care of your drinks, because the barge is on a tilt. Your drinks slowly slide off the table, if you don’t put em on a mat. This was so funny. The staff kept buying us rounds of beer and shot , which was so cool. I think they recognised the international artist we were with. Best bar in Grimsby.

Had to go in here as its a unique place to have a pint, on the water below decks in a barge, sloped floor and some great beers on tap, friendly bar staff and customers made it a 2 pint stop and me and my dad loved it, they don't do food any more as shown in the picture tho except for bar snacks, a great place to visit in grimsby.

Without a doubt the best place for a pub lunch in Grimsby. Great quality menu with daily specials that are always something very different. Wonderful friendly staff and unique atmosphere of a former grain barge on a slight tilt! Food is always well worth the wait and the portion sizes will barely leave enough room for desert. The Barge is a Grimsby institution and should be visited by all!

Enjoyed a Friday pub lunch. The portions are plentiful, you will never go hungry. I had the sausage and mash ( good Lincolnshire sausages) and my friend had the Veggie burger. All good, and washed down with cider! The service was friendly and efficient. A good place to eat when in Grimsby town centre.

Absolutely love the Barge! I’ve dined at a variety of expensive and supposedly ‘highly rated” restaurants in and around this town and this place is by far my favourite. Friendly, welcoming staff and the food is consistently spot on! It’s undoubtedly one of the best value, nicest places to eat round here. Thanks for making every visit a pleasure :)

We normally visit the Barge for their excellent fish and chips but one Friday lunch we were after something much lighter and decided to try their nachos with a beer for me and a coffee for my wife. “ Enough to share” the menu proclaimed. When our meal arrived we found this was no idle boast, there was more than enough! The ratio of the key ingredients was generous and well balanced and our meal was absolutely delicious. The service was first class and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. Our meal & drinks came to just over £11. Highly recommended!

Wanting Fish & Chips whilst visiting Grimsby for the day, I choose The Barge for lunch before a business meeting. After checking reviews to looked a bit different with good food. We were not disappointed; friendly staff, prompt service and excellent Fish & Chips. Yes, its a little shabby, but it was clean. Better than an anonymous chain pub.

Lovely food & drink. Only criticism, instead of the bar staff telling me that “it happens all the time” when a pint of Stella slid off the table & soaked my jeans in beer, due to the listing of the barge. Wouldn’t it make more sense to put beading on the edge of the tables or level the table legs so this doesn’t happen again. Just saying.

We visited The Barge one afternoon for a meal and drinks , no problem with the the drinks , a pint of bitter which was well kept with a full and lasting "head" a pint of lager as you would expect it to be we had a burger each , one a beef burger which was obviously home made , not your plastic stuff , I had s chicken burger , which was slightly ordinary and obviously frozen , it was deep fried , dark on the outside and slightly undercooked on the inside , which means that the oil it was cooked in was to hot , (schoolboy error chef ) for what we had I thought it was well overpriced , but it seems to be very popular , but not in a rush to go back

Didn't eat here but while in Grimsby decided to have a drink. This is an unusual place its not every day you can get a pint in a barge in a town centre. It was a nice autumn day so we sat outside and watched Grimsby go about its business. The beer is reasonably priced and a very nice drink. Staff very helpful and friendly. The barge has a lean to the right to let you know its a boat so you need your sea legs to get to the bar. Worth a visit if your in town.

It's a little ramshackle, it's perhaps not the most 'desirable' and it can be seen as somewhere you might wish to avoid to steer clear of however...I love this place! The food is cheap, plentiful and super tasty, there's always a buzz of social life about the place even if I tend to visit during the less busy times of day (I'm not much of a night out kind of person) and the drinks are enough to keep me happy on an afternoon in town.It can get a little noisy in an evening when the crowds pile in, but I think that's testament to how well loved this place is, it can get a little wall-to-wall at times but I think it just adds to the charm of this place.Good in summer or winter to drop in have a pint or a bite to eat, I'd certainly recommend this to most, perhaps not a very 'family friendly' venue, but certainly a great little pub.

Husband and myself visited the barge for a drink and was thinking of giving there food a try. Well we sat outside enjoying our drink when one of kitchen staff arrived from town centre direction in full uniform and it didn't look too clean ( surely if your going to walk around the town on your break at least get changed first ) no very hygienic if you ask me. Then with that more staff appeared from inside the barge all in full uniform. Plonked themselves on the bench table and lit up a cigarette. I know everyone is titled to a break. But please at least cover up your uniform first. Very unhygienic especially kitchen staff. When a staff member ( who wasn't on her break ) came over to us to collect glasses we did say was thinking of having food but changed our mind due to the fact that kitchen staff was smoking in there uniform and that we had been put off by this. All she said was sorry about that and walked off. Husband and myself soon left after this and went elsewhere

The barge offers a different dining opportunity at the riverhead in Grimsby. The barge has been there for quite some time but still seems to be a local favourite. Whilst quite small there are additional drinking and dining tables on the terrace- landside- picnic table and bench style. Having been to the Barge on several visits to Grimsby but only ever for a drink, it was high up my list of things to do to actually eat there. I ordered the gourmet burger and have to say I questioned my choice when it arrived at the table. It was huge and all of my group commented that it certainly wasn't for the faint hearted. My appetite is very healthy and to finish it proved a real challenge so not for the calorie counters amongst us.Everything on the plate was home made and you could taste the difference, it was simply gorgeous. I can recommend the coleslaw by the bucket load. My co diners all enjoyed their various meals. My only critiicism would be the hour after it took me to waddle off the full stomach before I could even contemplate having another drink

I recently visited family and decided to revisit the place that I have always considered my "local".Being a lot older than the last time I frequented the barge I didn't know what to expect. I am glad to say that only a few things have changed and it is good to be able to visit a place that has a lot of memories and as such I didn't leave thinking that it was nothing like I remember.Aside from the unfamiliar faces of the staff very little had changed. The duke box was still cranking out good music (sex pistols) and the place looked the same. It's reassuring to know it has maintained it's place as the alternative bar in the town. There is a good selection of ale and some local brewed bottle beers.

The food was absolutely delicious. The best lasagna that I have ever eaten. Each mouthful a delight. I had a jacket potato served with salad and coleslaw to accompany my lasagne. We were a party of 4 ladies. We had reserved a table which was ready on our arrival. The staff informed us that the meal would take about 30 minutes which it did. No problem as we had a chance for a natter. The food arrived all together and a member of staff asked during the meal if everything was ok. All the food was piping hot. One of my friends chose the same dish as myself and the other 2 ladies chose different dishes. We all said how delicious the food was. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were all happy and smiling. The place was fairly busy but not too busy that you couldn't talk. A previous review from me rated this venue as the best pub Sunday lunch I had experienced.Regretfully my last two sunday lunches have shown that for some reason standards have slipped .The just home cooking feeling has disappeared replaced by what appears to be precooked veg and roast spuds microwaved dinged before service.Mashed potato served cold is also not a nice touch. However the quality of the meat for a pub lunch remains outstanding and the venue is still well worth a Sunday visit just don't expect the standards of the past

I visited with my family for an afternoon meal. As there was 8 of us it took an hour for the food to be served. We all received our meals together and the food was delicious! I have busted many times before with my friends and partner and service was much quicker. Will definitely continue to visit.

Popped in on the spur of the moment after shopping and had evening tea. The choice was ample and prices reasonable. We both went for Fish (Haddock) chips and mushy peas. My fish was battered and deep fried and my wife's grilled. I can only say they were both delicious as were the home made chips and mushy peas. The portions were very generous and neither of us could manage a sweet afterwards. Good choice of drinks, nice pint of real ale (Bombadier) and pleasant service. All together a nice experience and will go again.

I have read the few bad reviews of this place and just cant believe it. Iv eaten here around 3-4 times and every time the food has been lovely. Everything comes perfectly seasoned and freshly made.It really DOES taste like quality homecooked food rather than a serving from chef mike.(kitchen nightmares reference haha)Prices are £7.50 for a main meal, which i am fine paying for it as they are good size.Overall the only negative i can think of is that its slightly tilted as its a boat. But this really isn't an issue as staff are lovely and chefs are just brilliant in this place and always have been!

My very first impression on The Barge when arriving in Grimsby is that it just appeared to be a dive bar type place. But after entering and heading downstairs my view completely changed as the ambience enveloped me. It became a very fun experience, just knowing you're in this little barge actually is pretty cool. The folks behind the bar were wonderful, and I was more than impressed with the quality of food coming that came out. Really nice, not like classy restaurant nice, but for what I feel would be amazing pub options including a roast. If you're visiting Grimsby, definitely stop by here. The novelty is worth it on its own, the bar is extensive enough to suit any drinkers delight, and the food is good... I don't feel you can go wrong.

The barge is just that.... A barge sitting on the water in Grimsby town centre. Me and my hubby have been there several times on a Sunday and have sampled a few meals off the menu. It hasn't disappointed yet altho today the Yorkshire pudding was a little tough to handle. The portions are well generous and the food is really tasty. I can never finish my meal and usually try to give the hubby my leftovers lol. Sometimes you have a bit of a wait for the food but it's well worth it. I will continue to eat there and would have no hesitation in recommending the barge to friends. Lovely atmosphere, lovely staff. Well done guys, keep up the good work xx

We were here on Lincoln Christmas market weekend had the Sunday lunch menu very good vegetables served separate very nice. The only issue we had was we were charge twice on the bill for the cokes because we asked for large cokes. Food very good but feel abit rip off with drinks.

Excellent all round - food, service and beer. No card machine but told in advance. Visiting family from elsewhere and would be more than happy to have this quality on my doorstep ( accepting that I'll get charged more for it!!)

Very big portions, the food took some time to come but there was 7 of us. It's not the nicest place to eat, not like eating in a restaurant but the food was good and reasonable prices.

I don't know if they still do it, but if they do I highly recommend the chicken pie. Simple dish but really creamy. Been a favourite of mine for years.Xmas dinners there are also really nice especially for works Christmas parties.

I wanted to take my elderly mother and her friend out for lunch, and chose this place because it advertised "home cooking". They enjoyed themselves and the food, but I doubt it was anything more than "chill cook". I was wanting to ensure they had something special. It was just okay, nothing more.

Charged £19.90 for two burgers. Menu says comes with chips and got only the burgers. My sister who I was with also had no chips and got told she only paid a £5 each for the burgers but her bill was £39.60. They don’t give you a receipt. Probably over charge all the holiday makers

I have some very bad news for you!! I knew that the Trop will be imploded on October 9, 2024 at 2:30 AM, very early in the morning. I heard that the implosion date changed twice, initially it was October 2 at 2 AM, then changed to October 8, also at 2 AM. Then it changed once again to the final date! Prior to the implosion, there will be fireworks and a drone show. On April 2, 2024 (right after April Fools' Day), the Trop closes its doors for good (not an April Fools joke) at noon, 2 days before its 67th anniversary. I know the Trop was a 67 year old hotel. The Trop is the third oldest casino on the Strip and also one of the few remaining casinos during the city's mob era. The Trop is my favorite hotel. Before the implosion, the demo crew took about 5 months to dismantle the hotel, leaving the towers' frames behind for implosion. The reason why the Trop is getting demolished because they wanted to build a new $1.5 billion Major League Baseball stadium that will be the new home of the Oakland Athletics. Construction of the stadium will begin sometime in April 2025, one year later after closure and it will be completed by sometime in 2028, just in time for the 2028 season. Before the construction, you will just see an empty lot where the Trop used to stand. If you like the Trop like me, you will think something is missing, "Hey, where did the Trop go? This doesn't feel right at all!" I have also heard that a new Bally's will be built along with the stadium. Why do they wanted to build another stadium, at this location by destroying the Trop, just why out of anything. They should build that stadium in an empty lot or something instead of destroying the Trop. We stayed at the Trop for 2 nights, right after Christmas Day in 2022, not knowing the hotel will get demolished 2 years later. Before we went to Vegas, we stayed in Los Angeles for 2 nights. We left LA at 11 AM, making our way to Vegas. It supposed to take about 4 hours to drive to Vegas from LA, but there was a very bad traffic jam, lasting into the night time. We got stuck in traffic for many many hours, before getting to Vegas. We even tried to bypass the traffic by exiting random roads and finding our way back to the freeway. At 11 PM, late at night, we have arrived in Vegas, checking in to the Trop very late! Our parking spot every time was in front of the bungalows. The doors that leads right into the bungalows are key carded, so we had entered through the front entrance the first night and check in. We stayed in the winter, so that the pool is closed. It was very sad that we did not experience the pool area at all, that this was our only time visiting and staying at the Trop. We are very lucky that we picked the Trop as the hotel we would stayed at. I am very sorry to see the Trop go! Farewell, Tropicana! I will miss you a lot!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I just wanted to see what they are building in the land where the Trop stood in the years coming! I really wanted to know!
